The Morning Report — 1/17/23

weightandseegarl.jpg

Good morning kids. So, it seems as if the most popular, if not plausible, explanation for the explosion of Biden's "Document-Gate" into the controlled public discourse is that the powers that be do not want old Joey Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants around to run in '24. Either that or in their eyes he has outlived his usefulness as a puppet, and worse, his rapidly degenerating brain function makes his unfiltered mouth a liability.

But if that is the case, why not just try and 25th Amendment him as opposed to ruining the narrative of Trump being a reckless, dangerous foreign agent by revealing Biden doing the same things Trump was falsely accused of – and orders of magnitude worse? Knowing what we know of this CIA and FBI, all they have to do is slip a little polonium into Joey's daily gallon of Ben & Jerry's Rachel Corrie Crunch, find some Yakov Smirnoff-looking stooge, slap a MAGA hat on him and proclaim him to be Putin's cousin, and before the casket can be removed from the Capitol Rotunda and shoved into Arlington National Cemetery, our Army would be deployed into Ukraine and the National Guard called up here to round up every single non-Democrat with martial law declared.

C'mon, Langley. Do I have to do your work for you?! And yet, we have Merrick "Gumm-Shoe" Garland and company seemingly circling the wagons. For Donald Trump, they raided his home and either found nothing or attempted to paint him as some sort of criminal for the documents they did find – all of which were legally declassified and permitted to be kept by him as per the laws and regulations regarding such declassification. Biden? Not so much. And yet, get this:

Attorney General Merrick Garland is feeling the heat over the obvious double standard between the Mar-a-Lago FBI raid on Donald Trump’s home to retrieve classified documents and Joe Biden’s Car-a-Lago scandal. As a result, Biden’s hit man, who “can’t comment on an ongoing investigation,” has clearly green-lighted his patented leaks to friendly media to make excuses for his duplicity. If this weren’t such a tell for how corrupt the Justice Department is, the excuses would be funny. But since America’s system of jurisprudence in the DOJ and the FBI is clearly so irretrievably fallen, and could take civil society sliding down the hill with it, we should consider Garland’s excuses in the seriousness with which they’re offered.

Now you can laugh.

It’s going to take more than one of Garland’s no-comment-comments to convince anyone paying attention to this ridiculous charade that there’s no gambling at Rick’s. Yet, Garland’s excuse-making is amazing to behold for his audacity in believing anyone is dumb enough to believe this claptrap. . .

. . . Garland’s lackeys leaked that [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden’s own attorneys were allowed to search the documents without FBI presence (read: raid) because he trusted Biden’s attorneys to do the search for them. On his word as a Biden. “Not a joke, not a joke. . .”

. . . The DOJ raided Trump’s house because they didn’t like him.

We don’t know who’s going after Joe Biden for what, but we won’t find out because there are only two ways this special counsel probe will go: As a Mueller-like CYA cover-up operation or as a wrist slap that will be spun as a well, we investigated him and all we got was his lousy 5th Amendment, a crack pipe, and the numbers of a couple of hookers. This will be a Hunter Biden/Joe Biden proxy “investigation,” and it will end there.

Well, thank goodness we now control the House and the real investigations will begin. Like the guy above said, "Try not to laugh."

The new Republican House will soon begin investigating the Biden administration and his family, namely his brother James and son Hunter. Congressional investigations are critical to the separation of powers and make for great political theater. Yet those enthused by the prospect of investigations, revelations, and resignations ought to temper their expectations: Republicans are underachievers when it comes to oversight. . .

. . . The last and most serious attempt to use a congressional investigation against him came with the revelations of Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky. The specific transgression was perjury, but grandstanding Republicans relentlessly focused on the president's sexual peccadilloes, for which the public had already forgiven him when he first became a candidate in 1992. Republicans mistakenly tried to shame a shameless individual, and the president used their indignation against them. . .

. . . The investigation immediately hit a wall when the main antagonist in the IRS scandal, Lois Lerner, twice pleaded the Fifth. Republicans voted to find Lerner in contempt, but the Justice Department declined to pursue criminal contempt charges against her and closed its investigation. Conservatives then sought to impeach John Koskinen, the acting IRS commissioner, only to be defeated by a coalition of Democrats and moderate Republicans. Concurrent investigations concluded that the episode had resulted from mismanagement, not political intent, and that no administration principals had been involved. Lerner retired before the IRS could fire her and Koskinen remained at his post ten months after Obama left office. . .

. . . Each misfire highlights Democratic tactics that Republicans should have learned to expect by now: being criticizing as overzealous sore losers obsessed with "old news"; being characterized as prudish bullies solely interested in publishing "revenge porn"; being reminded the GOP never did anything about accusations made against the Trump family; and arguing the rules governing presidential family members' business activities are unclear.

