The Morning Report — 11/10/22

leavedemtakebal.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and 24 hours later, I still don't know how to process the aftermath of what by all logic and reasoning should have been, if not the massive red tsunami that was pimped in the media, at the very least a clear victory that took back both chambers of Congress and gave us more governorships. I do not know how we fared down-ballot in state legislatures and those are proving absolutely crucial insofar as attempting to reverse course. But I am digressing and I'm not even out of the first paragraph.

Yesterday's editorial focused in on my fears of electoral shenanigans. I still stand by that assessment, but perhaps now not as the sole factor but a big factor. That's bad enough, but the big fear I have is what if my perspective as a near senior citizen raised by normal parents in a relatively sane society and culture (the madness of the 60s and 70s notwithstanding) is now completely out of phase with that of the younger generations who are now adults that were brainwashed in the propaganda mills of American academia?

Robert Spencer's analysis echoes my fears:

The establishment media was setting us all up to accept a steal, proclaiming that on Tuesday evening, there might be a “Red Mirage,” that is, the appearance of overwhelming Republican victories that would later be overturned by bogus mail-in ballots, as soon as those who fix elections knew how many they needed. As it turned out, either the shenanigans are now so baked into the system that no prolonged period of fiddling with the totals is needed, or massive numbers of Americans actually like the way things are going under the misrule of Old Joe Biden’s handlers.

Embrace the power of "and," Robert.

As Ace pointed out yesterday, abortion turned out to supposedly be a massive driver of Democrat voters, especially women. And yet, polling in the months after Dobbs consistently showed abortion as virtually a non-factor in all but the most diehard of leftists. In fact, polls have consistently shown a clear majority of Americans, over 60% IIRC, favored at least some restrictions on pre-natal infanticide. That percentage has been gradually increasing over the years, not decreasing. So, if Dobbs supposedly was a motivator for the Democrats, you would think that it would energize Republicans as much if not more. So, how are we to reconcile that? And that's just one "social" issue, in the midst of the rapid disintegration of our economy, the border and a national crime wave. It makes no sense to me.

Are we fast becoming a minority headed for extinction, naturally or otherwise? And yet, to completely ignore the fact that we no longer have an election day but an election season, whose only purpose is to give the Democrat Party enough time to produce enough phony ballots to overcome a defeat at the hands of a Republican candidate, is sticking our heads in the sand. Daniel Greenfield nails it.

We don’t have Election Day anymore. We have Election Week and Election Month.

Over 42 million early votes were cast this election. That’s not as bad as the catastrophic 2020 election of over 100 million votes where the deciding electorate seemed to be ballot harvesters, but it takes us back to 2018. And that was bad enough because it’s becoming the new normal.

In 2014, there were 21 million early votes. We’re at double that.

In presidential elections, they want to make 69% of the country voting by mail or early voting, the way it happened in 2020, into the floor. And then go up from there.

And that means we don’t have elections anymore.

What happens when you have Election Month? The dead vote and the dead get elected.

Rep. Tony DeLuca died in October at the age of 85. The longest serving representative was reelected anyway.

“We are proud to see the voters continue to show their confidence in him and his commitment to Democratic values by re-electing him posthumously,” Pennsylvania House Democrats said.

How the hell does something like that happen?

Early voting begins 4-6 weeks in Pennsylvania. That was enough time for Tony to die even as he was cruising his way to a re-election.

70% of the over 1.4 million voters requesting mail ballots came from Democrats. The majority of those flooded in from Allegheny County and Philadelphia.

When the system is so broken that a dead man can win because voters are literally voting for the walking dead, it needs change. And, speaking of the voting dead, congratulations to Senator-Elect Jon Fetterman who benefited from voters not realizing that he’s a zombie.

That’s what the new regime where half the country engages in early voting means. . .

. . . Elections are supposed to empower the people to choose the government. The Democrats have made elections into a complicated system that allows them to find votes without regard to voter turnout. The system they’ve created represents a power shift from the people to the parties in which the people who show up to vote are swamped by the garbage votes mined by activists.

Instead of the people choosing elected officials, the officials choose the voters. Election Month and ballot harvesting complete the process that began with gerrymandering. They make votes into just another commodity that can be harvested regardless of public sentiment.

Elections like these don’t turn on polls or what the public wants, but whether the resources of the leftist political machine can outweigh the voters with their voter harvesting campaigns.

Look, I am not saying that the societal dissolution that has completely fucked up the minds and souls of at least two to three generations of Americans is not a factor. Everywhere you turn, from transsexualism to the push to normalize pedophilia to the Malthusian, nihilistic desire to save the planet by wiping out millions of humans and forcing those allowed to remain alive to eat bugs and worms or tree bark (PETA vs the ELF in a steel cage match), this is the mindset of those who voted (actual real votes) for the literal ham sandwich, in the form of a goon failure of a Marxist stroke victim to be a US Senator. Worse, you have a supposed "journalist" actually claiming said Lump could be a great presidential candidate. It's only a little after 6:00AM and I need a drink.

