The Morning Report — 9/20/22

joexijusttip.jpg

Good morning kids. Tuesday and the reaction and meltdown of the left to Ron DeSantis' essentially "giving the people what they want" — good and hard — continues. One of the commenters yesterday said, and I paraphrase, is that it's meaningless to just call the left out on their hypocrisy. You have to make them live by their own words to show them for the hypocrites and fools they are. And that is exactly what DeSantis, as well as Greg Abbott, have done in sending illegal aliens to the very heart of where leftists shriek the loudest in favor of open borders and sanctuary cities and states.

Of course, the emperor of this evil empire will not abide by being mocked for wearing no clothes and so here comes the first salvo aimed back at DeSantis. In Texas, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar is opening an investigation, the end game of which is to nail DeSantis on some sort of human trafficking charge. It is to laugh, but considering the fate of Trump, J-6 political prisoners and others, these people will stop at nothing. Given illegal immigration and all the ills that more and more people know they bring, it looms even larger as the midterms approach. Andrea Widburg over at American Thinker has an interesting take on an anecdotal piece of evidence from an individual who I find generally detestable. Still, it's something to think about, vis a vis the Democrats losing their core constituents.

In any case, as regarding this Salazar stooge, DeSantis is having none of it:

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced the investigation during a press conference, saying that he was “bother[ed]” by the flights “and so we are absolutely opening up an investigation into this.”

However, Salazar admitted that he could not name any laws that were broken and he did not name any suspects.

A spokesperson for DeSantis responded to Salazar’s remarks by saying in a statement: “Immigrants have been more than willing to leave Bexar County after being abandoned, homeless, and ‘left to fend for themselves.'”

“Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected,” the spokesperson continued. “Unless the MA national guard has abandoned these individuals, they have been provided accommodations, sustenance, clothing and more options to succeed following their unfair enticement into the United States, unlike the 53 immigrants who died in a truck found abandoned in Bexar County this June.”

The optics on what's happening in Martha's Vineyard are horrendous for the Democrat-Left, no matter how you slice it. They've been in predicaments before, but for the first time, we actually have a leader who not only won't back down, he was the one that put their tit in a gigantic wringer in the first place. Equally as telling as the shrieking from the Democrats is the near radio silence from the GOPe. DeSantis is now in the vanguard of a new wave of politicians who hopefully can wrest control of the party and oust the CoC-whore stooges of the establishment. I understand Martha's Vineyard is lovely this time of year.

Meanwhile, in another part of the forest, the talking vegetable posing as POTUS opened up his xylem, or is it phloem, and despite the cocktail of dementia inhibitors and mood stabilizers let out with one of biggest gaffes yet of his illegitimate tenure. One that could lead to war.

If there were any halfway decent human being who cares about this country in Biden’s cabinet, the 25th Amendment would already be in play.

Biden’s stupid Taiwan comments have been an issue for a while, but he just made them much worse. These are some of the remarks he’s made in the past.

[So-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden on Monday said the U.S. would be willing to defend Taiwan militarily if China were to try and take it by force.

“Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?” Biden was asked at a press conference in Tokyo alongside the Japanese prime minister.

“Yes,” Biden responded. “That’s the commitment we made. That’s the commitment we made.

“Look, here’s the situation. We agree with the one-China policy… but the idea that to be taken by force, just taken by force, is just not appropriate,” Biden continued. “It will dislocate the entire region and be another action similar to what happened in Ukraine.”

This came after Biden initially announced, without any treaty, mind you, that Taiwan has equal status with NATO countries. . .

. . . He’s making commitments that everyone knows he won’t keep while then offering China a loophole for an invasion that is less than “unprecedented.”

Invoking the 25th Amendment is not much of a panacea, but at least Kamala Harris' word salads are at best completely unintelligible, puerile gibberish, so I guess that's something.

Scott Pelley of 60 Minutes is just another standard-issue establishment media sycophant for the Left, but on Sunday night’s show, he did dare to ask the putative president what everyone in the world has been wondering: how can a man think he is a capable president when he has been twice filmed shaking hands with thin air, and when has said that the entire nation can be summed up in one unpronounceable nonce word, among innumerable other incidents of tortured syntax, incomprehensible speech, rash statements his horrified aides had to walk back, and more? Biden’s answer, if anything, just increased, rather than allayed, concerns about his cognitive abilities. . .

. . . True to his sycophantic nature, Pelley grinned obligingly and continued, speaking very slowly and deliberately, as if to someone whose comprehension couldn’t be assumed: “Which leads to my next question. You are more aware of this than anyone. Some people ask whether you are fit for the job. And when you hear that, I wonder what you think.”

Biden answered with a dare: “Watch me.” Well, yes, Joe, that’s what we’ve been doing, and that’s why we’re so appalled and concerned. The supposed president pressed on in his inimitable semi-coherent fashion: “And it ma—, honest to God, that’s all I think. Watch me. If you think I don’t have the energy level or the mental acuity, then — then, you know, that’s one thing. It’s another thing, you just watch and — and, you know, keep my schedule. Do what I’m doing.” So we should take a massive number of vacations to Delaware? . . .