While all of this is certainly true, the $100 trillion dollar gorilla in the room is that our entire government, both the elected and unelected bureaucracy are absolutely thoroughly corrupted that any sort of real oversight and reform, let alone punishment is my proverbial pipe dream, wrapped in an LSD trip inside a drunken stupor.

Let me revise that by stating it's not that the government has been corrupted. It's that corruption is the government. At least it has been since the early 60s if not as far back as World War 2. And it's not even government or systems. It's the people, elected or otherwise, who are corrupt.

So, what the Machiavellian hell is really going on here with this document "scandal?" And at the end of the day, does it matter? Does the ultimate outcome really change the trajectory we are on? So, Biden goes and we get Harris. Or Biden skates and either he gets re-"selected" with yet another "fortified" election or some other as yet unknown Democrat is installed. Or, even if by some 2016-like fluke the Republican candidate, whoever it may be, beats the cheat and then survives the instantaneous call for impeachment as soon as he/she is sworn in.

As Joey might say, keep the 30-round magazines fully loaded in your F-15.

You need to go back further, Roosevelt's alphabet soup agencies pre-dated WW2.

The FBI was formed in 1908. Was it ever not corrupt?

The Progressives changed a lot about how the government was run in response to numerous corruption scandals.

The difference NOW is that all the corruption appears to be pulling in the same direction.

Sterilization or other types of neutralization (such as lobotomy) have always been a goal of the technocrat. Eugenics always seems to get into it. The odd thing is, it is never about improving man by addition (making man better) but rather about... pruning others.

The thing that seems to fascinate them is extending their life span. Which is telling. It is the only thing that they see as beneficial. Get rid of the people I do not like and make me live forever.

40 USA Today and Snopes tried to float out there yesterday that the idea that the VP can't declassify documents is false - har - har! They site some Obama executive order suggesting he could.

Yeah, no. He can't. First, the EO by Obama only suggested the VP could declassify just the docs the VP himself classified, but that just an EO, not Federal Law, and its unconstitutional anyway. But USA Today and Snopes need to re-acquaint themselves with Art 2 of the US Constitution - the VP is not the executive officer and cannot assume his duties in anyway, and only the President may declassify what the Executive Branch has classified.

Almost all of the regulations regarding the handling of classified information are codified by executive orders, and for good reason. The sole power to classify and declassify information resides with the President, and he uses EOs to specify how he delegates that authority to his subordinates.

The problem is they are still edging. They try to gauge the reaction, see what they can get away with without triggering a massive response. Gas Stoves are a good, latest example. They KNOW they cannot push things TOO far and worry about it (hence Biden's remarks about the citizens being defenseless against the State.)

They want to edge to the point to where there is no defense. Then they can finally let themselves off the leash.

Strictly speaking, we are past the time when action should have been taken. They have shown us who they are. The problem is we are all locked into worrying that we would be alone. No one wants to be the Meteor.

Posted by: can of spam at January 18, 2023 08:01 AM (7oNMO)

USA Today and Snopes declared it Federal Law - so no. And the use of subordinates to perform executive branch decisions without direct involvement of the President has never been tested in court, even for just those they have de-classified themselves - and for good reason. The US Constitution does not give the authority to the Chief Executive to delegate his authority indirectly by implication. In other words, he can sign an EO suggesting that Fred the Migrant Worker from Mexico can declassify documents or have authority to push the go button on our nuclear arsenal.

I'm in the "it doesn't matter" camp. They get rid of Biden or keep him. They run him '24 or they don't. They have a palace coup or they don't. Whatever. It doesn't matter for two reasons.

First, Biden isn't in charge anyway. If they slot in Kamala to be not-in-charge instead, it will make little practical difference. The only practical difference is that she's better-spoken than Joe and is obviously healthier.

Second, none of this will blow back on the government. Whatever the schemes and whatever their purposes, the power networks and factions and whatnot are still well in place and shall continue.

Dammit. That has me thinking of a passage from Chesterton:
It is exactly this backdoor, this sense of having a retreat behind us, that is, to our minds, the sterlizing spirit in modern pleasure. Everywhere there is the persistent and insane attempt to obtain pleasure without paying for it. Thus, in politics the modern Jingoes practically say, ‘Let us have the pleasure of conquerors without the pains of soldiers: let us sit on sofas and be a hardy race.’ Thus, in religion and morals, the decadent mystics say: ‘Let us have the fragrance of sacred purity without the sorrows of self-restraint; let us sing hymns alternately to the Virgin and Priapus.’ Thus in love the free-lovers say: ‘Let us have the splendour of offering ourselves without the peril of committing ourselves; let us see whether one cannot commit suicide an unlimited number of times.’