Yet there are positive signs in the middle of this pitch black nightmare world.

Grassroots organizations, focused on parental rights in education, are celebrating key victories in school board races across the country.

Moms for Liberty, a coalition of parents working towards transparency in education, and the 1776 Project PAC, a political group that helps school board members against Critical Race Theory get elected, saw many of their endorsed candidates win seats on school boards. Their wins in states such as Florida, Maryland, Indiana and Michigan flipped several school boards, the organizations told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

“Last night was a disappointing night for Republicans in many parts of the country, but we’re happy to say we were very successful in key races in Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio, Maryland, which were by far the biggest places we targeted,” Aiden Buzzetti, head of coalitions and candidate recruitment for the 1776 Project PAC, told the DCNF. “We also officially flipped our 100th school board since our first election in November 2021.”

While one cannot escape the feeling that 60-plus years of Marxist indoctrination in the schools and the fading away of the collective memory of what America and a sane society is supposed to be is what did the trick, these parents and their children represent the future. They know that what's happening to them and to their children is absolutely wrong. Worse, evil. Like the state legislatures, the community boards and school boards are really where the action is, insofar as resisting the Deep State and more crucially preventing the brainwashing of yet another generation of American children.

And here's another indicator of, if not good news, then at least of a great realignment (I am loathe to use the word "reset" for obvious reasons).

"The populist GOP’s share of the Latino vote jumped by a third to almost 40 percent, compared to 2018, according to the exit polls. Eleven percent of the electorate are Latinos, so this 2018 to 2022 shift is a gain of 1 percent nationally. That 1 percent shift is more than enough to decide many close races."

No doubt perhaps more than just a handful of those races were decided on Tuesday because of this shift. Beyond elections, this is yet another indicator that politics as usual cannot and will not go on as they did pre-2020.

For sure, the Democrats will cement voter fraud wherever they can. Yet, their policies will continue to drive people away from Leftist fiefdoms and into places like Florida, without becoming as Mark Levin coined them "locusts," who flee what they voted for only to continue voting for that which they fled.

Sunshine State observers said after Tuesday saw Democratic leaders re-elected or voted in — coupled with Gov. Ron DeSantis’s landslide entrenchment — they expect the exodus to Florida will continue. “People are leaving these states for a lot of different reasons,” said Laura Gambino of Global Real Estate Advisors in Palm Beach. “Crime, quality of life, taxes. I think with the elections going the way they did, the trend is going to continue. . .

. . . “The crime, the mandates, the general insanity,” she said. “I think people are just looking at their lives and thinking there has to be a better place to raise their children.” Illinois native Robert Cowhey, who left the state for Florida a decade ago said his son, who lives in Chicago, was plotting his departure Wednesday morning after Gov. J.B. Pritzker re-election. “I talked to my son and my cousin today,” he said. “They want out. Crime is a major issue. They don’t like Pritzker, they don’t like Lori Lightfoot, they don’t like any of it. I think people are just going to continue to leave.”

Florida Atlantic University Prof. Ken Johnson, who specializes in migration trends, said he expects outside interest in the state to persist due its recent economic development and diversification. “From what I hear on the ground, people come to Florida because it’s prospering,” he said. “It used to be the sunshine. Now it’s the sunshine and the economy.”

I'm still confused about what all this really means. The only thing we can be sure of is that we are still in a period of transition. Say what you will about Donald Trump (and do not blame him for Tuesday's fizzle), but he opened up a lot of eyes and raised a lot of consciousness about what's really going on, and the possibilities for what could be. Whether he or Ron DeSantis carries the banner going forward remains to be seen. To be sure, before things get better, and please God if things get better, we are going to endure a lot of pain and suffering before our deliverance. That is the price that has to be paid for seeing things as they are and being forced to make a choice, not between Trump and DeSantis, but between living on our knees or dying on our feet.

Let's hope that last bit is rhetorical and not literal. Onward.

7 The highest inflation in 40 years is going to get a jolt this morning, with new government numbers coming out. New mortgages just fell to a 20 year low, announced last evening. Since 1949, no recessions have started in the third year of a presidential term. That is something new coming in 2023, since Democrats smothered news of a recession pre-midterms but now have to 'fess-up.

All these economic trends are converging, and probably adds up to a coming market drop of maybe the biggish variety. Monty, if he were here, would probably say "DOOM!", and not be far-wrong, since we are basically screwed. Gooderer and harder.

The national Strategic Brawndo Reserve may be tested.

