Shawn Fleetwood and Mollie Hemingway: Voter Suppression Is Very Real. It's Just That It's the Democrats Are Making Sure Republican Strongholds Don't Have Enough Ballots for All the Republican Voters.

I don't see Jake Tapper of Stacy Abrams talking much about this.

Voter Suppression Is Real And It's Not What You Were Told

Pennsylvania residents have filed a lawsuit against Luzerne County after being denied their constitutional right to vote in the 2022 midterms.

Shawn Fleetwood and Mollie Hemingway

On the morning of Election Day last November, William French went to his local polling place in Freeland, Pennsylvania, to cast his vote. But the qualified and registered voter wasn't allowed to. The disabled U.S. Army veteran was told that the precinct had run out of paper for ballots and he had to come back later in the afternoon.

So that's what he did, returning at 3:30 p.m. But the precinct still didn't have ballots. Election workers told him to return yet again. But by nightfall, it was too difficult. French has endured 17 surgeries on his destroyed leg and uses a cane to walk. But the sidewalks are a mess, and he was worried about the risk of falling and further injury.

That same morning, Melynda Reese and her husband went to their polling location in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania. But only Reese's husband was allowed to vote, and for the same reason: The precinct had run out of paper. They came back at 4:00 p.m. and were told there would be a lengthy wait.

Reese is a corrections officer and her husband's primary caregiver. He had recently suffered two cardiac arrests and a stroke. He required regular medication and attention and couldn't be left alone. Long waits were also too much to bear. The couple returned at 6:30 p.m., and saw a line that stretched so long that they knew they couldn't wait. Around 9:15 p.m., an election official called Reese and told her that ballots were finally available and she could vote. But her husband had just taken his sleeping pills and she couldn't leave him unattended.

French and Reese are just two of the thousands of voters affected by poor election administration in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. The two just sued Luzerne County, its Board of Elections and Registration, and its Bureau of Elections in federal court for violations of their constitutional right to vote.

"Voters in Luzerne County through no fault of their own, were disenfranchised and denied the fundamental right to vote. William French and Melynda Reese are two of those voters. They bring suit to vindicate the denial of their sacred right to vote, to make sure voters are not disenfranchised in the future, and to bring integrity back to elections in Luzerne County," said Wally Zimolong, lawyer for French and Reese.

Luzerne County was coal country and once a Democrat stronghold, before Donald Trump ran for president in 2016, when the county voted Republican. The county's election administration in 2022 was, according to the lawsuit, a "catastrophic failure." More than 40 precincts had an insufficient number of ballots, many running out early in the morning on Election Day. The county implausibly blamed high voter interest, but Pennsylvania law requires counties to have enough ballots for every registered voter.

Ergo, you shouldn't run out of ballots, because you're supposed to anticipate 100% of voters voting.

Election workers were sent scrambling to office supply stores for paper, and were left untrained for the disastrous day. A court had to intervene to allow a few more hours of voting. Judge Lesa Gelb wrote in her order, "Voters in Luzerne County through no fault of their own, were disenfranchised and denied the fundamental right to vote." Left-wing groups pressured the county election board to certify the election results, even though the first vote to certify failed to pass. The county election board bowed to the pressure.

You may, if you are so inclined, consider reading the whole thing.

15 Same as in AZ and everywhere else. But this is largely the fault of the state GOP parties and the GOP candidates themselves.

How hard is it for the state party or candidate's organization to make sure ahead of time that there are enough ballots, at least in the major voting areas where the Dumocraps can be expected to cheat?

Did nobody from Lake's campaign think to check the voting stations in Maricopa to ensure they had the correct ballots and enough of them? Nah, they just relied on their political opponents -- who everyone knows cheat like motherfuckers -- to do it.

Wtf?? Are we gonna do NOTHING to try to counter the Dums' blatant cheating? I'm sick and fucking tired of the GOP willingly sticking its ass in the air to be butt-fucked by the Dums.

24 I remember reading something about this same thing happening in AZ.

The way they were claiming they didn't disenfranchise voters was that they had more than enough ballots to cover all registered voters in the county, plus some. But the catch was they'd send 50,000 ballots to a precinct that was historically Democrat, even if they only had 2,000 voters, but then send 1,000 to a Republican area they knew had 10,000 voters. That way any case could be thrown out, since they technically followed the law.

What's awesome about this is that it lets them win twice.

If you don't have enough ballots, you disenfranchise people. If you do have enough ballots, then surely turnout won't be 100% and so then you have some free ballots to fill out however the machinery would like to see them filled out. Then those Bonus Ballots can be stuffed into the box.

Win/win. Corruption's a bitch.

Yea, but the issue wasn't the machines themselves. It's that the voting stations didn't have enough proper-sized ballots. That should have been easy to check the day before. What you don't do, is what Kari Lake did. When shit starts going sideways, you don't predict victory once a certain group of early votes not yet counted go your way.

