White House Pushes Leftwing Talking Points To Argue With Your Family About on Thanksgiving, To Convince Your Relatives That Biden's Economy Is an Age of Wonders Hitherto Undreamed Of

What I love about the Biden Administration is all the healing and all the getting-away-from-the-political-pressure-cooker normalcy.

He is truly a "President" (Cite?) for all of us.

The White House on Wednesday distributed leftist talking points for predictably insufferable supporters of President Joe Biden to use for attacking Republicans during Thanksgiving family gatherings.

The list of talking points was shared by White House chief of staff Ronald Klain on social media.

"One last item for your Thanksgiving dinner: some talking points when 'that Uncle' comes 'at you' about the president," he wrote on Twitter.

The "Racist Uncle" meme again. What about the boozy bitterly-childless Wine Aunt who gets extra nasty on white wine about That One Abortion Too Many? Got any talking points I can use to deflect her wine-clouded venomous spittle?

How about the colorless amorphous blob of hormonal anarchy who dropped out of college after one and a half semesters but who's pretty sure xe's got the Main Gist and who's personality type is Extraverted Intuitive Judging Antifa and wears different colored bangles to let me know which of seven "genders" xe identifies xeself today? Watcha got for Penelope Genesplice Moonpenguin today? I can't keep talking to xem about how terrible it is about Britney Griner.

After reading the TJM sidebar article about Kathleen Kennedy, I then clicked on the article about Ridley Scott's upcoming Napoleon movie. It says this about Scott:

"Scott has been hit and miss for most of his entire five-decade career, but he's one of the all-time greats. He's automatically an all-timer just for "Alien," "Blade Runner," "The Duellists," "Thelma and Louise," "Gladiator," "Black Hawk Down," and "American Gangster." Not mention his underrated works such as "Matchstick Men," "The Last Duel," "Kingdom of Heaven," and, yes, even "Prometheus." "

The problem with Thanksgiving is that you cannot give thanks without having someone TO THANK. It necessitates a provider, a deity that you honor and thank for blessings over the year. This. No love for brussel sprouts on this site, but I'll bet that's because they're being cooked wrong. Cut them in half, use liberal amounts of olive oil or butter, season as desired (I keep it basic with just salt and pepper and a little Jamaican jerk spice), and roast them on a flat pan until the edges are burned (yes, burned as in black). Alternatively, you can grill them to the same effect. Trust me, you will like them.

HotGas is contributing to this, of course - Ed Morrissey is repeating the claim he's been making since March that Russia is about to run out of missiles (I wonder if he simply Xeroxes his old articles). For proof of this, he quotes - the Ukrainian defense ministry.

Steven Green does his part too - he claimed a couple of weeks ago that the Russians after evacuating Kherson were so terrified of Ukrainian artillery that they were going to abandon the entire Dnieper River line, and flee eastwards.

That hasn't happened yet, for some reason.

366 Wikipedia: CHIPS and Science Act

The law does not have an official short title as a whole but is divided into three divisions with their own short titles: Division A is the CHIPS Act of 2022 (where CHIPS stands for "Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors"); Division B is the Research and Development, Competition, and Innovation Act; and Division C is the Supreme Court Security Funding Act of 2022.

where CHIPS stands for "Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors"

It authorizes, but does not appropriate, extended NASA funding for the International Space Station to 2030, partially funds the Artemis program returning humans to the Moon, and directs NASA to establish a Moon to Mars Program Office for a human mission to Mars beyond the Artemis program.

367 Potatoes- still need to figure out.

*******

Anyway, like I was sayin', potatoes is the fruit of the dirt. You can barbecue 'em, boil 'em, broil 'em, bake 'em, saute 'em. There's uh, potatoes-kabobs, potatoes creole, potatoes gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There's pineapple potatoes, lemon potatoes, coconut potatoes, pepper potatoes, potato soup, potato stew, potato salad, potatoes with potatoes, potato burgers, potato sandwich.

That- that's about it.

They'll also explain that being crammed into tiny apartments and being completely dependent on public transportation means that Europeans have a higher standard of living than Americans.

After all, Europeans have longer vacations - at least for the Europeans who work for the government or big companies.

The former Tonight Show presenter, 72, was at his Los Angeles mansion when one of the vehicles 'erupted into flames without warning' - with sources telling TMZ the left side of his face was burned.

In a statement Leno said: 'I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.'

'It was a steam car. This steam was made by gas. It got sprayed, as a gas,' Swift, a mechanic who works at the garage, said. In 2021, the 'Tonight Show' veteran was actually stopped in his 1906 Stanley Steamer for speeding on Interstate 405 in California.

449 Cropped from Mental Floss:

A group of Dutch biotechnologists led by Hans van Doorn pinpointed the chemical compounds behind the sprout’s characteristic bite - a couple of glucosinolates called sinigrin and progoitrin.

After trawling their stores for old seeds that were low in those potent compounds, Dutch seed suppliers embarked on a years-long mission to breed the ideal plant: one that would turn out not-too-bitter Brussels sprouts, and do so quickly enough to keep up with modern production standards. Their success helped catapult the once-maligned vegetable to culinary stardom, especially in the U.S.

498 I live in a family of left-of-center members. I never broach the subject of politics. Not that I shy from the fight, but I am always the peacemaker and calmer-downer. For four years, every conversation I had with my mother began with, "Oh, that Trump!" So this notion that conservatives are the spoilers of every family get-together is complete bullshit in my experience.

No Conservative starts a conversation with, "I think kindergarteners should not be taught about sex." Nobody states obvious, normal truths as a means of upsetting family. It's always the millennials interjecting "ACAB!" out of context or rolling their eyes at a dinnertime prayer or throwing in some dig under their breath that gets things heated.

But whatevs. Having the kids over to our house, so at least I can tell them to get the hell out if it comes to that.

Does that mean you'll be at the table? Let me know!

Not that I have to change anything, mind you. We've got six seats at the table.

The turkey is just about thawed now. I'll spatchcock it and brine it this evening. I made the turkey bone broth for the gravy last night. Today is the orange cranberry sauce that Publius' mother likes, and banana pudding.

There will be turkey and stuffing (classic, nothing weird), gravy, mashed potatoes, also jellied cranberry sauce with the ridges for my brother, our own green beans. Maybe another vegetable (but sadly it won't be brussels sprouts or cauliflower, since Publius hates them).

I've heard some outrageous prices for cauliflower lately, like $7 or $8 a head. What's up with that?
