The Morning Report — 12/2/22

razormaojobs.jpg

Good morning, kids. It pisses me off no end to have to do this but it's something that I feel I have to get out of the way before moving on to the fight for freedom abroad and here in our own country. Y'know, trivial crap like that.

So, let's play a little game of compare and contrast, shall we?

Donald Trump / Kanye West / Nic Fuentes
vs.
Barack Obama / Jeremiah Wright / Louis Farrakhan

How about this example?

Bernie Madoff vs. Sam Bankman-Fried

Or . . .

Ashli Babbitt / Roseanne Boyland /unarmed, nonviolent J6 dupes
vs.
BLM / Antifa

I think you catch my meaning. Whatever one feels about Donald Trump and his worth as the standard-bearer for 2024 – and I am not necessarily sanguine about supporting him myself for reasons other than this BS – it is painfully obvious that this kind of garbage, along with the shampeachments, indictments, bureaucratic persecutions and all the rest of it are meant to make him absolutely toxic to voters as well as any potential allies and nominees in his next administration. That is if he survives this sliming, or else is induced into stepping on his own dick by taking the bait. Meh. Any time he defends himself it will be spun as such.

Look, you can support Trump or DeSantis or some candidate to be named later. And there are valid reasons to support or reject any of them. But, if you believe Trump's one-off sit down with a mentally unstable West and an uninvited Fuentes makes him a Nazi, while Obama having as his priest and confessor a rabid, unreconstructed Jew-hater all his adult life is a non-story, then you're a Democrat. Or Piers Morgan.

Basta cosi.

* * * * *

In mentioning both Ashli Babbitt and Roseanne Boyland, who are martyrs in every sense of that word, this happened in Iran a few days ago:

A man was killed by security forces in Iran after he honked his car horn to celebrate the country’s World Cup loss to the US, a human rights group said Wednesday — as anti-government protests erupted across the country following the defeat.

Mehran Samak, 27, was allegedly shot in the head at an anti-regime demonstration in Bandar Anzali Tuesday night after he rejoiced in the country’s 1-0 defeat, the Iran Human Rights group said, according to the BBC.

The alleged shooting came as Iranians opposed to the country’s “murderous” political regime took to the streets to celebrate the soccer team’s loss to its longtime political rival in Qatar Tuesday.

Let's keep sending Iran pallets of cash and give them the green light to get nukes because, Israel bad, or something. And Donald Trump's an anti-Semite. Oops. Sorry.

Over in China, where it's equally suicidal to stand up to among the most repressive regimes in the world (Xi's role model Mao Zedong butchered 60 million of his own people, making the other socialist heroes Hitler and Stalin look like amateurs in comparison), the junta in DC has kept silent. Mostly because a large segment of this government on both sides of the aisle (*cough!* McConnell! *cough!*) and most especially the Vegetable-in-Chief himself is owned by them, along with the private sector. And whatever the Chinese could not steal from us in terms of technology was eagerly given to them on a silver platter by our own high-tech industries. The tools of repression are being tested out over there because no doubt in the very near future they will be used right here to put us down and keep us down.

Tim Cook's Apple is in bed with the Red Chinese now in much the same way as IBM was with the Third Reich. And as Daniel Greenfield brilliantly shows, it's been going on for a lot longer than just Cook's tenure.

“Think Different”, Apple’s slogan, actually means collaborating with a Communist dictatorship where thinking differently is a crime. And it also means suppressing free speech in America.

That’s why Apple is threatening free speech on Twitter just as it’s threatening it in Shanghai.

But that is what the company has always been behind the reality distortion field of its ads. “Think Different” has never meant anything other than, “Shut up and do what the visionaries tell you. . . ”

. . . Jobs, the talented marketer who had positioned Apple as the company fighting totalitarianism with its 1984 ad, was aggressively offshoring the company’s labor to Communist China.

What China had to offer was mass production under a ruthlessly totalitarian system that would, when Jobs decided to revamp the iPhone a month before launch, wake up 8,000 workers at midnight for a 12 hour shift.

At an Obama dinner, Jobs bluntly confirmed, “Those jobs aren’t coming back.”

“What U.S. plant can find 3,000 people overnight and convince them to live in dorms?” Apple’s supply manager asked.

The dorms, where 12 workers live to a tiny room, everyone is monitored and so many have committed suicide that nets were put up to catch the bodies, were the real “Think Different”.

