AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo atsign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
7/16 – ellipse (… asked for prayers for a work friend (of 18 years) and fantastic young lady named Lauren, who has been sick and away from work for 3 months.
8/20 Update – Lauren is back at work and sounds very good and very upbeat. Thank you for your prayers.

7/18 – Emmie asked for prayers for God’s guidance and His will do be done regarding the sale of their house.
7/28 Update – The potential buyer decided it wouldn’t work for them. The house is officially listed (in a semi-rural area of Colorado). She would appreciate prayer that God would bring together the property and the people who can make good use of it.
8/24 Update – Emmie needs prayers. There are still no offers on their house, and they really need access to the money tied up in it. They did meet with an investor, expecting a lowball offer that might be somewhat reasonable, but it was ridiculous.

7/23 – Count de Monet asked for prayers for his friend Cheryl, as she packs up and moves from Texas to Tennessee. Prayers for a smooth closing and safe travels are appreciated.
8/6 Update – Cheryl is busy unpacking at her new place in Tennessee. The closing went smoothly.

7/24 – t_bodie asked for prayers for his son’s girlfriend, who is in the ICU with a failing liver. It came on suddenly and caught everyone by surprise. Please lift K. up for healing and T. for strength.
8/6 Update – K is out of the hospital and still recuperating. She has some lifestyle work to do.

7/26 – Nurse Ratched asked for prayers for Ann (Empire1), who had a fall recently and is in ICU. She is recovering but has a long row to hoe.
8/1 Update – Rehab is on hold until she is more stable. Her AFIB with high heart rate and significant edema have been way too stubborn, plus they found another infection. Thanks for the continued prayers!
8/23 Update – Ann has Covid on top of everything else. Her generalized edema grows slowly worse as her heart and kidney failure progress. Nurse Ratched prays that God holds Ann in His embrace and minimizes her suffering as nature takes its course. Thank you to all Ann’s online friends for lifting her up in prayer.

7/30 – Moki asks for prayers. Her cancer surgery has been postponed for 4 months so she can go through a series of extremely invasive and even 1 dangerous test, to prove that she will wake up from anesthesia. If she refuses the tests, they refuse to perform the cancer surgery. Her cancer is renal cell carcinoma, localized to one kidney at this time.
8/15 Update - Moki is having surgery today (8/15) to remove the tumor from her kidney. Please pray that the surgeons remove every trace of cancer, and for complete healing. And also for Mr. Moki and their two children.
8/17 Update – Moki is home from the hospital, earlier than expected. Thank you for all the prayers, she knows they have helped tremendously.

7/30 – Nova Local found our she has the C17 deletion form of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, about 30 years earlier than people normally get it. While it’s not curable, it could be a lot worse.

7/30 – Tonypete asked for prayers for his neighbor Karen. She is in her late 80s, and fell at home recently and gashed her head and broke her hip. She has Alzheimer’s and cancer. Her cancer is under control but will probably remain in a nursing care unit until the end. Her loving husband simply can’t care for her at home anymore. He also asked for prayers for his granddaughters: C is 8 and has a broken foot. No one knows how this happened(!?) E is 13 and completely out of control on social media. The girls have an unfit, alcoholic mother and an inattentive father. Tonypete and his wife continue to try and gain custody, but family court is not on their side. Additionally, a friend named Marsha recently discovered she has liver and pancreatic cancer, and her prognosis is poor.

8/2 – Hadrian the Seventh asked for prayers. He got the results of his heart exam, and his heart is fine, but they noticed some slight enlargement of the aorta. He has to go back for a CAT scan to find out what it looks like behind his heart, whether it’s still enlarged or not.

8/3 – Fenelon Spoke requests prayers for healing for a congregation member named Dorian, who has a bad case of Covid. Thanks so much!

8/4 – Defenestratus asks for prayers for his young cousin, who was rushed to the hospital for another case of myocarditis. It’s his second episode since he got the vaccine (after having had Covid). He’s incredibly smart, athletic, driven, as well as humble and kind.
8/20 Update – Thank you for the prayers. His cousin is out of the hospital again and into his dorm at the University of Florida.

