Lori Lightfoot: Akshually I Was a Great Mayor, It's Just That Chicago Is a Cesspit Teeming With Woman-Hating Racist Homophobes
"Welcome to MAGA Country!," the voters cried, as if with one great racist Trumpian voice, and then tied a clothesline loosely around her neck and flecked some non-caustic fabric softener upon the cuff of her sweatshirt, causing her to drop her Subway (TM) egg salad sandwich as she fled for safety in the Jim Crow prison of her mayoral mansion.
Lori Lightfoot claimed she was treated unfairly during her failed re-election bid for mayor because she is a woman of color, not for her failure to curb Chicago's soaring crime rate. Lightfoot, the first black woman and openly gay mayor of the Windy City, is now also the first Chicago mayor in 40 years to lose a re-election after trailing behind in third place with only 17.1 percent of votes as of Wednesday morning. Throughout her term, she has been criticized for her soft-on-crime approach, which has led to massive increases in violence in the city, which is up 52 percent from last year and more than 100 percent from 2021. ... Lightfoot has previously attributed the fierce backlash against her to sexism and racism, with the exiting mayor now suggesting the same goes for her defeat. Following her concession speech, a reporter asked her if she was treated unfairly because of her race and gender, with Lightfoot answering: 'I'm a black woman in America. Of course.'Shut the f*ck up you stupid vile ugly incompetent hateful whore. Lightfoot has boasted to a critic that she has "the biggest d*** in the city" (she denies saying that, but has not denied having it) and has criticized white people specifically for complaining about soaring crime rates, opining, strangely, that white people were just whining about having to deal with "a touch of violence" for the first time. Under Lori Lightfoot's watch, she means. She means that white people in safe neighborhoods had previously had "safety privilege" and were just being whiny babies now that Lightfoot had decimated the police force and thrown open the gates of the prisons and sent criminals rampaging through safe neighborhoods. She actually mocked white people for complaining about this, saying they're just butthurt about "experiencing crime for the first time." On her watch. On her watch. It's yt pipo's fault for complaining about the wave of criminals she had ushered into their neighborhoods, as a kind of equal-opportunity-pillaging-murdering-and-raping program.
But yeah, it's other people who have issues with people's sex, sexuality, and race, not this squat freaky malignant dwarf mutant who is hateful towards the world at large.

