Newsom Nightmares

newsomflg 1.jpg

This is how Newsom's new logo copies from his Twitter feed.
Of course, the original is much more inviting

Great news! Gavin Newsom is not running for president! He is just going to save Democracy from Evil Republicans via a new national PAC!

April Fools! He's really running for president!

Just the News:

Gavin Newsom launches political organization to oppose Republican policies in red states

We've all been waiting for this!

*

Do you think David Reaboi is right? This is a tough position:

Low IQ replies indicate you think I *like* this guy, or that I want him to win? He's the scariest, most evil Dem to come along in years. But he would absolutely crush a totally inarticulate guy with 100% name ID who's despised by more than half the country--and if you're honest with yourself, you know it, too.

Trump can be articulate. But he is not typically a linear thinker (one of the things that has sometimes been a strength). A lot of people don't understand or appreciate his typical mode of communication.

*

Incidentally, you may or may not remember that Michael Schellenberger ran against Gavin Newsom for Governor of California in the recall election. He said a lot of sensible things. One of his journalistic specialties had been the inanity of some "green" energy policies (particularly those in California). His articles on these issues are very articulate.

Fast forward to current topics in the news, here he discusses how some discoveries during the Twitter Files project got personal:

Some of Newsom's Policy Highlights in California

Is it a good idea to make the rest of the nation more like California? Newsom says Republicans are too "authoritarian". Think this will lower gas prices in California? I heard on the news a few weeks ago that a Canadian outfit just bought an oil property in the Central Valley. Wonder if they will be selling gas in California?

*

This one hurts right now:

walking in flood.jpg

Lois Henry:

Renato Soto wades through water in front of the New Life Church of God in Lamont in 2017. It was the third time that year the town was flooded by Caliente Creek. Flooding is a problem in Lamont and other small valley towns whenever streams see excessive runoff. But Gov. Newsom's administration has pulled $40 million that was earmarked for valley flood projects from its proposed budget.

Photo by Henry Barrios used courtesy of The Bakersfield Californian.

Flooding in 2017 was NOTHING like it is this year. Additionally, Newsom has failed to spend the money set aside for new reservoirs - both for flood control and to store water for drought years.

Some towns have raised local taxes for their own flood control. But dangling state money then yanking it away seems cruel. Of course, Newsom has squandered a reputed budget surplus.

An added feature is that the way-behind-schedule and way-over-budget high speed rail construction that has just been started is flooded in parts of the area where money could have been spent to prevent flooding. And why did they route the rail line where they knew the ground had sunk (due to pumping ground water because no new reservoirs had been built to supply water)?

*

Newsom signed legislation in 2020 creating the first in the nation reparations task force.

Let's see how that's going.

*

Newsom has been conquering homelessness for a long time now! That's one reason so many people are leaving the Bay Area!

For a while, Newsom gave homeless people bus tickets out of San Francisco. That policy expired. Now, ultra-expensive housing is being built for the homeless.

Wouldn't you rather live in California than an icky Red State? Don't you want all Red States to have California Values? Newsom's hair is so slick.

6 I know everyone think because CA is a hated state, he'd lose nationwide, but honestly I could see this evil son of a bitch be their next Obama. If Biden can win, so can this guy.

I dont think anyone really buys into "Biden is a moderate", so a very outwardly liberal Democrat can easily win a national election right now. Most of why Biden has low ratings is simply his obvious mental impairment.

There's two competing theories with what's going on the US. Some people think its election fraud and we're still a right-leaning country. I'm more in the camp that we're just not the same country we grew up in and it's now more center-left. And that's now showing up in how we vote.

Upper-middle-class whites have been trending to the left since the 90s. 9/11 halted that trend and pushed them to the right for about six years or so (the so-called "security moms" and such), but that ended by 2008 and Obama.

The problem is that the GOP continues to believe that it can win that group over by projecting moderation and "competence," which isn't the case.

Two years is a long time, but if one person, who has little chance of winning the general, is sucking up all the air , I don't see how it will work in the positive fashion for Rs. Bottom line, Rs are more splintered than Ds. And as long that is the case, Rs can't win. Anything.

The problem is that the GOP wants Democrats to win.

We saw it in the mid terms. Mitch pulled funding from Arizona and endorsed Murkowski in Alaska.

Not one single written plan for how to deal with inflation was anywhere to be found.

They HATED that they won in 2016. That's why they investigated the president we elected, and why we didn't get any meaningful legislation except eventually tax cuts that will expire.

