Sy Hirsh: Zelensky Embezzled $400 Million of US Taxpayer Funding for Personal Use

Sy Hirsh also now claims that Zelensky embezzled over $400 million in US aid. He claims that Zelensky claimed he was buying oil on the open market, but actually bought it from Russia. Russia's oil prices are low because they're locked out of the open market and selling at a discount.

Then, the claim goes, Zelensky pocketed the difference between the price he claimed he paid and the price he actually paid. Which was $400 million.

In his latest Substack article, Hersh delved into the rampant corruption allegedly taking place among Ukraine's political elite, suggesting the situation is worse than most people think.

He explained that according to one source in the American intelligence community, Zelensky has been purchasing "discount diesel" from Russia with American money, and stashing the leftover funds.

"The Ukrainian president and many in his entourage have been skimming untold millions from the American dollars earmarked for diesel fuel payments," Hersh wrote. Analysts at the Central Intelligence Agency, he continued, put the number at "$400 million last year, at least," while another expert likened the level of corruption in Ukraine to that of the war in Afghanistan. During that conflict, the US was paying up to $400 per gallon to move fuel from foreign ports into the nation. It has not been revealed how much is being paid for diesel in Ukraine.

As Hersh pointed out, CIA Director William Burns confronted Zelensky on the issue of corruption during a meeting in January, telling the Ukranian president that other officials were mad at him for "taking a larger share of the skim money than was going to the generals."

Burns provided Zelensky with a list of high-ranking Ukrainian officials known by the CIA as corrupt, and he responded by firing ten who had been "brazenly bragging about the money they had."

Is this true? No idea.

Snopes is pretty sure, though. Imposing a standard they never, ever imposed on the media and Hillary Clinton Campaign's risible claims about RUSSIAN COLLUSION, they now say that Hirsh has "no evidence" for his claim, with the implication that it should therefore be treated as false.

Oh, and they also say that these charges are "promoted" by Russian media, so that's another reason you should just assume this is MOAR RUSSIAN COLLUSION.

On April 12, 2023, journalist Seymour Hersh published an article on Substack titled "Trading with the Enemy." Its central allegation, heavily promoted by Russian state media and conspiracy websites like Infowars, was that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had embezzled at least $400 million of U.S. aid money by using it to purchase discount fuel from Russia and pocket the difference[.]

Snopes said you shouldn't believe his previous reporting about the Nord Pipeline, either, because Hirsh uses -- brace yourself for this, people; the cringe is going to knock your heads back -- "anonymous sources."

The living lifeblood of leftwing partisan attack journalism, Snopes now declared is a reason to dismiss a report when it contradicts the Official State Propaganda line.

As Snopes explained in a story discussing those claims, Hersh's later career has been controversial and widely panned by journalists for promoting conspiratorial claims that hinge on dubious anonymous sources or speculation. This later work is often sympathetic to Russian talking points, and his work is widely covered there.

Hersh's present claim fits plainly within that genre. Characteristically, it has been promoted by Russian media. Hours after publishing his piece, the Russian news agency TASS promoted Hersh's claims[.]

Meanwhile, Michale Shellenberger reports that FaceBook Is now censoring the Sy Hirsh investigative piece that claimed, based on an unnamed highly-placed source, that the US blew up the Nord Stream pipelines. Which, by the way, Victoria Nuland virtually admitted to Congress. She bragged about it with an unmistakable whiff of Pride of Authorship and dirty vag but mostly Pride of Authorship.

But FaceBook has decided they're so good at Censorship they should do more of it:

Here's the article by Seymour Hirsh, alleging the US blew up the Nord Stream piplelines, which the propaganda media company FaceBook is censoring.

This is the same FaceBook that censored the Hunter Biden laptop story to "fortify" the 2020 election.

This is the same FaceBook that censored all talk of the lab leak, or the "leakiness" of the "vaccine," or the proven injuries caused by the vaccine, or anything that undermined the official State Media diktats on covid.

And rather than being ashamed of their disgusting performance as the Secret Information Police of the corrupt Deep State, they've decided that they did such a good job of declaring, with all Oligarchical Supremacy, that which is True, and that which is RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION.

It's time to strip section 230 from all big media companies. I know that they cannot function without some verson of s.230 protection, and that this will drive them bankrupt.

Ask me how much I f***ing care.

Bankrupt them. Seize their fucking estates.

I'm in a fucking communist revolution state of mind. I've had it. If they won't stop using their billions to interfere with elections, then I'm afraid we're going to have to take away their billions.

Classic.

It's Sy Hersh, and he doesn't have a good track record, but it would surprise me not at all if this is true.

