Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | FBI's Jersey Hustle saved the credibility of the U.S. governmentWell, the reputation of the FBI has been taking some big hits lately, culminating this week with the retraction (but no related firings?) of a leaked document targeting traditional Catholics as potential terrorists. Don't comment on old threads even if they're real informative. So I was interested to see a puff piece on an FBI project whose name I barely remember - ABSCAM - come into my news feed:In the 1980s, the FBI launched a courageous initiative to combat fraudulent behavior in Congress: The Abscam operation. Its daring undercover sting featured agents pretending to be wealthy Arab sheiks and businessmen, successfully resulting in numerous indictments of Congress members and other public officials on accounts of bribery. It's an incredible story that illustrates how determined the FBI was to win back public confidence in our government. Read on to learn more about one of the most daring and successful sting operations ever attempted--the tale of Abscam.Wow. Even the Wiki is much better than this. In March 1978, John F. Good of the FBI's office in suburban Long Island created and oversaw a sting operation called "Abscam", which was initially intended to investigate theft, forgery and stolen art.[6][7][8][9] The FBI employed Melvin Weinberg, a convicted swindler, international con artist and informant, and his girlfriend, Evelyn Knight, to help plan and conduct the operation. They were facing a prison sentence at the time and in exchange for their help, the FBI agreed to let them out on probation.[3] Weinberg, supervised by the FBI, created a fake company called Abdul Enterprises in which FBI employees posed as fictional Arab sheikhs led by owners Kambir Abdul Rahman and Yassir Habib, who had millions of dollars to invest in the United States.[8] Weinberg instructed the FBI to fund a $1 million account with the Chase Manhattan Bank in the name of Abdul Enterprises, giving the company the credibility it needed to further its operation.[2] When a forger who was under investigation suggested to the sheikhs that they invest in casinos in New Jersey and that licensing could be obtained for a price, the Abscam operation was re-targeted toward political corruption. It was an audacious plan. According to the first story I found in my news feed, our faith in government should be restored by the FBI's bribery of reckless con artists to entrap corrupt politicans. Still working for you? The FBI's vaunted crime lab is a scandal of atrocious forensic science. Its "junk science" permeates the U.S. criminal justice system as it bogus "findings" routinely punish the innocent and set the guilty free, affecting thousands of lives in the process. CSI Is a Lie. FBI Testimony on Microscopic Hair Analysis Contained Errors in at Least 90 Percent of Cases in Ongoing Review When Dr. Frederic Whitehurst initially blew the whistle on the systemic forensic fraud in the FBI crime lab, he could never have known it was the start of a lifelong fight for government accountability.

Murtha's Biden-, African dictator-level corruption is well known (and like those it was a family affair). His repugnant irresponsible instincts were on display when he pronounced the Haditha Marines guilty before trial.
But you had to be around him a bit to fully appreciate what a stupid, vile POS he was. Another monument to the disaster that is the American voter, and the ossification and inertia of the "system". Had two young NCOs from the Navy ship named after Murtha (!) at the range one day. I asked if they wanted to hear what a POS he was. They laughed and said yes! Their level of disenchantment overall was encouraging. When I asked if they were getting the Khmer Rouge/racist indoctrination and how it was going, they said oh yeah, but everybody just rolls their eyes and ignores it. Which was nice to hear. The FBI did a good job on infiltrating the mob though it was just putting a bandaid on the problem. Except for Vegas. That was taken over by the corporate mob with the help of the FBI.

Having fed gov investigate itself is an obvious conflict of interest Very interesting thought, and it sounds good, but I wonder (no, I really don't) how well it would work in practice. I suspect you'd have every state fighting with every other state to get a piece, and as a result, absolutely nothing would be accomplished. That might be a worthy goal, given what we now know about the FBI. Posted by: Archimedes at February 11, 2023 11:31 AM (eOEVl) 21

