  • This bird has flown.

  • Elon Musk has taken charge at Twitter. (CNBC)

Out immediately are hapless CEO Parag Agrawal, who made drugged-out hippie Jack Dorsey look like Steve Jobs by comparison; CFO Ned Segal, whose only talent appears to be losing billions of dollars; and vapidly vicious Chief Inquisitor Vijaya Gadde, whose appearance against Tim Pool on the Joe Rogan podcast showed that she is incapable of anything beyond repeating leftist talking points.

Not just fired, but escorted out of the building by security. (The Verge)

The entire Twitburo is in the process of being defenestrated.

Except. . . these people had power -- the power to silence presidents, to sway elections across the globe. Compared to that, it must kill them to lose that power and influence, and the "friends" it got them.

24 The part I don't understand: Twitter itself sued Musk to *ensure he completed the deal*? This would be like suing the prosecutor in your trial to be sure he got you convicted of Murder One. Is it that the board of directors sued Musk, but the people he just fired were not part of that?

Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, dreaming of Elsewhere at October 28, 2022 04:40 AM (c6xtn)

25 >>The part I don't understand: Twitter itself sued Musk to *ensure he completed the deal*?

Think it had something to do with Elon demanding to know stats on # of bots vs. true accounts with the real possibility he would pull out if they had inflated traffic/value, thus inflated stock price, because of the high # of bots??

IIRC, Twitter refused to give him that info, so he was going to walk away after showing it had a fraction of its current stock value. I think?

Posted by: Lizzy at October 28, 2022 04:46 AM (I/doM)

26 One would assume that, in the weeks preceding this deal, evidence of any twitter exec wrong doing would be wiped away.
But I am technically unqualified to speculate.
I had not signed in to twitter for years, because I considered it to be a techno sewer.
I am glad Elon pulled it off.

Posted by: gourmand du jour at October 28, 2022 04:49 AM (/6wX0)

27 Because the twits knew that at $50 billion Musk was overpaying. I think musk knew he was overpaying, but the point of his exercise was to bring light to how fake and gay twitter was. Twitter called his bluff and sued.

28 MeTV: I love the cars on these old (1977) Barnaby Jones episodes. All Fords: an early '60s Lincoln Continental convertible, Barnaby's own big 2-door Mercury, a 2-door Granada from the period where Ford was aping the Mercedes styling, etc. Very few foreign cars unless someone is shown as being very rich and drives an MB sedan.

Even better, today's ep has the young Morgan Fairchild in a featured role.

50 What a coincidence! All three UN agencies, within a couple days, two weeks before a major US election where the leftists are down?

All three of the key UN agencies have produced damning reports in the last two days. The UN environment agency’s report found there was “no credible pathway to 1.5C in place” and that “woefully inadequate” progress on cutting carbon emissions means the only way to limit the worst impacts of the climate crisis is a “rapid transformation of societies”.

I think the realization that FB interfered in the 2020 election and throttled the Hunter Biden laptop story is what caused their stock to crater. People on the right said, "Fvck this" and dropped out.

The only chance FB has is surviving is another Musk type coming in and cleaning house of the left wing censures. I do notice FB is taking a much lower profile this election.

There is no probably about it, it's the reason that it was virulently attacked. Big Pharma would have never an EUA if there was already an available prophylactic drug, so ivermectin was killed along with a lot of people.

Tesla Engineers Visit Twitter Office to Review Code for Musk

Elon Musk asked engineers from Tesla Inc., the electric-car maker he runs, to meet with product leaders at Twitter Inc., moving swiftly to make a mark on the company he’s about to take private, according to people familiar with the matter.

Earlier Thursday in Twitter’s San Francisco headquarters, product leaders showed Tesla engineers the company’s code, so they could assess and explain to Musk what the company needs, according to one of the people.

Twitter’s engineers can no longer make changes to code as of noon in San Francisco, the people said. That’s part of an effort to ensure that nothing about the product changes ahead of the deal closing, said the people, who declined to be named because the process isn’t public. Twitter enacted a similar freeze when the deal was first announced in April.

Probably still some sabotage hidden in the code.

The thing is- this is how all democrats think. They mouth the platitudes of representative government but believe in the spoils system of most of the world, where you gain power and then viscously use it against your enemies. It is a fundamental difference in how these things are approached that has fundamental differences. The idea is that even though you are elected as a democrat or a republican, you still represent ALL of your constituents, not see the other side as enemies. This is what we could not make the Iraqis understand and we have lost that sense ourselves as the Dems have gained power. We no longer see our countrymen as fellow travelers, but as mortal enemies. Now, there is something to that because that is how they are acting, but it is toxic and antithetical to American democracy.

And having the President come out with the Blood Reichstag speech is vivid proof that this idea has taken more and more hold in the upper echelons. Even without that, look at Mitch for example. Does he represent his people, or his own group?

98 Hey Pixy,

Site experience is still garbage on iOS / iPhones. The front page will continuously crash and reload whether I'm using Safari, Brave (really Safari), or Chrome (really Safari).

To my great shame, I like to lay in bed and read the site on my iPhone... or if I'm out and about and decide to catch up I will bring up the site, so that is my usual use pattern.

My modified process for reading the site is to grab a post link from the left-hand column and hold it down to "open in new tab." By opening a post link I can get a page that does not crash. Then, I can use left-hand column to open other posts and read those.

But it would be nice to be able to read the Homepage on my iPhone.

Sometimes we don't let people get to know us completely because we are afraid they will discover something about us they don't like . But God already knows everything about us, even to the numbers of the hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30) and still He accepts and loves us. 147 The junta seems to be ignoring the diesel fuel shortage, and, heating oil prices. There's still a lot of folks, particularly in the rural NE that use it. Another "unexpected" coming. Most states with harsh winters prohibit utility shutoffs in the winter. Those using heating oil make the decision to utilize electric space heaters to supplement the heating oil. This puts more strain on the power grid, and customers facing huge electric bills in the spring (a lot of portable electric heaters really use a lot of juice).

If you're a person of religious faith but haven't been to the synagogue or church for a long time ,go there before the election and pray. No, the roof is not going to collapse if you go to worship services Go to Mass on Election Day and you don't have to be RC to sit in the church. Those using heating oil make the decision to utilize electric space heaters to supplement the heating oil. This puts more strain on the power grid, and customers facing huge electric bills in the spring (a lot of portable electric heaters really use a lot of juice).

I figure each space heater I use, run continuously, adds $30 /month to electric bill. The thing I don't like about them is the 'wind chill factor' of those with a fan - even though it's hot air it causes the air in the room to move around. I recently purchased an oil filled space heater that looks like a modernized version of an old radiator. Much more comfort for same btu's and electric cost. Also, zero noise except for a slight 'click' once in a while when it cycles on and off.
