Byron York: The FBI Might Have Prepared the Battlespace So That Twitter Would Believe That the Hunter Biden Laptop Was "Hacked" By the Russians -- and Get Them To Censor It Without Ever Officially Giving the Order to Do So

Yes, I think this is obviously what happened, but here's what happened, all spelled out:

Turns out there was a complaint to the Federal Election Commission concerning Twitter's action, dating from October 2020, when the New York Post story was published. The complaining group was the Tea Party Patriots Foundation, which alleged that by censoring the Hunter Biden article, Twitter had essentially made an "in kind" contribution to the Biden campaign. The group lost the complaint, but as part of the process, Twitter's chief censor, Yoel Roth -- his actual title was "head of site integrity" -- filed a declaration with the FEC.

In that declaration, Roth said that since 2018, he had had "regular meetings with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and industry peers regarding election security." Roth revealed that in those meetings, the federal government officials said they were expecting some sort of 2016-style foreign election interference in the lead-up to the 2020 election. Here is what Roth said, in its entirety:

During these weekly meetings, the federal law enforcement agencies communicated that they expected "hack and leak" operations by state actors might occur in the period shortly before the 2020 presidential election, likely in October. I was told in these meetings that the intelligence community expected that individuals associated with political campaigns would be subject to hacking attacks and that material obtained through those hacking attacks would likely be disseminated over social media platforms, including Twitter. These expectations of hack-and-leak operations were discussed throughout 2020. I also learned in these meetings that there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden.

Just to review: Yoel Roth, Twitter's head of site integrity, was warned by the FBI to be on the look-out for Russian "hack and leak" operations and was specifically told that they would "likely" be coming in "October" 2020, and further, that there were "rumors" an "operation would involve Hunter Biden."

So, when the Hunter Biden laptop does surface in October 2020, what would Twitter think?

They would think what the FBI had deliberately pre-programmed them to think: That it was a Russian "hack and leak" operation.

Remember that Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook, said something similar in an interview with podcaster Joe Rogan. "The FBI, I think, basically came to us, some folks on our team, and was like, 'Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert. ... We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that, basically, there's about to be some kind of dump that's similar to that. So just be vigilant.'"

Let me add a note that Zuckerberg would not confirm that they also mentioned Hunter Biden specifically to him -- but he also did not deny it.

Byron York now quotes Miranda Divine, who reminds you that the FBI had Hunter Biden's laptop for a year and so knew it was damning.

Further, given that they were spying on Trump, and they were also spying on Rudy Giuliani, the man in Trump's camp who had the laptop-- AND THEREFORE WOULD KNOW GIULIANI WAS ABOUT TO LEAK IT TO THE PRESS.

It looks very much as if the FBI pre-bunked a story it knew was coming about Hunter Biden. But how would it know The Post was going to publish the story in October 2020? Well, the FBI was spying on Trump's then-lawyer Rudy Giuliani's online cloud, under the pretext of an investigation into alleged foreign agent registration violations, a probe which conveniently was dropped this year. The covert surveillance warrant on Giuliani gave the FBI access to emails in August 2020 from Delaware computer repair store owner John Paul Mac Isaac disclosing information damaging to Joe Biden from the laptop Hunter Biden had abandoned at his store in April 2019. The FBI also had access to my messages with Giuliani in October discussing when The Post would publish the story.

So the FBI knew about the laptop, knew what was on the laptop, knew that Trump's key advisor Giuliani was about to get the laptop leaked to the Post in October 2020 -- at the same time the FBI has sent out FBI agents to tell the heads of the social media monopolies that there are Russian "hack and leak" operations coming specifically in October 2020, specifically about Hunter Biden.

You'll have to trust my memory on this, but I just read that when Elvis Chan was directly asked by people at Facebook or Twitter (forget which) if they were right to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop -- if it was the Russian "hack and leak" operation he had warned them of -- he refused comment.

He knew it was not a Russian hack and leak operation.

But, having worked hard to suggest to them the laptop was a Russian hack and leak operation, he wasn't going to admit that it wasn't when directly asked.

They were doing what the 7th Floor of the Justice Department directed him to direct the social media companies to do.

Back to Byron York:

If that is accurate, the authorities might have had a very specific purpose when they warned Roth that "there were rumors that a hack-and-leak operation would involve Hunter Biden." And when the New York Post published its story on Oct. 14, 2020, less than three weeks before Election Day, Roth knew just what to do.