What ticks me off is that their own voters didn't punish the couple for having kept his debilitating stroke secret for three or four months so the Party couldn't replace him, whether through a new convention or defaulting to the second-place candidate, to get someone to credibly represent the state's interest and people. And with all the talk of the Dim governor appointing the wife, it's obvious they covered it up for personal, family gain and not out of hope he'd be recovered to Joe Biden stroke levels and not out-talked by Washoe the ASL ape.

36 Morning, 'rons and 'ronettes.

This was touched on yesterday, but I'm going to say it again - the American voter is, by a yuge stretch, an idiot.

Why do I say that? Simple: according to polls (yes, I know), over 70% of people think the country is on the wrong track. They have had two solid years of Democrat treason, economic ruin and societal perversion. If you believe the polls, they hate what Stinkfinger's junta has done. And yet they still voted for the ones destroying their lives.

Within living memory of every voter were low gas prices, economic boom, record employment, peace at home and (mostly) abroad. It's not as if Trump's term happened decades ago - it was within living memory and the voters STILL refused to return to that!

Accidently willowed:

I'm reading a short article about the Conservative Manifesto of 1937, authored by Sen. Josiah Bailey (D-NC). Written in response to the recession going on that year, it was a remarkably influential document which united Southern Democrats and Northern Republicans in stopping the New Deal dead.

https://tinyurl.com/ybdf45eu

Gingrich's Contract With America also catalyzed the 1994 election that brought the Republicans back into full Congressional control for the first time in 40 years.

Today? The Republican Party stands for nothing at all, likely by design. That's why it always comes up short.

Pre-2008. Prior to 2008, voters could be moved. After 2008, the rigid polarization started to set in. That polarization is, in my opinion, the biggest single factor. Add in a dose of COVID realignment and that polarization is even deeper now.

Many, many people have done what I did: moved. The polarization is resulting sweeping, life-changing decisions. I got the hell out of CO and moved because CO was becoming unlivably expensive and distressingly filthy and violent (the Front Range, anyway, and as goes the Front Range, so goes the state). I moved out. With my departure, CO got a bit bluer and my new state got a bit redder.

The polarization and migration are making swing states fewer. Add in the fraud, and the polarization is metastasizing. It's also a huge component of identity, especially for some people. Better to have inflation and crime than pull the lever for a Republican.

My takeaway? People are idiots. Despite our crowing about the diminishing influence of the MFM, the hard, brutal truth is that they do control dialogue and will continue to do so. On taxes, crime, inflation and, yes, abortion, the MFM set the narrative and the vast majority of voters ran with it.

And no, I am not going to blame Trump. I will admit Teh Donald is a polarizing figure, but if you can look at your wallet today, remember how much fuller it was two years ago and still vote Democrat because Trump is too disgusting for your middle-class, bougie boho taste, then frankly, you deserve every bit of poverty, hunger and misery coming your way.

The problem is not Trump, nor even, to an extent, the GOP. The problem is an imbecilic, illiterate American voter (there should never have been universal franchise) and a MFM allowed to operate as a fully-funded machine of sedition. Combine the two, mix in fraud and a GOP complicit in it, and your republic cannot survive.

Communists that use every available tool they can, legal or otherwise, with violence and deceit and lies and totalitarianism and never, ever, ever stop in their quest to rule over every last American being. And who do we have? Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy. Two of the biggest losers imaginable doing and saying absolutely nothing in the wake of our complete destruction. There's nothing more I can do but pray. America is toast. Decayed, immoral, perverted, crumbling, ugly husk of what we once were.

77 "In the aftermath of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade earlier this year, the decision to codify abortion went back to the states."

California, Vermont Approve Limitless Abortion Measures

As did Michigan, if I understand the Proposal correctly. The "mental health" language is so vague that it can probably be used to justify abortion-on-demand at any time during pregnancy, nullifying the "fetal viability" language.

Proposal 3 provides for a state constitutional right to reproductive freedom. The term reproductive freedom is defined in the proposal as "the right to make and effectuate decisions about all matters relating to pregnancy, including but not limited to prenatal care, childbirth, postpartum care, contraception, sterilization, abortion care, miscarriage management, and infertility care."

The ballot initiative provides that the state can regulate abortion after fetal viability, except that the state could not ban the use of abortion to "protect the life or physical or mental health of the pregnant individual," as determined by an attending health care professional.

The state and local GOPs are, by and large, in one of three categories:
1. Absent entirely (unopposed races, etc.)
2. On Team Blue
3. Running their own corrupt local machinery for their own benefit

Of those, only the third is potentially useful but that potential is small. They will look out for their own interests, which will largely keep them from making the most terrible of possible decisions - but that ain't a recipe for ascendance.

The GOP is, by and large, malignant. Most of the non-malignant parts are useless. Some of it is decent, but that minority of parts are being dragged along kicking and screaming by enraged people (school board races come to mind) or cowed by powerful leaders like DeSantis.