Steve Jobs loved China and the Communist dictatorship loved him back. His famous black turtleneck appeared to echo the Mao suit. There are golden busts of Jobs in China looking like a Communist dictator. When Jobs died, there was hysterical mourning in China. There was no mourning for the deaths of workers at the Foxconn plants where Apple products were made. . .

. . . The company wasn’t just once again collaborating with a Communist dictatorship responsible for the murder of countless millions, but it was screwing its own users, the naive students who had paid premium prices for its slave labor products because they believed in Apple.

They believed, like so many Americans and Europeans, that Apple stood for something.

And Apple does. It stands for tyranny.

That’s why Apple is threatening Twitter’s place in its app store because under Elon Musk the platform has begun to offer the very thing Apple is helping China stamp out: freedom.

It’s a mistake to believe that Apple is just doing what it’s told. That’s a fundamental misunderstanding of the company as unfortunate as the one by the protesters risking their lives while believing that Apple wouldn’t kick the chair out from under its users and their movement.

Apple isn’t a great American company, it’s a great Chinese company. Its fundamental worldview is Maoist. Its simplicity of control isn’t just about manipulating interfaces, but people. Its ad campaigns, from ‘1984’ to ‘Think Different’, have always been regime propaganda. Jobs, unlike his genuinely talented co-founder, Steve Wozniak, held people in contempt. His vision of technology was essentially Communist: depriving people of control for their own good. . .

. . . Apple’s vision for America isn’t any different than for China. In both countries, Apple helps a leftist elite implement its collectivist vision by offering customers a poisoned chalice of convenience in exchange for data harvesting and control. The company doesn’t empower its customers, it tricks them into giving up control so that they can be better controlled.

That is why it’s coming for Twitter and threatening it over its newfound free speech.

“We have created, for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology,” a Big Brother analogue intoned in Apple’s famous 1984 commercial, “secure from the pests purveying contradictory thoughts.”

Jobs was a fan of Orwell’s book. Unfortunately he viewed it as a manual.

It's not just Apple. It's Google, Microsoft and a whole litany of companies that are working directly with the Chi-Coms to develop these systems. Systems that are on your smart phones, computers and probably every single device you come in contact with that has a microchip in it. Essentially, everything. Full disclosure: I write on a Mac and have used them since the 80s. Even if I could switch over, it would be like changing deck chairs on the Titanic. Ugh.

We already see what our law enforcement and national security agencies are capable of, as well as who and what they consider to be the greatest threats to said national security. That would be us. Object to the outcome of elections? The sexualization of your children? High gas prices? You'll be lucky if all they do is throw the book, or in this case iBook, at you. That or wind up like the guy who cheered the US beating Iran.

Have a good weekend.

12 I think you catch my meaning. Whatever one feels about Donald Trump and his worth as the standard-bearer for 2024

It will be same as 2016 and 2020, the campaign and the surrounding events would be epic (eg. Summer of Love, Mostly Peaceful Protests, people adhering themselves to inanimate things)

There will be constant glow from all of the hair on fire night after night. Trump will once again score even more votes than anyone has ever received.

But when the ballots are counted there won't be 270 electoral votes.

36 Angered as she is by “snotty tweets,” Warren would clearly prefer to instill fear than to promote the creation of wealth.

At least for me, I have to understand things like this as little simple models. The Warrens of the world, and they make up the vast majority of people, aren't as interested as much in improving their own wealth by - say - 5% ... as they are in improving the gap in wealth between them and everyone else by five percent. They'll gladly settle for less - as long as that wealth gap between them and everyone else grows.

To the Warrens of the world, rich is relative. Its no fun to be on a continent where everyone's a millionaire.

The piss-poor work ethic and drug abuse is so rampant in the former US that the smell of soy and feces would overwhelm the task masters and set them free.

Heck, even if you chained these mental retards to their workstations, they would think its a protest against Big Oil and be expecting a gallery of photographers to fawn over them.

Trump is a living, breathing indictment of just how piss poor the Republican Leadership is. Reminds me of the line by Michael J. Fox in The American President;

They don't have a choice! Bob Rumson is the only one doing the talking! People want leadership, Mr. President, and in the absence of genuine leadership, they'll listen to anyone who steps up to the microphone. They want leadership. They're so thirsty for it they'll crawl through the desert toward a mirage, and when they discover there's no water, they'll drink the sand.

If you have anything electronic (and if you're posting here you clearly do) and it's less than 20 years old, it was likely made in the same slave labor China factories. Game consoles, PCs, laptops, Amazon Kindles, TVs, PC monitors, Android phones, they're all made there.

