The Morning Report — 8/30/22

lindsheads.jpg

Good morning kids. So evidently, gunfire, mass protests and the American embassy in Baghdad being evacuated fall-of-Saigon-style is just run of the mill Iraqi politics. Perfect timing in that it comes almost exactly one year after the debacle in Afghanistan. In any case, no one seems to be making a big fuss over it in the real media and certainly not in the State-controlled house organ propaganda mills, but sure as the Sunni rises in the east, eventually the Shiite will hit the fan, so we'll keep an eye on it.

Meanwhile, speaking of the run of the mill, there are a few items that are typical of who and what we are dealing with but are no less infuriating for them being common. First up, while many on both sides of the divide have labeled Texas Governor Greg Abbott's shipping of illegal alien invaders to places like New York and D.C. as merely a stunt, the latter's heads exploding from being caught between the reality of the invasion and their years of declaring themselves "sanctuary" jurisdictions is quite delicious as well as a political win for our side. So, in that regard, I'll take the "W" whatever Abbott's actual intentions may be.

Yet by far, the strongest condemnation came from Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants' mouthpieces like mop-op Jew-hating "bad veal" eater Karine Jean-Pierre who only last month declared Abbott's actions "shameful." Is that so?

The federal government is paying to bus illegal migrants from one border town to New York City, a Texas official told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

The city government of El Paso, Texas, is busing illegal migrants to the Big Apple on the dime of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Deputy City Manager Mario D’Agostino told the DCNF Monday. The federal agency covers the travel costs of illegal migrants through a grant program.

“The travel costs for migrants are covered through FEMA’s emergency food and shelter grant. The City/OEM submits for reimbursement on a quarterly basis as the process dictates,” D’Agostino told the DCNF. . .

. . . Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the White House have both criticized Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for busing illegal migrants to his city and Washington, D.C., with Adams accusing Abbott of using the migrants as “political pawns,” in an Aug. 7 tweet.

"Political pawns." You don't say? They may be pawns but actual, legal American citizens aren't even on the friggin' chess board.

Amidst ongoing food supply chain issues and shortages in the U.S., House Democrats introduced a bill that would designate an extra $50,000,000 for food programs for migrants in addition to a baseline of $150,000,000. . .

. . . Under the Biden White House, illegal immigration into the U.S. has skyrocketed, with many migrants attempting to enter the U.S. via the porous southern border. The $50,000,000 would likely go towards these individuals, who’ve already received taxpayer-funded healthcare and cross-country flights.

The decision to allocate an additional $50,000,000 to migrant services also follows shortages of common household items and food products such as baby formula plaguing U.S. citizens, with forecasts suggesting the shortages will intensify.

It also follows the rampant inflation under the Biden White House causing a considerable increase in demand for foodbanks across the U.S.

If I had a suspicious nature, I would postulate that the junta is, er, "grooming" millions of people for their votes (as if voting will even be a thing in the next decade or so) as they replace an obstinate, obdurate native population with one that has little care for trivial things like freedom and self-reliance. But that's conspiracy talk. The fact that the indigenous population of the nation formerly known as the United States of America is on a trajectory to be majority foreign born and immigrant is the former's fault and a completely natural phenomenon, having nothing to do with open borders and the intentional flooding of our land with illiterate, third-world peasantry since 1965. Don't even think that, h8trz!

Moving on to the next little item on this morning's agenda, nothing is more important than having the best and the brightest in charge of our national security. We need folks who are clear-thinking, rational and whose only agenda is keeping us safe from our greatest global threats. Good thing we have a deep bench of top men.

Jeremy Bash served in several roles during the Obama administration, including CIA Chief of Staff, Defense Department Chief of Staff, and House Intelligence Committee Chief Counsel. He currently serves as Managing Director of Beacon Global Strategies and as an advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Bash also contributed to CNN and MSNBC during the Trump administration.

After the New York Post published emails obtained from Hunter Biden’s laptop, Bash signed onto a letter claiming that the release “has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”

“If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this,” the officials, including former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director Michael Hayden wrote in the letter. . .