What does it mean? Think about this. There has been a debate about whether Twitter's suppression of the Hunter Biden story violated the First Amendment. In a previously unknown and improbable development, a Democratic member of Congress, Rep. Ro Khanna, told Twitter at the time that the censorship decision "seems a violation of the 1st Amendment principles" and "seems not in the keeping of the principles of NYT v Sullivan," referring to the famous Supreme Court press freedom case. Twitter, obviously, went ahead anyway.

Elon Musk has called that a clear violation of the First Amendment. But remember that Khanna said the decision violated the "principles" of the First Amendment, not necessarily the amendment itself. Twitter defenders quickly charged that Musk has a "profound misunderstanding" of the First Amendment because "the First Amendment regulates government conduct. It does not regulate private actors," in the words of writer David French. Twitter is a private company, the argument goes, and can censor whatever it wants without violating the First Amendment.

Fine. But now a more complex story is emerging. What if the government, through selective leaking of secret information to Twitter officials, created the conditions under which Twitter's natural response when the New York Post story was published, a response following government guidance, would be to censor the story? If that is the case, then no, the federal government did not violate the First Amendment. Indeed, it would have caused an uproar and would have been a gross violation of the First Amendment had the FBI shut down the dissemination of a press story. So the FBI persuaded Twitter to do it. And since Twitter is a private company -- Voila! -- there's no violation of the First Amendment.

Oh?

I think we're talking about a fucking coup here, myself.

26 Coup?

I have been saying this from the start. What everyone seems to forget is that most coups use the laws of a country and false or trumped up charges, emergency powers, exigent circumstances, etc.

They are not lawless, but instead use the laws as cover for extreme actions that really are illegal.

27 so yeah, clever.

the feds get a warrant from a cross dressing, furry enthusiast sissy magistrate...they SWAT raid and scoop up everything ever written by the target. And then they also spy on everything they do.

They're not interested in criminal prosecutions, although with the rubber stamp that is DC-Gitmo and Portland, why not...but anyway, they're inside the walls.

and as the 11th circuit pointed out...."we can't just make up rules for former presidents or people who are being targeted for political persecution. This warrant signed by the sissy furry magistrate is just as valid as anything else in the constitution...you do like the constitution, don't you?"

42 The Twitter hacks still deserve some of the blame, though. Taibbi's long chain of tweets the other day stated that the hacks at Twitter both knew that the rationale they were claiming for censorship was nonsensical, and that they intentionally shut Dorsey - the CEO at the time - out of the decision loop (didn't even tell him about it).

The FBI apparently primed them to shut it down, but they can't use the FBI to dodge blame for it. Both the FBI and the Twitter hacks are at fault here.

43 So the FBI was worried about "2016-style Russian interference" in 2020? I think by that point it was pretty established that there was, in fact, no major "Russian interference" save for some minor FB buys.

And if they FBI is so concerned about "foreign interference" just what efforts have they made up to now, to determine to what extent the Russians or Chinese "amplified" (to use their terms) the George Floyd/BLM kerfuffle that basically burned half our cities down in 2020, and which did more to divide our country racially and politically more than about any event since the riots of the 1960s?

And what of all the WEF money and Greta Thurnberg and other international actors waging war on American energy independence? And what of all the foreign interests shilling for an invasion of the US southern border?

And how much of our billions of support for Ukraine has been pressured by paid lobbyists and paid off politicians acting as undeclared foreign agent?

So you want to eliminate all this foreign interference in our politics? Then by all means let's go there.

The laptop documents Joe Biden selling his office to foreign governments and skimming kickbacks from foreign aid. This is criminal. It is corroborated by other evidence, e.g one of the Biden's discarded "partners" wants to testify.

"It's just Hunter's dick pics" is a standard Leftist deflection. Regarding that, shielding Hunter from federal prosecution for pedophile sex and child pornography is also a legal issue.

Many, many questions arise.

What, exactly, was false that got promoted during the 2016 election?
And was it any different than any previous election? How much money and energy did the Soviet Union spend on trying to keep Ronald Regan from being elected, or re-elected?
What was the approach back then by the press?
Why does something coming from Russia necessarily mean its bad or wrong or has to be ignored?
What other foreign nations were pushing to change the 2016 elections (like WEF, Saudi Arabia, etc) and why is there no concern about that?