What happened in WI? Honestly, from anecdotal evidence, the abortion thing is much bigger than anyone wants to admit, and polls were dishonest due to women, especially, unwilling to fess up to how important it is to them. The propaganda from ads and MSM here wasn't as much about abortion as it was about birth control and 'women's health', it was relentless, and women bought it hook, line, and sinker.
Also, a large proportion of women here absolutely DESPISE Donald Trump. Hate his fucking guts. Hate his fucking face, his fucking hair, his fucking smirk, his fucking 'Russian' supermodel-whore trophy wife. Don't discount that part of it.
Visceral hatred of Trump and anyone and anything adjacent to him, by women, is a very real factor.

They really, genuinely believe it's Big Business ripping them off, there are no shortages only 'hoarding', it's all artificial and fake, the Corporations are just colluding to rip off The Little Guy.
My take is WI results are largely due to women voting single-issue on 'birth control', as that's how it was posed, and economic ignorance of a sort that has to be experienced to be believed.

Posted by: Lady in Black at November 10, 2022 08:12 AM

This has been my mindset since November 2020. And has been solidified every day since then, when absolutely nothing was done about the rigged and stolen election except for people protesting it being thrown in prison and censored and smeared and called domestic terrorists.

Anyone doing post-election analysis about anything other than figuring out how fix the completely corrupt and broken voting system in this country is a fool. Polling, issues, candidates do not matter anymore. So anyone talking about that I will be ignoring from now on. The only issue that matters is getting the voting process back to good again. If no one wants to even bother doing that, then it truly is game over.

There are major problems to a digital currency in this country, one of which is merely political and the other two are existential (for now, and probably for at least the next five years).

The political problem is the minority population. Minorities, and especially blacks, are much more cash-dependent. The industry calls them "underbanked." A lot of them don't play in the banking system at all. It will be a political problem to take a key deep state bloc like blacks and tell them you're taking their cash away. It isn't unsolvable, but it's meaningful.

The existential problem is the global scope of the USD. Those dollars out in the world markets have to repatriate eventually. That's how the currency system works. If the currency goes digital, repatriation is harder - especially if you don't want to be seen. Moving to a digital-only currency will destroy the dollar as the basis for foreign trade. That will likely happen on its own, but this would force the issue.

Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at November 10, 2022 08:24 AM (DU+/6)

133 2/2) The other existential problem is the amount of cloak-and-dagger chicanery that our government engages in. A lot of politicians and other power-players move a lot of money around as they steal it and use it to subvert American interests. A digital-only currency scheme makes that fraught with peril. Anyone who needs privacy - and it ain't just drug dealers - gets screwed with a digitial currency.

Not to mention the big-scale stuff. Can't send military transport planes stuffed with cash to America's enemies if the cash is illegal. And you can't pretend to have two systems where USD cash works abroad but domestic transactions use USD digital, because - as Gresham taught us - bad money chases out good.

The power and control and the destruction of privacy that our rulers crave is offset, at least to some degree, by their own criminality and schemes.

141 As did Michigan, if I understand the Proposal correctly. The "mental health" language is so vague that it can probably be used to justify abortion-on-demand at any time during pregnancy, nullifying the "fetal viability" language.
------------------
That's what happened here. When it was legalized by Pierre Trudeau [1970?] a 3-member panel in each hospital [stand-alone clinics not legalized] would decide if an abortion was medically necessary and in big cities' downtowns, the hospital panels would just rubberstamp every request for "mental-health reasons".

178 "The problem is this: communism doesn't stop spreading. The pinkos don't just want Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York. They want Indiana, Florida, Tennessee, and every red state in the nation. Commies are never satiated."

Yep. The Left has the exact opposite attitude of conservatives. Conservatives give up on their areas when leftists make things tough and flee their cities and states to go seek refuge in "red" cities and states. The Left plays the long game. They have mastered it over the last 50-100 years of their long march through the institutions and continue to perfect it for every institution in the nation.

While conservatives quit and just say 'let it burn', the Left says thank you very much, we will burn everything to the ground here in this city/state you fled and then we'll come after you where you flee when we're done here.

Conservatives can delude themselves into thinking they can just keep fleeing and seeking refuge somewhere else as the Left keeps taking over cities and states. Soon there will be no where left to go. Can't expect GOP politicians to choose a hill to die on if conservatives refuse to do that themselves in their own cities and states.

179 I needed to step away for a day to reset my mind. Besides, it was hungover like the rest of me.

Ace conjectured that the abortion issue shifted a lot of women's votes as one of the causes of The Ripple. I too have a conjecture --

Daily Caller November 02, 2022 5:21 PM ET. White suburban women have shifted significantly from Democrat to Republican right before the midterm elections, according to a new poll by The Wall Street Journal. White suburban women swung by 27% toward the Republican party since July, now reflecting a 15-point lead over Democrats, according to a November WSJ poll.