. . . “This looks like Russian intelligence, this walks like Russian intelligence, this talks like Russian intelligence,” Bash told host Nicolle Wallace. “This effort by Rudy Giuliani and the New York Post and Steve Bannon to cook up supposed dirt on Joe Biden looks like a classic Russian playbook disinformation campaign. And let’s recount exactly what happened in July 2019, when President Trump talked to Zelensky, he said, ‘talk to Rudy Giuliani. He’s my guy on trying to dig up false dirt on Joe Biden.'”

Never mind the fact that even the biggest regime house organs like the NY Times and WaPo grudgingly admitted the absolute veracity of the laptop, albeit a year late and buried in the classified ads, ditto none other than election-rigger extraordinaire Mark Zuckerberg himself on Joe Rogan's show. Bash still lands one of the top slots in the national security apparatus of this nation. Meh, what the hell is this nation now, anyway?

But wait! There's more!

Nikole Flax worked under Lois Lerner in the Obama administration IRS while the agency infamously targeted conservative political organizations such as the Tea Party by slow-walking and suppressing their tax-exempt applications. She was also one of seven executives whose hard drives mysteriously self-destructed, preventing House investigators from viewing her emails. Now, the career IRS executive has been tapped to establish a new, centralized office in charge of implementing the Democrats’ latest tax and spending bill, including oversight of the 87,000 new IRS agents the bill authorizes. . .

. . . It turns out that Flax has been with the IRS since way back in the Obama days. Art Moore at WND reminds us that “In May 2014, the Treasury Department’s inspector general for tax administration concluded in a report that the IRS delayed the processing of applications for tax-exempt status by certain conservative groups and sought private information that was later deemed unnecessary.”

The Eric Holder (aka “Obama’s Wingman") Justice Dept. spent two years investigating the head of the Exempt Organizations division, Lois Lerner, before deciding — you’ll never believe it! — not to bring any charges. . .

. . . Then [journalist Jeff] Bergner discussed the latest intolerable Biden [junta] appointee:

Less well known is that apparently six other IRS computer hard drives crashed in exactly the same time frame. Every one of these belonged to an IRS employee in Cincinnati’s tax-exempt office or at headquarters in Washington, D.C. Each of these six other employees played a role in targeting tea party groups.…

One of the missing computer hard drives belonged to Nikole Flax, chief of staff to the then-commissioner of the IRS. Flax, by the way, visited the White House no fewer than 31 times during the period the tea party was targeted between 2010 and 2012.

In a functioning government, someone like Flax would have been canned and prosecuted for her apparent politicization and abuse of authority. In a Democrat-run swamp, she is given even more power to harass and suppress political opposition.

I had almost forgotten about the mass wave of erased hard drives. Just like the ones Hillary wiped, "like with a cloth?" And yet, Donald Trump and the Mar-a-Lago raid. Blood boiling yet? Well after those insults, meet injury:

. . . thanks to Lindsey Graham, the lid is now off.  He just legitimized the antithetical idea that Republicans do take to the streets with violence and hatred.

Remember the Tea Party, and especially the Tea Party Express?  Hundreds of thousands of conservatives from across the country staged peaceful protests that broke no laws.  There were no arrests, and Tea Partiers left no public mess.  Literally, they cleaned up after themselves.  More important, they took reasonable, logical positions on potentially divisive issues known to the larger public, and do without arrests, violence or property destruction – let alone human injuries or deaths.  Even despite the liberal media’s desire to avoid reporting anything positive about the Tea Party, the word got out that Republicans and Conservatives respected the spirit of the laws and the Constitution.

All that can now be consigned to the dustbin of history, thanks to the Senior Senator from South Carolina.