-That the intelligence is solid and reliable
-That the press is reliably non partisan and honest
-That the FBI is not utterly compromised and corrupt for one party

Keep asking for God's love to reveal itself to you. It will happen in God's time. While you wait on Him, keep reminding yourself as many times a day as you can whether a course of action would bring you closer to Him or farther away. And consider each step forward or backward as a learning experience in the way of carrying your particular cross.

177 Bulgaroctonus, we refer to the "four hymn sandwich" often as Catholics. All hymns are generally sung by the congregation, but each parish has its own norms. We do a great deal of chant at our parish, and since it's kinda new to us many of the people in the pews do not join in. We also cut back on the hymns during Lent and the first part of Advent to encourage silent reflection.

That's more complicated than things need to be. That's a major and complicated cover-up for something that, at the time, nobody expected to ever become public knowledge. That's real 10-dimensional chess.

I think it's more likely that what is described is akin to what actually happened. They just spoke in their vague terms about "hack and leak" operations (with or without the prior knowledge that the story was about drop) and knew that the commissars would know what to do. They did know what to do. They did it.

JUST IN - German raids target "Reichsbürger" group who allegedly plotted to overthrow the government.

Over 3000 police officers detained 25 people.

||An estimated 50 men and women are alleged to have been part of the group, said to have plotted to overthrow the republic and replace it with a new state modelled on the Germany of 1871 – an empire called the Second Reich.

“We don’t yet have a name for this group,” said a spokeswoman for the federal prosecutor’s office. The interior minister said it was apparently made up of an organisation “council” and a military arm.

Wednesday’s dawn raids are being described as one of the biggest anti-extremism operations in modern German history. Three thousand officers took part in 150 operations in 11 of Germany’s 16 states, with two people arrested in Austria and Italy.

Almost half of arrests took place in southern states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.||

I feel that I have some moral authority here in my situation and I can only say that some times it is awfully hard to see God's goodness and providence in things that happen. But in time, He will always shine through and it will begin to make sense again, some day.

God doesn't demand any more than He provides. Its just hard sometimes to see that in this veil of tears.

I used to be the kind of guy who being smart, disciplined, well educated, and motivated, thought I can handle anything that came up. I then had 3 special needs kids in a row. I went another 10 years still trying to do it through my own power. It broke me. I was falling apart and failing. It was not survivable. I don't know why, but one new years resolution was to take up prayer. I decided to pray the rosary once a week. Read a book, secret of the rosary written by a saint, looked up how to pray it. Did once it. Cried spontaneously. Never stopped praying. Every day ever since. Started taking Church seriously. Reading the Bible. Read book of Tobit first. Working on a commentary of Job, now. Its nuts. That change didn't come from me. I made a decision, acted, and then something else stepped in - Grace. Life is still hard, but a lot more manageable.

I totally get it, but that's a shame. His language is gratitude. And although I don't know your story I am certain you have had many blessings. Many things to be grateful for, even now. Things you have that some would give everything for. Like two working legs.

Please don't read this as me not feeling sorry for whatever has happened to you. Whatever you've lost, or however you've been hurt.

I actively try to quiet my own resentful feelings and speak to Him in gratitude and it helps me feel better. You could argue I do it *because* it helps me feel better. It's a choice I have. And I'm fortunate the days when I'm not overtaken by negative feelings, but it does happen.

And when I say better I mean a different kind of "better" than the resentment truck. A better better. I dunno. I will pray for you anyway if you don't mind.

You don't "find" peace in Him. He gives it to you.

It is not something lacking in you or anything you have done. It is ALL a gift from Him. Keep speaking your resentment to Him. He can take it. He knows what place you are in and what is really going on with you. You need to get it off your chest so you can move forward. If you try to manufacture peace in your heart yourself you will not be able to, life is too hard for us to cry "peace where there is no peace". Just speak your resentment, ask for forgiveness for anything you may have done and wait.

It is that easy. And that hard. Crosses are looked upon with dismay for a reason. This is a tough one but you will have the help you need.

