Now That Tens of Thousands of Teenagers Have Been Put on Experimental Untested Unapproved Puberty Blockers, The New York Times Gets Around to Wondering: Is This Medically Safe?

The questions are fueling government reviews in Europe, prompting a push for more research and leading some prominent specialists to reconsider at what age to prescribe them and for how long. A small number of doctors won't recommend them at all. Dutch doctors first offered puberty blockers to transgender adolescents three decades ago, typically following up with hormone treatment to help patients transition. Since then, the practice has spread to other countries, with varying protocols, little documentation of outcomes and no government approval of the drugs for that use, including by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. But there is emerging evidence of potential harm from using blockers, according to reviews of scientific papers and interviews with more than 50 doctors and academic experts around the world. Have girls just always been boys and we just never noticed before? Sexton, quoting from Reuters:
Thousands of children who...were assigned female at birth have sought gender-affirming care in recent years. And for reasons not well-understood, they significantly outnumber those assigned male at birth who seek treatment... Professionals in the gender-care community agree that treatment of all transgender children should be supportive and affirming. The question, for some, is whether peer groups and online media may be influencing some of these patients to pursue medical transition, with potentially irreversible side effects, at a time in their lives when their identities are often in flux. Corey Basch, a professor of public health at William Paterson University in New Jersey who researches health communication and teens' use of social media, said she fears that some adolescents are susceptible to making faulty self-diagnoses without adequate input from medical professionals. "Teens are so incredibly vulnerable to information overload and being pushed in one direction," Basch said. "They could be lacking the analytical skills to question who is giving this advice and if their advice is valid." Adolescents assigned female at birth initiate transgender care 2.5 to 7.1 times more frequently than those assigned male at birth, according to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), a 4,000-member organization of medical, legal, academic and other professionals. Several clinics in the United States told Reuters that among their patients, the ratio was nearly 2-to-1, and similar phenomena have been documented in Europe, Canada and Australia.I think this is the first admission in all of the leftwing propaganda media that maybe social contagion might be the real diagnosis here. Sexton's report notes that even WPATH -- the transgender "doctor" network and professional organization funded by the evil Pritzker family -- is now acknowledging that social contagion might have something to do with supposed feelings of transgenderism, and ethical care should probe patients to determine how much of their feelings are real (or, "real") and how much is just monkey-watch-video-monkey-go-to-transgender-therapist. I want to quote this in case anyone targets me for cancellation or a fine: This is from WPATH's own guidelines:
In its new Standards of Care, published in September, WPATH acknowledged for the first time that "social influence" may impact an adolescent's gender identity. The organization recommends that youths undergo an in-depth evaluation in part so that clinicians "can discern between a person's gender identity that is marked and sustained and an identity that might be socially influenced," according to Dr Eli Coleman, director of the University of Minnesota Medical School's Institute for Sexual and Gender Health who oversaw the update of WPATH's guidelines.As I've repeatedly pointed out, the media has been very willing to notice that young people -- girls in particular -- are going down rabbit holes of consuming TikToks and YouTube videos of "disability influencers," usually by people faking a disability, things like Tourette's and especially the hot mental illness of the moment, DID or multiple personality disorder. That one really lets a histrionic/attention seeking girl really flex her Drama Club chops and do a One Girl Show of up to ten captivating characters. Girls watch these videos, see how much ATTENTION! the girls feigning these conditions are getting -- all those followers! all those likes! -- and then start feigning the conditions themselves. But while the media keeps warning about the propensity of young girls to imitate the mental disorders they see Mental Disorder Influencers showing off online, there's one mental disorder the media never discusses as possibly also a case of monkey-see-monkey-do: Transgenderism. For reasons that are entirely unexplained, a writer will bang out a piece on girls believing they have Tourette's because they saw other girls with Tourette's (supposedly) on the internet, then follow it up with a sequel about girls who believe they have DID/multiple personality disorder because they saw other girls showing off all their "alters" in videos, and then, looking for a third similar situation to complete their social contagion mental disorder trilogy... decide to not finish the trilogy, but leave it unfinished and abandoned, like the George R. R. Martins of pop psychology. Why? Gee, who can know, who could even guess. With even WPATH now admitting that there might maybe could be a component of "social influence" in just a few of these cases of claimed transgenderism, will our Brave Firefighters start actually braving the fire? Or nah? Nah, right?