He was what we now call “the science.” Thaxton’s answer was to ask not what Carl Sagan says, but what the evidence says.

158 Emphatically it will not work. There are thrilling moments, doubtless, for the spectator, the amateur, and the aesthete; but there is one thrill that is known only to the soldier who fights for his own flag, to the aesthetic who starves himself for his own illumination, to the lover who makes finally his own choice. And it is this transfiguring self-discipline that makes the vow a truly sane thing. It must have satisfied even the giant hunger of the soul of a lover or a poet to know that in consequence of some one instant of decision that strange chain would hang for centuries in the Alps among the silences of stars and snows. All around us is the city of small sins, abounding in backways and retreats, but surely, sooner or later, the towering flame will rise from the harbour announcing that the reign of the cowards is over and a man is burning his ships.

178 You heard it here first: the "next George Floyd" case might be just around the corner (literally, at least from where I live).

Two paramedics in Springfield IL have been charged with murder in the death of a 35-year-old man (of color) who was experiencing alcohol withdrawal symptoms. He was strapped onto the ambulance gurney face down and suffocated on the way to the hospital:

tinyurl.com/4mjcvca8

It certainly appears that the paramedics acted very unprofessionally, and a charge of something like manslaughter or negligent homicide (not sure what the IL equivalent is) would have been appropriate IMO. (If you see the female paramedic's mug shot, you would definitely not want here anywhere near you in an emergency situation.) However, there is a definite effort underway to turn this into a racial issue because the paramedics were white and the deceased man was black. This story just started going national last week and I would keep an eye on it to see what develops.

No. You lay them on their side "lateral recumbent" for that. They put him face down and pulled the chest strap tight across his back. But then, they were probably prohibited from using ketamine for chemical restraint, so I imagine the medics were in a shitty position.

208 I was lied to in the 80's by my teachers about "evolution".

They explicitly claimed that monkeys were the only other creatures on earth besides humans that used "tools".

It was a lie and a joke. But they were deadly serious.

This is why I didn't pay attention in school and got by with D's and F's. I knew they were full of shit. I just didn't know how much shit until later.

213 KB Homes, a large home builder, just reported a 68% CANCEL RATE.

Meaning that over 2/3 of Homebuyers walked away from their contracts in the quarter. Leaving KB Homes with a massive pile-up of inventory.

Last year the Cancel Rate was only 13%.

I am not even remotely surprised, assuming I am correct that the contract would be signed with a deposit and then financing would be settled closer to delivery. In September, the 30-year fixed rate was a bit over 6%. During the summer buying season, it was around 5.5% or so. By Q4, we it was flirting with (or crossing) 7%.

So assume the house is $250k and the buyers had 10% down. At 5.5%, the payment is $1,278 plus PMI. At 6.8%, it is $1,467 plus PMI. The higher interest makes that house almost 15% more expensive every month before PMI.

If the buyers were stretching - and they probably were given the economy and KB Homes' primary market segment - median income families in any given market and a lot of first-time buyers - then that price difference is huge and walk-away would become a serious consideration.

The whole purpose of the DoJ, created in 1870, was to keep the South and Southwest down and the Northeast Midwest up. It is exactly what NATO was designed to do - keep the Germans down, the Russians out and the Americans in. Methinks its time to retire the DoJ and recognize all domestic law inforcement is a State matter and not a Federal matter. 248 Vanity Fair, Apr 13, 2022, Exercise the White House of Trump's Demon Spirit. Valerie Biden Owens says she wanted "everything Trump had touched out of there."
In part, "...the latest transition, however, apparently required more extensive modifications than simply swapping some color schemes here and art choices there. That's because, according to Joe Biden's sister, they basically needed to rid the place of Donald Trump's demon spirit."

In a new memoir published Tuesday, Valerie Biden Owens, the sister and closest confidante of the 46th president, wrote that as part of the team decorating the Oval Office, she wanted "everything Trump had touched out of there." That meant getting rid of the former guy's "chosen portrait" of 19th-century populist president and ethnic cleanser Andrew Jackson and replacing it "with one of President Franklin D. Roosevelt," as well as adding "busts" ...she (also) wanted to ditch the Resolute desk Trump used and bring in FDR's..."

She's the office set up & breakdown person from the time of FJB's very 1st Senate office.

Trump had the chaotic departure from the WH & didn't seem to trust GSA's (goverment) packing. O&Joe - not so.