8/9 – Fenelon Spoke asks for prayers for her church organist, Jessie, who is having pain and intestinal issues. Thanks so much!

8/10 – Aetius451AD would appreciate prayers for his aunt, who is going in for surgery for cancer. They think it has not spread and they can remove it all without chemo.

8/11 – Danger Girl asks for prayers for herself and Mr. D. They need prayers for guidance and health.

8/11 – “Ray Epps” (aka Bete?) asked for prayers, as his job hunt is about to break him. He is still dealing with cancer, too.

8/12 – Jim in Kalifornia needs prayers for his older child. He has been having issues with abdominal pain for a couple of months now and the doctors cannot find anything. Jim was looking through the lab results and just found something the doctors may have missed.

8/13 – Several people requested prayers for Donald Trump and his family.

8/13 – Mindful webworker asked for prayers for family members. Milady Jo’s health has improved a bit, but there’s still good reason to pray for longstanding problems. Daughter and her husband are still trying to conceive. SonM could use better health. SonC, his wife, and their two under-5yo children continue to refuse calls, texts, and emails. Pray for the Spirit of Truth to reach them both.

8/15 – Cosda asks for prayers for her sister, whose regularly scheduled colonoscopy revealed a problem. The sister will be having her ascending colon removed next week. It seems to be early in the cancer stage and contained. Prayers are appreciated by the family.

8/15 – Pug Mahon asked for prayers, as his wife was in ER with possible appendicitis.
8/20 Update – Pug and Mrs. Mahon appreciates the prayers, and she is doing fine.

8/15 – Westminsterdogshow asked for prayers. He had lost his dad today.

8/19 – mngiggle requested for prayers for his brother, who is in the ICU for pneumonia and possibly sepsis.

8/20 – Brave Sir Robin asks for prayers for Lady Robin. She was having serious lower G.I issues, and has been through medical testing from hell this week. Indicators so far are: fatty liver disease, collapsed gall bladder, thickened intestinal wall, and finally, a common but wicked virus called C.Diff. She is on antibiotics for that.

8/20 – Blake – semi lurker in marginal standing asked for prayers before his upcoming surgery (Tuesday). It involves a general anesthetic, which is where problems could occur, based on his other health issues.
8/23 Update – Surgery went well, and he came through the anesthesia okay.

8/20 – Joan asks for prayers for Gary, her husband, who has a lung infection, complicating his COPD. He is in acute rehab now with high CO2 levels, which impacts his mental state. Pray for salvation assurance and healing of the lung infection.

8/21 – Moron and on and on asks for prayers for Chuck’s Bethie. Her chemo has failed, the cancer has spread, and the doctors have nothing else. She is resigned to end stage care when it comes, but was enjoying this life. Chuck needs prayers, too, in losing a daughter.

8/22 – Romeo13’s son needs prayers. He is 31 years old, suddenly suffering from angina, after getting 3 of the clot shots.

8/23 – Javems is in pulmonary rehab for a while. It will be several hours each week.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

6 In Atlanta, the Fulton county district attorney, Fani Willis, has assembled a “special purpose grand jury” to spend up to a year focused on Trump’s multi-faceted attempt to fix Georgia’s election result.
Willis appears to be building a substantial body of testimony from some of Trump’s closest allies who witnessed the defeated president’s actions and in some cases intervened themselves, including his lawyer and advisor, Rudolph Giuliani, the former New York mayor. Two days before he testified last month, Giuliani was informed he is also a target of the criminal investigation.

This cunt rigged the election in Fulton county now is trying to send Trump to state prison for trying to stop the fraud.

9 There is a Nike commercial that plays all the time on MLB Network. About running. They have a bunch of different people explaining why "we run..."

We run... our own way, together, boogie down, strong, for ourselves, motivated, to set the turtle pace (not sure I heard this right?), for our kids (obese woman).

Notice not one of them said they run for their health, for good cardio fitness, etc.

I guess showing the obese woman saying "we run for our kids" is supposed to imply that she is running to try to lose weight to be healthy for her kids?

