The city got scammed into scheduling a reception and signing a trade agreement with a fictional country made up by an internet troll.
It's a textbook case of an overseas scam -- except the victim was an American city. Officials in Newark, New Jersey were initially thrilled to partner with the Hindu nation of the United States of Kailasa-- the only problem? The country doesn't exist. After hosting "delegates" from the made-up country at a formal ceremony in January, City Hall has now admitted the whole thing was a scam led by notorious Indian fugitive Swami Nithyananda. Newark officials said the agreement only lasted for six days and was rendered "baseless and void," adding that no money was exchanged in the ceremony. ... During the signing ceremony on Jan. 12, New Mayor Ras Baraka told the fake delegates: "I pray that our relationship helps us to understand cultural, social, and political development and improves the lives of everybody in both places."Kailasa is supposedly a Hindu country... located on an island off the coast of Ecuador. A Hindu country off the coast of Ecuador? Hindus have a colony in South America?!?! Sure, why not. Go with it, City of Newark. I mean, it sounds like one of those fake countries they make up for on cheesy TV shows or Marvel movies, but go with it.

A friend of mine is from Jordan. He tells me his cousin got accepted into Sweden as a refugee (from what?!?). They gave the cousin a stipend and a free apartment.
He found a Swedish girl to live with and started renting out his apartment. He went back to Jordan for a couple of weeks to get married. Swedish girl found out and kicked him out.
So...he went to Italy and found an Italian woman to live with. I'm not sure if she knows he's married in Jordan or of the Jordanian wife knows he's got a sugar momma in Italy but its all working out for him at least for now.

If you're so poorly education that you don't understand half of the questions on an IQ test from a basic reading comprehension point of view, it's going to affect IQ test scores.
IQ tests measure how well you can take IQ tests, mostly, but if you've been denied an education that gets you to the point where you can't even read the thing, it's going to affect your score.

IQ tests measure how well you can take IQ tests, mostly, but if you've been denied an education that gets you to the point where you can't even read the thing, it's going to affect your score.

I think we are very poor at measuring what we consider intelligence- which is a mixture of reasoning, spatial awareness and quick thinking.
One thing is: we do not teach our kids to think without their fucking phones.

It started very early in the 20th century and was pretty dramatic.
Seeing as it was mostly a change on the lower half of the IQ curve, probably some combination of nutrition and other environmental impacts. We would expect that to be mostly played out at some point.

I assume most of the decline people are seeing in IQ scores in America that's been recently reported are happening on the lower ends of the intelligence spectrum.
Essentially the kids of 130 IQ parents are still getting about 130, but the kids of 95 IQ parents are getting lower scores.

A spatial reasoning test measures spatial reasoning pretty well. But spatial reasoning doesn't have perfect correlation with mathematical ability, and less with other skills.
Smart people's aptitude doesn't scale uniformly, they could be stronger in reasoning than mathematics or vice versa even though these are tightly related.
Not useless as a measure but not what some purport it to be, a fuzzy measurement can still be useful.

The US Military has used a 'version' of IQ testing for decades. That is EXACTLY was the ASVAB test is. That is why the results of the test give you a range of jobs you are qualified for.. ie... a Radio Operator actually has slightly lower ASVAB requirements than a Cook (Math to do recipes for large amounts of people).
Its been pretty successful IMO.

Again per Jordan Peterson, the military won't take anyone with an IQ of less than 83, having found that the difficulty of training such people isn't worth the effort (see, e.g., "McNamara's morons" from the Vietnam War).
The SAT is basically an IQ test admixed with basic reading comprehension and a little bit of low level math consistent with doing college level work at an adequate level.

I sometimes take on-line IQ tests just to check to see if I'm slipping. They're usually of the image variety, things flipped upside or stuff like that you should recognize. But as an adult I have an advantage having spent years in a darkroom seeing images upside down and backwards. The same test I might have gotten a 120 on as a youth I get 135 in now.
As Zombie once told the story of her own experience, there's a time factor to the tests. The quicker you can do them, with the most correct answers, the higher the IQ. I miss Z.