Also, Z-man needs to up his game. Of the approximately $100 billion in money and supplies we've dumped on Ukraine, $400 million is a mere 0.4%. He has a long way to go to hit "Big Guy" status.

Now add in the crypto crash of SBF and how Ukraine govt put money into that sinkhold and then money was channelled to GOP and Dem politicians in the House and Senate.

In the case of Hersh, he is most probably right that the US instigated the destruction of the Nordstream pipelines in light of the Swedish investigation indicating explosives were used.

He may or may not be accurate as to the means and method by which the US did it. A lot of times, the governments doing the dirty deeds have a bodyguard of lies that spread squid ink all over the information space. Then they point to parts of the made up cover story that was 'leaked' to a reporter as a hot tip and demonstrate it was impossible given the verifiable facts. They do this in order to cause people dismiss the rest as a confusing he said she said controversy.

Whether US or UK divers were used or even Polish, the end result is that Nordstream was destroyed by NATO affecting Germany with full US approval if not direct action.

Neocons status update:

London(CNN)Russia's oil exports have bounced back to levels last seen before it invaded Ukraine, despite a barrage of Western sanctions.

Moscow's exports of crude oil and oil products rose in March to their highest level since April 2020, jumping by 600,000 barrels a day, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in its monthly oil report Friday. The rise lifted Russia's estimated revenue from oil exports to $12.7 billion last month

Maybe. But virtually everything we've been told about the war by our own government and their pr agents in the media has been a lie. The leaked documents make that abundantly clear. And it does seem that Russia is indeed winning.

Their oil exports are back up to pre-war levels, the have a new military alliance with China and they are helping organize an alternative to the US dollar for international trade. Meanwhile our economy is in the toilet, we are considered a laughingstock around the world, our military has gone woke and is broke and even our beer has lost its balls. The sanctions regime failed. The Ruble did not collapse (laregly because the Russian finance minister pulled off a neat trick and probably earned himself a dacha and a constant stream of young whores as a just reward), and they got over the initial barrage. This bought them breathing room to cut various deals to switch to non-Dollar settlement. It ain't over yet, but it looks like our actions were a total failure for us. Russia is still alive, the Ruble is still alive, Russian commodities are flowing again - and we've managed to turf confidence in the Dollar and provide the axes to cut down the support structures underpinning the international settlements system all at the same time.

It's really something of an achievement for the United States. It's odd to see a major policy exercise fail so completely.

In part, the difference between a revolution and a revolt is that revolutions replace almost all of a ruling class with another including taking the wealth. The American Revolution resulted in a lot of wealthy people losing their land for siding with the British during that conflict and getting bupkis for it. Same for land grants by the king that had not been settled yet. Bupkis.

The term you are looking for is "legitimacy"
People get a lot of status in a system through legitimacy. In our system that required supporting the current thing. That is also why Neil deGrasse Tyson is so supportive of things he hasn't got a clue about, by the way.

If you find a new set of reality to coalesce around for legitimacy other than rules laws and authority figures, you will change the world.
I suspect that is why churches and families must be subverted by the current regimw.

228 You can't do that without also stripping it from yourself, and s.230 is the only thing that allows this and every other conservative blog to exist.

Also Facebook is not acting as a media company *or* a platform. They are an "interactive computer service" as defined under the CDA and they are acting entirely within the bounds of the CDA.

As I understand it, the issue to hand is whether a site is a platform or a publisher, with a platform defined as someone who doesn't select content, while a publisher does. Liability then (should) attaches to the publisher for publishing knowingly false things or verboten material such as kiddie porn. Ace is CLEARLY a publisher in that he decides what he puts up, and censors (when he deems fit) people who violate the rules he's established. How does he benefit from s230?

230 The sanctions regime failed.

------
Depends on long run or short run. Oil producing states have an up and down cyclical downturn in revenues and that is also tied to commodity price cycle. Most of Russia's nascent tech industry has been gutted and that leaves exports to others as its only major revenue source and extraction of those will depend on foreign technicians increasingly. Stupid war by Putin with long run ill effects for Russia. We are stupid for forcing the issue bleating out invitations to Ukraine to join NATO and the subsequent economic actions by the US will hasten the end of reserve currency status.

>>IIRC multiple cops testified that they had pulled over the pilots a few times but had to release them because they were illegals without visas. Might've even contacted the feds and been told to release them.

Again, this all came out during the 9/11 Commission, the LE/IC apparatus of the US knew all of the hijackers were in the US, they knew their movements, they knew their finances, they knew they were going to flight schools, they knew they were up to no good.

