Mayor Butt Refused Key Meetings During Unanounced Secret "Paternity Leave"
I think it's important to note that the paternity leave was secret and unacknowledged. He didn't tell people he was on paternity leave -- he represented to the public that he was doing his job as usual.
He just ghosted his job without telling anyone, except for key aides needed to cover for him and pretend he "just stepped out of the office for a moment." He has defended himself saying he took all the "key meeting" he needed to while on this Double Secret Probation Paternity Leave. But documents obtained by a watchdog organization show that that's just another lie by this grasping, ambitious-but-lazy incompetent.Watchdog group Protect the Public's Trust (PPT) obtained the records through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Department of Transportation (DOT), according to PPT. Buttigieg was reportedly using his parental leave status to delay key meetings, including a call with Iowa GOP Sen. Chuck Grassley, according to newly released public records. Grassley's office requested a meeting with Buttigieg about a Buy American waiver request for the I-74 bridge connecting Iowa and Illinois. The DOT told Grassley's office on September 21, 2021, that "unfortunately, the Secretary is currently on leave due to the birth of twins, and that may lead to a delay in possibly scheduling a meeting in the near future," records show. Grassley's office ended up scheduling the meeting on Dec. 1 with Edward McGlone, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Congressional Affairs at the DOT. Records show Buttigieg's office also delegated other meetings because of his parental leave, including a speaking engagement with the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. "It appears as though, during his paternity leave, he was not always available when called upon and did not have some necessary contingencies in place to ensure the continuity of operations at DOT," PPT Director Michael Chamberlain said in a statement to the Daily Caller. Yup. There's a downside to an executive position, and that downside is that you're always on. Always.
Why do those guys make the big bucks? Because it *sucks.* You'll work 70 hours per week, minimum. You'll take a vacation a year, but you'll be in at least a few important meetings and shit hits the fan, well, the wife and kids have to finish that pleasant trip to Ibiza on their own because you have to go home and put the fire out. You're on the road a non-trivial amount of the year. The work is constant and continuous.
If you aren't prepared for that, don't go out for an executive position. The perks are pretty great and there's a ton of money involved, but you can never, ever step off the treadmill. That's the tradeoff.
Boot-edge-edge wants the perks but doesn't want the treadmill. And because it's government instead of business, he gets to have that.

Hubbymayhem and I chose adoption. The process to adopt an infant in the US is insane. Red tape wait years more red tape then get told oh no you don't qualify for adoption. Or there aren't any infants available. The only people who can easily adopt an infant in the US are celebrities or gay/lesbian. And they better have a six figure income or more.
It was time consuming and expensive to adopt our girl from China but worth every bit of the process. The biggest expense was the travel and it took about a year total. I got a beautiful daughter and walked through Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall, and the Summer Palace.
