The Morning Report — 2/16/23

deivebomber.jpg

Good morning kids. Let's start of with a chuckle. It's a nervous one for sure, but hey, given everything going on I'll take it. Mop-topped Marxist muff-munching press flack Karine Jean-Pierre, in defending her boss, claimed that Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants is "the best communicator we have in the White House."

And just to prove her point, what did Biden do? He referred to Wes Moore, Maryland's first black governor (and a possible Democrat replacement nominee in '24) as "BOY."

Well done, Joe. You may all applaud now.

On a more insane note, every now and again, you see one of these disturbing pieces about what you should be doing now to prepare in the event of some kind of societal collapse. In the past, most of us looked at these kind of things like buying gold or stocking up on non-perishables and water, and of course firearms with kind of a raised eyebrow. Not anymore, given the times we live in and the state of a world, and our own nation, that is growing more insane and unpredictable by the day. Just such a piece is at the bottom of the links and linked here. I suppose it's human nature, but even someone like me who sees and reports on the collapse into near apocalyptic madness just doesn't want to accept that. I will likely live to regret it. Hopefully not.

In any case, whatever the Chi-Coms are up to, I'm betting that they won't have to fire a shot to neutralize America, or whatever the hell this nation is because it sure doesn't resemble the America as I understand it should be. The ultimate weapon to destroy America has already been unleashed.

"It looks like an aspirin, it tastes like an aspirin, but it's not an aspirin. Inside are 400 tiny time pills that go off in the body in little explosions, forming a chain reaction, and turning the person into a walking atomic bomb."

Sorry, couldn't resist the Jimmy Bond original Casino Royale quote, but for 100 years the anti-American Left have infiltrated every segment of our society, most crucially our schools, and have succeeded in turning us upside down and inside out. So, the Chi-Coms might not unleash chemical, biological or nuclear weapons on us. But what we are doing to ourselves may very well be as bad if not worse. And it's all because of the insane notion of D-E-I.

America’s security, safety, prosperity, and postmodern lifestyles are not our birthright.

They are the dividends of centuries of prior hard work, unfettered freedom of speech, disinterested research, and a meritocracy.

Tamper with any of that and the system begins to fall apart.

The United States will then resemble the miasma we see in most of the world abroad where ideology suppresses free inquiry, political correctness warps research, and tribalism trumps meritocracy.

Many of the major airlines have established racial and gender quotes for government pilot training programs.

United Airlines has set quotas to ensure half of its trainees will be minorities or women.

Since 2013, the FAA has been lowering standards for air traffic control qualifications to achieve de facto race and gender quotas.

In testimony before Congress our top military brass has bragged not of their reduction in standards for enlistment, but of their “diversity” hiring, as they purportedly ferret out “white supremacy” and “white rage.”

In sum, our government is playing with our lives as it prefers diversity, equity, and inclusion over ensuring the best qualified employees are hired on the basis of racially and gender-blind competitive tests and experience.

Lurker extraordinaire Victor Davis Hanson catalogues a litany of near catastrophic airline crashes as well as other national security blunders. Set against the backdrop of the Chi-Com balloon invasion and the catastrophe in the wake of the Ohio train derailment and a frightening picture of abject incompetence and buffoonery comes into sharp focus. And all of this has been self-inflicted in the drive for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Ohio Republican Sen. J.D. Vance on Wednesday confronted acting Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commissioner Billy Nolen over “inclusive language” guidance.

The FAA’s 2023 budget includes focuses on “racial equity” while an advisory group for the agency proposed back in 2021 that the agency replace works like “airman” and “cockpit” with gender-neutral terms like “aviator” and “flight deck. . . "

. . . Nolen also said that finding “inclusive ways” to reach “underrepresented groups” is important.

Vance pressed Nolen several more times on the inclusive language before stating that his constituents likely feel that if there is a pilot offended by a basic word such as “wife” or “cockpit” maybe that individuals shouldn’t be a pilot.

Seriously, it's a fucking miracle that airliners aren't colliding in midair on a daily basis. But if we're relying on miracles to save us from disaster, we're dead already. We can rail all we want about the size of government and whether or not all these bureaucracies do any good in protecting us in our daily lives. Even in the best of times, shit happens and the government – in theory – reacts to it to mitigate the aftermath and try to prevent problems in the future.