I don't watch any TV with commercials anymore, other than college football and MLB Network. Are there any commercials at all anymore where they promote good health? Seems like that has been deemed "fat/body shaming" now, so can't promote good health anymore.

34 Re the critical drinker sidebar:

My kid brought a John Cena monster truck book home from a book fair that I disappeared

It is a group of monster truck brothers assembled by (of course) a minority female mechanic. A female motorcycle (so tiny compared to monster trucks) wants to play with the group. She is stronger than the strongest, faster than the fastest, smarter than the smartest, braver than the bravest. And she is electric, but unlike the clunky electric monster truck that has to plug in, she charges wirelessly. And she assembled herself, so she is a better mechanic than their mechanic. The boys get pissed that she is a show off newcomer who is trying to assert control and chase her off. Does she learn humility? No. It is the boys who have to learn to accept someone who is better than them in every way and make her the new leader of their group. And it is their girl mechanic who teaches them this.

43 I actually watched some clips of Shia LaBeouf talking with Bishop Robert Barron and I came away impressed.

LaBeouf felt terrible about his life, all the awful things he's done and then realized all was not lost. He could be saved even with all his sins.

This is very important to me as well and one of the reasons I entered the Church. It has taken me a long time to fully wrap my brain around the wonder and grace of Reconciliation, but being able to shed the burden of guilt is amazing. I'm trying to teach my kids that confession is not a time of recrimination and embarrassment but one of redemption and freeing yourself from the weight of sin. I think they're starting to get it.

Counterpoint: I've seen parents who are super-involved and what this does is alienate the kids because they feel neglected. It's a delicate balance and I think the key is for kids to associate church with positive things rather than burdensome obligations.

Never ever ever too late. And the priest has heard it all before, believe me.

Today is the feast of St. Monica, who prayed for many years for her son Augustine to convert to Christianity and leave his dissolute lifestyle. He eventually did, and is considered one of the greatest saints and a Doctor of the Church.

You can do it. You will feel great relief when you do.

69 In Oregon there are serious requirements to being a mental health counselor, including board certs and yearly continuing education credit requirements.
However, to be a "life coach" you mostly have to promise not to hurt people. A friend defaulted on her license to be a counselor, and switched to being a life coach and the main difference is that she now has to charge cash instead of deal with the insurance payments . . .

I do wonder if all the MDs and Nurses that got forced out of work because of the Vaxx might be able to go on in GP sort of "life coach, and Massage therapist" role, and get paid cash for the services
They wouldn't have admitting rights to the hospitals, probably, but unless the state yanked the prescription part, they could issue scripts.

72 Counterpoint: I've seen parents who are super-involved and what this does is alienate the kids because they feel neglected. It's a delicate balance and I think the key is for kids to associate church with positive things rather than burdensome obligations.
Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd at August 27, 2022 09:39 AM (llXky)

Too many parents do not realize the value of letting the kid be his own person. I think to an extent it is because they view how the kid turns out as a hyper reflection on them (which it is to an extent.) However, what this causes is they want to make all of the choices for that child so no mistakes are made. This neuters the child's ability to be an individual- and actually learn how to make decisions and even destroys their agency- and desire for it.

They create democrats, essentially.

In this case, yes. Probably the Best Bang For The Buck covfefe bean. Yemen coffees tend to have more of a mocha overtone. The reason why you don't hear of Yemen beans is for a couple reasons: They are scooped up pretty quick by the Middle Eastern nations, and the other is that the harvesting of them has been rather sketchy where their usual practice (if you can call it that) creates plenty of opportunities for the bean to go bad.

But if you have a good importer, its the Go To coffee.

I absolutely agree. Both my parents were raised in very religious households - Mom Catholic, Dad Methodist.

They got married in a Unitarian Church as a slap at everyone, and they raised me to despise organized religion. My mother in particular thought I was becoming a Catholic just to spite her.

When they were young, yes, we all went to Mass as a family, but when teenage rebellion surfaced, I realized (after consulting with a priest!) that I was actually doing more harm than good. I was giving them something to fight against. So I dropped it.

The middle kid came back on her own and is very dedicated and now the youngest is starting to.

But both slack off, skip Mass for weeks because they're young and foolish.

