AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:

1/15 – D asked for prayers for Sarah A. Hoyt, the novelist, who has been experiencing multiple health issues for a long time. She is struggling to do the work that needs to be done. Please pray for healing.
2/2 Update – Sarah is feeling MUCH better since the prayer list was activated on her behalf, and sends her thanks.

1/18 – Teresa in Fort Worth needs prayers for help with a decision. Her daughter, Rebecca, is having hip replacement surgery in a few hours. They are worried they are doing the wrong thing. Her hips have been causing pain for many years. It turns out her pelvic bones didn’t develop properly (she has Down syndrome) and her hips are grinding bone on bone. Because of her small stature, there is only 1 appliance on the market, and it may be too big for her. If it doesn’t work, they may need to cut off the top of the bone. Intellectually, they have explored every option, but the Mom side of her is worried that they are making the wrong decision.
1/24 Update – Rebecca’s new hip joint dislocated. She is on more pain meds. They are trying to stabilize the hip and see if it will heal. They have a Plan B if that fails. Lots of prayers needed here, for both Rebecca and her family.
1/30 Update – They are doing another surgery, to replace the ball joint part with a larger and longer piece. Prayers still needed.
2/13 Update – Rebecca is home! Now they can focus on her healing.

1/19 – FenelonSpoke requests prayers for her church, that if it’s God’s will that their financial problems be resolved so they can stay open to the glory of God.

1/20 – Doof requests prayers for family and friends of the late Mrs. Doof. Sunday, January 22 marks one year since she passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, and she is missed dearly. Doof sends heartfelt thanks for the Horde’s prayers and love and support over the past year.

1/21 – Jewells45 asked for prayers for the family and friends who are suffering after a friend committed suicide.

1/21 – Irongrandpa sent thanks for the prayers. His wife is recovering from her eye operation nicely. It looks as if there will be a substantial return to normal vision in that eye.

1/21 - Duke Lowell requested prayers. He has been dealing with Crohn’s for a number of years and it’s been untreated for the last two due to lack of insurance. There’s a significant constriction in the colon that they couldn’t get the camera past. They took a biopsy and he has a barium MRI scheduled for Friday, 1/27. He promises this isn’t the end of him, and he will be here making stupid snarky comments for a few more years, at least.

1/21 - My pimp shot my dealer could also use prayers for an intestinal bleed.

1/21 - Long time lurker, Morgan, asks for blessing upon his efforts to learn Spanish, for better sleep, and to find a church in CDMX. Blessings upon the group and moderators.

1/21 – FenelonSpoke requested prayers for her son and a roommate at school, “C”. C had been particularly kind to their son and was a nice young man. He was taken out of school and they aren’t sure why.

1/28 – Hrorthgar asked for prayers for his son. He had chest pains, that turned out to be (non-clot shot) blood clots in his lungs, which are much more treatable than a heart attack. Any spare prayers for full and quick recovery for Keith would be much appreciated.

1/28 – Comrade flounder, Disinformation Demon asked for prayers for a good friend, who recently found out her husband had been cheating on her throughout their marriage. Through marital and spiritual counseling, they had decided to persevere, which included basically telling everyone (to avoid the cycle of shame) and putting their faith in God to help them repair their relationship and strengthen their family. It takes a log of personal and spiritual strength to not just walk away nowadays.

1/28 - Tonypete asks for prayers for his daughter. She continues to make very poor life choices and now finds herself living in a hovel with bottom of the barrel roommates (like herself) and two actual pigs. The place is filthy and should be condemned. She has been blessed with all she needs to live a happy, fruitful life and yet rejects it all.
2/13 Update – Continued prayers are requested. They took a road trip and visited their daughter for a few days. She has adopted as family a wildly dysfunctional girlfriend and her parents which only adds to the already crushing burdens of her own. Tonypete fears she will be lost forever if she doesn’t begin to use the skills and values they tried to teach her.

1/28 – mindful webworker sends a few requests: Daughter may be pregnant, after 2 miscarriages. She is married to a great guy, and they would be good parents. MiladyJo has been hobbled with leg-foot pain. Local sonM is a good guy who could have better, healthier habits. Remote sonC is still estranged. He will not reply to them and they haven’t been allowed to see their two grandbabies for over a year. Prayers for the Spirit of Truth to get through the barriers of pride and anger. Prayers for family, community (online and off), nation, and world.

1/31 – Grannysaurus Rex asked for prayers for her beloved young grandson, who is struggling with anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. Pray that he continues to put his faith in God as his foundation to sustain him. Prayers also for his mental health professions to help him resolve these issues.