Okay, you can stop laughing now. Ronald Reagan's remark that "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help'" are an understatement these days. It's a combination of abject incompetence AND a tyrannical will to power to lord over the citizenry.

About the best outcome we can hope for is that their incompetence and crackpot theories of how the world works, or how they want it to work will sabotage their tyrannical proclivities and actions.

Yet this insane drive for diversity is driven by the need to identify an existential threat and enemy to their promised paradise: white people (which includes every political, religious and other group that is antithetical and opposed to Leftist progressivism).

A Fort Belvoir mom has released shocking video of her 12-year-old son being “strangled” by a girl twice his size on a school bus in Virginia and claims her son’s abuser only received a slap on the wrist. . .

. . . In the one-minute video, the girl could be seen smacking her son and grabbing him by the mouth. There was a brief exchange between the two before she grabs him by the neck. Seconds later, the girl appeared to be choking him against the seat.

“My son came home crying, and I saw the marks on his neck,” Brock said. “It breaks my heart that there are all these kids on the bus and not one decided to stand up.”

The incident happened in late January, but she posted the video through her business website on Monday. She said the response from the school to keep her child safe has been inadequate.

Brock said she not only pressed charges but had a Fairfax County judge grant a protective order against the girl earlier this month. . .

“When I got my son a two year protection order, the Judge who saw this video and pictures asked if the girl still attended the school to which I replied ‘yes,'” Brock said on her website. “The Judge was confused and asked if the school knows about this event and if they understand the severity and gravity of what happened. I asked the school why they thought suspension was enough for strangulation to which they replied, ‘We have protocols we have to follow and execute punishment according to the School’s Code of Conduct.'”

“They can’t create a safe environment for our kids if they sweep these violent acts under the rug, hoping no one hears about them,” Brock said.

I seem to recall a book from about 10 years or so ago entitled White Girl Bleed a Lot

Diversity is a hell of a drug, yo. Relax, China. If you don't depopulate yourselves first, we'll do it to ourselves soon enough.

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • Victor Davis Hanson: "Our government is playing with our lives as it prefers diversity, equity, and inclusion over ensuring the best qualified employees are hired." (see the related J.D. Vance link in the Domestic section - jjs)

16 I read the newest Victor D Hanson piece on meritocracy yesterday. This is a REAL SCARY THING. I have 2 work colleagues and a big client who started refusing to fly United Airlines simply because of United's (ironic situation when you consider the name) new hell-bent philosophy of staffing cockpits based on color and/or other diversity bullshit. Reminds me of my college days when I worked for a very brief time at the Union Pacific switching yard. . . . UP had hired a bunch of black women simply to check "all the boxes" in hiring. Damned wenches would rarely show up, would not attend training, and created sheer chaos when they did work. And focking UP laid off a bunch of good guys to get them hired. these cretin whores nearly killed at least 3 brakemen. (yes brakeMEN.. . .for all of you front holers)

Being a pilot requires a cool head and strong judgment. I was once sitting on the tarmac at SFO. The jet bridge had just pulled away when the pilot got on the PA and said essentially, "This is your captain speaking. I just got some news that affects my ability to fly this plane. I will not be taking you to Denver. I have called our operations team and they are working to find you another pilot, but it it isn't going to me. Believe me, you don't want me flying this plane, either." Then he left.

That is the person I want in the cockpit. I don't care what color or sex that person is. This goes for ATC, too. Leave the identity politics at the door. These are hard jobs and lives are at stake. They require *good* people who bother operate at their best and know when they can't. They require circumspection, something woke folk have none of.

I doubt it. Not formally, and not in black and white. Just that there is a range of applicable responses from "go to the principal's office" to "call the cops and begin expulsion procedures" and the administration will know the "right" part of that band to use in any given case to promote equity.

At the time of the novel's initial publication in 1851, Uncle Tom was a rejection of the existing stereotypes of minstrel shows; Stowe's melodramatic story humanized the suffering of slavery for white audiences by portraying Tom as a young, strong Jesus-like figure who is ultimately martyred, beaten to death by a cruel master (Simon Legree) because he refuses to betray the whereabouts of two women who had escaped from slavery.