Here’s what he said:“Most Republicans, including me, believe when it comes to Trump, there is no law.  It’s all about getting him,” Graham said on Trey Gowdy’s program on Fox News, Sunday Night in America.  “There is a double standard when it comes to Trump.  What happened with Hunter Biden is that the FBI weighed in to make sure the story didn’t break before the 2020 election.  We now have whistleblowers at the FBI telling Senator Chuck Grassley that they were told to slow down and back off Hunter Biden. And I’ll say this, if there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling classified information after the Clinton debacle … there will be riots in the street.”

Wow, where did that come from?  From the FBI and Hunter Biden to … riots in the street?

Who knew?

Graham has offered a blazing inducement for Progressive Liberal state attorneys general to step up to the plate and indict Trump before the mid-terms, confident that this will incite conservative riots in the street … riots that will hand the House and the Senate back to the Democrats.

With Graham’s statement – whether it’s a threat or a promise isn’t clear – no Republican can expect a fair hearing on January 6 when we say “that ain’t us.”  Because our own senior Senate leader says, in effect, “hell yeah, that is us!

I don't know that what that fey fraudster belched up is going to move the needle vis a vis the electorate. What it potentially can do is, as the author of that piece notes, give political cover for an already feral junta to ramp up the prosecutions and persecutions of innocent people via a corrupt FBI, a feral IRS or any of the other alphabet soup of bureaucracies that can crush anyone like an insect it deems to be a threat. Not to the civil society, but to "our precious democracy" (*vomits*).

UPDATE: As commenter MP4 reminds us, it was Graham who had implored the Capitol cops to open fire on unarmed, non-violent J-6 protesters, so maybe this is his way of imitating Ray Epps or the Whitman FBI stooges to incite violence so as to provoke a reaction from the Junta that crushes all dissent once and for all. Graham can't go to hell fast enough for my taste.

Posted by: Cat Ass Trophy at August 30, 2022 07:41 AM (Wrs74)

Not just that, most of these new traffic circles are simply not large enough. Driving is as much about confidence as any other task is. When the circle is too tight, it drives down the ability of the driver to judge how fast everyone is moving and be able to judge that they have enough time to merge into a given spot. Also, people are trying to judge spatial distances on a curve. They may think someone is in one lane of traffic when they are in fact in another.

With traffic circles, you force people to lean more heavily on more complex spatial relationships than a simple four way stop does.

Traffic circles don't work because the idiots who design them don't account for imbalanced traffic flows. There is one on my way to work that is on the offramp of a freeway. One side of the circle has no traffic whatsoever, and one side is a high speed offramp. The traffic crossing over the freeway has no one to yield to, and thus fill the circle, while the exit ramp backs up onto the main lanes to a stop. In the 3 years it has been there, there have been at least four fatalities.

That's always a fascinating phenomenon to experience driving-wise. Not just with the illusion of traffic circles, but with everything. Drivers will go a mile out of the way and take thirty extra seconds just to be moving.

We like the sense of motion. It means something to us even if it doesn't accomplish anything.

There was a McDonalds we would pass on trips that we would stop at because of this. They never once got an order correct, and it became a fun family game. None of us liked McDonalds all that much, but it was hilarious to see what would be in the bag.

I agree. It looks more and more like it was the defense raiding the documents of the other legal team to see what they'd face in court, with the added benefit of a temporary librarian at the National Archives re-deeming unclassified papers "classified" again because we're a lawless society now.

Zombie ice eats CAGW Believers' brains because it takes so many to make a meal.

And it's quite the coincidence that the melt will equal an imperial foot and not, say, 9.5 inches or 41.5 cm or any other non-rounded number.

I was standing there, holding the box out in amazement, when another shopper came by and asked me if something was wrong. I said, "Look at this! Large size? Do they really think people are that stupid?" And before the other shopper could reply, I just spat out, "Oh, but who cares? No mean tweets and that's all anyone in this shithole state cares about!"

Threw the box in my cart and went off. I don't know what the other shopper thought, and at this point I don't care.

Thinking about it, I bet that when Trump returned those documents, they found docs on a topic that they didn't know Trump had records of. Therefore the desperate attempt to find them using a clearly illegal search warrant.