You send staffers into these fucked up polling places, in real time, to document not being able to vote. You do it all across the state. And you get that shit out before the final results are tallied. You create a pile of shit too big to be ignored.

Because once that score goes up ... just like in sportsball ... that result will not be changed.

76 I like how, for the past 50 years, anytime a Democrat filed a lawsuit to keep the polls open--even for the weakest of reasons--, it was automatically granted.

But, in 2022, for the first time i can ever recall, the judge in AZ found no reason to keep the polls open.

Really odd, right?

Bingo. That was the big takeaway from the Kari Lake lawsuit, IMHO: Maricopa county was a shitshow of mismanagement and incompetence. My assumption is that it's that way everywhere, which is why the GOP has no interest in cracking down on this stuff: their side would be just as guilty as the dems. Lots of questions would be raised about why certain expensive systems were purchased, where all the money went that was set aside for training officials and volunteers, etc.

79 The only way I can see to fix it - and this won't be popular here (pun intended) - is minimize the popular vote. Thus smaller elections.

As in, go back to US Reps elected by the populace, and Senators appointed by Legislatures. I'd be just fine, once that system was in place, by skipping Presidential elections entirely and kicking it to the House and Senate. Should take about a week.

At the State level ? Same kinda' deal.

197 I think, on a related topic, that if Trump was retiring from political life, he could conceivably stay in florida for the rest of his life ... or until a democrat governor evicts him ... or a federal swat team takes him... but as a presidential candidate, he has to travel around and you know the news networks are going to make sure presidential debates are in NYC.

so, he's a political prisoner. they'll probably humiliate him for a bit before having his cell cameras malfunction.

but, you know, at least with president desantis....if we can fight voter fraud, get to 270, etc etc...seems to not be a Graham/McConnell bitch ass loser. at least that's what it seems like right now. at this moment.

198 More evidence of how the dem scheme is working. Voting machine failure in heavily GOP populated precincts in Arizona in 2022. In Michigan in 2020 it was the arrival of thousands of blank ballots to be turned into actual ballots behind cardboard covered windows.

There is more of course. We now have identified also where and how the excess ballots were delivered in Arizona in 2020. Biden did not win Arizona in 2020.

Lake's lawsuit gets to continue in Arizona. The walls are closing in. Why do you think Trump was indicted? Too much bad news for the regime.

200 I'm an election officer. I can tell you that my county in VA does not allow this to happen, at all. We know exactly how many are in our precincts, how many voted early or requested absentee, and we *still* provide 20% more ballots than what we think is outstanding. We use preprinted ballots that are marked and then scanned, so we have the literal paper for the trail in case of a recount.

During early voting, if we ran out of a precinct's ballots (we had ballots for all precincts in the county) we would literally print one out from the machine used for blind voters. No one is ever turned away.

One, The Courts are loathe to make any rulings that effectively overturn any election results no matter how much evidence exists of cheating

Two, The Republicans should engage in Ballot Harvesting and all the other tricks that the Democrats engage in, but should also be advised that should they WIN any race, the Democrats will scream bloody murder and have the election overturned

236 Daddario has magical cans otherwise leaves me cold.

Honestly - I think it's her face. She's a pretty girl. But its just kind of - sterile - for lack of a better word. Or maybe frigid.

Now look, she's a one. But Hollywood scale is a tougher scale.

There are so many ballots coming in from so many varied and disparate sources, all with no audit trail or any way to possibly validate or verify them that, pretty much no election going forward can be said to be legitimate.

253 I strongly suggest that elections be changed such that counting of the ballots be done after all the ballots (statewide) have been collected, even if this means they sit on them for a few day until all the military ballots come in.
Then lock the doors and start counting, only to emerge when all the ballots are counted. NO preliminary counts should be allowed out of the counting hall, only the final counts.
This will end most of the catchup vote harvesting, and those "magic caches" of votes that appear by "magic".

So I would say, feel free to say "read the whole thing," but only when that is a sincere recommendation that the whole thing is worth reading.

A reminder for those not aware, it was found rather quickly that the g/f, who was out of the country at the time of the attack, had listed the FBI as an employer on loan applications.

270 So, ran out of paper in addition to:

TimesLeader dot com: Luzerne County mail ballot tallying to continue today, May 18, 2020

"Due to a staffing shortage, Luzerne County did not complete tallying of most mail ballots on Election Day Tuesday, leaving the lion’s share — 11,000 — to address today, officials said.

...County Controller Walter Griffith said ... “The administration knew the amount of mail ballots days ago and made no provisions to address staffing concerns. This is unacceptable,” Griffith said. "Crocamo said the main priority is processing the ballots accurately — not speed. She also said she was not involved in the election board’s unilateral decision to stop the mail ballot processing around 6 p.m. While it is unlikely all 11,000 remaining ballots would have been counted that evening, continued processing would have reduced the number of ballots outstanding, she said. Crocamo also added that the board was aware of the number of workers assigned and did not raise any concerns to her."

Very convenient.