This dwarfs even the Latino shift to Rs. And exit polls don't show anywhere near this big of a gain. So.

What if the pollsters gaslit us since July, to reduce our enthusiasm and boost Dem turnout? As regular poll watchers here, we know most polls underweigh R voters until election day nears. And we also know huge shifts in a demographic group JUST DON'T HAPPEN overnight.

And the reality is the same. We had gains, but not 27% gains. The pollsters reverse psychologized us.

1) The Democrats will pass a continuing resolution on the budget with the help of the Republicans ("It's the best deal we could get! We can't stop them!!!)
That will lock in Democrat funding and inflationary spending over the next year or two.
That was the purpose of meeting Senile Joe already.

2) There will be a new "Gang of..."(5? 6? 7? 38?}that will "break the deadlock and provide a third way!!!"
That will scuttle any MAGA initiatives that even stand the slightest chance of passing. BONUS! It will make sure the Reps get their graft while passing the Dims want list.

3) Weak-ass hearings that go nowhere or to Blue-Ribbon Panels for resolution 5 years later.

234 I like Trump, but he need to take responsibility for his missteps as well as his victories. I think a little bit of modesty is the essence of a good leader. Because if you admit your mistakes, and are honest, you learn from them and adapt. That said, he screwed the pooch in Pennsylvania. He went in heavy for Oz and Mastraino, the latter whom nobody but Trump thought would win. I get that he owed Mastraino a debt, but he shouldn't have used peoples freedom to pay for it. Face it, McCormick was a better candidate than Oz, but Trump hates anyone remotely connected to Bush and he pushed McCormick as an "establishment" candidate.

Overall Trump cites "all the people he endorsed" and what a big winner "he" was. Really? Like that was the coup de grace that put all those candidates over the line- not all the people working for them and the candidates themselves? Where does that play into his braggadocio?

Think many people know how their Reps and Senators vote? The vast majority don't. I know many that suffer that disconnect.

I do think it's fair to say this is a major difference between Trump and the old Bushie Republican party, but it's one that reflects well on Trump. It's woefully naive to think you can struggle for power by being aggressive about accepting blame and not trying to take credit where possible.

246 This election has been a God send of data. So many questions are now answered.

The Dems didn't win by cheating, they out-hustled us.

There were able to out-hustle because GOP state parties got lazy and didn't do their jobs.

This is why you see R+6 results in some precincts and R+1 in others. Targeted districts and states were organized to get Dem leaning voters (those Gen Z ones) to vote. With VPM, that is easier now, you don't have to get them onto a bus.

This is why Florida crushed the Dems, the Dem party here is in shambles. But in PA and MI, the Dems got their voters to vote, while the GOP sat on the sidelines and did nothing.

Either learn this lesson, and get the VBM system to work for you, because it is not going away, or keep losing, even when you have the majority of the electorate on your side.

BTW, this is the 3rd election now that the Dems have done this. I'm sure that Joe Xiden is laughing his ass off that he managed to get you to chase the red herring of Dominion for 2 years.

its 120 miles I can jump in my truck and be there in about 1 hour 40 minutes.

So drive to train stations 15 minutes.
Wait to buy and board train 30 minutes (generous)
Travel time at 56 mph (Amtrac ave) 2 hours 15 minutes
Depart Station to ride share 20 minutes

So a less than 2 hour trip takes over 3 and a half hours.

Replacing Trump does mean dissolving the political coalition (not necessarily the base though that takes work to keep) Trump has built over the last few years. DeSantis will have to go through the same process of trying to gain allies, which takes time.

Posted by: Inogame, non alius regit at November 10, 2022 07:54 AM

Not just Trump, but they want all his voters gone as well. The effort to get rid of Trump is not about getting rid of just the man, but also everything he stands for. They want to get back to the GOPe policies of the past 20 years. Illegal alien amnesty, open borders, social liberalism and lies about doing anything about the budget or the deficit or fiscal responsibility.

The GOPe and the Left have made this absolutely clear over the past 2 years. There is no place in the new Divided States of America for anyone who supports the Trump platform. Those people either have to get on board the GOPe bandwagon or get in the boxcars to reeducation (or worse) camps.

So if the right wants to dump Trump, they better have a good strategy in place of how to explain they are only dumping the man, but not everything he stands for. That is going to be a tough sell and not many are going to believe it after decades of GOP lies before Trump came along to actually get things done.

Furthermore VBM and the aforementioned ballot harvesting means that the American political class is now divorced from success or failure of policy being a metric because quite frankly the retards who cannot actually be bothered to understand the cause and effect of government interference with economics causing economic pain are now happily and zealously the majority of people impacting policy.