149 I think the "Russiagate documents" they're looking for don't incriminate Trump. I think they're Trump's insurance policy against the feds' criminality.

I think they not only show who was spying on Trump and his campaign but how they did it which is why the DOJ is using he excuse of exposing classified "sources and methods". They don't want Americans to see that they were using the tools designed to spy on foreign terrorists against Americans including the President of the United States.

That's why they pulled this idiotic, illegal raid on Mar A Lago, they felt exposure was even worse.

Hasn't really been all that much exposure. Still large swaths of this country that still believe Trump colluded with Russia to rig the 2016 election.

The left controls the bureaucracy. The left largely controls the judiciary. The left controls the media. We are fighting against an entrenched enemy that has spent decades not just digging into all facets of our government and media but designing a system that protects itself.

Wins for us are going to be incremental and largely unsatisfying if you expect real justice until we break the swamp. There will be more cases like Sussmann where guilt is proven overwhelmingly and he is allowed to walk until we can make a breakthrough. Exposing the DOJ/FBI deep seated corruption might be a big step in making that happen.

Or we can give up and let them crush us.

211 Watching Democrats boost MAGA Republicans in state primaries, because they think general election voters will reject them as too extreme relies on a single basic assumption. If voters decide those MAGA's are better candidates than the tyrant-supporting Democrats, the strategy blows up in Democrat faces.

So, go for it Dems.

I have no idea why he didn't release them after he got out. Maybe he was under threat of prosecution. Even if was bogus he likely would have been indicted in DC because a DC jury will obviously indict Trump or his supporters on anything.

This is a pretty high stakes game. Easy to say what Trump should've done from out here. Nobody has paid a bigger price for fighting the left than Trump. I'm sure he wants revenge more than anyone.

Occam's Razor says that the reason Trump hasn't done a doc dump on the Deep State conspiracy is because he doesn't have the docs.

I don't believe that Comey sent emails or memos that said "we have to get this bastard so lie, cheat, and steal if you have to." They didn't write it down. The stuff that was written down is either fake or has plausible deniability built in. Just like the search warrant and the affidavit.

I like Kash, I really do. But he says a lot of stuff that simply has no backup or no weight - his appearance in The Plot Against The President was well-groomed (in the good sense of the word) but didn't establish anything we didn't know.

And he's full of hopium. This morning on WMAL in Washington he was asked about Thibauld, and he said yet another Russia-gater that "we got fired" (I will give him that victory lap) then listed Strzok and Page and Comey and McCabe and then went further. He said senior FBI agents aren't escorted out unless they are accused of a crime and he was looking forward to prosecution and conviction...literally in the same breath as listing that parade of horribles who not only have not been indicted, they have been rewarded.

And Occam aside, money talks, bullshit walks. If you have the docs exposing it all, show me. What, you're worried that the FBI is going to raid his house and then indict him? They are going to do that anyway.

Agreed. So, what was in those boxes trucked out of Mar-a-Lago?

My point is that the documents were declassified by Trump prior to leaving office. Whether they could have been released anytime before the raid is the question. My contention is that they "should" have been released. That they "could" is a moot point now.

Posted by: IrishEi at August 30, 2022 08:37 AM (3ImbR)

If he has the docs -why wouldn't he release them? It's the same argument either way.

the most obvious possible reasons they raided were a) hoping to find something they could use to prosecute Trump (i.e., a fishing expedition); or b) Trump really had some classified documents they thought he shouldn't have and they thought this was a good excuse to go after Trump and try and drum up criminal charges. It's not like they haven't done exactly that in the past. They live in an echo chamber where everyone hates Trump so they thought the raid would be better received by the public and turn more people against Trump.

If Trump had truly damning documents and has not released them, then Trump and his team are absolute fools. What is he waiting for?

The one local one-lane roundabout is really a better answer than the old four-way stop or the stoplight, where one person waiting to take a left caused major backups. And expanding to left turn lanes etc was impractical. As roundabouts go, it's nice.

