Rumor: Disney Marvel Is Recasting "Kang the Conqueror," the Alleged Next Thanos-Level Villian, in Wake of Domestic Assault Charges Against Jonathan Majors

Tom Connors of Midnight's Edge says he's heard a rumor from two sources -- who I guess can't confirm each other, as both are calling their information a rumor -- that Jonathan Majors is being fired from the M-She-U, despite the plan having been that his character, "Kang the Conqueror," would be the central fulcrum upon which the franchise turns for the next three or four years.

This follows Majors being arrested for domestic battery.

Majors was denounced by people who worked with him, with one of them saying something like, "I'm surprised it took this long." Connors points out that he can't find anyone besides Majors' lawyer who's willing to publicly defend him.

I guess this is just more Bad Luck for Disney.

I think there's an old saying that applies to the Failure Factory that is Woke Disney: Stupid, evil people tend to have bad luck, for some unfathomable reason.

Oh, and they released the trailer for the much-delayed, little-anticipated The Marvels.

A month or so ago, there were reports of a partial screening of the movie. They only showed people the first half or two thirds of the movie for some reason. I guess to reduce the chance of spoilers leaking out? Not sure.

Anyway, a guy who said he was at the partial screening said that it's not a movie for adults. It's a Disney XD sitcom for little girls.

This trailer seems to confirm that.

Marvel's hot streak continues!

I wonder if there are any people who did work on DisneyXD product like 10 years ago who are in upper management of Disney now.

At least elevated to writers and such.

I'm not curious enough to look, though.

27 I wonder how long it is before Hollywood fully adopts North Korean techniques.

The North Korean regime has digitally scrubbed a disgraced actor from an old television series in the latest effort to remove any trace of defectors.

The series in question, The Taehongdang Party Secretary, aired in the rogue state between 1998 and 2000, and previously starred North Korean actor Choe Ung Chol.

Advanced video technology has now been used to remove him from the series, and leave the rest of the programme unaltered.

t is understood that Choe displeased the Pyongyang regime due to his alleged womanising and favour of Jang Song Thaek, Kim Jong Un's disgraced uncle who was executed in 2013.

Instead Pak Jong Taek now stars as the protagonist for Korean Central Television reruns in the show that depicts the life of North Korean potato farmers in 1990s amid famine.

50 Easy path to hurt Disney - skip all their blockbusters in theater this year. It's as simple as don't buy a ticket.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3
Little Mermaid
Elementals
Indiana Jones 5
Haunted Mansion
The Marvels
Wish

(and skip White Men Can't Jump, The Boogeyman, Theater Camp, A Haunting in Venice, Next Goal Wins, True Love, and Magazine Dreams if you want to be a true completionist).

If those major movies get skipped, Disney will be in a world of hurt, and may actually moderate content...

It seems that the whole goal of being a Disney employee anymore is not to do good work, but to be sitting in the chair where the most powerful corporate executive lands on your dick when the music stops. And if you don't have a dick or if you have a dick and wear a bra, you get green lighted for your own series. Disney has become a cancer instead of a cultural icon.

Usually, there is room for entertainment. Hollywood has often been counter-cyclical. During economic downturns, inflations, etc., shit sucks. Going to the movies is a nice escape. When the economy isn't doing great, movies still usually hold up or even exceed the market.

When they manage to fail during a down economy, they're doing something very, very wrong. This isn't an economy problem, it's a quality problem.

Kang was a Klingon played by Michael Ansara in ST:TOS. Kodos, also in ST:TOS, was the genocidal guy who killed off half of the people in the colony he governed, so that (he said) the other half could survive. He comes aboard the Enterprise as the leader of a troupe of actors, along with his hot blonde actress daughter.

Matt Groening and The Simpsons seized on those names and have had lots of fun with them.

152 Speaking of movies...

We saw what I guess you would call a "cute" black comedy about murder last week on Shudder. It's titled-

"Small Town Killers"

It's about two couples living in a small Swedish town whose marriages are on the rocks. The two guys work together and decide that if they divorce their wives then it gonna be nothing but hookers and blow and high times cuz the wives don't know about the "hidden" reserves of cash from the business. But, the wives do know.

So, the divorce is going to cost the husbands a fortune. They get smashed and wish they could just get rid of their wives. While black out drunk, one of them hires a hit man from the dark web.

The wives find out and think "well, two can play that game." and hire their own hit woman to kill their husbands.

Hijinks ensue.

Just a fun little comedy. Not much gore. Sort of along the lines of "How to Murder Your Wife" from 1965 but a bit more violent. Just wants to entertain you and leave you smiling.

Check it out.