I don't know. White kids today, going through the miserable institution called public education, have been so beaten down figuratively and literally, that they no longer have any identity other than 'bad person for being white.' Add in the severe mental illness known as gender confusion (now starting in earnest in Kindergarten!) and whites won't fight back about anything anymore. I'd like to think there will be a tipping point, but brainwashing is such a very effective means of conditioning. Especially with this young generation who have been raised and brainwashed in ways we never, ever could've imagined for ourselves at the same point in our lives.

129 This is minor as compared to the stuff in the smart phone article, but it's also a problem in consumer-grade - especially at the high end - IT equipment. I needed a new WiFi solution when I moved. The new place was on two floors and the location of the cable drops means that my equipment is tucked into a corner downstairs, far away from most of the house. To make things easier for me day-to-day, I wanted a proper WiFi mesh network.

I was left with like two choices for equipment that *didn't* require spyware a smartphone app to configure it, and those choices were lousy. I bought used commercial equipment instead, since I can manage that without having to let it spy on me. This is the other side of the "all things on your phone, nothing without your phone" stuff: this also means no privacy. At all. Ever.

I'm not so sure about that. Given that men are more susceptible to SADS in the cockpit flight deck than women; that modern technology and redundancy has pretty much eliminated the need for pilots; the likelihood that AI will be assuming even more duties than Auto Pilot and will be able to handle emergencies better; I don't think that we will see any statistically significant difference.

Which was a catastrophic, inexcusable breakdown with any number of opportunities for it have *not* happened. The copilot should have hit him with a wrench, if nothing else.

Air travel isn't perfect. Nothing is perfect. There will be accidents and recklessness no matter what. The duty of the people in charge of these systems is to take rational steps to minimize the probability that accidents occur and to keep recklessness - or stupidity - out of the system. This will never be 100% effective, but that doesn't mean that they should throw caution to the wind and chase political points instead of rationally safe operation.

144 To be frank... school buses and bus stops have been the scenes of childhood antagonisms for decades. Even with no blacks on my junior high bus there was fighting among kids, mostly centered on which stop they were picked up at.

Tribal, even then.

But I do agree the situation is more severe today and the racial element can't be dismissed. Civil war and race war are vying for first place it seems.

And there it is. Whenever anyone talks about defending themselves - because they're targets - there's always one or more folks in the same target group that discourage it.

That's going to be a big, big factor going forward. Not just the willingness to protect yourself - but the willingness to let those that refuse to do so simply suffer. To ignore their pleas to just suffer in silence, as well as their pleas for help.

Add in the severe mental illness known as gender confusion (now starting in earnest in Kindergarten!) and whites won't fight back about anything anymore. 1. A significant expansion of federal planning, general permitting, and programmatic review would accelerate the permitting process for clean energy infrastructure in the long term.

Moar Big Govt

2. Siting authority for all interstate transmission lines could be federalized with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

National Rolling Blackouts

3. The Biden administration could conduct a staff capacity, funding, and technology needs assessment across agencies involved with critical permitting for clean energy.

DIE makes this impossible

4. Congress could transfer initial authority for Clean Air Act permitting for offshore wind from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) within the Department of the Interior.

Its like Judge Shopping, but with agencies.

6. Congress could proceed with narrow reforms to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA):

272 Good morning everyone. Thank you J.J.

Saint for the day:

St. Juliana of Nicomedia (c. 270 A.D.), was the daughter of noble pagan parents, born in Nicomedia, a Greek city in ancient Turkey. Although her father was hostile to Christians, Juliana secretly accepted baptism. Her father arranged her marriage to a pagan nobleman and Roman senator. When the time for her wedding came, Juliana refused her consent to be married unless her betrothed converted to the Christian faith. Her father retaliated by mercilessly abusing her, but Juliana would not give in. Her betrothed then denounced her as a Christian before the tribunal under the persecutions of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. St. Juliana was unwavering in her faith, even after the devil himself appeared to tempt her during her sufferings. She was then publicly tortured by being burned, boiled in oil, and finally beheaded. Some accounts say she died together with St. Barbara. Many were converted to the Christian faith upon witnessing her fortitude in the face of her tortures. St. Juliana is the patron saint of sickness and bodily ills. Her feast day is February 16th.

And best of all, its consequence free. No matter how many billions lost, people killed or injured, property destroyed, reputations ruined, there is no one is legally responsible and accountable.

Unspeakable evil, and no one to point a finger at. We can just blame the AI. The worst that will happen is that they enter the AI into code review - but no one will ever question its training.

