Update on James O'Keefe/Project Veritas Drama

This account, OldRowSwig, says that O'Keefe has been ejected from PV due to the machinations of disgruntled board members and fired employees:

James is a bit of a victim of poor corporate structure, as PV is 2 separate orgs a 501c3 which had very FEW board members and the majority of the $$$ and a 501c4, which had significantly more board members but less $$$

According to my source, this situation has allowed to 2 alleged ringleaders of this attempt to push James out to have significant sway over the others despite their reasons to be essentially meritless.


The account @amuse posts this report:

This comes in the immediate aftermath of @Project_Veritas GREATEST moment ever, exposing corruption at Pfizer, which my source thought was EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS timing.

PV must explain this situation!!!

My source believes that with enough public support, @JamesOKeefeIII could win back support of the 501c4 board, so PLEASE RT and voice your support in a POSITIVE WAY.

James O'Keefe has done more to expose corporate corruption than almost any journalist in modern history!!!

If @JamesOKeefeIII leaves, I will no longer support @Project_Veritas and will support whichever venture he starts instead. My source says that the rank and file employees are STILL WITH JAMES, the board needs to realize PV will likely not survive if the go through with this!

Reportedly, @JamesOKeefeIII fired Barry Hinckley and Tom O'Hara (CFO) as a result of their insubordination.

6/PROJECT VERITAS MUTINY

New York Magazine is reporting that @Project_Veritas' board of directors has put @JamesOKeefeIII on paid leave and rehired the turncoats.

I have ZERO doubt that @JamesOKeefeIII is a crazy man who is hard to work for, but without James, there would be no PV. Firing him would be the end of @Project_Veritas. The answer is to build a team who can support James not undermine him. I'm game.

The decision to put @JamesOKeefeIII on paid leave seems to have been Daniel Strack, PV's Executive Director. Strack was unceremoniously pushed out of Goldman Sachs as an MD after just 3 years

We don't know the whole story yet; these accounts are obviously relaying the story of an O'Keefe supporter, if not O'Keefe himself.

So a weak corporate structure put too much power in the hands of professional managers and left little in the hands of the founder, and the founder was pushed out following a disagreement on operations or a conflict of visions.

This sounds a whole lot like a fairly common venture capital scenario, where the engineer/inventor builds the company and then gets forced out by the professionals brought in by the VC firms.

Except the politics, which I am sure are central to this. Given the timing, I am comfortable speculating that the powers that be decided that it was finally time to take out O'Keefe. He took on way too big, too important a target this time and they are kneecapping him and making him, at best, have to start over.

I figured it was more than just one guy, but I had no idea it had multiple boards of directors and so many employees. But the boards may be a function of being a 501c3 and 501c4. My guess is that having a board is a requirement of the designations, and probably an outside board.

Of all the things I'm sure of, I am sure it *wasn't* done on a whim. There is something behind the scenes. My guess is that something, given the way the world very obviously works now, was an enormous volume of pressure, threats, money and favors that all boiled down to, "get rid of this person and this enterprise, and do it now."

Maybe this changes as more leaks out. Maybe O'Keefe is a corrupt monster who is a gigantic liability that cannot be defended or tolerated. That's possible. I just doubt that it's likely. This smells like a hit.

But if I had to lay down a wager right now, I'd say that it's the Pfizer stuff that was the last straw and caused an acceleration. This is his biggest op yet, and the target - big pharma and big government directly - is not known for its tolerance to opposition or exposure. These are the biggest players on earth right now. Pfizer is huge in its own right, but the connections, policies, outcomes, risks, public mood, etc. are all under active management to try to keep it from blowing. The PV sting probably had a lot of them flinging ashtrays and screaming with rage.

But if I had to lay down a wager right now, I'd say that it's the Pfizer stuff that was the last straw and caused an acceleration. This is his biggest op yet, and the target - big pharma and big government directly - is not known for its tolerance to opposition or exposure. These are the biggest players on earth right now. Pfizer is huge in its own right, but the connections, policies, outcomes, risks, public mood, etc. are all under active management to try to keep it from blowing. You are correct.


One other thing about a 501(c) organization is that each and every member of the board/officer is personally liable for everything that goes on within that organization. We found that out when one of the VFW's in our district did not pay federal employment taxes for three years. Every officer of that VFW was on the hook for that money plus fines and penalties and the irs was starting to come after member's personal banks accounts and paychecks before the State VFW stepped in and got that put on hold.

445 I was reading some stuff about him when he died vaccindentally. What an interesting guy. It seems the pirate association just came about because he REALLY liked pirates.

Apparently he was chewing out a team after a loss years ago and started talking about pirates (anyone who has watched a Mike Leach interview will understand) and continued talking about them to the team for two or so hours. It was his way of blowing off steam. And then he was The Pirate not long after that.

I used to drink Mzrgaritas at this place and on Saturdays Jonathan Winters would come in. He drove an old, current at the time, MB 450sl and was freaking hilarious. Kind of held a comedy court and interacted with the patrons there. Good times.

When I was waiting tables at a dinner house in the San Fernando Valley Winters was a regular in the bar. He was a nice guy and sometimes he was funny, but he really had this need to buttonhole you to lay on a routine. While you had tables waiting for their drinks.

609 Having met Tyrmand, he struck me as a slimeball climber. He's one of those guys whose first move is to figure out if you're worth knowing, and if he decides you can't help him, starts looking around for someone else to talk to. We've all met people like this. He thinks very highly of himself and hates being second banana. He probably sees this as a chance to run a major organization as top dog. I have little doubt this is mostly about personal ambition on his part.

611 Hinckley would be their 3rd or 4th COO in about 2.5 years. The internal organization seems like a train wreck from my observations (similar to many small businesses).

I am betting Hinckley was hired by the Board to provide some gravitas/adult leadership to what was clearly a chaotic org, and O'Keefe just ignored/debased the guy.

O'Keefe is probably like Dana White for UFC: "President" who is the head PR/Sales, etc. Not the one in the numbers or running the org.

That being said, PV is finished if O'Keefe leaves.

Get the board to get rid of O'Keefe, Project Veritas goes out of business because conservative donors stop supporting the company that threw O'Keefe under the bus and there goes any investigative work into anything the Deep State Uniparty is doing for years.

Sure, O'Keefe will likely be able to setup a new company and investigation operation, but that will take, what... months... years? Setup the company, hire people, train people, etc. So that's all time that the Deep State Uniparty now has to run amok with anything they want to do without the meddling O'Keefe and Project Veritas giving them any problems.