Just a pretext -- the real reason for hating on her was that she was a black lesbian. And/or a Deep One setting up a satellite colony to extend the Innsmouth franchise into the heartland. This article recounts the real reasons this misshapen sack of aberrant junkpile genetics was turned out of office: she spent four years failing abysmally in all aspects of her job, including the simple aspect of just avoiding pissing everyone off. It wasn't enough that she was corrupt and incompetent; she had to add to that being charmless, obnoxious, nasty, and weird. Just a few of her many lowlights:
Lightfoot must have known what was coming on Tuesday because she laid down the race/woman card over the weekend. "I am a black woman -- let's not forget," she told the New Yorker. "Certain folks, frankly, don't support us in leadership roles." With all due respect, Madam Soon-To-Be-Former Mayor, do please shut up. You were a terrible mayor and that's why 87% of Chicago voters at their first opportunity pulled the lever for someone, anyone else -- including five black men (one of whom made the runoff) and one other black woman. Chicago voters didn't wake up one morning in 2020 and realize, "Oh, no -- we elected a black woman? Why did no one tell us? We must resist her at all costs!" No, Chicagoans saw a 52% increase in crime on Lightfoot's watch, much of it violent.
When Lori Lighfoot allegedly tried to recruit students to help her win In January, Lightfoot found herself in the middle of a controversy after the Chicago Public Schools inspector general investigated claims that the Democrat asked Chicago public school teachers to recruit students to volunteer on her campaign for school credit. At the time, the Chicago Public Schools Office of Inspector General confirmed to NBC News that it had "opened an investigation into this matter and we are currently gathering information to determine which, if any, policies have been violated."The investigation is guaranteed to be inconclusive, I'm sure.
Lightfoot was slammed as being "tone-deaf" and irresponsible after a video of her dancing on the streets of Chicago went viral. The incident, that took place at a Lunar New Year parade, came at a time when the city's crime rates were soaring.
That's not all. Lightfoot's other controversies also included the time when she sparked a major row after saying she would only do interviews with reporters of color in May 2021. The move even led to Daily Caller journalist Thomas Catenacci, who is White, filing a lawsuit. In July 2019, Lightfoot was caught calling a police union official a "clown." In April 2022, Lightfoot was slammed for saying carjackers feel "unloved" after Kwame Amoaku was brutally attacked by a group of carjackers outside his home. The attack left him in intensive care. "There are too many young people in this room that feel unloved, and we need to change that if we are going to change the trajectory of their lives," Lightfoot said at the Harold Washington Library at the time, while addressing the city's crime wave.Even leftwingers can't avoid noticing that she's just an asshole. Her two big failings were the skyrocketing crime rate and her untreated antisocial personality disorder.
Apparently she ran in 2019 as an Obama-like cypher, inviting voters (particularly guilty white liberal voters) to project on to her any fantasies of black nobility they might have, but once she got elected she dropped that like it was hot and just let her antisocial personality disorder run rampant. Meanwhile, she routinely denigrated people, white people especially, for noticing the crime rates were rising, and suggesting that they should just toughen up have have some perspective.
Mooney also said Lightfoot hurt herself by being "gratuitously pugnacious." "We like our Daleys and our Rahms. We complain about them but we say you've got to be tough to run the city of Chicago," Mooney said. "She's got that but almost in a gratuitous way. She picks fights for reasons unknown to most people." Veteran political consultant Delmarie Cobb noted Lightfoot's overly defensive approach to criticism, particularly around public safety, where she often scolded white audiences about how they were experiencing crime for the first time. Lightfoot should have focused more on explaining the issues, Cobb said, rather than dismissing as "haters" those who have attacked her over crime. "She's not taken that tack," Cobb said. "Instead, it's, 'I'm going to force-feed you into acknowledging that I've done a good job.'" On a more fundamental level, Cobb said, Lightfoot hasn't done enough to make herself "into a likable person."
... On the campaign trail, Lightfoot struggled with how to address the issue. "I know for many of you, you're feeling a touch of violence, maybe for the very first time in your lives in Chicago," she recently told a North Side crowd.A touch of violence. Lightfoot frequently invokes the sentiment, but it has struck some residents as out of touch or insensitive. Lightfoot has also privately questioned the severity of the recent crime spikes. In a text exchange with a downtown alderman previously reported by the Tribune, Lightfoot said she shared his concern about crime but downplayed how bad it has been. "I will push back and say that it was not that long ago that River North was not a nice, safe neighborhood and that is recent enough that I remember it," Lightfoot added. It's been an issue she repeatedly tried to blunt even as critics and rivals used it against her.Right, it had been more riven by crime, but was then cleaned up, and now.., you're letting it degenerate into a crime-filled pit again. What is your point, exactly? That we all return to the dust from whence we came anyway, so what's the big diff? Lightfoot also drew criticism over her handling of the case of Anjanette Young, a social worker who was forced to stand naked during a botched raid by Chicago police. The mayor's lawyers tried to withhold video of officers ignoring Young as she pleaded with them to let her put on clothes. Lightfoot falsely said she hadn't been aware of the case but later apologized and acknowledged she had gotten a detailed email about it, explaining that she simply forgot the exchange and wasn't lying.

Defending police Superintendent David Brown, Lightfoot said his detractors don't know anything about public safety, even though the chorus of critics included some of her former top advisers on crime and policing. Amid a high suicide rate for Chicago cops and concerns raised by officers that they were being overworked as the department canceled their days off, Lightfoot said they have an "incredible amount of time off." Throughout her term, Lightfoot blamed high-profile crime incidents and a spike in homicides on Cook County judges and State's Attorney Kim Foxx. But the mayor sometimes acted as a political chameleon and alienated residents with contradictory statements throughout the years, including both praising Foxx as "our great state's attorney" before Black audiences and criticizing her in front of white ones.

When McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said his company would remain in Chicago but had concerns about crime, Lightfoot said he should "educate himself" before speaking. She accused Uber of "paying off Black ministers" to oppose a congestion tax. When the Bears announced they were pursuing a possible move to Arlington Heights, Lightfoot mockingly tweeted that they should "focus on putting a winning team on the field, beating the Packers finally and being relevant past October."

If the Machine was not done with her, she'd have won the primary. The Machine is done with her, though, so she didn't. This is how Chicago politics work. The Machine does what it wants and installs their preferred people into mayor an alderman offices.

