David Strom at Hot Air echoes a lot of what I've been saying.
It may seem radical, but Youngkin's policies will return care for the moral and physical development of students to their primary caregivers, not to some 25 year-old rainbow-colored-hair social justice warrior. The current push to promote teachers and school bureaucrats as child development experts with superior knowledge and judgment to parents strikes me as totally bizarre. First of all, it is really creepy to have non-caregiving adults speaking secretly to kids about their sexual identity and sexual practices, as is now common in the schools. There is word for that, but no social media site will allow it to be used without censorship. But sexualizing children is predatory behavior, especially since the people involved are promoting a particular identity or lifestyle. Secondly, sad to say but many school teachers are barely equipped to do their primary job of educating kids in their subject matter. A quick look at student performance in the public schools will tell you that the public schools are doing a piss poor job of just teaching the basics. There are many good teachers, but as a class they are not especially impressive.I was struck by the case in California of two mere teachers beginning the secret gay-trans club and transitioning kids themselves. As an angry parent railed at a school board meeting -- after their "transitioned" child attempted suicide -- what psychological or psychiatric training did these two know-nothings possess? None at all. They were mere teachers. What they knew of psychology would be the one- or two- credit "Intro to Child Psychology" type stuff that is part of a teaching degree. Completely superficial, basic-bitch stuff. And yet these two incompetent narcissists believed that this -- and their leftwing political fanaticism -- equipped them to decide which of their kids were gay and which were trans and when and how to properly transition them to their proper sexualities and genders.
Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, transition. It also seems to me that the teaching field has been inundated by mentally ill individuals who are evangelists for mental illness, and want to mainstream their own mental illness by infecting as many healthy children as possible with it. And yeah, if you've got blue hair and fake genitals and you insist your pronouns are not pronouns but made-up non-words, you are mentally ill, and should be getting help from non-mentally-ill people, not training children in how to emulate your mental illnesses.
The idea that teachers who can't teach will suddenly become intimates with students and guide their moral development is ridiculous and dangerous. The belief that schools that can barely maintain order could become nurturing environments for mentally disturbed children is utterly ridiculous. It is indeed true that many children who have gender identity issues are at risk from severe mental health problems. That is an especially compelling reason to keep strangers who are ill equipped to deal with such weighty matters completely out of the issue. With kids who are suicidal it is probably best to keep the blue-haired body-pierced freak as far away from the child instead of encouraging that person to mentor them.

We have various people running for school board in the communities around her. Most of the signs say nothing about the candidates, but one guy has a sign that says his name, that he's running for school board and "Respect parents". I thought that was a smart slogan.

But before they were "counted" Trump was ahead and afterwards he was behind which seems pretty strong evidence...

My daughter did two semesters student teaching middle-schoolers math..... it was impossible as the teachers are not allowed to confiscate cell phones, the kids know it, and they spend their time in class on Tik-Tok rather than learning math. She refused to teach at public schools. She took a $25k/yr. job teaching math across the country at a private school where she can actually teach middle schoolers and reluctant high schoolers that math is fun not scary!

I wish more Christian faiths would do what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does (sometimes known as the Mormons). Near every high school where there is a significant population of members of the Church, the church builds a small 1-2, maybe 5 classroom building. And during the school day, the high school students get "release time" for an hour. Which release time is spent as just another class for an hour in the next door church building. All completely voluntary, of course. But an hour a day of religious education / scripture study along with the other nonsense in high school can be very, very helpful.
In places where there aren't' many Church members they do the same classes, only before school in a member's home or something.
I've always been surprised this isn't a Christian wide practice. Why don't the local Baptists do this in Baton Rouge, for instance?

Whenever I get a little homesick for my old life in California, I think about what's happening in the public schools, and I'm glad we're no longer going to a public school. I know private doesn't completely shield us from this, but the interviews and research about the private school tells me this is not their priority.

We kept having to fend off advice/recommendations that our son was on the autism spectrum, ADHD. He had health issues that had delayed development and all they wanted to do was put him in a category and have him drugged.

Some edu-pap piece I read posted somewhere was some dick chopping groomer telling kids as young as 10 that if they are uncomfortable with their bodies it means they are more than likely trannies and that they are special, etc. etc. My gut tells me that many of these kids are pushed into claiming this by their fucked up parents and schools telling them they get special attention. Some edu-pap piece I read posted somewhere was some dick chopping groomer telling kids as young as 10 that if they are uncomfortable with their bodies it means they are more than likely trannies and that they are special, etc. etc. My gut tells me that many of these kids are pushed into claiming this by their fucked up parents and schools telling them they get special attention. What kid at that age IS comfortable with their body? I wasn't. Hell I'm still not, but telling some prepubescent child that means they are trans or ghey etc. is child abuse.

I work in the Child protective services industry and it is 100 percent true that all of the children who are experiencing gender dysphasia come from abusive and disfunctional homes. They get a LOT of power in the system and can control their workers and parents by claiming they are trans.

What lever? The Russians have been unable to even clear or secure Donetsk, which they partially (via locals) already had prior to the operation. Their initial strategy was a failure (though not insane), they were very incompetent in even accomplishing the gains they did in the east (some which were given up without a fight because they just don't have the resources to defend them), as a result the combat power of their first-line BTGs has been greatly reduced.
The mobilization is aimed at directly and indirectly trying to recover some of that lost combat power.
A very modest instrument (the Ukrainian military) with NATO recon/intel/command advice has given the (very small, in transition - no, not that kind, and in any case flexible-defense oriented) Russian military more than it can handle. There's not the slightest prospect of Russia taking on NATO.
Without even talking about the basic fact that such a thing has nothing to do with their objectives.
The mobilization is aimed at directly and indirectly trying to recover some of that lost combat power.

Countries with good social cohesion and a sense of purpose can use conscription and have it be somewhat effective. (American Civil War, WW2) Countries without that cohesion see their armies disintegrate in the field because of it. (Russia, 1917; Iraqi Army in the Gulf Wars.)

The First 30-90 days was a lot of old Warsaw Pact and obsolete NATO Crap in the warehouses, then it was Western European first line spares and ammo. Now it is our new production ammo and weapons taken from active duty units. Example? The Carl Gustav Recoilless Rifles and Ammo from active duty US ARMY SF Units.
We go to war with Russia? We are out of ammo in weeks. Won't matter though. The war will be ended three days after we nuke each other and kill half the Northern Hemisphere.

I also got locked out of my local city Reddit for saying that Covid could be caught and even spread by vaccinated people, and that people retained substantial immunity after recovering from a Covid infection.

These teachers and school boards have what MEDICAL qualifications exactly? Oh, and parents choose their child's doctor not the communist state!!! I can't wait for the first Billion $ "you sterilized and mutilated me" lawsuit to bankrupt a school district and I hope they pursue the teacher too.

You know, at some point in the past (say, 30-40 years ago) the school nurse couldn't give your kid an aspirin without a permission slip from Mom. It was almost stupid in its way, with no grey areas.
Now, it has totally reversed. A parent can't give their child proper medications without the approval and involvement of the school nurse.
I think that has reversed in other areas, as well. And that's not a good thing.