Sounds like the dialogue at the Book of Job. It is never an insurmountable challenge to keep one's heart open to our Lord. That is simply one of Stan's tricks. Life on Earth is but a honing and forging of one's soul for transformation. It is where we find the Book of Knowledge of Good and Evil to be bitter because humans are always fallible and the trials and tribulations that one endures in this earthly existence are part of that Book.

Remember, the Lord's listening is always present and life is indeed a gift that is both bitter and sweet in part. But it is no sin to be glad that one is alive and to find comfort and peace in viewing his works including your child. Look for good and you will find it. Look for evil, ditto. Life has both of those.

305 The CEO of a public biotech learned of an adverse ruling from the FDA about its key drug in development. Stupidly, he dumped all his shares. That's insider trading.

The CEO's broker had Martha Stewart as a client and put her in the stock. He called Martha who was on the tarmac going on vacation and advised her to sell because the CEO was. She said yes. As to Martha, that wasn't insider trading, but the laws around this have always been muddy.

The FBI came knocking on her door unnanounced. Their story is that Martha misled them, as duly noted in the paper 302s they filed. The FBI also seized her laptop and went forensic. Martha had deleted an e-mail you see, but then undeleted it.

This is what got Martha in jail. Not insider trading.

308 There's a kind of spiritual injury that seems to happen when you first really internalize the fact that humanity is shit and the world is completely broken. The early church was born in an era of suffering the like of which the vast majority of people, let alone Americans, can't even conceive of right now. Life, by our standards, well and truly sucked for everyone, rich or poor. Sure, wealth brought some comforts, but if you owned a horse? Congratulations, you're a cavalry man now. And if you refuse we'll kill you, take your horse, throw your kids into the legions, and marry your widow off to whoever is owed a favor this week. The early church was born among people who were so well acquainted with unfairness and suffering they didn't even realize that it wasn't normal.

We, on the other hand, have inherited a world of trust and prosperity to live in that is only occasionally sullied by evil. We see that gift being stolen from us, we see evil taking over, and it's bewildering.

I've had to pull myself out of the muck and mire of this life and it's challenges so many times I've lost count. I've watched friends die in despair and hopelessness. I have sinned so much it's hard to remember when that wasn't the case. I've seen more devastation and the worse that mankind has to offer. Yet through it all The Lord was still there for me. In fact I later realize he carried me the entire time. Never lose hope. Always pray for Him to help you understand his purpose. Give him thanks and ask for the strength and will to do good. Don't despair. Care for your fellow man no matter what, as He showed us by his example. Always do everything for His greater glory. It has seen me through many bad times and has been the most rewarding thing in this life.

313 leoncaruthers, none of this is easy. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and the light will come through. I feel similarly to you right now when I let myself. I don't see a way out of so many problems. But the choice to go through hell or stay there is yours. If you keep going, you eventually are done and can lay your burdens down. As long as you're still breathin' and tryin'.

Been there. Seriously I have been where I didn't even want to be in paradise, I just wanted to cease to exist, to vanish. I keep thinking of that scene in Platoon, which had a few bits. The "bad guy" Sergeant is actually a really good leader while the stoner "good guy" Sargent is basically worthless. In this scene a guy gets hit, bad and is crying out in pain, and they need to keep quiet so they can move safely. The Sarge leans over the guy while they are doing medical work on him and puts his hand over the guy's mouth

"TAKE THE PAIN" he orders. Stay silent and take it. Medical help is on the way. Until then you have a duty to take it. I try to think of that when I'm facing very hard times like right now.

Don't overanalyze it, don't worry about being perfect or meeting some arbitrary standard. Just plead for His mercy. It's really all we can do. The rest will follow.

Been where you are. It never got better until I let go of the resentment. It was like that was the only thing I had to remember my dead babies by and I couldn't bear to let it go. But I couldn't carry that much resentment. I had to give it over to God. It felt like a part of me was dying to do it. I just flat couldn't carry it any more.

Once I let the resentment go, I was able to come to a place where the memories of my children became a blessing and not a curse to God. And I realized what I had learned from that particular cross.

344 I don’t understand why the government has the right to pressure private companies not to post information that was hacked, if the information is correct, not since the New York Times/Pentagon Papers case. Just try to imagine Watergate era reporters being warned by the FBI not to release documents taken from the government. They’d laugh in their faces. Of course the same media have no problem reporting on countless illegal leaks from government officials, even after many of them have been proven to be lies.
