Posted by: Pixy Misa at September 29, 2022 *** Big black Stirling, a monster even now at 6.5 months, seems happy to be with me. The little Siberian, Dagny, is over at Miss Linda's. We have to keep them separated until his snip "takes" and he can no longer knock her up (though she is way too young for that). And the apt. management is still coming over at odd times to work on replacing my wet carpet, so it's best if neither cat is here during the day. Thanks for your comments. All leaders (as all people do)have strong and weak points. As far as Trump and DeSantis , they seem to love "their" people and the areas they have been elected to serve. So many people called Trump a total narcissist. I don't think he was although all politicians are narcissistic. I think, unlike most politicians, he had a desire to serve rather than be served and I think DeSantis is the same. mornin yall. It looks like the worst of the storm will go East of here. A county crew came by yesterday and waved a backhoe at the creek where it passes under the road, but removed no obstructions further upstream. I told them they needed to go further to clean out the debris, but they said they had to move on because they were getting ready for the storm. What they did though will not help drainage, they just wasted two hours loading and unloading the backhoe.
Last year the county imposed a $6 a month "Stormwater Management Fee" on everyone's water bill. In the 20 years we have been in this house, the only time that creek has been cleared is by me. Guten tag, fellow gray boxers. I have to wonder about Coolio's vax status. It's just kind of where my mind goes these days. Of course, if it was related at all to the Frankenjab, we'll never know.

-- Mr. Black just told me he heard it's going out a bit to sea, and is expected to pick up steam again, then slamming into Charleston. We're in the path for Friday. Possibly 2" of rain and strong winds. Posted by: Lady in Black at September 29, 2022 07:30 AM (sVtYq) 129

The town will be really buzzing starting today. The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta starts tomorrow, it's the 50th anniversary. What will they do when propane is banned, can you run a balloon on a big battery powered blow drier? A lithium battery fire at 1000 ft would be less than optimal I would think.

The restaurant business in my area is in dire straits. Before Covid, IMO, there were too many chains concentrated in commercial districts competing for business and help. Add in the single owner places and it was the perfect arrangement for a collapse when government shut everything down for Covid. Now with inflation and lack of help so many places have closed including chains.

Mrs fd has a craft show this weekend. She's been prepping for two months. It was supposed to be outside but now they are moving in inside to a smaller venue because of the storm.
She's worried that it will be disaster, and no one will show up. I told her that if she doesn't do the show, she will never know. Plus, she needs to sell some of this stuff that's all over the house. I hope it's not a wasted Saturday. Posted by: fd at September 29, 2022 07:36 AM (sn5EN) 141

Researchers detail Chaos, a new cross-platform malware that infected a wide range of Linux and Windows devices, including routers, FreeBSD boxes, and servers
"The potency of the Chaos malware stems from a few factors," Black Lotus Labs researchers wrote in a Wednesday morning blog post. "First, it is designed to work across several architectures, including: ARM, Intel (i386), MIPS and PowerPC—in addition to both Windows and Linux operating systems. Second, unlike largescale ransomware distribution botnets like Emotet that leverage spam to spread and grow, Chaos propagates through known CVEs and brute forced as well as stolen SSH keys."
