Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt Signs Bill Blocking Hospitals From Receiving Funds If They Perform Gender Transitions on MinorsThe GOP can behave as a functional, responsive party -- if we make it. There are many "Republicans" who are still "uncomfortable" fighting back against the Culture War the Democrats have fought and won -- almost unopposed -- over the past 20 years. They feel it's "icky" and "judgmental" and "Not Quite Our Class, Dear." They feel this is something the Uneducated Deplorables do -- not something that the Educated Better Sort of Republicans do. The status they crave is conferred only by liberals and liberal-dominated institutions and so they conform themselves and their politics into a shape acceptable to the status-conferring liberal hegemony. David French embodies this line of class-based, status-seeking line of "thinking." And what's worse, they're not even content to remain non-combatants in the culture war -- no, they actively side with the left, and beat up people on the right for attempting to defend themselves. They frag their "own side" to prove their true loyalty, which is to the left. These are not Republicans; these are Democrats who like low taxes and want to keep minorities out of their suburbs. They must be purged from holding any positions in the party. They are still allowed to vote for us, which they will do, about one third of the time. Because they're Democrats with slight Republican leanings. We can no longer allow them a place in any position of political leadership or influence -- including in magazines of ideological persuasion. We are not fighting to reduce corporate tax rates. That is not the sum of our aspirations. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

... Oklahoma Children's hospital in a statement said it was no longer prescribing hormone therapies or performing gender-affirming surgical procedures on patients younger than 18. ++++ Tyranny wins again. The last place anyone should want the government involved is in personal healthcare decisions. The government is not your doctor, and should not be binding your doctor to make recommendations - or fail to make recommendations - that your doctor knows to be in the best interests of your health. This is chilling to an extreme degree, and marks an escalation. Thanks to the poor decision on Roe v Wade, your doctor cannot prescribe an abortion even if it is essential to your physical or mental health. Transgender children are now second-class citizens in Oklahoma, and will be denied the affirming healthcare they need. What will they outlaw next? Contraception? Cancer treatment? Maybe we should fight this first on the "for the children" grounds but i would rather go the whole way and write laws making genital mutilation illegal.
It's not just cruel to children, though it is especially that. It's cruel to everyone. You have family history of cancer in a body part and want it removed, that could well be a smart plan. But no surgeon should be allowed to reconstruct a foreign grotesquerie of some sort in its place. Posted by: TexasDan at October 06, 2022 01:36 PM (QNSKC) 90

I'm so sick of the phrase "gender-affirming care". We need to push back and regain control of the vocabulary on this and call it what it is "child gender mutilation".
Posted by: Mr. Bo Jangles at October 06, 2022 01:27 PM (IBt/r) ------------------- It is quite sickening, especially since it's a lie. Back in the old days (10 years ago) it was call "sex change operations". But as the Left constantly has to mutilitate language as well as people (I see a pattern there) that term was too precise so they had to mutilate the term gender and now we are in a losing battle so far to prevent kids getting their dicks lopped off or breasts chopped off. Like most cities, there is a dominant Reddit in Portland, which has more than a quarter of a million people subscribed.
The moderators of the Portland Reddit are pro-Antifa, hate the cops, and ban anyone who says that Portland's Soros DA is less than competent in performing his duties. Naturally, with the election coming up, only favorable comments are allowed for hard-left candidates, and unfavorable comments for everyone else. (They are in hysterics that a Republican might actually get elected governor.) Over the last few years, the main Portland Reddit has banned thousands of people, so a small, but rapidly growing alternative Portland Reddit has formed, that allows actual political conversation, both left-wing and right-wing. Well, today the Reddit administration swooped in, banned almost everyone moderating the alternative Reddit, obviously as a precursor to banning the alternative Reddit itself. You see, the Reddit administrators are also pro-Antifa and hate the cops, and with an election coming up in Oregon that might actually elect some Republicans, it's time to enforce ideological conformity. When I moved to Oklahoma six years ago I still had my Iowa CC permit, which Oklahoma recognized. It expired two years later. Four years ago Stitt signed a bill making medical marijuana legal (and shocking most Oklahomans who never expected that from a Republican). This has made a huge difference in the level of opiod addiction. On August 25 Stitt signed into law a measure that prohibits abortion for any reason other than to save the life of the mother. This should be a no-brainer, which even the Establishment GOP could grasp, as a political issue let alone a proper and necessary policy. But, as you write, naaah, gotta keep the Left (Far Left, in this case) happy enough to allow a controlled opposition party to make guest appearances.
The GOPe basically is a bunch of Mondale voters who also believe in: 1. Open borders; 2. Offshoring all manufacturing; and 3. Endless wars.
We need to take that responsibility back. Or at least be ready to punish them when they stray too far away from the base.
Posted by: Darrell Harris at October 06, 2022 01:37 PM (9miN6) I have a problem with this sort of victim-blaming. Candidates run for office on a slate of promises. This is something I've commented on for a long time. back in the early days of NRO's "the Corner", I noted that the NRO writers always went out of their way to compliment their counterparts at outfits like the Nation when citing to something the Nation writer wrote. And they'd say things like "my friend so and so at the Nation is an intelligent, honest guy, but his take on 'x' is wrong b/c". Or "so and so is a reasonable guy . . ."
Meanwhile, the leftist writers would essentially call the writers at The National Review fascist, racist, stupid, etc. and never return the favor. Even back then, the "conservative" writers were pathetic in their attempts to cuddle up to leftist writers and try and gain approval from the leftist writers. A. It is left to the States (as for abortion legality and limits, but this will put a number of NCAA and NAIA sports into chaos (I say, SFW)); B. ???? The question now is: When will SCOTUS agree to take-on a case on either topic? Posted by: Gref at October 06, 2022 02:10 PM (AMIL/) 333