The problem is they hate us. It was the TEA Party give them victory so they can betray us part II

It does not matter who the candidate is. They are convinced that the evil Republicans are anti their issue and only a Democrat administration will pay attention to them. Which is true actually. That the other 2/3 rds of the country disagree with them does not enter into the equation.

Yeah well the particular right/left distinction you're making is not useful. Even if your use is definite, which it seems not to be.

Voter fraud has shown that neither party puts forward planks that have national support. Neither party.

DJTs +70mil votes shows that there is a dominant electoral coalition available. A dominance as great as Nixon's own coalition.

Both parties hate the members of that coalition and the policies.

If there were true elections the center of gravity would be around DJTs policies on the federal level.

GOP "conservative" economics disqualifies them from national relevance. DEMs "liberal" social policies disqualifies them.

Neither party has any ability to field winning national pols on their policies.

The country on the whole hasn't moved much over time.

74 So I'm working my way through the long essay Ace posted yesterday by Siegel entitled A Guide to Understanding the Hoax of the Century.

He puts the pieces of the disinformation puzzle into place with a compelling historical perspective from 9/11 forward.

It makes one wonder if the large scale manipulation of public opinion and control of the accepted narrative renders actual election results meaningless. He stresses the strategy used against the political "Right" is a counterinsurgency. Ace was right, it is worth a read, if you so choose.

75 The Democrats are going to let the Republicans get rid of Biden for them. The House is demanding that the Archives turn over the documents found in various Biden locations including his garage. His garage! If (when) these turn out to be classified, that Hunter had access(which will surely be the case), that they are related to payments from China, they will have grounds to impeach Biden. However, they will likely let him withdraw quietly to his Delaware mansion. Then put Harris in the chair in the middle of primary season against Newsom.
Voila!

I don't want to start another T vs D squabble, but my reasoning is that T generates such polarization that he has no shot at the middle. The media are trying hard to put D in that same category, but so far, I don't think they're successful. T is in a class by himself. IMHO.

Newsom is just greasy and empty down to the gel-marinated roots of his hair. IOW, he's an influencer, and these days, that seems to be enough.

It is actually unthinkable to propose this in CA. It is electoral suicide. Yet it is happening. CA is the state that saw mexicans ethnically cleanse black neighborhoods by "direct action".

I suppose some Rube Goldberg explanation for how this is possible in a state with democratic elections can be constructed.

I suppose.

90 Yeah, the "MAGA" concept is not xenophobic. My guess is 80% oppose the open borders policy we have now (but many have no clue how bad it is, since they watch MFM).

Same with "most favored nation" China and their closed markets, their massive pollution, their theft of our intellectual properties, their torture/killing of the "other", and their unaccountability of releasing Covid and hiding it. Yet Biden faces zero repercussions for taking millions in bribes and opening our markets for them.

And how many Americans really want teachers pushing gay sex and "non-binary" BS on the children. Again, my guess is maybe 70% are against even the mild versions of pushing the trans ideas into vulnerable kids' heads.

But the power of censorship, and flooding the zone with the left's Narrative, is overwhelming ... along with their destruction of any group that gets some momentum against them (like the Tea Party did).

Newsom is scary for one reason only: he is THE Golden Child of the Deep State.

It ( the recall) was not ‘permitted’ to happen.

Yeah, as I have read it, Christians avoid the real "tribulation" by being in the "gathering together". Real Christians are not on earth for the "end times". IF Christians claimed their rights as sons of God, we could rise above the earthly evil.

But the OT is for our learning, and we learned there are often times when God's people were just a remnant, and they even had to hide in caves at times. So given the commie pope and lesbian protestant ministers, it will require a real Awakening to bring liberty back.

He (or it) will challenge this statement and argue that he (or it) is the realist and that everyone else is delusional or a GOPe symp to believe otherwise.

He (or it) has gotten the message that just insulting people to make them feel bad is a good way to get banned.

224 I suppose some Rube Goldberg explanation for how this is possible in a state with democratic elections can be constructed.

1.5 million voter registrations were recently ordered by a judge to be thrown out by Los Angeles County. Trump would've won California in 2020 if all of those were Dem votes (which is a reasonable assumption). And that also covers why they easily got signatures to recall Newsome but the actual election went wildly the other way.