I guess showing the obese woman saying "we run for our kids" is supposed to imply that she is running to try to lose weight to be healthy for her kids?

You can be absolutely sure all of those phrases were carefully crafted through focus group testing.

Each generation has its own ethos, Boomers are often accused of being the Me Generation, when in fact human nature is largely Me oriented. What has shifted is the rhetoric, plus the the more aggresive form of ego where you impose your will on others in the name of making things better for them.

Remember the advert where the guy got his live-in a Peloton stationary bicycle? People saw through that act where the guy imposed his will on others to do what would please him (have a hotter looking partner).

I have not seen the Nike advert, but the obese woman can't say that she is doing it for her own health because that would come off as selfish (or blatant fat shaming), and the style guide now says that things for yourself must be articulated in a way that makes it appear that you are altruistic.

Based on demographics, young men who want a kind, feminine and faithful wife should be going to church because there is a surplus of eligible women there.

Target-rich environment if there ever was one.

137 Trying to search for any sort of doctor or reviews is difficult.
Posted by: Aetius451AD

People will put more effort into a negative review than a positive. I can't make every patient happy, and there are some who just can not be pleased. 5000 happy patients will leave 0 reviews. That 1 bitch though...

But good concierge is hard to find, word of mouth is great- but also search the term "concierge". I looked into it last year with the vax madness. It is financially difficult at first until there are 3-400 patients in the practice. At that point, you are busy as hell.

Yup. But also, the fat-acceptance movement insists that one is "healthy at any weight," so that to exercise to lose weight violates their new truth. Doctors are lectured to not weigh patients, to not tell them excess weight can cause all sorts of health issues, media/entertainment are directed to (uncritically) feature more fat people, clothes stores are warned to offer big sizes (and diversity) or they will be boycotted. It's all 'let's pretend fat is normal and healthy' now to please the activists.

Posted by: grammie winger

Along with sound doctrinal teaching, when performing the usual church research after moving to ETX, I found a lot of what I was looking for by a recommendation from Eromero, but the distance was the problem. It wasn't a problem for me to go to them, but it would be an imposition to expect anyone to come out for me.

So I finally located an ideal congregation that checked off the boxes, but what was like second or so on the list was that the membership be almost cult-like in their interest in others in the local assembly. A new member's father died and the pastor drove seven hours out to the funeral site just to be in attendance. Missing a bible study or unexpectedly be absent Sunday solicits DMs from folks (not in a creepy way) to make sure everything is OK.

Better than blood family in a lot of ways.

Yes, but with many other denominations have become very leftist. I used to go with an old lady before I could drive and she said, "I like to go to the early service because it's silent." When there are no ordained clergy and various people who stand up to witness I imagine you get a whole lot of politics and not Christian doctrine. The Meeting House was fieldstone and dated from the 1700s. I liked to shut my eyes and listen to the fireplace crackling and wait on God. I never said anything.

156 I went to Confession after a long absence. Went a few more times while I was studying Catholic Theology. I learned that a partial Confession is invalid. You cannot intentionally leave sin out.

I sat down a made a list, in chronological order.

I drew a line across it at a point that I attended a "General Absolution." I went to confession with the list and told the priest about the General Absolution. He said that I did not need to mention sins from before that.

Afterward, I was so lifted up. So reconciled. Now, I go to Confession much more regularly because partaking of Holy Communion in a state of sin is itself the sin of Sacrilege.

Stay confessed my friends.

While "being good" is an expected characteristic of being a Christian, that is a result of an outside influence (aka "sanctification"). The original premise of Christianity is that, as Job puts it "I am vile" precedes the initial desperation that we are all hopelessly sinful and alienated from God because of that sin. It is through grace and justification through faith (not of our own) and not of our works (ad hoc quid pro quo negotiations for favor) that merits any sort of atonement.

Not to denigrate this (i'm actually more or less jealous ), but I really don't get that feeling in a church, unless the church is empty. It's completely a form of Pride, I'm aware, and I'm a horrible person for it, but I feel like the presence of human beings somehow pollutes the experience of worship.

