Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Hip-Hop Is Going PlacesBern University of the Arts HKB From Smithsonian Magazine, March 18, 2019: Scientists Played Music to Cheese as It Aged. Hip-Hop Produced the Funkiest Flavor The creation of good cheese involves a complex dance between milk and bacteria. In a quite literal sense, playing the right tune while this dance unfolds changes the final product's taste, a new study shows. Denis Balibouse and Cecile Mantovani at Reuters report that hip-hop, for example, gave the cheese an especially funky flavor, while cheese that rocked out to Led Zeppelin or relaxed with Mozart had milder zests. Last September, Swiss cheesemaker Beat Wampfler and a team of researchers from the Bern University of Arts placed nine 22-pound wheels of Emmental cheese in individual wooden crates in Wampfler's cheese cellar. Then, for the next six months each cheese was exposed to an endless, 24-hour loop of one song using a mini-transducer, which directed the sound waves directly into the cheese wheels.May work better for bacteria than for people. Sounds remarkably like some torture techniques. "The bacteria did a good job," Wampfler tells SwissInfo. The experts said A Tribe Called Quest's cheese was "remarkably fruity, both in smell and taste, and significantly different from the other samples." . . It turns out that Wampfler was rooting for the hip-hop cheese to win all along. Now, reports Reuters, he and his collaborators want to expose cheese to five to ten different types of hip-hop to see if it has similar effects. Wampfler also tells the AFP that he can see marketing cheeses based on the music they matured too. Already, he says people have called requesting cheese that has listened to the blues, Balkan music and ACDC. Further tests were planned, including sonochemistry and biomedicine. Hip-Hop is going to the university lab! If COVID doesn't delay its study too much. The musical secret to great Emmental cheese in the study above is revealed below. You can imagine how bacteria would like it. (Don't mention cultural appropriation here, Emmentalers.)Rap is original poetry recited in rhythm and rhyme over prerecorded instrumental tracks. Rap music (also referred to as rap or hip-hop music) evolved in conjunction with the cultural movement called hip-hop. Rap emerged as a minimalist street sound against the backdrop of the heavily orchestrated and formulaic music coming from the local house parties to dance clubs in the early 1970s. Its earliest performers comprise MCs (derived from master of ceremonies but referring to the actual rapper) and DJs (who use and often manipulate pre-recorded tracks as a backdrop to the rap), break dancers and graffiti writers. You may recall learning about a clip from a Disney cartoon re-make called "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder" in which young teens declare repeatedly that descendants of slaves deserve reparations. AllHipHop calls it a "rap song". This country was built on slavery -- which means slaves built this country . . We the descendants of slaves in America have earned reparations for their suffering . . . and continue to earn reparations every moment we spend submerged in a systemic prejudice, racism and white supremacy that America was founded with and still has not atoned for.Wenyuan Wu of the Californians for Equal Rights Foundation wrote: Does anyone find this Disney show "The Proud Family" obnoxious? Not to mention the terrible music for the Reparations song , it plagiarizes The 1619 Project. . .She received a response from one of today's New Segregationists: It's not music it's slam poetry, and the show wasn't made for you or your audience.Well, of course the show was intended to be disgusting to her and her audience. Wouldn't want them discovering the content Disney is teaching young kids: reparations; Lincoln didn't want to free the slaves; slaves built the entire nation; etc. It doesn't seem so long ago that Juneteenth was being hyped as the Actual Independence Day of America, and now kids are being taught to scowl about the holiday and tear down statues of Lincoln instead. At least the Daily Mail says the kids in the cartoon wanted to tear down Lincoln's statue. Whether it's the statue of Lincoln or the town's founder, they are met by jack-booted riot police. You can maybe guess part of the rest. Last March, this series got an 11% approval rating from audiences at Rotten Tomatoes. Recently it was 24%. But critics gave it a 100% rating both times. Hollywood loves this stuff. Neo picks up a piece from Heather MacDonald describing how the idea of permanent enslavement of black people by white people, even abolitionists, has infected the world of fine art. Time to cancel Disney and maybe ABC. Sgt. Mom has some thoughts. On the rap vs. slam poetry question, the video might be categorized as either, I guess. Slam poetry appears to have been invented by a white construction worker in Chicago. It invites audience participation in judging. The influence of rap on this type of poetry over the years seems pretty clear, and sometimes they may cross over. Slam poetry now sometimes allows a drumbeat in the background, as was used in the Disney video. The growing dissemination and popularity of conspiracy theories has also created an alliance between right-wing agitators and hip hop music's left-wing rappers (such as KRS-One, Professor Griff of Public Enemy and Immortal Technique), illustrating how anti-elitist conspiracism can create unlikely political allies in efforts to oppose a political system.Hmmm. The hand over the mouth in a Disney cartoon . . . This article traces the discourses that shape and influence hip hop including popular culture, prison culture, Black Muslim ("Five Percenter") religion, and black books subculture. It reveals how hip hop resembles the "cultic milieu," a space where disparate countercultural ideas propagate and create unlikely political alliances. Overall, the article seeks to demonstrate that conspiratorial thinking serves multiple purposes, including addressing legitimate but complex political grievances in contemporary society.