. . . Yes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That’s the problem, Joe. A quick check-in with the latest installment of “Biden’s Senior Moment of the Week” gives us Old Joe referring to “the Defense Department, that has the ability to calculate an Energy Department to a million billion calculations per second,” and “Imagine being a mom or a dad, looking through your child, you know the needs of inciden [sic] very to live to live.” Uh, yeah, just imagine. . .

. . . Biden did say: “This is a really difficult time. We’re at an inflection point in the history of this country. We’re gonna make decisions, and we’re making decisions now, that are gonna determine what we’re gonna look like the next ten years from now.” That is true. And one of those pivotal decisions that is coming in 2022 and 2024 is how much Americans are still willing to tolerate the misrule of this dementia patient and his far-Left, globalist, socialist, America-Last henchmen.

All very true, as the estimable Robert Spencer notes. But a line I emphasized scares the shit out of me. On the face of it, Biden could be referring to his alleged legislative agenda. Given the weaponization of more and more of the federal government as an instrument of political repression against the enemies of this junta, that line causes the hair on the back of my neck to stand up.

I still think that everyone involved in drafting, or enforcing, laws or regulations should be required to have their investments in a managed account over which they have only general direction.

This is a critical and dire situation and it's unfolding across America. It has been ever since "President" Plastic Face frauded his way into office. I know most people know illegal immigration is bad right now. I don't think most know just how bad it is and just how many millions have already crossed the border since that meatball slimed his way into the WH. You'd think a tight, concise message should be coming from the Republicans right about now. It would resonate loudly. But all I hear are crickets with very few exceptions.

Incidentally, each and every red town, city and state that are being blindsided by Biden's secret Flight of the Illegals should intercept them upon arrival, and bus them off elsewhere. 69 100% DeSantis supporter here and encourage more of the same.

I do remember when Trump had to essentially force Pelosi and Schumer to shut down the government - and take on ALL of the political and real risks that accompanied it - to get what amounts to a rounding error on the federal budget to build the Wall and get immigration under control. Fighting his own party.

Sending two planeloads of illegals to the liberal hivemind is wonderful, but nationally it will be INFINETELY harder. Well, maybe not. Trump is the point man that took the rounds so the rest of the squad could succeed. Do NOT forget that.

America should NOT HAVE A 'ruling class' AT ALL.

The problem isn't that the ruling class is corrupt. It ALWAYS will be. The problem is that the people have allowed to even develop a 'ruling class'.
Our republic requires us to govern ourselves. If we can't do that - and Progressivism, the religion dominating America right now, is directly contrary to the concept - then we can't do anything but put ourselves under some other ruler.

That is a *very* well-constructed statement. Whoever wrote it should be given a bonus. In two sentences, they managed to make several key points:
1. We are not a sanctuary state and do not support lawbreakers
2. Other places are sanctuaries and do support lawbreakers
3. If these aliens are in poor conditions, it is because of the failure of the sanctuaries to meet their own goals and ambitions
4. The policy of internal deportation is safe and effective, whereas the policy of open borders is deadly.

144 It'll end with either Bexar County officers or Texas State troopers attempting to serve some kind of papers on DeSantis. They won't try to arrest him. And then, we'll see if DeSantis has the balls to simply say "No". Because "No" is the appropriate answer. Do not play along.

It certainly is true. It has been a theme of mine for some time. We are in the midst of an inflection point right now. The old world - the postwar world in which we all grew up - is over. That version of the United States is over, too. We're in the transitional period between the end of the Fourth American Republic and whatever is going to replace it. It might be a Fifth Republic or it might be something else, but it will be different.

I don't think that's it. Living in a high population density area means you must willingly accept a certain level of collectivism in order for things to function. People choose that collectivism. Its a conscious decision.

Now, is that stupid ? Its certainly not my cup of tea. But that population density doesn't change them, from what I've seen. It reveals their priorities. And it keeps them surrounded by like minded collectivists.

Probably rather a lot, depending on the type of student loan. A lot of loan classes don't go to the institution, they go to the student. The student proves enrollment and the institution provides a cost breakdown and then the amount agreed to between the bank and the borrower is transferred right to the borrower's account. He pays the college for tuition and whatnot out of it. The rest is just cash in the bank for rent - or restaurants - or whatever.

When I was in college (mid aughts), there were a fair number of students living large but not thanks to big cash infusions from their parents. They did it through borrowing more than they needed for student loans, or through credit cards. The number of fraudulent credit cards was mind-blowing.

Ultimately, they want to turn him into Trump, another person so "polarizing" and "immoral" that no decent suburbanite can vote for him.

243 Big cities do not have to be blue. They are blue because they are extensions of the Federal Government.

You will never get individualism and limited government thinking from people who either rent apartments stacked several stories high, or can shake hands with their neighbors through their own kitchen windows, all while being literally helpless whenever power goes out because they simply can't store the generators and blankets and food and tools needed to survive prolonged outages of basic services.

They've made a conscious choice to cede their sovereignty to those modern systems, in return for daily convenience. And look, we all should be able to pick how we live, what our personal priorities are. But lets not ignore the consequences of those choices. Those choices matter. They reveal who we are, as individuals.