In hindsight, I suspect this was what Karl Rove did for George W. Bush during his two elections. There was a massive increase in voting from the 1990s to the 2000s. And I suspect the cheating mechanisms went into place for both parties and Rove and Bush just happened to do it better in 2000, 2002 and 2004.

This is just pure cynical speculation on my part. Despite Kerry-Edwards being a horrible ticket for Democrats in 2004, I think they had a good shot to win based on anger over OEF and OIF and just typical left-wing hatred of Republicans. And wanting to correct what they thought was a stolen 2000 election. But I think Rove's cheating operation outdid the Democrat cheating operation in 2004.

More pure cynical speculation is that the GOPe brought back that cheating operation in 2020, only this time to help Democrats get rid of Trump.

There are still about 600K votes to count in Maricopa. 300Kish are election day votes (heavy GOP skew) and 290K are mail-in votes dropped off on election day (those will be a monster skew toward GOP).

They may not even count this tranche today, and are going to drop mail-in ballots that arrived on Monday today.

Lake has the lions share of the 600K outstanding votes. She will win handily once they report. Masters should win as well, but he needs to take a 60/40 split of the remaining votes. Yup, no doubt. Vote-by-mail is a sick joke and destroys the system. Any place that does not have it needs to guard against it with full attention. Any place that does have it, though, will keep having it - it's too useful - unless it becomes non-useful.

So in those places, I agree that the Republicans should (they won't, but they should) engage fully and aggressively and play games with it, too. Cheat as much as possible. Steal the fucker back. Get rid of VBM once that's done (hahaha - even if it worked, they'd *never* repeal such a useful tool...), but game it hard until you can get there.

I still haven't been able to get my hands on overall data, but I suspect it is that people who aren't normally Republican voters, call them Trump Republicans, didn't turnout in large numbers because the election isn't perceived as a Trump election. This is why you see R+6 results in some precincts and R+1 in others. Targeted districts and states were organized to get Dem leaning voters (those Gen Z ones) to vote. With VPM, that is easier now, you don't have to get them onto a bus. ...
Posted by: Dave in Fla at November 10, 2022 08:44 AM (5p7BC)

In many jurisdictions, that "hustling" (which yes, they do very well) is illegal. VBM doesn't mean ballot-harvesting and vote muling is legal. It is in some places like CA, but many places don't legally permit it. VBM makes harvesting inevitable because it's so easy, but it isn't legal and is a form of cheating. The "hustling" that is so effective is criminal in most of the places it's done.

It doesn't change the thrust of your point - which is that we ought to do it, too - but it also doesn't mean there isn't cheating and fraud. That kind of cheating and fraud is a fundamental part of VBM schemes.

The GOP electorate hates politics, looks for a savior, treats their fucking vote like it is a measure of their own moral salvation, the Davey Fwench types pretend they are voting for saints not assholes in charge.

And I agree with that. When cheating is the norm, playing by the rules ensures that you never win. In VBM jurisdictions, Republicans should be playing the same games as skillfully as they can manage. Harvest ballots and mule them to drop-boxes. Send door-knockers to go "help" people fill out those ballots. Play hard and play to win. The opponent is. Play by *his* rules, not *the* rules.

It's visceral and utterly irrational. These people don't have any intelligently formed opinions about Trump, only primal reaction, and they will not change.

I'm not saying it isn't part of it. Yes ballot harvesting is happening, but VBM is not illegal and has been expanded for the last 3 cycles, especially in 2020.

It is now a legal mechanism that the Democrats are exploiting effectively, while the GOP sits on their hands and does nothing. It is a high tech GOTV effort, while the GOP isn't even using a low tech GOTV.

So the polls end up showing a red wave is coming. But the GOP doesn't do their job, and you end up with this. Even though the voters were predisposed to vote Republican.

And the data backs this up, because you can look at precinct results and see where Democrats over performed the rest of the country, and it is in precincts where they needed to over perform to hold a seat.

The same thing happened in 2018, and everyone missed it.

I don't disagree. VBM itself is not illegal (it should be, but that is beside the point) and it makes extremely targeted GOTV activities far easier to implement, and the Dems do a better of job it.

But the adjunct pieces of VBM - the ballot harvesting and all that "assistance" that door-knocking goons can provide with filling that ballot out - aren't legal in most of the places where VBM is used. That is also a key component to the entire VBM scheme, and it's built in to the system.

On both the legal GOTV front and the illegal harvesting front, the Dems play to win.

441 Speaking of clueless, Breitbart has a great article up on Joy Behar talking about Dems' real problem...messaging lol.

“I think that the Democrats should learn from this because, with the heinous condition of the Republican Party at the time moment, we should have had a blue tsunami. It should have been a blue tsunami. And I think it’s the messenger. There is no good messaging going on the Democratic side. Remember when you had James Carville saying, ‘it’s the economy, stupid.’ Well, you need somebody like that. ‘It’s the democracy, stupid. It’s abortion rights, stupid. It’s voting rights, stupid. And sell it. Go out there and sell it!”