I remember my epidemics prof mentioning in conjunction with Tuskegee that the treatment profile for whites vs blacks was different. White patients were given penicillin in pill form and told a schedule to follow until the course was over. Black patients were given a single massive, painful shot.
Now, let's be complete dispassionate assholes. Was the course given to Blacks evil and discriminatory? Probably, but it also WORKED. Those patients were treated. Honestly, considering how often I forget to take my vitamins or medication, I would bet those white folks should have been given the massive shot too. FAR less risk from the standpoint of actually trying to contain an epidemic.

Oh FFS. It's not like we throw darts at a board (even = male, odd = female), or draw genders on a slip of paper out of a hat. We don't "asssign" gender. We diagnosis sex. A newborn baby is examined at birth and a clinical diagnosis based on external genitalia is determined. I'm so sick of them expecting me to use their nonsensical language when it is frankly incorrect.
Ambiguous genitalia does occur, but inn a vanishingly small segment of the general population. I could probably count on both hands with fingers left over the total number of newborns I encountered in 30+ years as a Pediatrician with genuine ambiguous genitalia.

Had a discussion with the kids about a Khan elementary grammar video where "they" was used as a singular pronoun. I told all my kids if I saw them do that, they were redoing it b/c it's flat wrong, and told the college kid to get really used to using nouns over and over if they couldn't avoid it.
That led to a discussion of my childhood and the push for "ebonics" and that bad grammar to appease a select group eventually becomes so ridiculous in a decade, it goes out of style, so don't start doing it, so you don't have to start (and you never look like an idiot or wannabe)...

We raised our kids the way we were raised: zero-tolerance for the phrase "I'm bored." Our kids had to go find something to do or we'd give them something to do. They always found something.
But if you look at kids' toys these days, there are very few that are not prescribed, predetermined, pre-imagined completely. The kid is an observer, not a creative participant. When I was a kid, you bought Hotwheels and track by the yard, with a little clamp to mount the track to the stairs for you dad to trip on. You grabbed boxes and chairs and pillows to make the course undulate. If you were really lucky, you bought the loop segment or some curved turns.
Today, Hotwheels come in $75 battery-powered pre-fab kits that you drop the car into and watch it go round and round. Zero creativity. Zero variety. Zero imaginative immersion for the kid. So they go back to their iPhone. And parents wonder why kids are so dull.

I had no concept at age 9 that such a thing existed in society; which was as it should be. Be wary of strangers, of course, but no need for details.
My principal might just have been taking refuge from the rain on a Saturday afternoon and having a beer, no hookups express or implied. But as I recall he did look a little unsettled at seeing me there (he knew me, it was a small school), and my mother, whom he'd met at school functions . . . almost as if he had something to hide. I guess I'll never know.

I recommend anyone who wants to learn how to draw comics to take Kirby pages and draw them. Don't trace them, draw them in your own style, but use his layouts, poses, etc as your pencils, as it were. Draw your version of Dr Strange you way, but in that pose, in that panel, on that page. Do a few comic books that way and you'll learn more about how to draw a dynamic, exciting, and well-composed page than spending hours trying to render a triceps the way Jim Lee does.
I love Jim Lee's art, but there's more to the job than beautiful shading, texturing, and poses. Every panel has to tell the story, and each panel has to lead well into the next, and the entire page has to be an easily readable, clean layout that tells the story without detracting.

I like Lee's art but he got there by studying greats, go back to them to understand the fundamentals of the art. Liefeld is a lazy hack who still can't draw feet. He works cheap these days though, because he keeps getting work.
Manga is fine, as its own thing. But its a really bad way to learn how to draw comics, because its so exaggerated and is iconography. That is, instead of having individual unique characters, you have templates that you assign, specific types of characters that are visually designed to represent each sort of person, then you add in different colored hair or a band aid to show them as distinct.
That's fine and can be fun, but its not going to work if you want to draw anything except Manga.

It's finally gotten through their heads that a citizenry that's fat, dumb, and happy in a country with a roaring economy and prosperity all around will pretty much let them get away with anything.

I have this sister in law who was hardcore vegan. Then one day she stopped being vegan and began eating things like baby lamb with wine etc.

Now this seems like a contradiction and hypocrisy. But if you zoom out and look motives. Being vegan Made her feel special and superior. Apparently that wasnt working anymore. So now she was eating expensive meat but, get this, in a way that made her feel special and superior.