Lucas had Gary Kurtz as producer on the first two, providing him with some kind of creative counterbalance. He lost Kurtz between Empire and Return and he lost his editor wife during Return.

When he came back 17 years later to make more movies, he had Rick McCallum, a yes man who looks at the world like he's a complete idiot the whole time.

Every so often Disney realizes that a male market exists, begins to make efforts to sell to it, then goes back to making things for women (really their core audience). Sticking to selling to both or selling to only one would be saner than the waffling back and forth yes.

In theory that's true, but the foreign elite in charge of modern Hollywood HATES Americans too much to appeal to them, much less be creative. The goddamn MARIO movie can cruise in on pure 80s nostalgia and Jack Black, but merely refraining from black supremacy actually makes Seth Rogan tolerable.

Even if there is a depression, a lot of people will be consuming K-dramas, manga, and independent video games. That will weaken Hollywood and the Wall Street oligarchy further. Not empower them.

Right, that was my point. Hollywood is broken and they're going to get wrecked in the coming recession. It isn't escapist or even just entertaining anymore. When people are watching pennies, they're not going to waste those pennies on movies they didn't even like when times were better.

They "kill" Kang in Quantumania - and then in the end scene you literally see a stadium full of Kangs, ready to go to battle. It's really all been rather meaningless since the "Time Heist" in Endgame. Nothing is permanent, except (maybe) Iron Man's death and Black Widow's death. All the others can and have been undone.

235 Don't knock little girl movies, especially since little girl movies are what I'm forced to watch when the granddaughters stay over. Just yesterday, I watched a Barbie movie, the one where Barbie trades places with a pretty princess who looks just like her and who wants to trade places with Barbie because she feels overwhelmed by all of that royal responsibility and attention. There's also a cute puppy chase in the airport scene. Ken complains he and Barbie don't get to spend nearly enough time together. Even my granddaughter Emma thinks Ken is a wimp. Riveting stuff.

Mmhmm. And that is the worst part of the next two years for Hollywood. What, are they going to graft in scenes of Danvers looking for a husband and starting a family? Of course not. Ironically, her almost complete isolation from family and having few genuine friends should make her the most susceptible character to baby rabies. But that would stomp on the entire feminist vibe, and Marvel would rather burn the studio down than let that happen.

While a baby-seeking character arc did not improve Wanda Maximoff, to put it mildly, even the show runners of WandaVision unconsciously acknowledge that only her husband could stop her from acting like a total psycho bitch. But I'm getting off track.

Lord of the Rings continues to be a healthy franchise years after the last good movie came out, if you exclude Rings of Power. Mario can swoop in and effortlessly dominate the box office just by avoiding race swaps with mulatto gingers. It's easy to learn the lesson, but hard to implement it.

It obviously is. If we didn't have a black vice-president, wages would be up because Americans hate minorities. This is also why economic growth was stronger under Trump than under Obama. It's unconscious, but people work less hard and less efficiently when they are consumed with racial hatred for the executive.

If you were to ask people, they would not acknowledge it and most do not even know it. This is how unconscious bias works. But it is very real, and illustrates the deeply racist nature of most Americans. They will go so far as to unconsciously - just as a default, superficially inexplicable condition - make themselves poor just to lash out against powerful minorities.

The overall story arc wasn't a problem, it's that there's a bunch of things going on besides the core soap opera story of the Rise of Darth Vader(which is what the prequels were about when it comes down to it).

The OT was basically a fairly focused soap opera about the Skywalker family with the Galactic Civil War as the backdrop. Prequel trilogy was similar, except very unfocused. Kept deviating into exposition or side stories.

Disney and Lucasfilm owe a Wookie life debt to Bioware for making Mandalorians more than a token costume. At the end of the day, the Jedi Civil War was done almost entirely without Sith influence: young Knights pissed off that their elders were fiddling while the galaxy burned at the hands of a Mandalorian uprising. The elders had their reasons, of course, and I do wonder if part of that reason was letting the Mandos overextend themselves, fail horribly at governing, and cause the galaxy to welcome the Jedi as liberators.

312 287 Sorry Nova Local. You'll have to give me a link to believe that. Those movies had huge box office and I just do not believe that the audience was primarily male. I never lined up at midnight to see one of those movies but I certainly saw them. 339 How Citibank or anyone could arrive at such a number is, well, a really really good question.

The method is probably pretty easy: take the GNP for the last 20 years, partition it into black and non-black. Notice that the ratio is greater than the ratio in the population as a whole. Assume that the mismatch can only be explained by racism. Adjust the GDP for blacks to be the same as for non-blacks proportionally. Et voila!

Did you spot the weak link in the chain of logic? I tried to help you out a little.