Those gadgets went from the norm to the backup option in case the online system was down to non-existent. Most modern credit cards can't even be used with those machines because they're printed instead of embossed.

A friend of mine got one of those printed cards from his bank and went in to complain about it because they're incompatible with manual readers and if he was in a place that needed to use one, he'd be unable to pay. They responded that they don't even accept manual tickets anymore and so it doesn't matter anyway.

A boy from a mountain family in the Ozarks had to make the annual run to town for supplies because his dad was laid up with an injury. The dad handed the boy a list and told him, "I know you can't read, but just give this list to the shopkeeper and he'll give you everything you need. Drop the list off when you get to town and pick it up tomorrow. Ask someone for directions to the hotel and give him this second note and he'll take care of you. They're real fancy down in town, so they might make you sign a guest book. Don't worry none about that. You just sign with an 'X.'"

The boy did as he was told and at the hotel he was asked to sign the guest book. He drew an 'X' and then hesitated for a moment and drew another 'X' next to it. The innkeeper said, "I've seen you hillbillies sign with an 'X' before, but never two of 'em. Why'd you do that?" The security code put an end to that, as you said. What I meant by fraudulent cards is that the cards were real, but fraudulently obtained. I had a credit card with like a $750 limit. That seemed reasonable. I had no money and intermittent employment. I knew several people who had ridiculous limits and I asked one of them how they got limits that high. She told me, "they don't check anything. I just said I have a great a job and earn $90k per year."

I had one card with what I considered a high limit - $9.5k - and I didn't lie to get it. It was from Washington Mutual, and they just handed it out. $10k at only 7.5% interest to a college kid with no money. I was baffled by it. It was an indicator to me that something was wrong at WaMu. 279 I can relate to the credit card situation. I was our little town's liquor store a couple months ago and the woman working that day said she couldn't sell anything because the card reader was down. So I flashed cash and she said that'd work, but hardly anyone used it anymore so she just assumed I had none.

280 What I'm saying is the whole construct and interaction would be different if there were no outside influence. The FedGov adulterates the growth, interaction, and character of a city.

And what I'm saying is it would not. Because to live in a major urban city is to willingly give up an even bigger portion of your individual sovereignty in return for what they view as the perks of urban life.

Look, none of us is totally sovereign. I have trash pick-up. I have power and water. I go to the grocery, and I use public roads. But I also have the means to decline the use of any of those things for a matter of weeks. Urban living requires one to willingly forgo those possibilities. And thus, an extra level of dependence is born.

You keep talking about "the character of a city". No American city has existed for more generations than you or our parents or their parents can refute whose character was anything other than Big Government. Even when its Northeast Republicanism, its Big Government all the way down. And why ? Because of the mindset that will always, 100% of the time, come from an urban lifestyle. There is no avoiding it.

They were really aggressive and predatory when I was in college. Various banks would set up tables int he quad to try to sign people up for cards and entice them in with free shit like water bottles and backpacks. I got three credit cards (not from the people with booths on campus) to build my credit up. I used them in a three-month cycle and rarely allowed my balance to exceed my money available that month. I used them as charge cards most of the time.

"I can pay for it" != "I can afford it" and a lot of college kids don't know that and end up way too deep. Both of my colleges even tried to prevent that, and included modules on "buying stuff you can't afford on credit cards is really stupid and here's why" but many don't listen.

350 For some reason radio propaganda today keeps mention a study on the number ants in the world, 40 quadrillion I think, which is like 2 or 3 tons of ant for every person. These reports never happen without a reason. Are we suppose to start harvesting eating them? Are they causing global warming? Health threat that may lead to a pandemic? Since all news is now propaganda there must be some way this will support the narrative.

Eating ants as a food staple will knock the environment out of balance and create more of what we want less.

He and the Junta don't want to bothered with anything other than their plans to destroy the bases for the current US economy and making the US a one-party nation. They are banking on the problem eventually getting better without them doing a thing and the short attention span of the Media.

Truth. Hard facts. In our current 'reality' (much like the TFG years), a thing sorely missing. The fucksticks in charge are incapable of speaking the truth.

The border is secure.
Inflation can be beaten by spending moar moar moar.

And so forth. Truth has been in short supply pretty much since our founding, and the future promises more shortages.

I agree, it did. There was a very similar moment in 1910, at the funeral of Edward VIII. They didn't realize it, but it ended up being a sendoff to all of the great Monarchies, and the world they had lived in for hundreds of years.

In terms of world history, they were all at the very peak of the roller coaster, and none of them realized it.

Sen. David Farnsworth, a Republican from Mesa, filed a report with the Arizona Department of Public Safety this week accusing Sen. Kate Brophy McGee, R-Phoenix, of threatening him if he didn’t stop investigating the outrageous claim. The news was first reported by Yellow Sheet Report, a high-priced insider newsletter aimed at lobbyists and government officials.

Farnsworth acknowledged his beliefs were outlandish, but he said it’s not a conspiracy theory. He told Yellow Sheet that he didn’t believe DCS officials were actively selling children into sexual slavery, but that they are being lax at protecting children from predators who will do so.