The GOP will not change. That is a pipe dream. Most people here want the red wave, and I don't, and here's why: Let's assume that best case scenario (red wave in November, then GOP retention of both houses, plus President Trump or DeSantis or whoever in '24). In the next term, we get a few bones thrown to the donor class, no advancement of anything approaching a right-wing agenda, and no rollback whatsoever of the Dem agenda. Then we get 4 more years of pure madness and increasing totalitarianism while both parties stand shoulder to shoulder, once again, sidelining President Whoever. Now, consider mine... this won't happen, but let's pretend for a moment it did. A critical mass of GOP voters wake up to the shell game and stay the fuck home - GOP loses in November, and again in '24. That would finish the ridiculous Republican Party as a viable political force. They'd go the way of the Whigs, never to rise again. The Dems lose their first and strongest line of defense forever, and the path is cleared for an actual opposition movement with energy and vision to take to the streets. I would also argue that there is no voting our way out of this. That time is past. It's movement time, not elections time. We can all argue about Candidate Bunghole (X) vs Candidate Douchenozzle (Y) again after the regime falls. But as long as people can pretend to have a republic, they will, no matter how ridiculous it becomes, because it is comfortable.

Literally every single day we are seeing evidence that the Republican party not only can change but is changing at the most basic level. The number of Latinos moving from the Democrats to the Republicans is a seismic event not a trickle. Large number of black voters as well. FWIW, no one gets the benefit of the doubt any longer on this sort of thing. There's an outright push by state and federal governments for a completely non-existent "white supremacist" threat to be made real. If someone working in or for the government is operating a camera and it appears that they're whitening skin of criminals who killed people, you have to assume it's being done on purpose.

Federal agents investigating Hunter Biden believe they have gathered enough evidence to charge the first son with tax crimes as well as a false statement related to a gun purchase, according to a new report.
The final decision on whether to charge the 52-year-old will be made by Delaware US attorney David Weiss, who was appointed to his current post by former President Donald Trump. The Washington Post, citing people familiar with the investigation, reported that agents had determined months ago that they had assembled a viable criminal case against Hunter Biden. The newspaper reported that the investigation, which started by focusing on Hunter’s overseas business dealings, has shifted to whether he reported all his income from overseas transactions — as well as whether he lied about his history of substance abuse on a firearm purchase form in 2018. Hunter Biden himself announced in December of 2020 that his “tax affairs” were being investigated by federal authorities in Delaware, and said he was “confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately.” Posted by: SMOD at October 06, 2022 03:03 PM (RHGPo) 600