299 A good news crime story out of California!

A man who authorities say was trying to steal a catalytic converter from a truck in Palmdale is dead after being run over by the driver of that truck. A woman was sleeping inside the truck and heard the noises and thought someone was breaking in. She started the engine and put the car in reverse gear. When she felt a bump, she got out and called 911 after she saw a man on the ground.

Responding deputies detained the three other suspects, another man and 2 women. The suspect that was struck was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

‘Tired of Losing’: Nikki Haley Wants to Lead New Generation of Republicans

I think the reason Republicans have been losing for the past decade+ is because of two main things:

(1) election cheating/rigging
(2) Republicans becoming the Deep State Uniparty with Democrats over the past 20 years.

(1) has just gotten worse and worse over the past 20 years. I am not sure when (2) started, but I noticed it and left the party in 2006 with the Amnesty betrayal. That is when I knew the entire party was all talk. They compounded that with undermining the TEA Party, making it more obvious they were part of the Uniparty.

Donald Trump broke that trend by campaigning, and then governing, based on all the policies the GOP had stated they supported for decades, yet did nothing about. Ironically, I want a "new generation of Republicans" who are like Donald Trump. America-first, attacks and calls out the left, non-politically correct.

Sadly, just one future incident in a very highly populated area would make this decision look very bad. But someone likely calculated such odds as very remote. Now they can keep their fingers crossed and hope the actuary assumptions were not wrong. It’s a betting game, one that doesn’t view a high-growth business outlook. So, they play conservative. Lacking evidence that counters the possible risk, the regulators backed down. They too, like railroaders, don’t see a growth business case need. In the end, it signals an outlook for the industry -- strategically, a ‘milking’ strategy. It is legal to think that way. But then, don’t confuse it with story lines about growth.”

I think this gets the history of the Republican party backwards. The Conservative movement was a base revolt. Ruling class of the party didn't (and still doesn't) have the same interests as the common voters and wasn't particularly inclined to work on their behalf. Aside from Reagan and the more modern coalition with working class Trump voters, the Conservative movement has struggled to get the Republican party to advance Conservative goals.

The overwhelming similarity between Republican and Democrat leadership has been true for a very long time. Go back 100 years and there's scarcely any difference.

330 319 Correction to my 294 - it was only for January 2023.
2022 was the 6th warmest YEAR on record. January 2023 was the 7th warmest January on record. Global temp pause continues...

And this is only because they have corrupted the past data to make it cooler to a laughable degree. And they still can't make global warming a thing.

Yeah, and this is the reason the Climate Idiots started saying Global Climate Change, not Global Warming. They try to scare people with news about record droughts, record floods, and so on. Yet the "anomaly" areas they highlight are small considering the size of the Earth, and don't stay in the same areas forever.

The point stands.

I'm also betting it didn't cost him a penny and instead came out of a foundation or some other set-aside.

I despise these advertisements when tens of millions of normal people do more every single week.

333 The overwhelming similarity between Republican and Democrat leadership has been true for a very long time. Go back 100 years and there's scarcely any difference.

Yep, you are probably correct. I only started following politics on 09/12/2001. Been trying to educate and inform myself of all the ins and outs as well as our history ever since. But I still do not know it all.

Unfortunately, the more I learn, the worse my opinion becomes of our nation's political history. As you mention, other than Reagan and Trump, not much good to speak of our nation's politics over the past 100 years or so.

334 "A man who authorities say was trying to steal a catalytic converter from a truck in Palmdale is dead after being run over by the driver of that truck."

We need the coroner from The Quick and the Dead to walk up with his little black bag, stop ten feet away and announce "Man's dead!"

335 Even if we slash every discretionary spending line in the Federal budget by 25% we can't stop the train wreck that is coming within the next decade. And those deficits are just projected ones, you know damn good and well the actual deficits will be much, much higher.

We are fvcked.

I wonder if there is a Dave Ramsey-type plan that could be applied to the federal government debt.

I still think we need a look at each and every budget item in the federal budget like they did in the movie "Dave" to find money to stop spending.

"Do you really want to tell children they are not going to have a place to sleep at night, because you want to spend $XX million on making people feel better about a car they already purchased?"

I bet there is likely a Trillion dollars worth of items like this that could be ended tomorrow if a proper audit was done on non-essential budget items.
