Kevin McCarthy Becomes a Man?
Follow-up to the last post: McCarthy smashes the media for flacking for Schiff and Swalwell. It's a lot more than the quote printed above the video.
The media keeps saying "But Santos," but he says, "Is Santos on the Intel Committee?" Then he points out that Schiff and Swalwell have repeatedly lied too, but their voters voted for them, and the voters get to decide. So Santos' voters get to decide, too. Watch the whole thing. Some quotes from Matt Margolis at PJM:"What did Adam Schiff do as the chairman of the Intel Committee? What Adam Schiff did--use his power as a chairman and lie to the American public, even the inspector general said it," McCarthy said, before going through several of Schiff's offenses, including lying about the Nunes Memo, and using his position as chairman of the Intelligence Committee to lie about Trump/Russia collusion and the Hunter Biden laptop. "So no, he does not have a right to sit on that [committee]," McCarthy said.He points out that Intel is different because what happens there, "You don't know." What he means -- and I think he should take the time to spell this out -- is that anyone on this committee can tell whatever lie he likes, and no one can check the record to see if it's true, because the record is classified and closed to the public. That puts Adam Schiff's serial Disinformation in a different category than the serial lies told by an ordinary Democrat. Schiff manipulated the state-secret classification laws of the Untied States in order to bulletproof his lies. So no, he doesn't get to do that any more. He is gone. Politicians are motivated by doing things that are in their best self-interest. If McCarthy or anyone else finds they get rewarded by doing things we like they will do more of them. Some of them are hopelessly corrupt like Biden or so insulated that they can get away with doing the wrong things like McConnell but most can be influenced if it helps their political position and that includes McCarthy.

Time will tell. My expectation is that he will do nothing to arrest the decline and will more likely to contribute to its acceleration. That is who he is, Uniparty is who he is, he's a hardcore Establishment operator and wants no reform. He was cornered once and caved into some demands. Good.
If I am proven wrong, I will acknowledge it. I have no reason to hope for that, though. I also have no reason to hope that if he returns to regular order - that's part of the deal he made - that he will do anything to curtail spending or administrative bloat. But again, I am open to being wrong on all of this.

Actually it's the electorate's inability/unwillingness to understand or act in response to all this.
The advantage in regular order - in a different country, it now appears - was that there was potential political accountability for specific votes related to appropriations. Even down to the committee level, in mark-ups.
CRs (formerly used as true temporary stopgaps to prevent "shutdowns" for a week or two) roll everything together, usually with little time to consider, and with few if any attempts at amendment (where specific issue accountability can occur, in theory).
But with an electorate that rarely seems to know or care about the substance of the way Congress votes, even in areas directly affecting people, regular order will likely prove to be a bit of a fizzle. But still better than the current approach.

Pretty much. Literally. It is usually something that is written down and debated for a couple of hundred years, seemingly settled by prior doctors of the Church, the Church members, the sense of the faithful then appears to adopt it over those hundred years in practice, then they have a conference, the college of cardinals works out the wording, and it is delivered ex cathedra from the chair of peter. Its not in anyway a spontaneous whim. It is a recognition of a prexisting reality, already recognized by active practice/acceptance of the faithful. Like the immaculate conception. (which I know is going to set off some people. Its mostly because people don't really know how this stuff occurred works that they get upset. That's not to say they agree with it, but its not crazy inconsistent contradictory stuff. Until maybe this guy - but he's hamstrung, until he gets more like minded people in the college of cardinals. he's been hard a work on that)