I liked Public Enemy way back in the Before Times. They actually delivered a message. But when rap started to morph into something brutal and offensive, I quickly jumped off that train. I remember returning a CD to Tower records and the clerk didn't want to take it back. He said, "We don't take back CDs just because you don't like them" Then I informed him that I wasn't aware that NWA was advocating violence toward women and the clerk changed his mind. If the cheese thing is actually real, I'd guess that music with more thumping beats vibrates the cheese more and help the bacteria and/or mold spread.
Most American blacks have a significant portion of white blood (don't even need DNA testing to verify this... just compare the appearance of an American black to a resident of one of the countries formerly known as the Slave Coast). So does the white part have to pay reparations to the black part or what? Now I'm thinking of the late, great Richard Pryor talking about going to Africa to search for his roots. Pryor: "Is it true that the different tribes have different appearances, so sometimes you can tell what tribe someone is from just by looking at them?" African chief: "Yes, this is true." Pryor: "What tribe would you say I'm from?" Chief: "To me, you look...Italian." Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia at February 18, 2023 11:24 AM (bW8dp) 36

Quick dive shows Kevelaer on the border between the Netherlands and Germany, just north of Belgium, still about 30 miles from the Rhine. The British 2nd Army crossed the Rhine on Mar 23, slightly over a month after this bombing mission. Dempsey is not a name familiar to me, but apparently the 2nd Army was the main battle force of the Brits (joint British-Canadian unit) at D-Day and beyond. It sounds like they met pretty stiff resistance between June '44 and the Mar '45 crossing of the Rhine. Posted by: Muldoon at February 18, 2023 11:32 AM (ykeLU) 51

More from earlier this week at Anzio from Dad's diary.
Feb 16, 944 The “hot” beachhead suddenly became “hotter”. Gerry hit with all the artillery he had at 0600 this morning. Our work here in CB ran wild. All the CPs and batteries seemed to be shelled at once. Brig CP and rear area quit heavily shelled. Chaplain Wallace, McDaniel, Pratt and Metz were all killed by a single round. Irony of fate. Three out of the first four killed in the battery were listed as non-combatants. Gerry probed our line with inf and tanks all day long. We fell back slightly in a few places but generally held. Knocked out about 25 tanks. Look for a big push tomorrow A.M. This is nearing the peak effort of the deepest advance of German troops against the Allied salient towards The Factory and Carroceto. This was the closest they came to pushing us off the beachhead.Repelling this push was critical to the ultimate success of the Anzio landings. My cuz worked in an Amish cheese co op in Ohio (they employed some Yankees). They kept certain cheese wheels crated for some reason or another, and while opening one, it went splodey, even launching a sliver into his face.