2/4 – Stephan requests prayers that our God-awful nation will get back on the right track.

2/4 – Sal requests prayers for her younger brother who was diagnosed with ALS. He was holding steady and enrolled in a research program, but is losing ground more rapidly now. Prayers for him and his family would be most appreciated.

2/6 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for her church’s beloved and elderly organist, Jessie, who fell at a church luncheon and has a pelvic fracture. Thanks so much.
2/11 Update – Jessie also broke her elbow, so she will miss playing at church.

2/7 – Annie’s Stew requests prayers for her step-grandson, age 17, who is experiencing life similar to Grannysaurus Rex’ grandson: anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide. Prayers for strengthened faith in God and purpose in life are appreciated.

2/9 – Jane D’Oh’s husband is still undergoing therapy as an outpatient. A couple of days ago they found out that he is paralyzed from the knee down on his left leg, so they have a neurologist appointment next Friday to try and determine the cause. In the meantime, Jane and family remain utterly grateful for all the prayers. After her husband was released from the hospital, they were told that he had been the most critically ill patient in the place and that it was a miracle he survived. The prayers helped tremendously.

2/9 – Russkiltlover asked for prayers for a co-worker who had a massive heart attack at work, and is on life-support. The co-worker was 28. He was a super sweet guy, great construction manager, and fun to work with.

2/14 – Kam Fong as Chin Ho asked for prayers for his co-worker and wife, as their 15-year-old son was killed in an accidental shooting.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

"Two words "Sharkbite fittings".

I use Sharkbites and they are great, but this plumbing will be between the first and second floor under the shower, so will be inaccessible in the future. It needs to be permanent and have no chance of leaking. I have seen Sharkbites drip a bit. Also, there is some drain work, no Sharkbites for that.

Hadrian, thank you for the offer. I'll see you at 10?

20 Easy plumbing? Propress.

Word. We had a gas stub in the laundry room, and plumbed it for use with the dryer. The plumber used one of those to put the elbow on for the extended line and valve. Thread schedule 40 iron pipe? Never again, he said.

true.

On the other hand, the medical advances which will increase her chances of a normal life are nothing but a gift from God, giving mankind the intellect to be able to develop these amazing, almost miraculous treatments.

36 Thanks so much for the prayers for our organist, Jessie. It means so much. She not only had a pelvic fracture, but she also broke her elbow in a fall at our church luncheon several weeks ago. I have visited her twice since then. This time she was out of the bed and sitting up in a chair at her home with her daughter, and was so happy to see the two congregation members whom I brought with me and she was chatting away. She's still in pain, but was glad to have communion with the church members and I was happy to that her nurse took communion too. Jessie wants to get well enough to lay again. Now we just have to have enough money to survive for her to do so as we await for several possibilities for people to buy some of our land behind the church, God willing.

44 Yay. BRCC AK47

That is an odd flavor profile BRCC is trying to tease out of the blend.

The problem I think for companies like BRCC, Starbucks and others who have to provide consistent coffee, year round, at scale, is that the choices they can make for sourcing their beans is very limited to large commercial plantations who use all of the care and craft of producing at industrial scale.

That is why they basically futz around with Columbian and Brazilian beans and maybe Sumatra if there is a good year. There just isn't enough production from the volcanic regions or the artisian fields to offer any other variety outside of limited-yield flavors.

I've been cooking my bacon in the large pan, shifting the strips to the warmed cast-iron pan, and scrambling the eggs in the big pan with the bacon grease for more flavor. But you're right; my toast, whether it's with butter or honey, I usually have on a separate plate, or the same one once the eggs & bacon are gone.

60 Jewells, how's the chemo regimen progressing? Are you holding up ok?

Welllll... the CT scan showed no new growth last Friday so that was fantastic news. He put me on Zometa to help with bone loss and dropped the carboplatin. I was fine until Tuesday and ended up back at the hospital yesterday. Low white and red blood cell counts and elevated liver enzymes...which is a side affect of the Zometa. I actually do feel better today. Finally. Thanks for asking.

Im curious as to during WW1 and WW2, were pensions a top priority issue while a hot war between super powers was going on?

It seems to me, that if this was truly a hot war in Ukraine, with so much at stake, worrying about a consistent pension money plow for the next forty years would be down the list after simple things like basic surival, infrastructure and actually fighting a war.

I think I profoundly disagree with the existence of Vanilla flavored maple syrup.

The whole reason to use maple syrup is to get the maple flavor, which is not a particularly strong flavor to begin with.

