Fed Head Jer Powell warns that inflation will be very not-transitory and the Dow plunges 1000 points.

Note he says that he's going to keep interest rates high for a long time -- which means inflation is going to be high for a long time. He wouldn't just keep interest rates high for the hell of it. He's keeping them high because he expects it will take an extended recession -- you know, the recession we're definitely not in --before inflation begins to abate.

Stocks plummeted Friday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said in his Jackson Hole speech the central bank won't back off in its fight against rapid inflation.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 1,008.38 points, or 3.03%, to 32,283.40, with losses accelerating into the close. The S&P 500 fell 3.37% to 4,057.66, and the Nasdaq Composite slid 3.94% to 12,141.71.
The major averages declined for a second week. The Dow tumbled 4.2%. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite lost roughly 4% and 4.4%, respectively.
Powell reiterated a tough stance against inflation, spurring investors to weigh the implications of higher interest rates kept in place for a longer time.
"Restoring price stability will likely require maintaining a restrictive policy stance for some time. The historical record cautions strongly against prematurely loosening policy," Powell said.

Because this is the best economy in 81 million votes. Wait, I think I'm getting my ludicrous propaganda lines mixed up. Well whatever, something something semi-fascist.

Yesterday I wrote that the DC students denied an education wouldn't have learned anything in DC's horrible schools anyway. I must have picked that up from this article about the situation from Christopher Fountain. I've had that tab up among my 300+ open tabs for a week, so the headline was stuck in my head.

DC's incompetent and corrupt mayor realized that this is, as the Smug Twitter Liberals (by which I mean "FBI agents") say, "a bad look," so she has just given students a reprieve... until 2023. So until January. They can go to school until January, and then they'll be kicked out.

Hey I've got an idea: Instead of the teachers union forcing healthy children with virtually no risk of serious illness due to covid to get an untested vaccination, why don't the morbidly obese teachers so worried about catching covid fucking start losing weight so they won't be so susceptible to infection?

Oh right -- children are "resilient." So let's make them carry all of the burden on behalf of adults being paid by the state.

So strange how the CDC has still never addressed weight loss as a general prophylactic against covid and all other respiratory infections! It's almost as if there's a powerful left-aligned lobby that forbids obvious medical advice about weight loss.

Actually, our local education system has in fact been fairly decent about firing these loons once they make themselves known. The Utah teachers union hasn't made a peep; primarily because they know they aren't popular.

yeah, it is kinda crazy to say it of Nazis, but indeed, any ideology that "catches on" generally has some "good points". DeSantis does seem to understand the political war in which we find ourselves with the Deep State/WEF/China and their control of every institution in DC.

However, his (or Trump's) success in taking it on depends on being able to (1) find trustworthy people who are capable fighters just like him and (2) getting people in all these institutions to get back to respecting the authority of the President and following orders. I think we've all made mistakes in trusting numerous people on the right / in the GOP over the past 14 years since Obama and his radicals took over DC. People who were exposed as frauds when Trump came on the scene and promised to actually do all the things the GOP had been promising, but failing on for decades... and those frauds worked against Trump instead of with him.

Whoever wins, he has to find people who understand that we are in a political war and that they will be subject to the Deep State/WEF/China attempts to corrupt/buy them or to destroy their lives, if they refuse to be corrupted/bought.

I think the first step to dealing with the situation is simply acknowledging it. That is what worries me about the entire conservative/MAGA movement, let alone elected Republican representatives. People on the right say all the right things, but I just wonder if anything really sinks in with the people saying it. Or are they immune from the things they are talking about.

People like Tucker Carlson are immune. He's a millionaire. He has zero worry about inflation and everything else. People like Jesse Kelly and Jack Posobiec and Ben Shapiro and Julie Kelly and all the celebrity political pundits on TV, Twitter, writing books, etc... does any of this sink in for them? Or is their political commentary simply a day job for them? Are any of them actually *doing* anything? Anyone working on a movement to reverse the leftist march through the institutions?

I agree. In person is always the way to go for our side. It takes the literal "demonization" of us out of the picture when folks see how nice and friendly we are...it also helps us tailor the right message for the right time.

I've had lots of conversations with lots of liberal folks about changing things, but it's a soft touch to start and a long process to get there...

I don't think we can succeed with that strategy. The Left used a different successful strategy over the past 50 years. They took over culture by taking over schools, taking over Hollywood, taking over entertainment industry, taking over social media, etc.

And they completely divided children, tweens, teens and young adults from typical mentoring figures: parents, religious leaders. And they took advantage of a society that pushed mothers into the workforce and pushed families to 2-working parent families and used the trust children (and parents) place in teachers.

I don't know how we get the culture back without (1) putting more emphasis on the importance of parents parenting their children and (2) taking back schools.

Not sure how that is an example for being optimistic. In a sane world, Whitmer would be losing big. If she is up that much with less than 3 months to go after all the shit she put the people of this state through the past 2 1/2 years -- murdering people in nursing homes, tyrannical non-science COVID-19 policies, election fraud with mail-in ballots, the bullshit FBI fednapping op, etc -- then, that is really fucking depressing.

Not surprising though. This is a long-time deep blue state full of Karens and auto unions. Wretched, Nessel and Benson control the state and will likely easily win re-election.