227 The Oil & Gas industry has to be the most investigated industry sector of all times. No one has ever found anything.

California's just covering for the fact that they made the idiotic decision to demand a unique formulation of gasoline, which walls them off from the rest of the world gasoline market.

Every time a refinery in California needs maintenance, gas prices spike, since you can't bring in gasoline from elsewhere.

Why not adopt the election plan of the Libertarian Party? "At least we have our integrity" No actual wins, so the money (other than the bucks sucked off by Henchman and the LP Nomenklatura) was not wasted on compromise positions, right? No compromise.

Actually the LP party election plan is sort of like the business plan of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom. Somehow I expect a Rove plan to be very similar.

The original strategy in the late sixties and early seventies was pretty realistic in the LP realized they had more power if they allied with one of the other parties, and chose the Dems over the Vietnam war issue. Unfortunately this led to a lot of folk who couldn't make it as a Dem gravitating the LP, and turning it into Dem lite and also focusing on cementing the LPs position as America's third largest political party. Perot's run was what caused the most problem with ballot access

The Mises caucus is more focused on results and per Michael Heise, they are going to try to make goals for this election cycle, instead of "Freeing the world in our lifetime"

The drive "run like a Libertarian" is an interesting move, since it focuses on local elections instead of state and federal

As I pointed out elsewhere, that whole "drawer 3," or whatever they called it, where people were allowed to cast ballots the day of, that were supposed to be validated later, they calculated there were something like 30K voters in Maricopa Co. who voted that way, but when they counted all the drawer 3 (I don't remember what they called it), there was something like 70K ballots.

Lake was expected to take something like 65-70% of those same day votes, but when they counted them, it turned out to be more like 52-48, or something like that.

If your opponent has a cheat to every strategy you try, all they need is a few of them to succeed, and they win. It's impossible for you to anticipate exactly how they're going to cheat, 100% of the time.

yeah, I don't think everyone really wants to count on China, even though the US has been inflating like crazy. But USA wants a digital currency so they can track every move, and cut off credit to "deplorables".

Jerome Powell said almost a year ago "there can be more than one reserve currency". World Trade in other currencies has been going on for a long time, but USA has been the majority (70-75% maybe?), and it is not called the petrodollar for nothing.

It took Biden's globalists to push China/Brazil/Saudis/India/Russia together. (though the idea of the BRICS is not new)

289 I don’t think the fraud is ironclad but it’ll be awfully hard to overcome. PA MI AZ are hopeless… the cheating there is so ingrained and they have D governors and legislatures. The electoral arithmetic after that means an R has to pull an inside straight of GA (where MAGA republicans now go to die in statewide elections) VA (really purple), NV (massive fraud there to deal with) and NH. Long uphill slog….

Well, it really depends on what issues, there are some areas that do overlap in interest, like property rights and constitutional carry. Mostly though it is the thought that a lot of city council and school board and elected clerk positions are often uncontested, or won by miniscule vote counts and it might be a better idea to run for those because they are winnable.
Local elections are more personal elections than state, which tend to be tribal in outlook. Shaking hands work better in a local election, but asking for someone to essentially "leave their tribe" to vote for the loonies that run candidates who look homeless and wear boots on their heads is a stretch

that gets back to the whole "is focusing on principles more important or is getting concessions and then dropping out better use of the money"

Under the old management, it was principles all the way, and that bothered me. Supposedly under the new team, they are thinking that getting some concessions is a better value for the money than principles and a total loss.

If I give a twenty the main party will send me a photo and a nice form letter maybe.

Whatever the strategy, I have no way of knowing what's going to "work" and what won't. I like the idea of challenging local races, especially school boards.

I don't mind situations like what happened in AZ (even though it ultimately didn't matter), where the LP candidate dropped out and endorsed Blake Masters. I suspect what we're going to hear is a number of LP folks who will be saying things in a variety of races that indicate where and WHY they won't support the R candidate, and wouldn't advise their voters to cross over. That could have an impact. If/when it does indeed, cause a R candidate to lose.

Hardcore LP aren't going to vote GOP or Dem unless they want to. Saying they are splitting the ticket is like saying the small town next to the bigger city is stealing all the city's tax revenue. (this is a perennial problem in Oregon, apparently) This is the pretext for ballot access laws, by the way.

Of course the LP is not organized in lockstep with the central committee for some reason, and it would be up to the candidate to make that decision. I expect it would be a judgement between the idea of running for oneself or running for the party or running for the community, and what serves the goal the best.