My lovely wife still is a bit baffled by my choice of a seat in a restaurant. It's genetic Hon.
Posted by: Tonypete Not a difficult concept either. I am not sitting with my back to the door. Damed servers and greeters stand in front of the undesirable seat and because I'm a gentleman, Smash sits in the situation awareness seat all the time. About 39 years ago, I just squeezed in with her until she figured out what I was doing. Now she asks, but still has no situational awareness of where threats can or may come from. The most recent conspiracy rumor is that digital ID and biometric health trackers were given out as a pilot program to residents of East Palestine months before the train accident.
There are some serious problems in trust going on in the world. I have said recently that one of the purposes of forcing people to accept "facts" that are clearly untrue, is that in dealing with that stress of trying to reconcile other things that could be identified as untrue get accepted uncritically. Environmental and social stress exacerbates this However I think that if the environment and access to "other things" has to be carefully curated because a LOT of crazy stuff can be gathered in and then you have a run away situation no one can control. Then again that might be the whole point Posted by: Kindltot at February 18, 2023 11:50 AM (xhaym) 87

B-25J-1 9F 43-4058 is "Stella" and is finished in standard OD/NG camouflage. Reason the aft escape hatch is open is a mystery unless they were using it as a camera hatch. Usual blonde pin-up in bra and panties on pilot side of plane.
B-25J-2 43-27694 9U is "C-Ration" and is finished in an RAF Dark Green or USAAF Olive Drab over natural metal.* Has a Tex Avery style wolf on pilot side. Later a lamppost was added along with "4-F." *The bare metal B-25s received a hasty paint job after the Germans staged a night time raid and hit many of those gleaming planes. Generally cousins, too, especially in isolated areas. Because pretty much everybody was your cousin. Oh, yes. As I look further into the ancestry of my Norwegian forebears who came from that part of Norway at or above the Arctic Circle, I found several "too close for comfort" pairings. What now preoccupies me, in looking at those same folks, is how many of them who settled in a small location in northern Wisconsin were (1) from that very region of Norway and (2) how many had family ties, deep sometimes, but very real, with other families in the same community. Thus far I have linked five prominent families in that group and I very much expect that I will be able to link them up with a sixth one once I have time to look. I've watched a few videos where Matt Walsh, Zuby, Pearl Davis, etc have asked tranny supporters to define what a woman is and they all refuse to do it.
Its hillarious. The video of Walsh, especially, asking a gender studies professor to define a woman and he gets the following responses: 1) What do YOU think a woman is? 2) What have other people said? 3) A woman is anyone that says they identify as a woman. And Walsh was ready for the last. He asked, ok, well what SPECIFICALLY, are they identifying as? What things? And...the guy would not answer it. Just as they cheer BLM domestic terrorism, just as they cheer antifa domestic terrorism, just as they cheer "transgender" domestic terrorism, just as they cheer anti-pro-life center domestic terrorism.

285. Seems like more than a coincidence. As scary as Gates telegraphing " the next pandemic", as if he has a schedule.

I liked Mr Loury's speech affirming the positive good of the United States. However, I would caution against unquestioning acceptance of the Foundation Against Racism & Intolerance (FAIR).
I went to their web-site and read their declaration of beliefs. They affirm the individual, but are concerned about book banning and are ambivalent about the trans-gender movement. They also call for tolerance of all differing points-of-view. Conspicuous in its absence is any affirmation of religious freedom. They don't seem to understand that the rights of the individual are only articles of faith within the Judeo-Christian religions, and that some points-of-view can be evil. FAIR seems to be mainly a bunch of academics that don't like the lunatic "Woke" communists, but also don't understand the the concept of Mankind being made in the image of God. You have FAIR pegged about right. It is not a Judeo-Christian organization. It is anti-WOKE. I think there are some elements of affirmation of religious freedom in their positions, but they are not explicit and may be limited in some situations. On book banning: "FAIR opposes all forms of book-banning and broadly supports the freedom to read without interference or censorship. Libraries in schools and classrooms, particularly in elementary schools, present a somewhat different issue. For these libraries, which are curated by educators, FAIR supports a partnership between parents/guardians and educators in determining whether books are age-appropriate for children based on their grade level. We believe that parents/guardians have the right to advocate for or against particular books being included in school and classroom libraries and curricula. Such decisions should not be made unilaterally and should result from meaningful and robust discussion among all parents/guardians and educators in the community." Posted by: KT at February 18, 2023 08:12 PM (rrtZS) Yes, I understand. FAIR is an ally in the fight against the "Woke." However, as a Catholic I can only agree with about 75% of their position. That's why I did not sign their digital petition. Without an understanding of Imago Dei, the people at FAIR can't give a good answer for why each individual life has value. They also seem to be incapable of acknowledging that evil exists. That being said, I don't reject their help in the fight against the "Woke."
