Firm Employed by Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee Attempted to Illegally Procure Military Files for Another Republican

This Republican was also running against a Democrat for a congressional seat.

He lost by 1.5%.

The firm is the one the DCCC paid $100,000 for just this kind of background dirt -- Due Diligence.

This illegal, fraudulent request for National Guard files failed. Most succeeded, this one was stopped.

A Democratic-aligned firm made a failed attempt to obtain personal information from the Army National Guard on at least one House Republican candidate, according to a document obtained by POLITICO.

It's the same firm that the Air Force has identified as securing the unauthorized release of multiple House GOP candidates' records last year.

Abraham Payton of the research firm Due Diligence Group attempted in August to obtain the personnel records of Colin Schmitt -- a GOP member of the New York state assembly -- from the Army National Guard, according to a copy of the request form that Payton filed. Schmitt, who's still an active National Guard sergeant, lost by less than 1.5 percentage points to Rep. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.) in their November battle for New York's 18th District.

This scumbag is the former research director for the Democratic group American Bridge -- which is the scumbag David Brock's fundraising group.

The attempt to obtain Schmitt's personnel file comes as House Republicans dig into a broader investigation of military records handling after Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and Zach Nunn (R-Iowa) revealed the "unauthorized release" of their Air Force records to Due Diligence last year. The firm's pursuit of documents on GOP candidates from a separate military branch indicates that Due Diligence cast a wider net than previously known.

And Schmitt is pointing a finger directly at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for the attempt to obtain his personnel data. The House Democratic campaign arm paid Due Diligence just over $110,00 between January 2021 and December 2022, according to Federal Election Commission records.

"It appears that a coordinated campaign to target myself and other Congressional Republicans across the country who serve or have served our nation was for political gain," Schmitt said in a statement, blaming the DCCC for "the illegal use of my social security number to attempt to gain access to my private military records."

Question: The Air Force knew these fraudulent records requests were being made by this firm.

Why is the military not making an issue of this? Why did they only start conducting their own investigation when Republicans started to scream about this?

They alerted the actual people affected -- and that's as far as they went.

It sure seems like the military is consciously covering up for their Democrat pals. It sure seems like they believe that they routinely hand over sensitive personnel records to Democrat smear groups, and don't want to probe too hard into it.

But don't worry: Merrick Garland's DOJ is on the case, boyyyy!

"We're aware of the concerns raised, and the Department of Justice has been communicating with the U.S. Air Force about this matter," a DOJ spokesperson in a statement Sunday.

Then they refused to comment on the status of any investigation. I'm sure they gave it to their Top Men.

Here's how the scumbags attempted to create a legal defense for themselves, should they ever be prosecuted:

Payton indicated on the form requesting Schmitt's records that he sought them for benefits and employment purposes. The form also indicates that Payton had Schmitt's social security number at the time of his request.

...

According to a copy of the military records request Payton filed, he sought to obtain Schmitt's "releasable/redacted copy of Official Military Personnel Files (OMPF)" in August of last year.

Payton sought the information for the stated purpose of "Benefits," "Employment," and "Other," to which he explained in the line below: "Services, awards, disciplinary history/records relevant to applicant's qualifications for (potential) position's duties, pay, and benefits."

You see? He can say, "I wasn't lying, I was trying to get these records to see if he was eligible for employment. In the US Congress, I mean. I was just conducting my own citizens background check on a potential US Congressional 'hire.'"

Not sure how that defense is going to hold up about obtaining and then using Schmitt's social security number to purloin the records.

Jazz Shaw points out that Schmitt wasn't the only Republican whose social security number the group obtained and used:

The group had also somehow obtained the social security numbers of at least three of the candidates and used them when requesting the records. This form of data piracy is something we’ve come to expect from hackers and scammers. But having the DCCC funding activity such as this takes it to an entirely new level.

The officer corps is thoroughly aligned with the deep state. It's all one team. If illegally releasing information will help the State/Party/Media Complex, they will release it. If they're caught - which is unlikely - the Complex will take care of them and make sure no consequences are suffered.

Just like everything else, it is corrupt and rotten to its core. And there are no limits. If they're called upon to release information to political hatchet men, they'll release it. If they're called upon to disregard orders given by a non-aligned president, they'll disregard them. If they're called upon to engage in domestic operations to suppress the people, they'll do it.

All for the Complex, nothing against the Complex, nothing outside the Complex.

You know what's not in there?
The reason the request was rejected.

See, it read exactly like all the other requests, that you can be sure of.

You also know what's not said here? The Air Force knows exactly who is and who is not permitted to review and approve these requests. There's a court marshall there and an officer is rolling the dice on her own because she's required to bring the charge but she knows she'll burn her promotion if she does.

This has always been a problem for me when it comes to things like oil spills in deep water. I don't advocate for more oil spills, but they are always claimed to be an unrecoverable disaster and yet the experience of WWII indicates otherwise. We dump vast quantities of oil, refined products, paint, metal, rubber, blood, etc. into the sea during that war. Oil tankers were sunk, warships and merchant vessels were sunk, airplanes crashed, submarines imploded or were blown up - the list goes on. Vast quantities of nasty shit was dumped into the sea as a result of the war, yet the sea was fine. This doesn't mean we should dump stuff into the sea for no reason or behave recklessly, but it does cause a bit of a problem for "everything is lethal to Mother Gaia" narratives.

94 The III Armored Corps, headquartered at Fort Hood, Texas, released a new policy earlier this year restricting which tank crews can name their vehicles.