If you slop vanilla all over your maple syrup, you probably get...vanilla syrup(!), which you can buy at your local liquor store for much much cheaper.

This seems like a poor use of maple syrup and a big waste of money.

YMMV.

If you haven't caught on yet, the plan is no-joke to increase misery. Forced vegan diets, 15 minute cities, cars that can't travel anywhere, constant strife between races and sexes to the point where suspicion and fear rules every interaction, etc.

157 Reading that story on the OK lesbos who have a kid, split and the judge ruled the non-biological spouse had no parental rights.

Key bit: in December of 2018 they "participated in several at-home non medically assisted inseminations"

Fascinating bit: the biological mother moved in with the biological father. Almost like there is some sort of powerful nature there no matter how much the world lies about normalizing homosexuality.

A true hard core leftist is a miserable person. The only thing that gives them any enjoyment in life is attempting to make others just as miserable.

Trump winning Ohio by seven points has the leftists wanting to make the state pay by way of inaction - to increase the misery. Trump announcing a visit to East Palestine was the kick in the nuts to the leftists.

Our idiot DiL has a father who is a further idiot by far. When son and DiL were remodeling their kitchen, son's FiL said some very condescending things to Mrs. Krebs' suggestions regarding how to do crown molding and how to properly place modular cabinet pieces to include a corner.

Unknown, and perhaps even unimaginable, to him, she had participated substantially in work to undertake two separate kitchen remodelings in prior years. She refrained from throttling the chauvinist dunce, but he'll never know how close he came to a bad end.

177 The absolute stupidity and cupidity of our fearless "leaders" never fails to amaze me.
We, in the US, had a functioning and relatively wealthy society with services and opportunities which had never before been seen.
But those of our "betters" that were able to get a hand in the till, could not resist the opportunity to keep on stealing.
Now, mostly because war graft is relatively easy, they are willing to risk a high stakes war, convinced that their personal lives will remain unaffected, and only the peasants will suffer.
I do not think this will end well for them and especially us peasants!

186 Oh, here's something for all you Technicolor Boreworm coffeemaker possessing coffee fiends and the like -

There's a competitor to Starbucks spinning up in the DFW area called "Ascension Coffee Roasters", which for my coffee shop attending friends is the shizznizzle for awesome coffee and coffee shop style foods and miles above Starbucks in quality.

Anywho, they also sell their whole bean coffee at select groceries. So, I thought I'd try a couple of bags of their overpriced coffee to see if I needed to upgrade. The two types who's aroma appealed to me the most are:
1) "Levitate"-from the Pacific Rim, Central and South America, tasting of "molasses, fig, butterscotch"
2) "Ardi" - from Ethiopia/Ana Sora, Guji(?), tasting of blueberry, melon, chocolate"
DL/DR- they were both excellent coffees with superior flavor and aroma. And surprisingly the "flavor and aroma hints" were actually present. I liked the "Ardi" best. The lovely and discerning Mrs naturalfake liked the "Levitate" best.
The price is such that they may not make it into the rotation, but we may get it as a special thing when the kiddos come home, etc.
Check it out.

Speeches and rallies are fine.

But he needs to be showing the US in every news cycle, "this is how the Trump Presidency would do better. "
No slogans. No jabs. No insults. Just pure "I am ready to do better than this in day one. " Go so far as to roll out a shadow cabinet, experts to address every crisis.

Biden and the folks handling him won't be able to counter because their power depends on the weakness of Biden and his administration. They can't unify against it without ceding power.

That is a skill believe it or not. I did the hardwood floors in a house in Virginia City called "the crooked house". Intentionally built without a single 90° angle in the place as an anti mason statement in the 1870's. Doing the moulding on that house was probably one of the hardest jobs I ever did. May I be pedantic? I am not saying you are wrong, but your focus is not correct. In our Fed-run system money is created by debt: you can get money created for you by promising to pay it back, and if you just work for it without debt, you lose because of the inflation , which is created by money created out of thin air. The greater the debt you commit to the greater access to wealth you have.

there are other ways of creating money, one of them is digging Gold out of the ground (in a gold backed money) or collecting dentalia shells, but this means a far slower growth and access to funds because it can't be created out of nothing, but on the other hand recessions and depressions are not deep or long.

(A third way is via something like Bitcoin which the Austrians say behaves like a gold backed currency and the other economists say are a ponzi scheme)

Yuri Bezmenov, 1985 Interview: "Most of demoralization is done by Americans to Americans. Due to lack of moral standards." -- https://bit.ly/3lNOoDV

1 - Demoralization: It takes 15-20 years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years that requires to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy. Expose to the ideology of the enemy. Marxism, Leninism ideology. Pumped into the soft heads of at least 3 generations of American students, without being challenged or counterbalanced by the basic values of American patriotism.