Hitler never had any power until he had a national police force loyal to him.
The FBI is loyal to only the Democrat Party. Intensely, openly and brazenly loyal to Democrats. Not the US. Not the people. The Democrat Party and their national police force are the greatest threat America has ever faced. The Republicans and Democrats just gave the DOJ and the FBI a billion extra dollars-- not to catch criminals or terrorists-- to prosecute innocent Americans for the made-up crime of parading. Maybe OT this early, but I missed the thread yesterday about the FBI going after Trad Catholics. This wasn’t a mistake. This was a probe, a raid, a test. I’m fearful now of what I would have laughed at 20 years ago, but I think in the not-too-distant future, those who take their Judeo-Christian beliefs seriously are going to be put through severe trials. Most people think the “separation of church and state” means no national religion, no oaths to a particular creed, no clergy funded by the government. The Left thinks the separation of church and state means that religious beliefs can have no place at all in the public sphere. And they don’t believe in any limits to the scope of the state the church is to be separate from. For them, your silly rites and superstitions may be tolerated as long as they remain private. Otherwise, you’ll have to be complicit in aborting babies, mutilating children, marrying same-sex couples and celebrating deviance. Or else. If you don't think they won't make you lose your job, take your kids away, bankrupt you and worse, you may be in for a rude shock. The Democrat Party and their national police force are the greatest threat America has ever faced.
The Republicans and Democrats just gave the DOJ and the FBI a billion extra dollars-- not to catch criminals or terrorists-- to prosecute innocent Americans for the made-up crime of parading. Posted by: People's Hippo Voice at February 11, 2023 11:35 AM (/6aCr) It is time to accept that any Republican who continues to fund the FBI is as much an enemy as the Left or al-Qaeda, the latter at least having some contorted sense of morality. The United States could either have liberty or maintain the FBI and has chose the latter. When the country finally disintegrates after years of fragmentation, this will be one of the primary reasons. The initial Anzio landings took place on Jan 21 and were largely unopposed by the Germans. After several days consolidating a shallow beachhead of about 2-3 miles deep and some 8-10 miles wide, the Allies launched a thrust inland from the beach, toward an areea known as "The Factory". This thrust proceeded along a narrow salient, 6-7 miles deep, but on a stalk only about 1-2 miles wide. By the end of January this thrust had stalled and the Germans launched a counterattack on Feb 1, hoping to pinch off the base of the salient and kill or capture Allied troops within the salient. As the Allies were pushed back on Feb 1-2 this posed a threat to the success of the entire invasion, and reinforcements were being rushed up from Naples. Over the first two weeks of Feb there was a lot of back and forth action near "The Factory".
My dad's unit got orders on Feb 4 to move to Anzio and by Feb 6 advance teams were landed at Nettuno, Dad among them. The next few days marked the peak of the German counterattack, as his unit was just getting up and going. This is the context of this week's diary excerpts covering Feb 8=10. From EZ Dog diary - Feb 1944
Feb 8. Wakened up early with shells dropping into area. One within 100 yds of tent we were sleeping in. Looks like we really hit a “hot-spot”. Btry came up today. Landed about 1230. They spent the night in staging area near Anzio. Wind came up and rain poured. Brigade SOP [standard operating procedure]. This hot spot was due to saturation bombing of the rear areas by combined artillery and Luftwaffe in support of the German counteroffensive. seriously, yesterday someone wrote a pretty good post about why the NWO/FIBS got their sights located on the RC Traditionalists. Feb 9 Btry started moving to new area. No shelling. Spent all day with Evans digging a “house” to sleep in. Quite a fancy affair. About 3 ft deep, log roof with rushes and dirt, a fireplace. If the FBI can't find criminals they will invent, enable or incite them.
This follows from the "if you ask a barber his opinion he's going to say you need a haircut" school of justifying your existence. From firsthand knowledge I can say that this same mindset permeates the mindset of mid-career physicians. Whether it is lopping off healthy body parts, ordering expensive tests, or advocating ever more frequent "screening" tests at ever younger ages, it pays the bills and keeps you employed. Not much incentive to wait two years for a check-up when you can get paid for doing it in one. Posted by: Muldoon at February 11, 2023 01:20 PM (ykeLU) 287

Lindybeige would disagree. https://tinyurl.com/55wa5efm Posted by: Speller In his book The Kaiser's Battle (about the famous 3/21/18 German offensive to end the war before the US could make its presence felt), Martin Middlebrook appends General Georg Bruchmuller's prepatory artillery bombardment plan. The trend had been toward lengthy, massive bombardments, for example, for a full week before the Somme. Bruchmuller went with a brief, very intense bombardment. He began with high explosives, then used an irritant hoping to get the Brits to remove their gas masks, and finally poison gas. The FBI was always a bad idea. Having some to police across state lines is ok, but if you are going to have an organization that investigates federal politicians you need it controlled by the states.
Having fed gov investigate itself is an obvious conflict of interest Posted by: 18-1 at February 11, 2023 11:25 AM (lc5cP) Back when the FBI was founded, state and local law enforcement was very fragmented, and there was little cross-agency communication. Those days are long-gone, and every state and metropolitan area has a crime lab now. I've been saying for over a decade that the FEEBs have lost track of their LE mission. It's an organization that needs to be disbanded. NO ONE in the FBI was ever publicly held responsible for the fvq-up that resulted in the tip on the FL school shooter (Cruz?) being ignored. Retired Buckeye, an excellent point I used to make (about the very unusual tip they received on the Parkland nutcase).
And of course the long local story behind it, all of which made it possible, is even worse. The idiocy and incompetence of Obama's DOJ, the county's school system, and ultimately its law enforcement of course, on the scene. Almost nobody knows any of this, of course, as is there is no press and there's not much of a citizenry to read a real press any longer, it seems. The mega-scandal that is everything *except* the GUNS! OH MY GAWD GUNS!! takes it place along side the nearly constant debacles that would have not long ago been turning points. Posted by: MAGA_Ken at February 11, 2023 02:12 PM (cMXNt) This is probably not a bad way to go because you could also have the local field offices for these bureaus appointed by the state government and elected leadership. The biggest problem with a bureaucracy is when they are an unaccountable, unelected bureaucracy wielding enormous power. It is not just the obvious stuff like the corruption and subversion by a single political entity we are seeing now, it is also the shoddiness of work like what someone mentioned with the crime labs and so forth. There is no pressure to do better or do the job well when you are completely unaccountable to anyone. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at February 11, 2023 02:16 PM (zZu0s) 314
Maybe have the agents appointed by a specific state not serve in that state and on a yearly basis the guys get rotated to a new state so they do not develop 'connections' (hint: corruption) with those states.
That was part of the intent for a similar reform Sulla tried to make of the system there. However, the Roman model of patronage kind of lent itself systemically to corruption as we would think of it. Posted by: Aetius451AD Work Laptop at February 11, 2023 02:19 PM (zZu0s) 315