It was a grand place...bars, clubs, pubs, restaurants divey and schwanky, street festivals in all 6 weeks of summer, public parks, concert venues, rec league sports, and on and on.

The entire "biggest dick in Chicago" rant sounded so much like Lightfoot that I'd be stunned if it were fabricated. You can't just make up "Lori."
And one of my favorite things was a small one. She left a typical, Lightfoot-style insane rant on a Yelp review about one of her limo drivers.
And this is unusual - the limo company owner did not apologize and offer to "make it right," as is standard practice for a bad review. This lady wrote a lengthy response defending her driver and telling everyone that Lori Lightfoot is damned liar, and that none of the stuff she said happened, and she can prove it. It was just... very funny.

Pretty much any broadcast facility has such a thing, were you type in some key words and the server will do a metadata search against stored clips.
I've installed MAM Servers in literally every broadcast integration project I've worked on in the last 15 years.

My wife recently reverted into the "like" habit. So I've reverted into the "interrupting her each time to ask if she was 'like' that or really that" habit. She hates it but appreciates it.

I've done that too. I echo each "um" or "uh." The point gets across. I've told the kids 1) formulate the sentence first, then start talking, rather than the other way around, and 2) there's no need to fill dead air with phonemes; just stop, silently think, and then carry on. Silence in mid-speech is actually quite an effective rhetorical device, as it adds drama to speech.

I have no idea how they taught reading at school when I was in school. I learned how to read when I was about four. My older brother and my dad taught me. I was "ahead of grade level" my entire school life, and it's because I learned how to read at home before the schools got hold of me. I honestly can't remember if it was phonics or "whole-word" or something else. I never paid attention. I did my reading assignments and zoned out otherwise because I already knew it.
I thank my lucky stars that I come from a highly literate household.

For me it was definitely phonics. I distinctly remember enjoying my "Fun with Phonics" workbooks in school and I watched The Electric Company on PBS every day. Oh, and my parents also took a very active role in teaching me to read, which helped. Like you (and many of the Morons), my reading level was through the roof before I hit junior high.

I worked on mine to make it better. My step-mom had lovely Palmer handwriting as fitting for a teacher, and she hated how I learned to write. I have a handful of letters to my bio-mom from 1960's and they are all written in lovely cursive.

I went to Catholic school in 1st and 2nd grade. My first grade teacher, Sr. Gertrude, taught all us Bluebird section readers how to speed read the second semester of first grade. We had to be able to read chapter books to be in the Bluebird section. And it was actually speed reading not skimming your finger over the page to get the highlights. The point being if you can read at more than twice the speed of conversation your retention of the material skyrockets. Teachers I had at other schools thought I had a photographic memory. And before I had a stroke a few years ago I could generally read a novel in one sitting. We started out with phonics but speed reading is only possible if you know a lot of words.

In the "Shadow over Innsmouth" story, the narrator is from the Cleveland area IIRC with relatives back east and he goes to Innsmouth to do genealogical research.
By the end he realizes he's one of them and is going to bust his even more fishy cousin out of an asylum to join the rest.
So the Innsmouth look is even closer to Chicago than Massachusetts.

Good for you. It's a pleasure to get a nice card or letter from someone (The older people all send cards because there were no computers when they were younger) and it's even better when the writing is elegant and legible.

I worked on mine to make it better. My step-mom had lovely Palmer handwriting as fitting for a teacher, and she hated how I learned to write. I have a handful of letters to my bio-mom from 1960's and they are all written in lovely cursive.

A girl I knew in high school had nice cursive writing. I teased her once about a line in a report where "Telemachus was" filled out enough of her line that they were the only two words, she had to put the next word on a new line.

We keep looking for a reason to believe. Human nature, I guess, but doesn't anyone remember stories of the agency from family, maybe grandparents, years ago? I'm older than 29 so I recall the then old, old folks talking about Chicago, Philly and other big cities & how gansters were often viewed more favorably than the "crime fighters." How about more recent written history - 10, 20, 30 years ago - of the agency and its overseers? For now, it's still available & it's always wise to study history.
We're ran by dynasty families, those with ties from FDR & his administration, those who've somehow amassed "global funds." The goal is civil society of which the elite will retain control. All, imho.