The policy, which took effect Jan. 23, limits the ability to name tanks to crews who score in the highest bracket during gunnery -- a qualification meant to measure how effective a crew is in combat.

The change in policy is the result of a desire to incentivize crews to perform better during gunnery.

But a currently serving field-grade armor officer, who was granted anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the press, told Military.com that the policy could further divide the ranks.

"My immediate reaction is that this will alienate junior crews while ensuring that officers get to name their tanks," they said, adding that leaders in officer positions like platoon leader through battalion commander are often given the best gunners.

I would now tell any kid who is even contemplating a career in such a jerk off managed organization to run like the wind and be a plumber.

In a time of movie remakes and shitty recruiting, it's probably not a surprise they went back the the "Be All You Can Be" motto from the Army's most successful recruiting campaign. Unfortunately, as The Critical Drinker likes to say, it's been updated for modern audiences. As an old white guy, I was glad to be represented on screen as the 5th or 6th person shown, and occasionally in the background of group shots. Also, glad to see to icky fighting footage, like kicking in doors and clearing rooms!

Did SCOTUS take a case this session about trannies on K-12 and college teams? Or in K-12 bathrooms? If so, I believe the ruling will be a punt to the individual states (see Dobbs decision). I cannot see a majority of SCOTUS crisply defining a male and female for sports, or for government benefits, or for anything. It is too large of a minefield - the Progs will find a loophole and exploit it. Taking SCOTUS back to Square 1.

About every other year or so, the TV stations in Santa Barbara would start screaming about finding tar balls on the beaches, because those icky oil companies are pumping oil up out of the seabed from their offshore rigs and just dumping it into the ocean to kill the cute dolphins and majestic whales.

*2 weeks later*

Oh, the oil seeps from just off the beaches, and has been doing that for so long that the Chumash injuns... err, Native Americans, would gather the tar and use it to seal up their canoes. But the oil companies are still icky!

I tend to agree. But my concerns are more on the order of how incrementally "rational" things lead to unpredictable results. For example, we accidentally down a Russian jet and Putin decides to "incrementally" retaliate in such a way as accidentally spills over into Poland, which invokes Article V etc. Or Vlad decides to attack a US supply ship to send a message, which we take the wrong way and up the ante by blowing up more pipelines etc.

So many ways for sh*t to go sideways in a hot war and we have too little wiggle room not to get involved if any Magic NATO countries get involved...

Its also a case that the ocean is FREAKING GIGANTIC. Vast, almost impossible to imagine how much water is out there. Miles deep, over twenty thousand miles across. this cannot be said often enough, or printed in bigger, bolder enough letters.

TLR warning:
and y'know, I am one of those NWH people, often enough, and you have made me look at that behavior a bit. I think a lot of the time it is a reaction brought on by so many comments outlining all the laws broken, all the solutions for it, and so on, which in fairness is other people's way of dealing with the existential horror of a huge juggernaut taking aim at us and all we hold dear.
IRL, I don't really think a lot about the National Scene all that much, far too busy being happy in the moment with my so-far-not-so-bad life and being grateful for it all, as I try in my small way to prepare to continue living after the day when it all comes apart.

It saved Campbells. Now, their soup sucks warthog dingleberries compared to what they used to make, and the company is working on retooling and coming up with better flavors and more options now but it was very interesting to read about that.

308 Those interested can review the story of when the visiting Germans took Crimea and then dealt with Soviet counter-offensives there.

Ukraine has no capability to re-take Crimea, and if there were a serious attempt to do so, Russia could shut it down. Geography and military resources pretty much make this the case.

Aside from the fact that the Ukes would be seen as foreign occupiers, much as they managed to make themselves regarded in some regions of eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine as currently constituted is burdened with far more historical, ethnic, regional, and oligarchic problems and divisions than anyone seems to be aware of. But Crimea really isn't even part of that.

Everyone should take at least one proper cross-country road trip. The best way to truly experience the vastness and diversity of this country is, in my opinion, to take it slow and go see it. Don't fly over it, drive through it. Buy gas. Go to some non-chain restaurants to eat. Talk to people. This country is vast and, on balance, full of decent people once you get out of the hellholes that are our urban centers. Flying between them makes you miss out on all that.

Today's report shows annual inflation is down by a third from this summer at a time when the unemployment rate remains near a 50-year low. That is the slowest annual increase since September 2021. I will continue working to lower costs for hard-working Americans so they have a little more breathing room at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, shameless spin aside, the BLS reported inflation continues (even by thiser fake numbers)

The Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) rose 0.4 percent in February on a seasonally adjusted basis, after increasing 0.5 percent in January, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Over the last 12 months, the all items index increased 6.0 percent before seasonal adjustment.

I remember when they were a regular sponsor of Lassie on Sunday evenings. Their ads always made the soup look so inviting, a winter day or evening with snow outside and a fire in the kitchen, etc. And years later, wasn't it Campbells with the ads featuring a little snowman in cap and muffler who comes into the house, sits before a steaming bowl of their soup, and defrosts into a little boy?

I still buy their Jazzy Jambalaya and their Chicken & Sausage blends. Though I suspect the chicken in them isn't much. The late cat Marie-Antoinette loved to score human chow, but she ignored Campbell's soups. The chicken in Wolfgang Puck soup sent her into transports of delight.

And removing Russian troops and the pro-Russian governments in Uke territory held by them pre-Feb. 2022? And re-taking Crimea? And regime change in Russia? When will Biden be satisfied?