The result you can see. Most of the people who were educated in the '60s drop out so half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind, even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black.

I do mean the French salons of the 17th-19th centuries. In the same thread we can have an argument over the Russian military in Ukraine lacking NCOs, and how the Council of Trent was the embodiment of the Counter-Reformation, until Vatican II. With emphasis on the Tridentine Mass.

In other words, these people, the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To get rid of society of these people, you need another 20 or 30 years to educate a new generation of patriotic-minded and common sense people, who would be acting in favor in the interests of United States society.

Well said. The mechanism of decay is two-fold. Gresham's Law of people put in places of responsibility, and the Law of Diminishing Returns.

Home schooling is needed, as the public schools are actively anti-civilization, and suck money from the productive to make children biddable to a transitory religion of stupidity.

Some people connected with arms production are going to be getting richer. I wouldn't be surprised to see another run on ammunition like a few years ago when it became pretty scarce and thus, expensive.

But, by all means continue to send our mortar rounds, missiles and armor over to Ukraine. We'll just "build more." On the taxpayer's dime. And the politicos will get richer.

Our so called 'best and brightest' may actually be on the 'savant syndrome' spectrum. The have an amazing ability to recite whatever information is fed to them and get good grades, attend the best colleges, but in actuality are low IQ. Put them into positions of power and they are worthless. As you described you can not talk or reason them out of a position.

The movie "Rain Man" was a good example. The character could memorize a telephone book in seconds, count the number of toothpicks that fell on a counter in a split second, but was otherwise completely useless.

They will not let him resign because his seat would be open in 2024, a presidential election year and both PA seats would be up. They care nothing for him. Only remaining in power.

I see that you have made some assumptions here that probably not correct. In particular, who are "potential enemies" where it is abundantly clear that China is an ally and senior partner in the relationship with the Deep State and sadly, the MIC. The MIC has been providing IP and technology to China since at least the Clinton era, and most likely earlier.

It is also obvious to most people that We The People are the enemy in deed to the Deep State, and depleting both the energy stock (SPR) and ammo depots while also setting off biological mRNA time-bombs within the public is similar in plan to blowing up the Nordstream pipelines and shuttering/destroying the petroleum and nuclear industries. That is, by destroying the means of production and emptying the warehouses, it is a guarantee that We The People will be destroyed and have no ability to fight back - ever

Creepy Old Communist Twitter Dude (aka Jeff Tiedrich) has come up with the new pravda that the derailment was due to "Trump" reducing railroad regulation.

He doesn't explain how, if "Trump" unilaterally did this, Biden hasn't unilaterally rescinded it, two years into the Dopey Joe Regime.

I guess it's one of those deals like the way that "Reagan" is somehow still responsible for everything bad in California, despite the fact that Reagan hasn't been Governor of California in nearly 50 years.

Intelligence, intellectual ability or achievement, firm grounding in reality mean nothing. All that matters is power and the will to use it. Chesterton also predicted that the existential threat was not going to come from Moscow, but from Manhattan (via the media)

I'm kind of pissed off at how stupid people are and are buying the fear pr0n from JD Vance that the rivers and streams are polluted.

That stupid example of stirring up muck at the bottom of a stagnant shallow poind in particular. First of all, any idiot should know that vinyl chloride is not petroleum so something that appears to be a petroleum bloom is not vinyl chloride.

Second, and it took a while to find the video, but once a bloom is discovered there is a way to determine if it is petroleum based. In this case, by stirring up the bottom the contamination is clearly not of any recent contamination and I am near 95% convinced that what they are calling the train derailment contamination is likely just plain old humic sheen from that area's natural organic decomposition.

Depends what you mean by "the water". From a well, yes. From a drainage ditch or a stagnant pond? Not even the one in front of my house. Why? because there may be biologics in the water that may be incompatible with my system. Even still, if there are no alternatives, there are simple ways to mitigate even that.

Well, it depends. There are some pretty good arguments that the massive influx of gold (and especially) silver from the New World tanked the economy of Spain so thoroughly that it still hasn't recovered centuries later. They went from Masters of the Planet to backwards shithole.

Like pretty much every other currency base, gold and silver are okay as long as the supply remains steady or, at worst, increases at a slow, predictable rate.