If she thinks the left didn't flood the zone with "muh democracy" and "muh abortion" messaging sufficiently, I shudder to imagine what she thinks would look appropriate.

College educated voters (who the Rs have lost ground with) turn out more reliably than working class voters. Historically the way to get the working class to turnout was using unions, which are themselves like a political machine.

443 So any discussion of Trump vs. DeSantis in terms of these elections must be couched around the simple fact that we cannot trust the vote in large portions of the country.

Where can we trust the vote? Florida.

In Florida, both Trump and DeSantis have crushed in the past two elections.

What does this mean? I...don't freaking know. But it is interesting.

445 But the adjunct pieces of VBM - the ballot harvesting and all that "assistance" that door-knocking goons can provide with filling that ballot out - aren't legal in most of the places where VBM is used. That is also a key component to the entire VBM scheme, and it's built in to the system.

On both the legal GOTV front and the illegal harvesting front, the Dems play to win.

This is one of the problems -- and why I called for the Death Penalty for any who participate in voter and election fraud: since when do Leftists care what is legal, and how often are the held to account and punished for said illegality?

That's why they're engaging in illegal ballot harvesting nationwide (and the couple of times some are caught and prosecuted, it's merely a slap on the wrist -- and thus no disincentive against it continuing).

The IB is the certification awarded to university track students in European high schools. Most universities are free or cost effective for those that received these certifications, but only a few students are selected for the IB track. That's the point that gets left out when people tout the European free university stuff. In seventh grade, you go through a battery of tests to determine whether you are attending a college track or a vocation track for the rest of your schooling, and it's very, very difficult to switch upward after that as been determined. (Easy to go to vocational, though.)
Pushing the IB in US schools includes a few courses that would satisfy acceptance into European schools - not free, though. Out of country students get to pay full price.

The fact that you're hearing the (R)enfield Party blame that is twofold. One is to distract from the actual reasons, of course. The other is that you are about to see my prediction from last year play out...

Now that the election has passed, Team (R)enfield is going to get busy as bees on "legislative solutions" in various arenas to the little setback Team (D)racula had regarding abortion last year, and it's going to be *ugly*.

(R)enfield used abortion as a cheap virtual signal and fat cash-cow for 50 years because they were secure in the knowledge they could never change it... now they're the dog who caught the car, and it's going to be up to them to fix the tire.

They're just using this election as an excuse to soften you up for that.

They don't, because it won't happen. This isn't knowledge, it's speculation. Now that the election is over, gas prices are going to down and they are going to go down for two major reasons.

Now that it is clear to the world that the United States is not at risk of become a fascist country next election because of the the failure of Republican ambitions in their so-called "wave election" year, the nations that snubbed us earlier this year will be more enthusiastic about cooperating with a stabilized and still powerful United States. Global energy production will increase in the near term while the world continues its transition away from carbon-based energy.

The other is the wind-down of the conflict in Ukraine. Ukraine's recently-disclosed desire to engage in negotiation is a positive development brought about by the winning team in Washington and the conflict will likely end by early winter on terms agreeable to the West. Russian energy flow will resume, further stabilizing energy prices and supply.

498 A few takeaways -
A debate after voting has started isn’t a debate at all.

It is clear that the D side can win without real campaigns (See Arizona Gov and J Biden)

Abortion is NOT an issue (it is a 50/50 split) unless you are SILENT on your stance. I’m for state’s rights isn’t an abortion position.

The GOP is not a grassroots organization and doesn’t work between cycles. Leftists are busy making presentations in boardrooms telling executives how they will be PUNISHED if they support the other side.

The leftists market a brand. They know some people love to be part of a lifestyle. Think Starbucks vs Dunkin. If your elite - you’re a D. If you’re a working class lug or alt-whatever, yuck you’re an R. Don’t be an R. Vote D. That message is everywhere. What was the R message? We aren’t them? That feeds their message.

Yet my middle one voted R because of gas prices, so there is hope once reality hits. My oldest is married now to a plumber and is suddenly gung-ho union. She may be lost. My mother actually said she was so happy Fetterman won, even though she isn’t from PA. I mean, what? But she gets her news from the View. She is a well to do white woman who gets enraged when I point out her hypocrisy. Her lifestyle is courtesy of my conservative stepfather. She is very detached from reality. I don’t know we will reach these types because you can’t make people see when they don’t want to do so. They seem to vote in large numbers, and they vote stupidly.

502 What I get out of this, is that many Democrat voters are fine with voting for a debilitated low-functioning retard (Fetterman, Biden) who is an obvious facade for a hidden committee behind them. They know they're voting for an untouchable, unreachable secret government, and they don't care.

