Meet The PetMorons

muddnslush.jpg

I don't think I have sent this to you. This was Christmas, 2020 with Slush, Mudd and Santa Snoopy enjoying the sun. I earlier sent you a set of photos where Mudd tricked Slush out of the bed so she could take over. As you can see, they both generally get along.

Merry Christmas and Thanks for all you do!

JML

They have a BIG Santa friend. And interesting names. Nice dogs!

My two rescue cats: this is Tutti-frutti, so named by my dad when we thought he was a girl. I found him under a construction dumpster at work, maybe 4-5 weeks old and all alone. Hand raised with our labradoodle Noodle, and acts more like a dog than a cat! Best cat ever, and now 14...

Got little girl cat 4 years later from a local rescue at around 6 months old , trapped in an empty field next to some apartments with her sibs. Still kind of feral, afraid of dad, but really attached to me. Now 10, and named Henrietta Hot Paws, because as a kitten she had the warmest feet I had ever felt, and still hates cold feet more than anything.

Call me a lurker, I don't remember what nic I used before.

Fine cats. Interesting how their experiences as kittens stay with them . . .

After our dog Buggs died in 2021 I wasn't sure if I would get another dog. But my husband, Mr. B, found a dog that needed to be rescued from a bad situation, and so now we have Beau! He is a 4 year old mixed breed dog, likely with some boxer and pittie. He is full of energy and love and I just hope that we can keep up with him! He is housebroken but needs a lot of basic manners training. Here is a picture of him with his nose in my face first thing in the morning.

MammaB

Well, now we will know that nose anywhere! From his description, maybe that close-up is the best photo you could get for now. We will be watching the comments to see how his manners training goes! Energy and love don't always add up to sitting still for photos!

Fine Christmas cats.

Grilled dogs: This is three of the four, the tan one couldn't be arsed to get out of mom's bed. All rescues, the elder girl is Ph.D smart.

Big one in small basket is Monte. Little one in big basket Minnie the youngest. Pack boss Mandy on the floor.

JEM on AoS for the past decade.

They look content.

5 Lovely pets... Those last three dogs look like they are ready for Santa to swoop down the chimney. I'm sure he'll have a bag of toys and treats for them...

Two of my own kitties have decided to steal my office chair. So I have to make do with a folding chair...

6 As many at least of Tech thread might know worked at the Philadelphia Animal shelter this past week. Quite sad to see former pets to strays come into the place.
But do want to report on what I saw all week and all quite happy to say they do a fantastic job. They have plenty of employees and volunteers there, clean kennels out daily washing them out. Send bedding out to get cleaned daily and volunteers walk dogs out in parking lot. They keep track of behaviors and note such as good with other dogs, playful or loves balls.
Out for a couple weeks but will get back again, shame can't bring one home.

7 I've been buying Paisley soup bones lately. She loves the meet and marrow. And then she has a toy for a few days. Her determination in the gnawing is inspiring to me.

Seconded. Missed the bodging and puttering thread because bodging and puttering. Got 4 stepped panels of plywood cut that will be the framework for a 2-step staircase for the house. In the midst of cutting 2X2 cleats to enable the treads and risers to be attached. Glue and screws.

13 No, it died of old age. He broke the rope but I would let him play with the individual lights. Those finally got enough chews to be done.

25 Love Christmas pet photos. When I was growing up ( 4 or 5 years old) we had a cat named Spitz and a Scottie named Pepper. One day we were in the kitchen eating when we heard noise and then a pop like glass breaking. And then the same thing again. And then again. My mom and Dad got up to see what was happening and found the cat, Spitz knocking the Christmas ball ornaments off the tree and her accomplice, Pepper , sitting on and crushing them.

That exact same thing happened to me and the wife going to work one cold dark winter morning in Connecticut. To this day I do not see how I avoided hitting that deer. I pulled over and got the flashlight out to check the car out for damage because I was absolutely certain that I had to have hit him.

30 Yay Pet Thread!

Reindeer tryouts is one heckuva pic!

JEM: Monte, Minnie, and Mandy? Ever confusing?

MammaB: Beau's nose! That shot is a scientific demonstration of the proportions of the dog's brain dedicated to what senses. Our Daisy's nose is everything, followed by ears, then that itch by her tail.

33 Afternoon, all! A gloomy and cool day here, perfect for sitting indoors with cats and computer friends, and a Have Gun -- Will Travel episode.

Henrietta Hot Paws looks very much like what my Dagny Sophia the Siberian will probably grow up to be like. She already looks much like her mother Sofia's pictures, just smaller.

Brewmeistr's Daxter and Simba, and A Lurker's Tutti-Fruitti, are beauties as well. There's nothing like longhaired cats. Daxter (if he's the mostly-white one) reminds me of my late Chekov, the Ailing Codger Cat, who passed on this last March.

35 Awww! Everyone is so cute today! And everyday, let’s be honest.

The kitty boys are being very extra today. Maybe because of the change in weather? Even though they never go outside? I have pulled them out of the tree 4 times, 5 ornaments became history, branches were chewed, a toy mouse somehow ended up in the branches, and then somebody threw up glitter. Yeah, happy caterday!

42 Oh, and Stirling, once the Evil Kitten of War and Pestilence and now known as the Duke of Vicksburg, continues to fill out at 9 months. I suspect he weighs about 10 lbs. now, not fat, energetic with me and with Dagny. But he still nuzzles and kneads my arm in the morning when I wake up and sits purring near me on the couch.

I wonder how he'll react when Dagny goes into heat the first time. Before, he was the aggressive one: "Hel-lo, bay-bee!" Now, she'll be "Hel-lo, sailor!"

62 Continuing the stray cats saga. Recap: my elder daughter has been feeding 6 feral kittens, 3 black and 3 gray tabbies, birthed in Chili's parking lot. They live in the storm drains. Initially the Mum was there too but she's long gone. About 2 months now so they are growing well. Lately one black cat has not been seen so it may have gone wandering. A few weeks ago one of the grays got friendlier and would greet her as she arrived, and eventually she was able to stroke it while it ate. Now they have all got friendlier and yesterday 2 of them climbed in the car to smell it out.