Also most pharmaceuticals. If you're on any prescriptions or take anything over the counter, they're probably made in China.

91 Apple, and to a certain degree their fan base it indeed a cult. It's been like that since the iPod and the first Mac. Not a thing worked on an Apple product unless it was developed, manufactured or blessed by Apple. Not much has changed.

I do wonder how much is devotion to the ChiComs or the amount of money the ChiComs make for Apple when looking at the company's behavior with regards to the protests.

I fully embrace "and" in the final analysis.

While that's not wrong, Jobs manufactured Macs and then his NeXT computers in California until California made it too expensive to do so. And Jobs had a policy of not antagonizing Republicans lest someone like DeSantis show up, which is part of why the tech press still calls out Apple for things everyone does.

The chemical plant I worked at for a while had a parking lot across the street. Used to be the strip of bars where the guys would go for lunch and get sloshed then come back to work. The tube mill I started at, right of school, also had a parade of folks - including my boss - trotting right out the door while I worked the usual twelve figuring out some problem or another. 146 Jobs, the talented marketer who had positioned Apple as the company fighting totalitarianism with its 1984 ad, was aggressively offshoring the company’s labor to Communist China.

Jobs was a greedy asshole living off the backs of others while he was off tripping acid. Fuck that guy and fuck Apple.

And I already find it laughable that "descendants of slaves" will likely never be able to prove they are descendants of slaves and that won't matter. Just your word will be good enough. $200k+ for them...and you're on the hook for it. Can't say I'd be too happy.

I've used pretty much every computing platform that has been developed from 70's to today.

The reason why I've stuck with Apple is because once they design a product it pretty much does not deviate appreciably over the lifespan of the product.

The essential look, feel and operation of Mac OS hasn't changed in 40 years, the essential look feel and operation of IOS hasn't changed much since the iPhone was introduced in 2006, over 16 years ago.

And the upside is that MacOs is really BSD Unix with a pretty Windows Manager.

Which is nice.

Windows has not put out a good operating system in 20 years and every iteration becomes more ridiculous and lame.

As a total business average, maybe. But that's irrelevant. At megacorps, especially Big Tech and Hollywood, the number is much greater than 3%. And distribution matters, too. It is endemic in HR departments, which ensures more activist hiring in the future. It's also common on boards of directors and, of course, common among the institutional shareholders that are increasingly activist-run. The problem is a shit-ton bigger than 3% in practice. I don't know how he arrived at "3%" but it sounds low based on my experience and even if it isn't, distribution is probably more important than volume.

274 The facts in the Oath Keepers case do not fit the crime. Forget for a moment whether you like them or not. Personally I am not a fan. But what just happened is a grotesque miscarriage of justice that will have severe reverberations for years to come.

A jury partial to Democrats just convicted people of charges for which there is no legal fact set or materiality. There is no corroboration. In fact, the corrupt judge didn't allow the defense to present any evidence that was exculpatory. That includes government actors who were involved in the so called plot. No court has ever seen fit, especially on such thin clearly political motivation, to allow these types of charges to move forward. Now you have corrupt judges and jurists ignoring very clear, consistent established law and process to convict people purely on their political views.

When faith in the justice system and our institutions is corrupted in this way, it never ends well. The case is an abomination and perhaps one of the biggest corruptions of law and constitution in our history. Where have all the people with the courage and fortitude to say so, clearly?

More to the point, perhaps, is that after Nazi Germany became a formal enemy of the US, IBM and the others quit doing business with them. When the war came, they all retooled and started producing war materials. They didn't actively collaborate with the enemy against American interest and prefer the enemy to their homeland.

There were lots of Nazi sympathizers in American industry, but they knocked it off when the battle lines were drawn. This is in stark contrast to our current crop, who double-down despite battle lines. The assistance from US corporations to the likes of the Nazis and the Soviets is a nasty black mark on their histories and there is blood on their hands, but at least they - unlike the current firms - stopped aiding the enemy and went to work for the US.

Nice. Funny, isn't it - when it comes to selling their product - it's all about capitalism. The biggest price for the cheapest cost of manufacture to maximize profit. Makes sense.

But when it comes to labor ? By God, you'd think capitalism didn't exist. Then it's "you gotta' do your time" and "work is it's own reward" bullshit. And some folks buy into it - they get a perverse pride out of "I've never taken a sick day in my life, and you shouldn't either".

