Whistleblower: FBI Officials Told Agents Not to Investigate Hunter Biden Laptop

Second attempt. I blew up the last thread trying to fix it.

The FBI fortified the election.

According to Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), a whistleblower claims that FBI officials told investigators not to look into Hunter Biden's laptop before the 2020 presidential election, saying they're "not going to change the outcome of the election again."
"These new allegations provide even more evidence of FBI corruption and renew calls for you to take immediate steps to investigate the FBI's actions regarding the laptop," the senator wrote in a letter to Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz on Tuesday that detailed the whistleblower's claims.

...

Johnson said that "individuals with knowledge of the FBI's apparent corruption" revealed to his office that FBI brass deliberately obstructed the investigation into President Biden's son.

"After the FBI obtained the Hunter Biden laptop from the Wilmington, Delaware, computer shop, these whistleblowers stated that local FBI leadership told employees, 'you will not look at that Hunter Biden laptop' and that the FBI is 'not going to change the outcome of the election again,'" Johnson wrote.

...

According to the whistleblowers, the FBI did not begin reviewing the contents of the younger Biden's laptop until after the 2020 election, which Johnson says might have been a year after the FBI got it in December 2019.

Johnson called on Inspector General Horowitz to investigate.

Yeah, don't hold your breath.

And even if he does investigate, what happens? DC juries not only acquit, but award the criminal FBI agents book deals and a Brand New Car.

Sorry I blew up the last thread and all of your comments.

21 Johnson, Grassley, and every congressional republican on the intelligence committee knew from day one that Russiagate was a false flag paid for by the Clinton campaign, and run through the FBI by lying to congress and to judges, yet they not only hid that information, but publicly addressed the issue as if it was possibly true.

That alone is an indictment of every one of them.

I'll try to restate my comment from the dead thread.

I found this interesting when I read it yesterday. The "again" implies that they think this did last time. I might be reading too much into institutional psychology, but is it possible that the FBI thinks it is responsible for Trump winning the election? That their "cover-up/suppress, then investigate, then exonerate" play last time handed Clinton a defeat?

The FBI, like the rest of the deep state, hates Trump with the fury of a thousand suns, but they went (and remain) particularly bonkers in going after him. Is the FBI trying to expiate its institutional guilt (imagined or real) for bringing about the Trump administration? Is their stalwart refusal to discuss the Hunter Biden stuff an effort to avoid the mistakes of the past and rather than a fake investigation and phony exoneration, they just suppressed?

Pointless theatrics and he knows it. How about doing something in your power and staking something important on it? How about you promise to filibuster any funding bill that includes money for the FBI and, if needed, the entire DoJ? Tell your buddies in the House that they shouldn't even go down the road of trying to fund the FBI. Promise to end the FBI through law and finance when your party retakes the Congress next year. Even if it's just the House, loudly proclaim that you'll work with them to ensure no FBI funding, even if it means a government shutdown battle.

Or just make loud noises about how it's someone else's problem, belly up to the trough and keep conning the rubes.

Does this imply whoever said it thinks that Trump won because the FBI ...... um, comically, and outrageously, did *NOT* do its job in 2016? The absurd "Mid-Term Exam" "investigation"?

Oh, oh, wait. Horowitz found the most jaw-dropping moves in that "investigation" to be "defensible investigative judgements" (almost verbatim). You know - there's a known, massive, clear violation of the Espionage Act, at the cabinet level, going on for years. There's even IC assessment of foreign exploitation.

But nobody is charged with a crime. Nothing. Bupkis. And Horowitz - in the degraded Third World clownshow that the Beltway has become - can pretend to believe this is OK.

Back in the Crossfire Hurricane days, I opined that there had to have been hundreds of people working on the investigation, categorized in 4 groups: 1. the actual conspirators (Strzok, Page, Clinesmith, etc), who knew the Russia hoax was bogus but pursued it for political reasons; 2. the gullible, who believed the hoax, probably because they were predisposed to believe any OrangeManBad stories; 3. the overly trsuting, who believed PDT was a Russian stooge because their chain of command said so; and 4. the cynical careerists, who could see the story was BS, but went with it anyway because Hillary was going to win and there was no up side to being on the Clintons' naughty list (then needed to cover it up).

Legal strategies to win a court case are different than political strategies. In a legal strategy when pursuing a claim where you have to support that claim with evidence, you go narrow. It is easier to prove these specific agents were politically corrupt than the whole FBI (which is true when you look at the track record of this particular unit). If you have intentions to sue for damages, you never make claims that can come back and bite you via the jury. It is easier to make the jury believe that these particular Feebs were corrupt than the whole system is (unless you get all of the jury from Liberty City).

