So that was the buzz last week. Now, as digested by the Daily Caller, the New York Times reports on Democrats' determination to get her off the ticket.
Some Democratic Party officials have lost faith in Vice President Kamala Harris and believe she is in a lose-lose situation for the 2024 presidential election, according to The New York Times. Harris' critics claim that whether President Joe Biden decides to run again in 2024 or not, it's a risk for a Democratic presidency. If Biden runs, opponents believe her name on the ballot could cost them the election, and if he doesn't run, they don't believe she is not a strong enough candidate to win on her own, the NYT reported, citing anonymous Democrats from the White House, Capitol Hill and across the country. "That will be in my opinion one of the most hard-hitting arguments against Biden," John Morgan, a Democratic Party donor, told the NYT. Now that Biden has insinuated that he intends to run again, the NYT reported many Democrats worry that Harris' name on the ticket as his running mate will deter voters. Their worries came after a FiveThirtyEight poll showed Harris' approval rating at 39%. "I can't think of one thing she's done except stay out of the way and stand beside him at certain ceremonies," Morgan told the NYT. If Biden doesn't run in 2024, many in the party hope to find ways to go around or "sideline" Harris without offending her or other members of the Democratic constituency, the NYT reported.In fairness to Kumala, Democrats also don't want Biden on the ticket.
Only a small minority of Democrats want President Joe Biden to run for reelection in 2024, according to a Monday poll from the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. Only 37% of Democrats want Biden to seek another term, compared to 52% last fall, according to the AP. Biden's support is heavily concentrated among older Democrats; 49% of Democrats over age 45 want him to run again compared to only 23% of those under 45.

It has probably never been harder to be a national candidate from California. The rest of the country largely despises California and would rather not vote for a Californian. They've made themselves a hate object for half the country and a lot of the other half isn't too fond of them, either.
Right now, if I had to lay a wager down, I would bet on Whitmer being the horse they'll back. She's catastrophically awful, a woman, from the interior and an aggressive tyrant.

People, by and large, do not evaluate candidates on policy except for ideologues. People basically have broad policy outcome preferences but very little idea of how to accomplish them outside of their field of knowledge. So for the most part, elections are based on superficial factors, not policy, and people support a particular candidate first and then fill in the blanks mentally about why they are wonderful and the other candidates suck.
Pretty easy to manipulate that and campaign ops people have known about it for years and what is key is to manipulate and limit the actual information that you have about a candidate.

Kamala being dependent on the Deep State to remain is still likely to be a similar useful front person for the oligarchs.

Trump will be in or he will be dead/facing prison. He has already formally announced. Nikki Haley has as well. DeSantis will have the funding but not necessarily the necessary political support in each of the state primaries necessary to win the nominations. Trump probably has a core 30-40 GOP percent that is unlikely to vote for anyone else plus the media may side with Trump reluctantly as they did in 2016 in order to sideline perhaps a more dangerous DeSantis.
On the Dem side, regardless how unhappy the rank and file Dems are with Biden, he is likely to stay the nominee if he wants it and big vote fraud will continue. I think the Biden criminal clan believes that the only way to fight off the criminal charges is to be President controlling the DOJ. So the question is who will be Biden's successor and that is what the fight is about.

But such an effort has one nasty dependency: ByteDance has to be running TikTok (US version) as a truly independent platform with no assets in Red China, no access to any of those assets by anyone in Red China, that nobody within TikTok (Us version) answered to anyone within ByteDance, and that they have full, total autonomy to go with their ring-fenced software base, physical assets and other functions.
That's not an assumption you can make, because that *isn't* how it works at all. Even if it worked that way today, one call from the CCP to the ByteDance board will result in another call to TikTok (US), which will result in changes. ByteDance does as the CCP says, and always has. There's a reason the version of TikTok they run in Red China is pretty radically different from ours.

I see things completely differently. I suspect 2016 had normal (D) cheating, and even with True Republicans sitting it out or voting for Hillary he still beat the margin of cheating. That was never supposed to happen, and it shook things up. That's why we saw multiple states stop counting across time zones when a toilet wouldn't flush in Atlanta in 2020. He had ridiculous voter turnout because everyone was voting for the economy, but Hillary's attorneys and the Secretaries of State had already established the method for the 2020 steal. It was as good as done.

This one phrase, whig, I guess I would disagree with. DeSantis has more party support than Trump, and by party, I mean the party apparatus that oversees nominations and primarys. The amount of legislative convergence from red states on what DeSantis is doing in Florida is significant. He will have better red state support from the governors' offices than Trump will.

It's what worries me. When you look at three consecutive cycles where septuagenarians and retarded people are the presumptive nominees, you're looking at one of two things. The regime is hitting its shelf life and it will die off like the USSR, or the younger contingent will seize power and go full-on YOLO, like in Venezuela.
I think we're looking at something more similar to a dying generation of LatAm power gangsters, than an exhausted generation of Slavic autocrats and citizen-victims.
My worry is that millennials will pick up the torch and burn everything down with it. G-d knows, the Boomers are finished. Gen X has rightly checked out, and I think Gen Z is too far removed to ever really grasp power, before this falls apart. That leaves us with these basketcases running everything.

I understand both of you do not want Trump to run but it is overwhelmingly likely that Trump will continue to run (he has already formally announced btw which has legal implications). So the most likely disablers are a) legal issues--the Fulton county case and the reopened Stormy case (both are longshots) or federal special prosecutor or b) death/serious injury--there are actuarial tables to figure out the probabilities of this one but he is likely enough to survive until the primaries start.
Basically, DeSantis is in a box as a candidate--he has to still run Florida and will have to announce early if he wants to tap funds to run for president.
All this is to say that it is very unlikely for Trump to drop out and DeSantis (or any other candidate) is going to have to beat him in the primaries.

Governors support each other. I'm watching the state GOP activities this legislative season. They are doing DeSantis stuff. Not Trump stuff. Now, the assumption is that that will matter in the end. My observation of the political tribes is they rally to support what seems like it is working, absent some other factor. ESG and CRT restrictions are in a number of red states working their way through the legislative process.

Party apparatus is mainly there to suck up money for its vendors. Same as the NRA. Basically there are a cluster of favored GOP vendors in each state for legal/fund raising/media relations/advertising. The GOP organizations in each state dictate that you have to use their vendors to be approved--access to candidate forums etc. Most of this spending is not really on voter turnout but simply padding their vendor's pockets--there is little evidence that expensive mailers do much of anything for example, ditto for a lot of ad placement, and so on. The most effective tool is Get out the Vote and that depends on wrangling volunteers and GOP organizations abhor doing that for decades. Because vendors typically receive about 10 percent or less of spending to manage these activities.
Essentially, Trump is like Teddy Roosevelt in 1912, he has a known brand and doesn't depend on the party apparatus. DeSantis or whoever has to create a name brand via adverts, media, etc.

My only solace for the senate and house races in 24 is the bubblings of some interesting things happening on the ground. If you look at the layoffs in tech world, there is one area that is getting battered exceedingly hard. And if that has legs, maybe we are starting to climb out of this hole.

Well to forestall that, the DNC just rigged the primary cycle in favor of Biden in 2024. For Dems, South Carolina will come first instead of NH and Iowa. SC is a party establishment state and Clyburn is the de facto leader for the Dems there.
