New Study Confirms That Masks Did Next-To-Nothing (Or Nothing) to Curb the Spread of Covid

Weird that the Face Doilies turned out to just be decoration.

The review, titled "Physical interventions to interrupt or reduce the spread of respiratory viruses," was led by 12 researchers from esteemed universities around the world.
Published by Cochrane Library, the review dug into the findings of 78 randomized controlled trials to determine whether "physical interventions" -- including face masks and hand-washing -- lessened the spread of respiratory viruses.
When comparing the use of medical/surgical masks to wearing no masks, the review found that "wearing a mask may make little to no difference in how many people caught a flu-like illness/COVID-like illness (nine studies; 276,917 people); and probably makes little or no difference in how many people have flu/COVID confirmed by a laboratory test (six studies; 13,919 people)."
When comparing the use of medical/surgical masks to wearing no masks, the review found that "wearing a mask may make little to no difference in how many people caught a flu-like illness/COVID-like illness (nine studies; 276,917 people); and probably makes little or no difference in how many people have flu/COVID confirmed by a laboratory test (six studies; 13,919 people)."

They also found that N95 masks, which supposedly are the "masks that work," also did not work.

You might think that based on the science which has repeatedly shown that masks do not stop or even slow the spread of covid, the government, being, it claims, "science-based," would change its masking guidance to stop demanding that children be masked all day long.

You might think that certainly they would change the guidance as regards autistic children, who already have difficulty reading people's faces and also tend to be sensitive to masks.

Of course, you actually think none of these things, because you know that everything the government does is to appease left-leaning hysterical Suburban Karens, and that left-leaning hysterical Surburban Karens do not demand that we all continue wearing masks due to science, but due to their grubby, nasty, bullying religion.

And so Head Start continues demanding that four year olds, including four year old autistic kids, wear this Religious Garb in government schools.

Every word of this is so disgusting.

69 Regarding autism, Lamictal has been tried before. Spoiler alert: it didn't do anything remarkable. Fine to try it again, and who knows, maybe there's a subset of autism where it actually helps. But autism isn't one thing and anticonvulsants (including Lamictal) aren't a panacea.

Regarding masks: I work in a hospital. I wear the garb because I like being paid and eating. I yearn for the day when I don't have to bend the knee to a religion, but at least I don't have to wear it all day. Doing it to autistic kids is child abuse.

Biden did us no favors by lifting restrictions and basically saying Covid isn't a problem any more. We'll be paying the hospital bill for decades for those who partied like it was 2018 and spend their elder years with long covid.

Have a drink and go for a drive without seatbelts. Hit 120 in a school zone. Same kind of disregard for others.

Well, it did seem to protect against severe COVID in the initial numbers. Smokers were decidedly under-represented in ICU numbers, and it may have prevented the cytokine storm that caused so many early deaths. We still don't understand whether the correlation was valid or what it might have meant.

It wasn't politically correct, however, so the story was quickly suppressed and all associated information carefully deleted. Just because it might have led to a better understanding of the disease is no justification for interfering with a public health narrative. Memory holes aren't just for breakfast.

The point of a name is a unique identifier for that person. You have to know or know of the person to know his or her name. And we've given people broad latitude through out history to change their names or go by nicknames.

The hope was stopping the water droplets they floated on when someone infected coughed or sneezed. Wasn't great at that either, and with all the adjustments to masks (e.g. taking off to eat, drink) coupled with the filtering effect of breathing in and out, made your fingers a great form of transmission as well.

Oh, I know. I don't have the actual numbers in front of me but it was crystal clear when I saw them that the virus was incredibly small and the holes in the N95 mask are way bigger. I.e, there's no way in hell a N95 mask will stop airborne virus.

I read that linked article as well as the scientific article he refers to that "proves" masking works. It's about as accurate as his own assessment of the Cochrane Library study. The authors of the "proof" admit that there are significant limitations in their methodology. It was also a statistically small sample size (n=246). Aesop bases his own argument on ONE experimental study. "Masks work. 100x to 1000x better than wearing nothing. You could look it up." Well, champ, I did look it up and your argument is worthless. Let me do some math here and 1000x nothing is still nothing.

Now that bags are not used, they went to paper bags ONCE, but probably realized that it was too expensive, so went to no bags, or you have the option to buy boxes from them that you don't really own, as they replace and sanitize between visits. Expensive. I would have to spend maybe $100. I said no thanks.

So they bring out my cart of groceries with no bags and spend so much time (versus 5 minutes) picking up my green pepper, bag of carrots, milk, whatever, one by one and place it into my own cartons in the back of my car. People have lost their minds.

True. Kirk wound up in something like our 17th century, almost certainly not 100K years in the past. McCoy had to recover from frostbite, etc., yes, but by the time he realized Spock was not behaving like himself, he too should have been affected.

In any case, why would travel into the far past affect Spock, or any of them, anyway? They had not been "prepared" for their trip like Zarabeth or the Inquisitor guy. So they would not have been in alignment with the time they wound up in.

Still, it's exciting to see Spock turn from civilized logician into barbarian warrior.

It's usually inspected and adjusted by a third person, such as a nurse in an operating room. Well the tanker truck with the nitric acid spill produced brown smoke (N2O4) so that's insulting to brown people.
Thinking chemistry: most spills or fires will produce racyss black, brown or yellow smoke. Very occasionally white. Hard to get blue or red smoke. Never green.

486 I'm sure somebody has already made this point, but studies proved this about masks decades before this year and the authorities have always known that these things don't prevent transmission of airborne viruses or bacteria diseases. Always known.

Therefore they had an ulterior motive for forcing everybody to wear a bondage mask. Psychological manipulation, not a medical intervention. In fact, in 2020 The Mask boxes still stated on the back that they do not prevent transmission of viral or bacterial illness. Now they have changed it to some weasel wording about not being a medical device but it means the same thing.

N95 masks are masks designed to keep dust out which is vastly bigger than viral particles. The 95 means 95% effective at keeping dust out and also OSHA has had regulations about not being allowed to force your employees to wear in 95 some more than 2 hours in a day.

All this has been known All Along by the authorities.

And now there is evidence they do harm - I have no little tots anymore, but if I did I'd show up at the daycare saying my child isn't wearing a mask. If you force one on him, I will sue you for medical negligence and ask for criminal charges to be filed against your CEO. They'd either refuse the child, thus opening themselves up to equal access charges, or realize they were staring at both barrels of a gun. It's time to start suing these orgs left and right.