503 Better if you make voting Sat/Sun/Tues with no absentee other than that - teachers will seethe b/c they use that week to go on vacay b/c schools close Mon/Tues...and then there's usually veteran's day or teacher work days...

I was looking at my kids school calendar and I think they have like two actual full weeks of school between mid October and the New Year. No no, can't have teacher workshop days during summer break.

505 If the Cooper case interests you, I recommend Geoffrey Gray's Skyjack: The Hunt for D.B. Cooper. There are a lot of weirdos connected to the case, both suspects and investigators.

It's a good but very frustrating book to read - no narrative flow. Keeps jumping around: hijacking - suspect - hijacking - another suspect - yet another suspect - hijacking - retired fbi agent, and so on...

506 The fight between now and 2024 should be at the state level, and the main event is election reform laws with the first priority being the elimination or at least curtailment of Early Voting. NC has a two-week Early Voting schedule, and that makes a difference compared to states with one or two months devoted to ballot harvesting. Second priortiy is voter ID in states which don't require identification (like NC) at the polling place.

507 North Carolina voters had a bellyful with the Dem-controlled NC Supreme Court. Republicans swept all six statewide judicial contests and retook control of the NC Supreme Court and several appellate seats.

This is good news. I went to HS in Raleigh. Nearly half of the students attending were recent arrivals from NY and MA. In 1969 the exodus of Yankees to the South began. Hopefully, our Andy Griffith goodness has rubbed off on the invaders.

508 he / his

I remember Griner as a female basketball player in high school in the Houston area. As far as I know all of the other girls on the team thought she was female. Doubt she was trans back then as the surgery was very expensive and her high school was not in a ritzy area. While the WNBA is a good living it doesn't have big endorsement deals or millionaire salaries, so I don't see the financial inducement.

There's more good news. NC Republicans increased their number of seats held in the General Assembly and the state Senate to the point where they are just short of having veto-proof majorities.

511 There are a lot of "Trump failed in this election" articles out there. There's no "McConnell failed" because he got what he wanted for America.

I like DeSantis but he hasn't said a lot of things that Trump has to show he's ready to take on our enemies on a national scale. If he makes an enemy of McConnell I'm in.

512 The Moms for Liberty can get fucked. They screwed over our local schoolboard (which had something crazy like 12+ nominees). So, two of the people responsible for the covid crap were re-elected when they should have been thrown off. And MFL pushed forward a fake evangelical I dubbed Preacher Man, who won, and a from-the-ether housewife with no accomplishments & no track record (fortunately she lost). I get where they're going with things and trying to flip school boards, which is commendable. But they need to better vet their candidates so the people they put up know what the hell they're doing.

Now, how many normal people do you know? Which group has more people in it? Now you know the chances that the left actually gets more votes. It is about voter fraud, and it always has been.

518 Look at DeSantis' record, not who he is meeting with. The GOP is fractured, and it is simply smart politics for DeSantis to try to unify it for 2024. That doesn't mean he is "owned" by the McConnells and Ryans of the party.

Posted by: Anti-Faucist at November 10, 2022 10:27 AM (ik/65)

519 Things are going to get worse. You can't fix the broken minds of people over 30. Their brains have solidified, and neural pathways have been laid down to come to the same conclusions.

You can't fix an intentionally corrupted system by using that same system. "Weird, the rules to this game are clearly designed to allow my opponents to cheat, yet I'm never able to follow those rules to win the game. I don't understand it!"

Combine those things, and you should expect that Brandon I, Emperor for Life will handily "win" in 2024 and the squeeze will begin in earnest. Look to our founders for the solution. Assuming there are enough Americans left who possess that "vigorous and manly spirit."

Spoiler - it's not men who take a federal gibzmedat to put food on the table.

17th amendment. Instead of the governor nominating candidates and the state legislature voting from that pool (original system under the Constitution), now they are elected by the entire state.

The population centers typically outnumber the rural areas, so Missouri gets McCaskill because of St. Louis and Kansas City.

But since so many people have fled those areas in recent years, we get more #conservative sens like Hawley and Schmitt.

Truly.

You don't know how much we needed to read this and to know we aren't being abandoned by those few free speech spaces for political expediency to a party of corporatist, grifters and liars.

Thank you for not taking the GOPe/RNC bait and blaming President Trump for losses when facts simply don't bear that out. A guy who puts his heart, energy, sweat, blood and all he has on the line to save the nation he loves, that man deserves no one's scorn.

526 DeSantis has to face some serious fire and come through it without compromising before I'd pick him over Trump. In the same way I know gravity exists, I know Trump will fight until they bury him. Though I don't dislike DeSantis, I don't know the same thing about him.

Everybody - even Trump - deserves some blame for what happened.