338 TJM: still haven't checked but I believe several of the appropriations bills in the last Congress were in fact passed normally, i.e. separate bill, not just part of an omnibus/CR. The whole point about regular order was accountability (political); but as I see it *every* link in that mechanism is broken (including for GOP).

There's no shame among lawmakers. There's no politics in Congress any more (specifically politicizing specific issues and using this as a lever to change/remove members, via elections). There's no press - a key part of there no longer being any politics. And the electorate is variously passive, lazy, misinformed, outlandishly misinformed, or propagandized into reckless idiots. So politically there is literally no mechanism to make regular order appropriations votes matter.

TJM: still haven't checked but I believe several of the appropriations bills in the last Congress were in fact passed normally, i.e. separate bill, not just part of an omnibus/CR. The whole point about regular order was accountability (political); but as I see it *every* link in that mechanism is broken (including for GOP).

But even if a regular order appropriations bill is passed ahead of the constitutional deadline, isn't its point moot because it gets swept into another ominous / CR shit pile? Are we willing to suspend disbelief that the politicians, working against a ticking clock, will carefully exclude portions of a budget whose bills have passed already -OR- use the opportunity to "enhance" the appropriations for those portions of the government for which appropriations bills had already been passed?

I'm going with everything is in the pool and even the early birds get enhancements.

Yep. An old trick employed by many people over time is to intentionally trigger your opponents alarm systems in apparently innocuous ways. Eventually they turn off the alarm. That's when you attack.

Example: Toss a rabbit over the fence of a military installation that has lots of electronic surveillance.

What the cops need to do instead of not responding, is to respond in force, but send a single officer to the door who is armed with the knowledge that it's probably a hoax. If that single calm officer is able to inspect things and discover all is well, they go on their way. If they find something worse, they are prepared.

So lawmakers and telcos are in an alliance to do nothing despite the huge support for these measures.

412 Johnny Carson with Rodney Dangerfield was likely the pinnacle of the late night TV format.

That's how my kid discovered Johnny. He was looking for Rodney Dangerfield bits. (From their youth I've carefully cultivated my boy's senses of humor. They only appreciate the most nuanced of comedians)

416 Somebody is threatening her. I don't think they will just ignore it even if the suspect the chances of it being real are slim. They'd be in deep shit if they ignored a call and she or her family got hurt or killed.

Posted by: JackStraw

That isn't how SWATting works. SWATting is calling the cops saying someone is being murdered at xxxx address. You could be six states away when you made the phone call. You never have to talk to the target.

419 >>Serious question: if that dude had actually managed to assassinate Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh and/or his family, would ANYBODY -- from the Attorney General who ignored the criminal activity & threats to the local beat cop been in deep shit or held accountable?

Probably not much.

But then I don't think the Deep State stretches to local cops in Rome, Georgia. MTG is pretty popular there.

Posted by: JackStraw at August 25, 2022 12:22 PM (ZLI7S)

420 What the cops need to do instead of not responding, is to respond in force, but send a single officer to the door who is armed with the knowledge that it's probably a hoax. If that single calm officer is able to inspect things and discover all is well, they go on their way. If they find something worse, they are prepared.

Sounds like MTG needs a fence. And a dog. And maybe a few trinkets on the driveway from the gate at the fence. Just to make sure these helpful SWAT fellows take their time getting to the door.

Yes, I know how swatting works. They are clearly threatening her.

Do you know sometimes people get accidentally shot when police respond to these things? They aren't doing this just for an inconvenience. If they catch the person I bet they don't charge him or her or it with making prank phone calls.

I got fired for helping 21 people get killed. I imagine there's a sliding scale of harsh penalties.

Flatbed tow truck FTW. A truck with a generator would have to sit there for a few hours with the generator (and the meter) running. Tow truck hauls the dead EV to a charging site, and is then freed up for the next job.

431 Did Trump enlist the CIA and FBI into his "insurrection"?

If the truth be told, perhaps the opposite. Please note the date.

JOINT STATEMENT BY THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION (FBI), THE CYBERSECURITY AND INFRASTRUCTURE SECURITY AGENCY (CISA), THE OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE (ODNI), AND THE NATIONAL SECURITY AGENCY (NSA)
Original release date: January 05, 2021.

(One paragraph of several On behalf of President Trump, the National Security Council staff has stood up a task force construct known as the Cyber Unified Coordination Group (UCG), composed of the FBI, CISA, and ODNI with support from NSA, to coordinate the investigation and remediation of this significant cyber incident involving federal government networks. The UCG is still working to understand the scope of the incident but has the following updates on its investigative and mitigation efforts.

Thanks for letting me post.