Posted by: Kindltot at April 01, 2023 01:55 PM (xhaym)

323 Some newb says "No one is mentioning states that get us to 270". Here's one: Virginia.

I've read (probably here) that the Dems didn't just steal 5 states in 2020 - the 5 where they did it openly, stopping the vote-count & sending Republican vote-counters home - they stole at least 6 or 7, including Virginia.

One year later, Youngkin and his team swept the state-wide offices and took the House of Delegates, going from 48 to 55 out of 100. They're very likely to win the state Senate this year, which is now 21/40 Dems, and would have done it already except elections are every four years.

How did Youngkin do it? I've read that it was mostly because his team made sure that every single polling place had competent Republican poll-watchers with competent lawyers on speed-dial, and that was enough to overcome the usual fraud, given the actual Republican leanings of the state.

Also, is Arizona really hopeless? Republicans challenging the last election have had some judicial victories and a lot of obvious Dem cheating has been revealed. Overturning the 2022 elections may not be possible, but getting elections cleaned up should be doable. And that would suffice.

325 David Reaboi: If Trump gets the nomination, this guy is gonna run over him like a freight train

This statement tells me that David Reaboi is like 99% of the rest of the pundits on the right, who are still clueless as to the current situation in the country with regards to the completely corrupt and fraudulent voting system. Not to mention, he is completely wrong about President Trump's popularity.

In 2020, President Trump increased his vote total from 2016 by 17.8% (11.2 million votes.) He increased his black vote total by 96% (1.2 million votes). 74.2 million total votes was the most in American history. He likely won in a landslide, which is why the Deep State rigged the election & stole it. President Trump achieved this while being no less "divisive" ("50% of the country hates him") as he is today.

The fact is that there is no Republican candidate who can beat the Deep State machine in 2024. None. Any pundit claiming one can is lying & shilling for their particular candidate. There is no path to 270 electoral votes for a Republican candidate after the Deep State stole the Arizona Governor election. Flipping GA & VA only get the count from 232-306 to 261-277.

Posted by: Blago at April 01, 2023 11:12 AM

My theory is that the 2016 election results reflect the current state of the country, as the Left so compeltely underestimated Donald Trump and his appeal across the country -- and Hillary Clinton's lack of appeal -- that they did not bother to put their cheat machine completely into effect. Thus we saw states which we thought were deep blue flip to Donald Trump by the slimmest of margins: Michigan (10,000 votes), Wisconsin (22,000 votes), Pennsylvania (44,000 votes).

Without the cheat machine in effect in those states, they are toss-ups. With the cheat machine, they are deep blue. 2016 results exposed that.

That said, I do agree with you that the country is moving towards center-left now and further left going forward. Due to boomers dying off, small Generation-X electorate and Millennials and Gen-Z electorates majority left-wing. Which means there will be less of a need to cheat going forward.

333 "Flipping GA & VA only get the count from 232-306 to 261-277." That's more than 3/4ths of the way to victory. Flipping GA, VA, and AZ is enough to win.

As noted above, I think VA, with Youngkin in charge of preventing cheating, is already a likely Republican pickup.

I'm guessing having Antifa attacking police with firebombs in Atlanta is helping the Republican vote in GA. And Reps in GA and other states have one big advantage in 2024 over 2020. If Dem vote-counters say "let's knock off for the night and come back in the morning", they know now that the correct answer is "Hell no! You can go home, but we're staying until the count is done." I assume they'll all have sleeping bags and coolers full of food and drink next time.

As for AZ, if the Republicans can prove the 2022 election was utterly corrupted, courts are unlikely to reverse the results and kick out the Dems who were supposedly elected, since "utterly corrupted" does not quite prove it was stolen. But they ought to be willing to order changes that would clean up the system and prevent it from being stolen in 2024.

Posted by: JoeF. at April 01, 2023 11:28 AM

My opinion is that all elections from 2020 onward are pre-determined for the Deep State. Whoever they want to win will win. The only thing they need to worry about is how much they need to cheat to win. They were caught off guard in 2016, lesson learned. They were caught off guard again in 2020, but had all the back-up plans in place to execute in the middle of the night to ensure the steal.

So if the Deep State wants Gavin Newsom as next President, he will win the election. It will just be a matter of how much they have to cheat in each state to give him the required 270+ electoral votes. If he falls short anywhere -- such as in the 5 states they had to shut down in the middle of the night for Joe Biden in 2020 -- they will simply ratchet up the cheat machine in those states.