I had this idea of enlisting some high schoolers to prank the roundabout. It's uphill in all four directions, so we could film from good vantage points. Preferably at rush hour, just enough cars to keep the circle full. Plan to circle around, say, three times, then exit, up the hill, turn around, back to the roundabout. Keep it going as long as possible. Viral vid!

But, as Mr. Nixon famously intoned, that would be wrong.

True, but it doesn't translate to a was where Democrats can possibly get the House. The GOP ended up with a majority of 33.

Most predictions have been a 40 seat gain or so (with a handful going as high as 50 or 60, which is the kind of overexcited prediction one is to expect in a good year).

That's not, "Democrats won a moral victory" territory. That's, "Democrats got spanked, but we used a belt instead of a switch."

The most obvious answer is that they didn't think it would make them look bad. These people all live in an echo chamber where everyone hates Trump. they believe those of us that support Trump are uneducated idiots that can easily be confused and duped.

But, your question is just as easily asked "if Trump had the documents, why wouldn't he have already released them?" What possible reason can he have for waiting? It's just as absurd to think Trump is sitting on damning proof of the illegal conspiracy against him but will not release such proof.

Quite frankly, I doubt any "damning proof" type documents exist. I doubt any texts, memos, or emails were written that clearly show an illegal conspiracy against the President.

As an experiment go stand at the gas station at a Costco one day for an hour and count the number of vehicles using the gas pumps. Now try that same math with the same number of "quick" EV chargers that take at least 45 minutes to charge a car. It ain't never gonna work.

and yet they were able to fake up however many they wanted, and I swear they did SOMETHING to switch people's votes in the collar counties? really, republican GUYS around here all voted for BIDEN suddenly? but not for Dems elsewhere on their ballots?!? BS!!!

argh!

and also Dave, I told this story before but the city of Philadelphia has great swaths of shit neighborhoods there are DEVOID of residents. but I bet the census/DNC has residents there! I was just driving around this past week (lost, looking for bridesburg) and went thru some bad NE philly areas (ugh). they are wastelands. the numbers the city claims are so inflated it's a massive joke.

349 EPA waives fuel rule in 4 states after Indiana refinery fire

https://tinyurl.com/y8f2n5ba

It was an electrical fire, not a massive fire that would knock the refinery out of production for months. This is unprecedented. In the past the EPA has only waived fuel requirements for major events that hit an entire region, like hurricanes. Never a single refinery. Also, the standard would have changed on Sept 15th anyway, so the waiver only affects about 17 days.

This is totally political. The EPA is specifically trying to keep gas prices low to save democrats.

Believing that there is evidence of Biden's corruption that the FBI is ignoring does not equate to the existence of documents clearly demonstrating a conspiracy against Trump. And note - I am talking about some clear evidence, not emails with vague statements that can be argued show such a conspiracy. I'm saying I doubt there exists any documents where some high-level FBI agent writes "let's illegally surveille the president and try to get him tossed out of office". very rarely do such incriminating documents exist.

>>But, your question is just as easily asked "if Trump had the documents, why wouldn't he have already released them?"

I find that really hard to believe. Nobody is so tone deaf that they believe raiding the former President of the United States, even someone the left hates as much as Trump, wouldn't make them look bad. They may hate Trump but they also know he is wildly popular with a large segment of the population or they wouldn't have had to help rig an election against him.

They've been trying to find something to disqualify him or better to indict him on non-stop for over 6 years. They have been using illegal methods at every step of the way. I have no doubt at all if Trump had released the documents he would have been indicted even if it was on charges they knew wouldn't stick because their ultimate goal is to keep him out of the 2024 race.

If the documents are that damning releasing them wouldn't hurt a civil lawsuit. BTW, you should know as a trial lawyer that when things do not make sense, that you do not have complete information about what is going on. Pretty much everything is speculation at this point other than a raid occurred and it occurred over some documents that Trump retained. None of us know what was in those documents. We also know that Trump has filed suit against Hillary and co and to that point has to provide evidence at trial as the plaintiff as to their misdeeds. So everything from this point is pure inference from these two data points including your speculation that it does not make sense to you.