But much like the FBI agents who sat watching as Islamists were going to murder Pam Geller, they sat back and "watched" like Chauncy Gardner, and then hand wave away their culpability in 9/11 by claiming to "lack the imagination," to understand what the terrorists were going to do.

They knew, they what was what, and they knew what the resultant response was going to be from the MIC/IC/LE Jock Sniffers.

If I understand the Gospels, Jesus wants us to drop our obsession with 'the things of this world,' like corrupt govts and failing empires, to focus on storing up treasure in Heaven instead.

People who hang out here at AoSHQ are most likely still quite concerned with 'the things of this world' and their own survival; it's our red meat, our daily laments.

So we have a dilemma right there, between our revealed preference of daily political agonizing, and the instructions of Christ. YMMV.

Russia was integrating with us on the tech side, and that is certainly over. The sanctions can and will keep bleeding-edge stuff out of their country. They're now in the same position as China as far as high tech goes and they're on the back foot.

But much of the situation - dependence on foreign technology and expertise - is unchanged. They were dependent before. They used to be dependent on us, but in the future they'll be dependent on someone else. Some of that stuff can only be done by us, but a lot of it can be done by China and others. This war is hurting everyone, but I think 10 years on, it will have hurt us comparatively more - if only because we have further to fall and more to lose.

I think you are being unclear on purpose.

Well not on purpose. I meant to only point out that theft and vandalism are different crimes because the comment I was reacting to as saying it was theft and so therefore some could call that Satanic (sarcastically). On the micro level it isn't really theft as much as destruction of property. Which is still a crime. The issue isn't whether it is a crime or not, its whether the authority is legitimate and the revolt is legitimate. From a moral perspective, not legal per se, if the law is not equally applied, it arbitrary and a mechanism for oppression, you may be justified in breaking it. You still ought to be careful.

381 it means that both the Russians and the Ukes are going through a farce of staging a war, for the purpose of shaking down America and the Europeans for all the cash they can get. And our politicians know about it and are fine with it since they're all getting a cut of the action.
Posted by: Tom Servo at April 20, 2023 12:56 PM (trdmm)

Well, yes, this is why Putin called it an SMO. Russia correctly realized the economic game was much more important than total mobilization, and most of the last year can be explained by that fact. Russia would love to turn the Ukraine into a resource extraction zone for metals and grains. I don't think they wanted or anticipated NATO going all in militarily, but they're clearly preparing for that as well.

The people who insist Russia has lost two gorillion soldiers are going to look very stupid, and by the end of this year.

Small Nm chips are only "high tech" things CHN and RUS could need from West. Well, we far exceed them in bioweapons.

And CHN is not far behind. And RUS mil equip doesn't need them. Hardly any mil equip needs them. And RUS bought a bunch of litho equip etc in the process of off loading USDs and USTs. And RUS is kinda good at the science.

This whole thing is nations trying to work around scrambling for USDs to export things. If the US forces them, they will actually create an alternative. An alternative that doesn't currently exist.

The scramble for USDs is increasing so the "value" of the USD is going yo increase near and mid term.

This if course, is what is causing global slowdown.

CHN will actually collapse if USD scarcity continues and or increases.

US calculates approx 2030 for collapse. And CHN to go to war approx 2025 to counter.

RUS strategy is descended from Svechin. He got purged but was right about WWII. RUS needed 3 waves of increasing mobilization. Domestic industry increased during first two and is converted into mil for 3rd and final.

RUS is in either 1st or second mobilization of a 3 part plan. Prob first. They would like to draw NATO into the defenses they built in UKR and then bleed them with 2nd mobilization while industry goes 100%. 3rd biggest mobilization will be the hammer.

NATO appears to be not industrializing in response.

Red China is scrambling like mad to get out from under Dollar dependence, and they might succeed. I am not sure which way I lean on that yet. War in or around 2025 is not a completely unreasonable assumption.

The Russia sanctions, the out-of-control spending, the weakness in UST, etc. will probably be good for things like gold in the intermediate and short terms, though.

444 So, the conundrum of our age is which liar do you trust least? The lying reporter, the lying rest of the media, the lying fact checkers, the lying politicians, or the lying bureaucrats?

I don't trust anyone.

*shifty eyes*

Not even myself!!

How does this:
"So you are against or for revolt? You throw words up like a squid blows ink, you uses semantically weighted words to obscure your arguments, and it feels like this is to cover your thoughts while claiming attention.
Is revolt legitimate or not?"
Posted by: Kindltot
Answered:I have no idea why you think that, please ignore me. But the answer to your question, is obviously, it depends. Satan's was not. I bet you can come up with some that you think are legitimate without my help.

