After four years without a nose, the ENT and cervico-facial surgery teams at the Toulouse University Hospital offered him "a bespoke nasal reconstruction using biomaterial" using a 3D printer.

Nurse cuts off man's foot without permission for... taxidermy exhibit.

A Wisconsin hospice nurse has been charged with amputating the frostbitten foot of a dying man without his permission in order to preserve it for a sick display in her family's taxidermy shop.
Mary K. Brown, 38, allegedly hacked off the victim's right foot -- without his OK or a doctor's permission on May 27 -- and told a fellow nurse she intended to exhibit it with a sign saying "wear your boots, kids," according to a criminal complaint obtained by WQOW.
The victim had been admitted to the Valley Health and Rehab Center in Spring Valley in March with severe frostbite on both of his feet.
By the end of May, doctors were sure that he was close to dying, and witnesses said his foot was necrotic and only held to the rest of his leg by dead skin and tendons, according to the complaint.
A nurse who was present when Brown allegedly chopped off the man's foot on May 27 reported that the patient clenched her hand tightly and was moaning during the procedure, the complaint states.

The only thing that would make this more Current Year is if she then filmed a Tik Tok of herself sobbing heroically over the severed foot.

I think whig must have a near-Eidetic (Photographic) Memory, as seemingly many who go into law do (I think Bubba Clinton did as well, and I'm reminded of that tragic law school student in that great movie The Paper Chase) -- and some other commenters here like TJM and Joe Mannix (perhaps I should call them COBs).

Pretty amazing ... I had a great short-term memory until I got on the wrong side of 55, and now it's declining like muscle mass & bone density: about 3% per year. I need some Memory GAINZZZZ!

Thanks for the compliment. Memory loss though affects all of us including me. I forget stuff too especially on a bad health day.

Dealing with parent with dementia in memory care now and trying to navigate care, finances, etc. is a daunting task.

Evolution was inefficient for some reason and we ended-up with then-useless extra info storage capacity. But what was once too much is now too little. Our brains get full at an average age of 55.

There is no proven method for erasing useless or obsolete info from the brain. So new info randomly replaces stored info. Hence, memory loss. There were experiments to increase brain memory or to selectively erase info from memory. This work was halted after the Joe Biden experiment.

Thanks. There are tests both genetic and memory to determine future risk of Alzheimers which has a genetic component. Vascular dementia tends to occur with people with stroke/afib/vfib issues that can lead to dementia but not a specific verifiable test for it other than some experimental questioning under MRI scanning etc.

We've got a shortfall/decrease in the labor supply. That's why we have the tight labor market in conjunction with decreases in GDP. A lot of this recession is from decreases in supply, unlike the more typical demand driven recession.

Maricopa where most of them are out started with ballots received on Saturday and then Monday. They also processed the 13k ballots received on election day by in person voting that were affected by problems with tabulation. Have not processed election day ballots from my understanding and tomorrow is Veteran's Day.

Demand took a hit, and Trump wanted to shutdown International Travel, not the Country.

But, the increase in interest rates will cause investment rates to decrease, slow home building, etc. I expect unemployment to start rising this quarter and probably for the next year. Technically, exports of nat gas was about the only way the GDP went positive last quarter before revision. I think the decline in GDP due to energy will be a drag for the next year at the very least.

Several years ago I took my brain out and cleaned it to get rid of memory-degrading dust and cobwebs. I had a hard time re-installing it, though. Ended-up with few brain parts left over.

391 378 We've got a shortfall/decrease in the labor supply. That's why we have the tight labor market in conjunction with decreases in GDP. A lot of this recession is from decreases in supply, unlike the more typical demand driven recession.

But, the increase in interest rates will cause investment rates to decrease, slow home building, etc. I expect unemployment to start rising this quarter and probably for the next year. Technically, exports of nat gas was about the only way the GDP went positive last quarter before revision. I think the decline in GDP due to energy will be a drag for the next year at the very least.

We've got nearly 2 full years until the 2024 election date. Assuming things are going to stay as bad as this year leaves us in a bad spot if they don't, and it's reasonably possible they won't.

I know they make billions, but I hate that they went beyond the original. None of the others make sense. He was suicidal in the first one, and COULD have been lucky enough to fulfill his final mission. Plus the motivation and setup was perfect.

Nothing after that had any real motivation, and there's no way the same luck could hold, much less Lady John Wick be equal and equally lucky.

It's a shame they didn't let wick retire and tell the story with other characters in the universe.

I started to play the sax again when I retired over a year ago . Intended on taking some semi advanced lessons but Covid shutdowns put the kabash on that. I guess I'll just keep playing like the last seat in a High School band.

Go to the Musical Instrument museum. Lots of fun and relatively short. I would also consider going to the Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix. A bit of a hike in it but amazing to view the desert without driving out to the wild.

County general election turnout: 32%
County primary turnout: 49%

Results in my county of the 2018 midterms in California:
County general election turnout: 71%
County primary turnout: 55%

That is a 40 point swing in turnout between midterms. I was contacted zero times by the GOP. I saw a television ad for one statewide GOP candidate, controller, a few times the last couple of weeks before the election. I saw hundreds of ads on Youtube for Democrat candidates and Democrat fundraising. I saw zero from Republicans.

I know this is California but come on. Some of the Republican stuff that the GOP was doing in Nevada, Arizona, and nationally should have bled though like the Democrat stuff did.

It is like the GOP wasn't even trying to win.

Nothing much indicates improvement in the world economy. We are entering a period where all the major economies are laden with debt so the old stimulus wastage done in the past is simply not an option. In fact, resembles the world economy in about 1930 or so but with inflation. Only way to defeat it is to hike interest rates but that kills the fiscal budget of the US--no room to pump money in the economy and my guess is Biden will propose tax increases to split the GOP.