328 Like pretty much every other currency base, gold and silver are okay as long as the supply remains steady or, at worst, increases at a slow, predictable rate.

I think the counter-argument is that gold/silver are like bitcoin in the sense that the easily obtained commodity has already been mined and future production requires more effort, energy and technology. Eventually all that can be economically obtained has been extracted.

That comparison breaks down when one realizes that gold/silver have real value outside of the context of being a monetary base.

Nonetheless, tying a constrained commodity to wealth production in general is a bad idea in that the difficulties in getting the commodity constrains wealth production in general - which suffocates wealth creation.

I think I'd prefer semiconductor grade silicon on that basis. More valuable than gold, no one country has a monopoly, and the only way it's going to get massively cheaper is if energy gets massively cheaper, in which case everything is going to get massively cheaper.

I don't know God's plan. I do know, and I'll use my 20 something year old daughter as an example, many people calling out to "God" are not calling out to the Creator. They are calling out to what they want God to be. Accepting of trans, gay marriage, etc.

Yes, the rate of gold production can put the brakes on a rapidly growing economy. More stuff to buy means the need for more gold to buy it, which you may very well not have. Especially if gold production is largely controlled by China and Russia, which it is (Australia is also a big player, but we don't usually have to worry too much about them).

354 As for predestination, I don't believe in it the way you are describing it.

Which is OK, the alternative is the "I Am The Exception To All Of The Bible's Teaching" soteriology where the Scriptures clearly state that:
• the natural man is in enmity with God
• does not seek after God
• hates righteousness, loves darkness
• is blinded to the Truth by both God and Satan
• can't understand Scripture, considers it foolish
• and would rather be crushed by rocks that bow the knee to God

So yes, the Free Will Enthusiast must, by necessity, claim mastery and sovereignty over all of these claims to man's nature by God (IOW, God lied a lot about man's spiritually dead condition; forget The Fall/Curse and all that jazz)

Yeah, the West is dead because it has rejected God's Sovereignty and the Western Church has a DIY salvation plan which categorically rejects the Paraclete's work.

That's one way to look at it, but the working of the Holy Spirit in the name of Christ has certain hallmarks. And a church which doesn't appear to be preaching or seeing people saved or working and evangelizing is a pretty stark contrast to one that sees the lost world and is actively going after them with the gospel.

360 I believe in relative evil : )

I don't blame you.

In some sense, I agree with you. In our temporal existence, some are crueler and more evil to others. That much is true, and it is very very real.

In the spiritual realm, the one unseen, our sin is not against each other, but against the Lord. And He will not abide one spot of sin on our robes. And as such, it required the perfect sacrifice to atone such that He may remain a just God in addition to being a merciful one.

Posted by: Bitter Clinger at February 18, 2023 11:20 AM (Zqeqr)

361 Yes; God is always doing something. And as some of the old catechisms in the Protestant tradition say "The chief end of our life is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever." The goal is to make us like Christ. As for where it's happening now? There is currently a revival in Christian Universties-First Asbury in KY, then Centerville in Ohio. Now it's at another school:

371 Emerging lurker from Kentucky here. Saw Asbury mentioned and was moved to comment. Hub and I went this past Sunday (we’re about 15 minutes away) after hearing testimony about it in church. I was raised Lutheran, then Presbyterian, now Anglican. Needless to say I have no experience with a traditional “revival” despite being raised around Baptists so I can’t speak to that. I can tell you that the Holy Spirit is present there in a powerful way and my life and heart were changed by attending. Many fellow believers, including pastors and teachers, saying the same. The veil is thin there right now. So whatever it is, lives are being changed, and young people - the future of the church - are being strengthened and having their eyes opened to God’s love. Pray for them, the church, the leaders at Asbury and schools across the country that the next generation of believers are brought to their knees before Jesus and come to fully accept His love. God bless all of you!

I read the article upthread..."not the Bee"...and I understand and appreciate the author's reservations about what is currently happening there at Asbury. However, I'll refer to the direct marketing rule: 10/10.
Ten percent of the mailers sent will be opened, and ten percent of those will be a sale. So if out of 2000 revivalists (for lack of a better word), if the Holy Spirit only sticks with 20...that's not terrible. It's 20 souls who will now actively work for the Kingdom.

IMO it's a big win just for the fact that the youths are not all stuck with their faces in TikTok while the event is happening.

380 Just a question for the horde:
Recently escaped from So CA to No VA (temporary for job reasons) and then to TN. While in No VA wondering if there are any meets ups or morons willing to share a beverage/food? Never had to ask this question in the People's Republic of CA....