The most analogous thing to what you describe I can think of that I feel is discussing religion with someone who is disdainful of religion or the church, and cracking that armor by demonstrating that some cherished grievance they hold against "Jesus People" or even the Bible itself is just plain factually unwarranted. I don't have any desire to walk the path of Christ with anyone else, but I do get a little endorphin boost when I feel that I may have kindled someone else to at least take a peek down that path themselves.... That sure as heck isn't the OPC. They made a struggle session part of both morning and evening worship services where the congregation recites one of several variants of a Sinner's Prayer, whereupon the pastor would then read a passage of Scripture that taught of the salvation and assurances.

He was with a small group of other priests and laity and smiled amiably the the ticket taker as they strolled in but made no sign of paying the fee.

The ticket-taker spoke up and the bishop's demeanor became suddenly stern. "This is my seat, my cathedral which you stole from me. I'm not going to pay you to visit it." And then they continued to admire the architecture and talk about its history, ignoring the ticket taker, who gave up.

A lot of Catholic Churches are having a strong emphasis on all day adoration on weekdays, so if you just need to be in God's Church and can't stomach the weekend masses for some reason, you can have a quiet hour of reflection with God once (or more) per week at another time of your choosing.

Yup.

I ran recently ran 100A from my main panel to the garage, to put in an EV charger. Around here being "EV ready" adds a lot more to the value of your house than the cost (which was the cost of 100ft of cable + my time + kids time (they're very helpful with fishing that fat cable ).

To see whether the 200A main panel would be sufficient, I bought a kit to monitor usage. We almost never exceed 40A, and usually under 20A. But now I can charge an EV at 80A in my garage.

Think about the entire street charging at 80A overnight. Those transformers (and probably transmission lines) all the way back to the substation are going to have to be replaced.

Posted by: quantum mechanic at August 27, 2022 11:08 AM (g1EEm)

267 Someone actually did the math ( I know, but someone else did it, not me) and there is no way that enough electric vehicles could be produced even if people were willing to do this insane changeover.
The obvious results of using an unproven technology is already being demonstrated. Some city in CT changed all their buses to electric. One spontaneously caught on fire and burned to a crisp.
So entire fleet shelved.

268 Yes, even if an electric vehicle is cheaper to operate gas wise, it never amortizes the initial cost over the life of the vehicle.

If your child needed immediate medical care and the only way of getting there in time was by helicopter, how much would you pay?

The point being, costs are irrelevant if what you need is no longer available at any price. Countless articles and books have been written on the impracticality of EV. Everything from sourcing materials (impossible) to generating electricity (also impossible) to performing essential daily operations, maintenance and eventual disposal.

Out of curiosity, does Mexico, or for that matter Russia, or any African or South/Central American country also have these mandates or are ICE vehicles still available to them as far as any event horizon allows?

Recently watched a show where a guy wanted to buy a house in Baltimore. Realtor took him to a very nice townhouse but it lacked a garage so there was only street parking. He said that wasn't acceptable because he'd need to charge a car and there were no obvious charging stations on the street. The realtor walked over to the house's electric meter, mounted on the front of the house, and uncoiled an electrical line with a plug attached. The realtor told the guy, here's how cars are charged around here.

So, I suppose, the problem would be if all the houses on both sides of the street also ran EV charging lines off their outdoor meters? At the time of the show, I only thought about the shootings that will follow in the nice looking neighborhood once "vistors" come along and plug into residents' power.

We have totally abandoned use of two thirds of the house except to store stuff. Eliminating "stuff" is going to be the really hard part. I'm thinking it's anything sold in China, but American manufacturers aren't going to build two of every model*, and China is their biggest market so they're going to spend their money building China-compliant vehicles. So we get to buy what China wants, meaning they control our market.

Now that I have gotten used to it, I love that I have small space to clean, that I can walk to most places. However, I did not have to get used to sharing the space and I have a garage space.
My advice is to give it some time and be happy that the person you are sharing the space with is still around to share it with you.

337 I am making $85 an hour working from home. i was greatly surprised at the same time as my neighbour advised me she changed into averaging $95 however I see the way it works now. I experience mass freedom now that I'm my non-public boss.