405 IF the documents are compelled by a court to be produced in discovery motions, then any attempt to put Trump on trial for misuse or illegal retention of documents goes out the window.

Not true. Please cite a source for this. You can be required to produce documents in a civil lawsuit in your "possession, custody, or control". That doesn't mean your possession off the documents is legal and producing them in discovery doesn't make your possession of the documents legal.

Easy way to also affirm that these documents are real as a court verifies the documents submitted under affidavit (remember the IC is ready to claim hoax on anything negative about them and even invent it in the case of Hunter Biden).

Just because a document is produced and used in court doesn't mean it is authentic. A court can't "verify" a document. The party putting the document forward must authenticate the document, lay a foundation for submission of the document, etc. and if the Court lets the document into evidence (which is not "authenticating" it) the other side can present whatever evidence it wants that the document is a fake.

I've already answered this several times. the most likely answers are the most obvious. It was either a pure fishing expedition hoping to find evidence of some crime or they truly believed he had documents he shouldn't and thought this would be a good "gotcha". When it comes to Trump, the deep state does not act entirely rationally.

It is even possible they were after documents that would embarrass them, similar to Peter Stroz "insurance policy" email - vague enough that it's embarrassing but doesn't prove anything. but documents that would embarrass them is not the same thing as smoking gun proof of a criminal conspiracy against Trump. Like I said, I doubt such documents exist at all.

As I said, there are two Trump strategies going on here--the legal and the political--Trump does not want to be indicted I suspect and does want vindication through a lawsuit. To do that, he has to thread the needle on information that may or may not be classified that he needs to prove that. The other strategy is to play to the peanut gallery by releasing it all and damn the consequences. So, you could get a wet squib as most of the information in government documents is opaque and incomplete--the public does not do complicated--courts do a bit better. Second, it might ensure indictment of some sort and continued legal harassment of Trump.

The Deep State strategy is simple, stall if not prevent any embarrassing disclosures of anything and to get trump.

I simply believe that most LIV see the word Democrat, associate it with Democracy and and all of the free sh*t the Donks promise and vote accordingly, they see Republican associate it with Republic which thanks to our education system, have no f**king clue what that means and because of the general disorganization in message and platform, recoil at voting for the GOP.

I don't think that's obvious at all, particularly given all of the background information that has come out. We know that the Biden administration in the form of the WH Counsel was working with the NARA for months to get the specific documents returned. Trump refused. Trump fought to keep those specific documents after returning others.

So no, this wasn't some blind fishing expedition which would have been truly idiotic to do to the former POTUS. This raid was about specific documents.

Labor Day is the real kick off for voting and remember that Dems are trying to maximize the positive vibes as they depend on early voting nowadays to a very large degree. I do NOT trust Graham at all. His saying that there would be riots gives the Enemy political cover to ramp up the persecution of legitimate dissent.

Again, it was Graham that called on the Capitol Cops to fire on unarmed citizens.

475 {472} All this discussion of roundabouts/traffic circles isn't taking into account there are two different kinds: those where the vehicles entering the circle have the right of way, and those where the vehicles in the circle have the right of way. All the most recently constructed in my area are the latter.

What happens when the circle is full, and those entering still have right of way?

478 The kind of thing that happened in Baltimore happens in Los Angeles too. When Suge Knight was involved in a fight and killed his friend, the argument arose from "security" meaning the local gang arguing about money with him.

But the gangs are more experienced in L.A. and aren't so brazen. They make some nice cash working with film production.

480 "TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis celebrated another step in the state’s efforts to modernize public transit and reduce air pollutants caused by diesel emissions. Through the Volkswagen settlement, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is awarding more than $68 million that will secure 227 electric transit buses in 13 counties statewide that will replace existing diesel transit buses in Alachua, Broward, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Leon, Marion, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Orange, Palm Beach, Pasco, and Pinellas counties."

Love the guy, but it is stuff like this that makes me wonder. Perhaps I am oversensitive to people going 'green'
