Bud Light Goes Radio Silent After Dylan Mulvaney Backlash

Bud Light has gone silent after the backlash to making Dylan Mulvaney the New Face of Anheuser-Busch.

Bud Light has remained silent on social media following the announcement from transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney regarding a partnership sparked conservative outrage and calls for boycotts.
Bud Light has not posted on Instagram to its 377,000 followers since March 30 and the brand's 311,000 Twitter followers have not seen any posts since April 1.
Additionally, the beer brand has not posted to its over 7.5 million Facebook followers since March 30.
Anheuser-Busch did not immediately respond to a request for comment as to why the social media channels have gone dark but the slowdown in posts comes at the same time the company has found itself facing criticism for partnering with Mulvaney as a brand ambassador.

Bud Light's first (and last) female CEO explained that she should never have had this job, because the only idea she has for refreshing a brand is the same idea every other unqualified Diversity Hire has, which is Muh Diversity and Muh Inclusivity.

It's a cargo cult. For decades, western civilization coasted on the accumulated cultural and social capital of previous generations to keep itself going. This meant that the professional managerial class could be "successful" even if their ideas were shit, because any feedback was dampened. This led to generations who have no clue about doing their jobs, only winning the petty internal struggles for position. Now they're expected to actually perform, and they're flailing.

The first part is a lie, because "inclusivity" is never inclusive. It's explicitly exclusive. That aside, the truth of the matter is the second point - it's about trying to shift the market.

Victoria's Secret did this, too, and failed. Bud Light will probably fail. The reason for this is something like, "Our brand has topped out. We aren't gaining new market and our existing market is shrinking. Bud Light is the beer of choice for college party kids and Budweiser is old fogey beer. Those markets are reliable but declining and the decline is terminal. We have plenty of time left, but there's no way out. We need a new market to restart growth, even if it means sacrificing some of our existing market. We need to pivot the brand to attract a new market."

And that pivot is toward woke shit, because everyone in charge of these plans are stupid. With notable exceptions like Nike (who doubled down, but didn't change the focus), this plan doesn't work.

I had the unfortunate experience of having to see some of the Kelly Clarkson Show yesterday. One of her guests was some Oriental girl calling herself "Awkwafina." I looked her up and found she is a 'rapper' and 'actress' famous for a song called - I shit you not - "My Vag."

It's hard to find a non-woke razor manufacturer. I went foreign to do it. I had switched from Gillette to Dollar Shave Club for cost purposes, but DSC sucks too and always has. I did some homework and found out that DSC sources all of their stuff from the Korean company "Dorco." You can buy their stuff in quantity off of Amazon or eBay or any number of other outlets.

I buy a year's worth (or so) of razors all at once and leave them in a drawer. Costs about the same as DSC, much less then Gillette, the product is good, and the Koreans aren't particularly woke. I'd rather buy foreign than reward domestic manufacturers who hate me.

But they also make a great Grapefruit IPA. (The best to my taste).

But it's actually worse than that. I think they will lose some market share, permanently.

But those people will still drink beer. And whatever brands grow as a result, AB/InBev will just purchase that company.

People don't have to like your brand or marketing when institutional investors provide money to just buy competitors. In the end, all that matters is what institutional investors tell you to do in order to get the money.

That's why I think a company like Yuengling is a good option. It's already scaled up, it's affordable, and is an easy switch. The question is whether or not you like it.

To me, there is little difference between Yuengling Flight and Mich Ultra. In fact the former is better. The lager and Black and Tan are also good as competitors to Bud, High Life and Amber Bock.

Yuengling Light is the one that is lacking in quality and drinkability compared to major brand labels.

If you drink one bud light you won't get much of a buzz off the 4.8% but if you drink a 20 IPA at 8.% - you really don't need another beer. That Bud light is going to keep you chasing - you need two or three then you gotta pee more. It takes longer to drink that much beer unless you pour it down like Norm Petersen. Find a good craft beer brewer and patronize them.

In fact I even wrote a lengthy post on a recent food thread about it.

However, I simply listed three contributing factors.

When Bud Light is $18 a twelve pack and next to it is Local IPA at $12 a six pack, this will alter consumer choices.

When every convenient store offers 28 macro brewers and 2 micro brews, this will effect consumer choice.

When Local Brew Co. only sells their draft in growlers, this will effect consumer choice.

That's not to say things aren't changing, they are. But sone habits die harder than others.

550 Visited the Coors plant, a few years back and took pleasure in telling my trendy relatives that the hipster beer they were drinking was made in Golden Co. and just to show they were ahead of the curve began drinking Bud Lite.

551 Here in Tennessee, I see several local beers picking up market share.

YeeHaw out of Johnson City is widely obtainable at reasonable prices (but still higher than value brands).

Sweetwater out of Atlanta is fairly widespread.

Sierra Nevada and Sam Adams are mid levels that are wide spread.

There are emerging competitors, but to your average stop at the store for a six pack guy, they still have trouble making inroads into widespread popularity.

Ultra, Bud Light, Miller Lite, and Coors Light make up 80% of my sales to the average fella at a ballgame outside of the female portion of the customer base that largely choose Ultra or a hard seltzer.

Among the younger crowd, Sweetwater IPA and other craft beers sell significantly better.

PBR is brewed by coors.
I honestly can't remember what chased me off from them but I ran like hell.

Sierra Nevada (chico CA brewed so probably woke) and my local brewery are my only beers now.

I'm looking into a trip to Reno monthly for a BJ brewhouse keg and going to aquire a kegarator.

Damn beer drinking has become a pain in the ass. Might just give it up entirely. Become a connoisseur of water.

And my guess is that going woke will help Andhowsyourbush survive, because they will be supported with ESG and DIE money from donors. I agree that corporations go woke, because they are going broke. But big influential corporations will not continue to go broke after going woke, because they will be used by the ESG and DIE companies as propaganda institutions. Just like they have been using the NFL for years after the Summer of George Floyd, just like they have been using Hollywood for at least a decade, just like they are using Disney.

And, as Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing noted earlier, the right does not have the will or the stamina to keep boycotts going for more than their short news cycle attention span. The NFL is doing fine after going full BLM, same with MLB. Same with Disney after full sexualization of children. The amusement parks should be empty, yet they are full.