Celebrity status. If Trump was just an ordinary casino hotel developer he never even runs for President.

Because of his own celebrity status he put way to much value on the fame of others.

Its why he did not fire Fauci. Guy was famous since the 80s. Just like Trump.

283 Saint of the Day
St. Bibiana, also known as Vibiana or Viviana (d. 361), was born in Rome, the daughter of Christian parents who were martyred in the persecutions of Roman Emperor Julian the Apostate. Her father was severely beaten and sent to live in exile as a slave, but died from his wounds. Her mother was beheaded shortly after. St. Bibiana and her sister, Demetria, were stripped of their possessions and imprisoned in their family home in utter poverty and hunger. They were offered reward if only they would renounce Jesus, but the sisters said they would rather die. Finding that they did not die from lack of food, the Roman governor summoned them. Demetria, after professing the faith, died at his feet. St. Bibiana was given to the guardianship of a pagan woman who tried to force her into prostitution. St. Bibiana refused. For this she was beaten, tied to a pillar, and cruelly scourged. She eventually died from her tortures, and her body was discarded to be eaten by wild dogs. The animals, however, would not touch her. Her body was recovered by a priest and buried, with a chapel built over the tomb for her veneration. St. Bibiana's feast day is December 2nd.

I love the new iPad airs and am about to get one before end-of-year (for tax purposes).

you can do pretty much anything you can on a Mac with them except a lot of what I do in Adobe Suite is still not really all there. but enough that I can use it sometimes and for certain things. these are designery things

anyway I've used Macs from LE II days lol. they gave me my career I think. when I've had to work on a PC it just ... the monitors aren't as good, nothing looks right. for what I do that matters.

I also have a PC tho and for example MANY things work better on there so it really depends on what you need. the two platforms are really different still.

292 OK, pet peeve time: I really hate the term “anti-Semitic.” “Semitic” is a linguistic term. The Arabs are also “Semites,” as they also speak a Semitic language. Heck, even those Ethiopians who speak Amharic are “Semites.” “Semitic” is meaningless as a racial/ethnic term, and therefore identifying it exclusively with Jews, as the usage of “anti-Semitic” to mean “anti-Jewish” does, is just nonsense.

Just use “anti-Jewish” instead.

Why is the FBI investigating obfuscating a local crime?

It reminds me of those stupid network crime drama shows where the FBI, or some clandestine, special operations federal government cell of superhuman agents investigate routine crimes that we discover in the last segment are all committed by white male masterminds.

I was always interested in the part where the writers had to conjure up some sorry excuse for why the locals couldn't handle the case and it had to be farmed out to the superstars.

324 Nice.

I'm like you. I'm selling a product that's measured in hours worked. I want the most for the least. And I'm not making anybody by a single minute of it, its all free will.
Posted by: Jaguar at December 02, 2022 08:49 AM (66r+l)

Companies don't market their products as maximizing their profit margins and being as cheap for them as possible while as expensive to the customer as possible. Likewise employees generally don't represent themselves that way.

"You gotta do your time" is union mentality at any rate, most fields don't work like that. If labor is mobile, rates have to be competitive or a business dies out.

Remember, this is a civil suit, not a criminal one, the plaintiffs win if the preponderance of the evidence is on their side, they don't need to prove any thing beyond a reasonable doubt. Outside of fairly rare and distinct (and easily-discoverable) driver issues, I haven't had a true Windows crash in years. They're fairly uncommon. Businesses can get hit with lots of them because they tend to run standard hardware and software packages and if one of them causes a crash, it can have far-flung consequences because they have a lot of machines all running the lousy code. The "Windows blue-screens all the time" thing hasn't been true for quite a while. Windows 7 was very good and stable, as was 8.1 and 10 and 11. From a reliability standpoint, they're fine.

From a usability standpoint, it is more of a mixed bag. Windows 11 still has not stopped pissing me off every day I have to use the stupid thing.

To me, this is an indictment of Trump, not an excuse. If he can be rolled by McConnell and GOPe, what's the point of Trump?

The real issue was his son-in-law Kushner was the defacto President, Trump was never much interested in actually governing.

368 "You gotta do your time" is union mentality at any rate, most fields don't work like that. If labor is mobile, rates have to be competitive or a business dies out.

Why do you think the Chamber of Commerce exists, at the local level ? I can assure you, in my field, it existed so that the owners at every firm could collude - to effectively fix talent prices at a mutually acceptable level. Its not as effective now - but it was amazingly well done back in the 90s through the early 2000s.