289 I was lied to in the 80's by my teachers about "evolution".
They explicitly claimed that monkeys were the only other creatures on earth besides humans that used "tools".
It was a lie and a joke. But they were deadly serious.
Birds use fucking tools. Many animals do.
Posted by: ... at January 18, 2023 08:55 AM (iCWt+)

What I don't understand is if everything is "evolving" then why hasn't a certain animal sprouted a wing where they didn't have one or lungs instead of gills on this one or a thumb here and there on that one...

And why must "eco systems" remain "unchanged" by outside influence if all creatures either evolve or die out. Something's missing!

More coffee...

Maybe it was my years behind the camera, with an array of perspective changing lens, that make me a little more sensitive to viewing any image and being able to immediately come to some conclusion.

I'm completely fine with evolution except for the part where we're just supposed to skip over the part where Magic Lightning From the Sky touched the clay and formed life from nothing, and it was good.

How is that not religion? And it's just hand waved away like it's no big deal, when it's the only thing that matters. The process of evolution is supposed to cover it somehow, but evolution is a minor nothing in the big picture.

I'll post the link tomorrow, but it's 100+ years old. There's a video of Norman Dodd being interviewed in the 80s about his congressional investigation of the 50s, and he had discovered the exact same perversions we're watching right now back in the early 1900s. The Carnagies started taking over the government to achieve their purposes of implementing communism in the United States. It's not a conspiracy theory. It was known in the 50s. The interview is outstanding.

And Joe Biden's favorite sexual interest is what their favorite was back then, too. Almost like it's all connected.

342 247. That began almost immediately after 1/6 & was even mentioned during the "investigation." On 12/28/22, everyone &/or everything worldwide reported Biden doesn't trust (some) Secret Service.

WashExaminer, "In his book, The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden's White House, Chris Whipple writes of Biden's "discomfort" with Secret Service agents who are or were "MAGA sympathizers." Biden also doubts complaints regarding one of his dogs biting. "Whipple's book, scheduled for wider release on Jan 17, dishes on other behind-the-scenes details about Biden's administration."

Newsweek: In part, "Biden is reportedly concerned that "white ex-cops from the South" serving as Secret Service agents are secretly "MAGA sympathizers."

Theater to come on stronger & faster? The progressives aren't pleased with FJB's progress. Sept. the White House announced J. 346 The classified docs in Biden's possession are a Godsend to the donkeys. Because now they get to use the justification of "mishandling classified information" to get rid of both Trump and Biden.

The donkeys are not about to give up on imprisoning Donald Trump. And the classified docs angle remains their #1 pathway to that end. What Biden has done is to give them a reason to appear "even-handed" because now they can go after him as well as Trump for the same thing. The excuse now exists to get rid of Biden, the excuse they have been desperately casting about for.

Of course, Biden will simply be allowed to resign. Trump will still be prosecuted. And then Kamala 2.0 will pardon him, and the J6 protesters for good measure, so she can head into 2024 as "Stateswoman, Healer, and Uniter of a Nation."

Biden forced out but without being charged; Trump convicted, pardoned, and humiliated, with the wind taken out of his presidential run. And Kamala 2.0 fully rebranded and "positioned for success."

It's perfect. This must really have the donkeys believing in God again.

348 Re: Thaxton:

That article was not even remotely a reflection of the truth surrounding Thaxton and his work.

The truth is that origin of life research is still in it's infancy. There have been some advances, such as Miller Yuri, but we really don't know how it happened, and probably won't ever really KNOW, you know?

That "we don't know" is being insinuated to mean "God did it" is simply the "God of the Gaps" fallacy.

The truth is that there is still a lot of very real debate on origin of life, and that, indeed, WE DON'T KNOW. That people like Thaxton tend to draw assumptions from that is irrelevant. WE DON'T KNOW doesn't "prove" God. Nor does it even indicate God.

Provide any proof whatsoever that it was divine magic, then let's talk. But shooting "holes" in what every scientist will admit is very preliminary and speculative research doesn't "prove God". No matter how much theists want to dunk on the reality that we simply just don't know.

Yet.

Posted by: Goober at January 18, 2023 03:21 PM (Hgvgt)

349 I also hate that the article brought in Darwin, who did very little work at all on origin of life research. His research was in evolution, which is NOT origin of life research, but rather the way that life, once it was already here, diversified like we see today. Evolution does not speak in any way about origin of life. Nor does it attempt to. it's a very common misconception.

But dragging Darwin into it, when Darwin did very little on this particular area of research, is a pretty blatant and dishonest attempt to draw evolution into question.

At this point, evolution is not up for debate. It happens. It's as close to proven as anything can be. If God is eventually determined to be responsible for the origin of life, we already know that he used evolution to diversify it.
