Walmart closed four Chicago locations over the weekend, and now community leaders want to know where people will get food and prescriptions -- and what will happen to the empty buildings. "This is a place where most people get their fresh fruits and vegetables, considering that a lot of the corner stores that's in our neighborhood currently only provide junk food," said Ilandrea Nichols, Senior Service Coordinator for My Block My Hood My City.One "activist" tweeted -- though he has since deleted this tweet, it appears -- that Walmart should just be happy that criminals are kind enough to rob them blind.

The "broader population in this community" supports this lawlessness, and should suffer the natural consequences of their actions. They may not be stealing themselves, but they're electing people on a "defund the police and empty the prisons" platform. An estimated 100 people broke into a Compton gas station after a street takeover early Sunday morning, smashing open a door and grabbing merchandise off the shelves, authorities said. Baltimore had a teen riot with 2 teens dead on Easter night. The mayor is instituting a curfew for teens for the summer do to that action. Not sure it will help, but I was actually surprised they are being somewhat proactive. Then again, when your city is almost all one color at this point (at least where the rioting was), it doesn't pay to screw yourselves.

I have suddenly seen armed security guards posted in the grocery stores in the Minneapolis suburb of Plymouth MN outside the 494/694 loop. It is a ten-fifteen mile ride straight up Highway 55 from North Minneapolis. One security guard had a handgun, Tazer, and a vest with a dozen pistol magazines.
They are also closing the second/ third entrances earlier and earlier, and also shortening their store hours. That sucks, because I liked shopping later, like 9PM to avoid hearing the crowds and the screaming kids.

My father owned a store with a gum ball machine out front overnight in the 60s. By the late 70s you could not walk the streets due to crime during the day. The Main road was mansion filled with professional offices, but the 70s they were tenaments.

These mid-teen mobs almost always start somewhere. The community pool, the roller skating rink, a school sporting event, etc. If a motivated mobster wanted to stop the youts, they would send enforcers to those events, then start cracking heads if the crowd started moving to a protected business.
If the mid-teens got wiser and moved more of their organizing to social media, a motivate mobster could move on to grabbing members of the crowd and encouraging them to reveal the accounts they followed and do a little bit of detective work to find organizers. Groups like this appear unorganized, but I guarantee you can root out some leaders.

My NH town has a homeless problem. Now that winter is over they are being kicked out of overnight shelters and hotels. They are setting up camps on any vacant piece of property they can find - public or private. They have to use companies such as Serv-Pro to go in and pick up all the haz-mat materials.

I just watched The Terminal List not long ago. Pretty good show, a bit dark for my tastes, but it was entertaining. But its a goofy fantasy. Shows like that portray the crusading journalist who digs up the truth and when its released Everything Changes.
That's not what happens, not any more. How many unbelievably corrupt and criminal things have journalists exposed over the last 10 years and not only is nothing done about them, but the journalists are sometimes jailed. The rest of the media ignores the story or actively attacks and downplays it.

Police USED to be trained to grab the instigators that were hanging back. The loudmouths at the front look like the root cause, but the instigators at the back are worse.
So far as I'm aware, they don't do this anymore. Too many videos of small groups of cops rushing through the crowd to grab someone that doesn't appear to be causing too much harm caused the cops to be squeamish.

I did recall one time when I was in a different room someone refer to her with a different first name. Looked under that name and *think* I found her. Long story short. Gypsy. Moved all around all her life. Despite graduating nursing school no professional record.

Yep. My company used to have a few floors in a swanky building in downtown Seattle. The company hung onto that space for over a year, even when nobody was occupying the space. They closed down a while back and everyone working out of that office is now 100% remote. I'm certain this story is common.

It's not just the big cities; I live in a moderately affluent suburb of Grand Rapids and beggers are driven in every day to the entrances of large stores to set up shop. They don't deny it's political.
Groceries are a thin margin business, walking a loaded cart out the front door happens frequently even here as there's no serious security in place.

Western civilization was built around high-trust societies. It took a thousand years to get to that point, but the institutions and culture were all build around the assumption that you could trust the other guy not to screw you over every chance he got.
The current political and managerial classes have spent decades exploiting that for their own gain, and are now shocked that we've reverted to a low-trust society, while the institutions haven't caught up.

He has no illusions about the rich but simply argues that in production, they inadvertently improve the lot of those poorer than themselves.

That is very true and will temper any attempts at totalitarianism. Simply put, when no one believes anything anymore such as patriotism, work ethic, even the latest diversity class etc., the managerial class will find it more and more difficult to actually do anything.

SOMETIMES they do, but that is much less the case now that the profits are in China, and this "free market" is a one way street. We build their military, they steal our tech, and buy our politicians.
Without including the cost of pollution control here, no constraints there, or no labor laws there, strict hiring/safety codes here ... then we don't really have the Big Picture of an economy (that is intertwined with society).
Military power is also actually a part of the Big Picture, along with DeepState and the criminal cabals to delivers trillions to friends, taxes for the plebes.