To the point that they would even embargo certain folks. Kind of like a franchise tag in the NFL. Raiding the best guys at another firm was simply not done.

"You gotta' do your time" was not a Union thing. It was a generational thing. Bitch about the Millennials all you want, I don't like 'em either. But they got that idea right. I think Gen-X was the first bunch to get the ball rolling on job hopping.

370 Nice. Funny, isn't it - when it comes to selling their product - it's all about capitalism. The biggest price for the cheapest cost of manufacture to maximize profit. Makes sense.

Profits are what the market allows you to receive. You can't sell bubble gum for $50 and expect a profit of $49.97 because no one will buy your product.

The other problem is in scale of manufacturing. There is something to be said for a semi-educated public of a billion plus people. For example, just the need for mechanical engineers at a manufacturing plant in China exceeds the entire graduating class of STEM students in the former US.

The FUSA has embarked on a multi-generational plot to guarantee that the domestic population is unable to take care of itself in any way, shape or form and must rely on foreign labor and intellect.

The sad fact is, even if Apple wanted to make their product in the FUSA, there is no way to get the labor, materials or consistent energy to produce even a small fraction of it.

Special Master dismissed. Game on Trump, get ready for your trial. Trump will be indicted in the secret document investigation in the next month or two. The prosecutors are now free to move forward. Judge Cannon can no longer delay things for Trump. This is not a complicated case. Trump defied a Grand Jury Subpoena, moved, hid evidence and he has no defense.

TFG will either appeal to a full panel of the 11th Circuit, or try to get a stay from SCOTUS pending a full appeal. The request for a stay will go to Clarence Thomas, but I doubt that even he would grant it.

They do not care about helping Trump personally The right wing on the court will help right wing causes like helping corporations and supporting Christofascism, but so far they have ruled against Trump in his personal cases (tax returns, subpoena, the election, etc)

I'm torn...part of me thinks this is lefty failure theater, but Dems and GOPe want Trump destroyed for various reasons, a DC jury could convict anyone, and just bringing charges and dragging through the courts will hurt Trump.

If there is one 'key metric' to tell you the health of the USA economy it is that one. ---------------

And it's neat to see that both sides of the uniparty have been working for the same anti-American (meaning citizens and well-being) goals for so long.

Illegals enter the country to work for low-wages and take jobs and industries from citizens - think roofing, drywall, etc. - and simultaneously ship manufacturing across borders to accomplish same task with low-wage workers elsewhere.

Both parties, same goals.

447 Electricity usage in the UK at this time of year is given by Homewood as 840 GWh, which would be 35 GWh for each hour of the day. The capacity of the solar generation facilities in the UK is given as 14 GW. That would mean, if the solar facilities produced at full capacity for the 24 hours, they would have produced some 336 GWh, or a full 40% of the UK’s usage for the day.

On 11/29, at around noon, the solar panels reached their peak of generation for the day at 1.33 GW — less than 4% of average usage. For the whole day, production from the solar panels was all of 5.46 GWh, or 0.65% of usage. The times of peak electricity demand are the early morning and evening.

At those times the UK’s solar panels produced absolutely nothing.

461 I started working at Oracle, and later LSI Logic and Siebel Systems, way back in the mid 1990's, and the Silicon Valley software engineer culture then was very pain-in the-ass libertarian. A little irritating, but I could deal. It still is very libertarian, actually. What changed tech politics was when engineers became second class citizens to the rapid growth of HR and media-facing public relations culture, which happened at the intersection of the Obama years and the huge corporate growth of tech companies post-Google. It's basically an impossible industry to work in now, even more so when the east coast banks and brokerage house tech culture followed right along with the west coast insanity.

And Milo.

I defended Milo in a comment here not too long ago. That he was Cancelled (TM) about grooming comments, but the biggest issue is that he was the victim, not the perpetrator, when discussing it.

Then there was a later article where Milo took glee in the damage he did. Intentionally.

Trump got punked.

Those who complain that the bad part of Trump's presidency was because of bad picks that constantly screwed him over once in place (see: Fauci), maybe that's true. But we also need to look at it at another angle: why do the people he has worked with and tried to help out, go out of their way to screw him over?

There's something in the water. Rather than being truly helpful to one another, especially on a day like Thanksgiving, there's only malice in their hearts to their host.

May Milo catch monkeypox from that Big Black Bumbreaker he kept fantasizing about.