Result in this?
"I am not arguing about legitimacy you are, and yet you blow more words instead of arguments.
If all you want to do is argue, then fine, but then you call my responses invalid, so you seem to just want to abuse people.
Why do you not engage honestly?"

Posted by: Anonosaurus Wrecks, Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?

Evil Vampire King Karl Urban's somewhat armored train in the movie "Priest" was pretty cool. That movie is a guilty favorite of mine. Paul Bettany in the title role, much like his similar role as Archangel Michael in "Legion", another guilty fave.

That'd be like the US supplying the japs in WWII.

Maybe the Russkis figured it would allow the ukes to drive their tanks within range of Russian guns?

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at April 20, 2023 01:37 PM (tkR6S)

451 If it's true, though, it makes me doubt the "Ukraine is on the cusp of victory" stuff even more. Russia needs the money, but *no* country would sell vital commodities to a directly-engaged enemy combatant if that enemy combatant was cleaning its clock.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at April 20, 2023 12:08 PM (t0OGg)

There were rumors that at least one complete HIMARs system with ammunition was sold in its entirely to Russia when it was first being deployed into Ukraine. While these were never verified, there definitely were other bits of military hardware donated to Ukraine that ended up on the black market.

Also one of the triggers for Nordstream II was Ukraine's habit of stealing gas from the pipelines running to Europe and making Russia make good on deliveries. I doubt that these profits made it down to the common folk.

452 Given that Brazil is already on that path, and Mexico (?!) is looking to join the party, the trajectory of USD demand will go dramatically downwards.
Posted by: trev006 at April 20, 2023 01:20 PM (DTm0P)

Only if the global demand stays the same or decreases. It is currently rising faster than others can contrive work arounds. In my opinion. Signs of scarcity increasing and global economy slowing.

The presence of alternatives can put a brake on abuses by the major player more than their size suggests as long as those alternatives can expand. If abusing the dollar drives significant traffic away, this means the effectiveness of using it as an instant sump for our spending works less well.

Posted by: Oldcat at April 20, 2023 01:57 PM (eoQWY)

453 I don't even think they'll need to deep think this. The NATO bases in the Baltics, but particularly the British and Canadian ones, are weak as hell. Russia can either force them into total retreat or wipe them off the map.

Then what?
Posted by: trev006 at April 20, 2023 01:17 PM (DTm0P)

Idk. It seems RUS is the only one aware of what Strategy is.

US seems to have had only a knockout blow planned.

I guess we'll see if our sub fleet still has enough superiority to let US walk away.

Or rather, if RUS has calculated that.

It seems everyone thinks the opposite is reality. And that our subs have insufficient advantage.
Posted by: Thesokorus at April 20, 2023 01:20 PM (mbhi0)

I found it very amusing that the press was speaking of the NATO front vs Russia growing from 1000 km to 2500 or whatever with Finland joining as if this were an advantage. Look, idiots, you have to *defend* that area now while only getting Finlands few thousand troops added and obsolete weapons. Russia, on the other hand, has to only defend a few selected points - St Petersburg, Murmansk ports, a few rail junctions as the rest is just rough terrain with awful weather.

Posted by: Oldcat at April 20, 2023 02:01 PM (eoQWY)

454 RUS is in either 1st or second mobilization of a 3 part plan. Prob first. They would like to draw NATO into the defenses they built in UKR and then bleed them with 2nd mobilization while industry goes 100%. 3rd biggest mobilization will be the hammer.

NATO appears to be not industrializing in response.
Posted by: Thesokorus at April 20, 2023 01:09 PM (mbhi0)

NATO has been demilitarizing itself for decades, and now much of their equipment has been sent to Ukraine and lost. More will follow. Replacements will be years coming. The US has also put huge dents in its stocks of weapons that won't be replaced soon.

Russia doesn't need to advance a meter outside its borders to incorporate alien unruly people. Parts of Ukraine that are Russian are incorporated and others will follow, what happens to the rump of Ukraine is the question.

Posted by: Oldcat at April 20, 2023 02:05 PM (eoQWY)

455 >>Well, I am quite prepared to accept any claim of criminality on the part of Zelensky. But how does his buying of Russian diesel work? I assume it must be brokered by a third party? Doubt they are trucking or pipelining it directly across the border.

Not clear to me but I would assume some 3rd party arrangement.
Posted by: JackStraw at April 20, 2023 01:01 PM (ZLI7S)

The sanctions explicitly allow sales of Russian oil if 'mixed' into a new product by a third party. So oil from Russia goes to India, say, they toss in a gallon of Wesson oil to the tanker and sail it off and its all legal.

The US itself is doing this kind of traffic through India for a lot of the Russian oil it used to use.
