The Morning Report — 8/25/22

desantfacuiass.jpg

Good morning kids. First up this morning, a bit of housekeeping. Yesterday, I quoted a story from Conservative Treehouse that stated Ron DeSantis was silent about the FBI's Gestapo raid on Mar-a-Lago and expressed my concern about it. Had I bothered to do a rudimentary search, I would have found that he was among the first to immediately blast it for the cheap, banana republic bullshit that it was. Therefore, I want to apologize to the governor and more importantly to all of you. I make it a point to be as accurate as possible and when I'm wrong, I own up to it. Why the author made that assertion is for him to explain, but it's my fault for not checking its veracity before dinging DeSantis. Unlike the Taters and Bidens and Faucis of this world, I strive to get my facts straight, correct my mistakes when I am wrong, and will endeavor to be as accurate as possible going forward.

And speaking of Ron DeSantis, here's a little taste of red meat:

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) blasted Dr. Anthony Fauci, who serves as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and Chief Medical Advisor to President Joe Biden (D), during an event Wednesday afternoon. . .

. . . “I’m just sick of seeing him. I know he says he’s gonna retire. Someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac!”

While anyone can make that statement, DeSantis is arguably more justified than almost anyone to make that statement considering his track record during the "two week" curve-flattening period wherein he protected the freedom and livelihood of Floridians from the depredations and tyranny of Biden, Whitmer, Cuomo et al.

Under Anthony Fauci's direction and recommendation, the American economy went dormant for "15 days to slow the spread" and then, upon his obstinant insistence, that 15 days was extended and extended and extended, creating economic and social impacts still felt across our nation.

Indeed, as of August 23 (the origination date of this column), 14 states were still operating under Emergency Health protocols, according to the National Academy for State Health Policy. Under Fauci's strong recommendation, states seized power and control of their citizens' rights, livelihoods and liberty in an effort to "slow the spread" a full two and a half years after Fauci's first shut-down advice.

But, remarkably, that's not the worst crime in Fauci's tawdry and shameful legacy. . .

. . . Because of Anthony Fauci, Americans have a dwindling – if non-existent – level of faith in their public health institutions. When the next "expert" stands in front of the American people to deliver information, advice and warnings about a public health issue, most of us will be skeptical and wonder if what we are hearing has been politicized. And that's Fauci's fault.

Fauci is worse than the boy who cried wolf. He's the boy who told fantastical tales about multiple wolves and wrongly advised on how to protect yourself from those wolves even after saying the wolves would cause you no harm. And now, the next time we hear about a dangerous wolf, our understandable reaction will be to ignore the warnings. And people will die.

DeSantis is wrong. Fauci shouldn't be chucked across the Potomac. He should be thrown into Kilauea, though I suspect that Pele (the Hawaiian fire goddess, not the Brazilian soccer legend) would be so revolted she'd spit him out. Lava being much less of a threat to human life. Yet, when you read that penultimate paragraph from author Larry O'Connor, beyond public health institutions like the CDC, isn't that really the story of the FBI? DOJ? DHS? EPA? IRS? And so on and so on and scoobie-doobie-doobie?

Look at the links about the FBI, from the poor schlubs who were set up and taken down in that shameless Whitmer kidnapping entrapment swindle – and the judge in that case is a complete duplicitous scumbag for sabotaging the defense counsel's ability to properly defend his clients – and now the whistleblower allegations that the FBI knew as far back as the fall of 2019 that the Hunter Biden laptop was legit and ordered the agents involved not to touch it. Aside from the damning contents, how could they have known back then that "The Big Guy" was going to be the nominee when it was still a wide-open primary and Bernie Sanders was possibly going to run away with the nomination? But I digress.

We also have the story of the EPA doing an end run around the Supreme Court and declaring CO2, the essential compound of all plant life on earth and thereby all life on earth, as a pollutant that can be regulated. And that end run is found, appropriately enough, in . . . The Inflation Reduction Act. Thank you and fuck you, Joe Manchin. You just destroyed your state's economy, unless of course all the coal in West Virginia will be shipped off to Red China while we freeze and starve to death. Oh well, as Jennifer Granholm says "let them eat solar panels!"

Lastly on this subject, here's one that would otherwise slip under the radar. The DOJ just issued an edict requiring background checks for the sale of gun parts. Just the parts. Forgetting the nature of the edict itself, this was not a law that was debated in Congress by elected officials that you ostensibly voted for and then signed into law by the president, or the braindead kohlrabi installed in that office. This is an order that has the force of law if you do not comply. And to hell with playing catch me if you can by going to the courts and waiting several years hoping that the thing gets overturned. Even if it does, you still have evil, amoral tyrants like Kathy Hochul who will ignore the ruling.

Even in all this darkness, there are some bright spots. The school board elections in Florida, for one thing. Beyond DeSantis, there is another potentially huge bright spot in of all places Texas. I know that Greg Abbott has a checkered history but what he's doing vis a vis bussing the hordes of alien invaders to the places where "sanctuary" was declared (and now denied) is brilliant.

Also, his banishing Blackrock, a major player in the Global Reset mafia is to be cheered as well as emulated in as many places as possible.

Yet this story which is also flying under the radar could possibly have major ramifications:

Video surfaced recently of Texas National Guard personnel locking a gate on private land that has been used as an access point for illegal aliens to enter the United States. Border Patrol agents then arrived and unlocked the gate, allowing approximately 25 aliens to enter freely.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott was outraged, tweeting “Unbelievable. While Texas secures the border, the federal government is enabling illegal immigration. Biden’s open border policies created this. The federal government must do its job & fix it.”

Other than the fact that yet more noncitizens were allowed to violate U.S. immigration law, the incident took place without confrontation. Another incident of this kind may not end as well.

Border Patrol is part of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which operates under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which acts at the behest of the Biden White House. The Texas National Guard works for Abbott, an outspoken critic of Biden immigration policy who has been a thorn in the White House’s side by building border wall sections himself and very publicly bussing illegal aliens to Washington, D.C., and New York City.

This kind of situation can get ugly very quickly. The Texas National Guard stood down this time. What if next time National Guard personnel, tired of seeing their state overrun and violated, defy Border Patrol’s loose enforcement protocols and disregard for immigration law? The result could be a dangerous standoff between armed federal and state law enforcement officers.

It's all well and good that Governor Abbott was "outraged" and yet he allowed what is a rogue federal government to endanger the lives of not just Texans but in fact American citizens in general. Not that America as founded exists anymore. The actions of the CBP right there are proof positive, as if the Mar-a-Lago raid, stolen elections and all the rest since 2020 and before then aren't.

Can Abbott call up his National Guard to reinforce local authorities and politely suggest to the CBP to get off his lawn, so to speak? More to the point, will Abbott do something like that? I tend to doubt it but he has upped the ante in this confrontation with the junta and its allies like Eric Adams and Muriel Bowser. He has the political wind at his back in Texas and really across most of America with this issue. Recent polls show that Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants' open borders is viewed by a huge majority as an invasion.

This is potentially a huge flashpoint. It should be.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in the links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

...it is a good time to begin accepting that the United States as you knew and understood it is gone, and it can't be brought back through laws any more than the left can make EVs work. Even if Trump and Desantis have 12 years, that can't shape society. It can fix laws and bring justice to some people maybe, but half the country still wants to hack up kids and take your money to pay for little Suzy's Art History doctorate. That mentality can't change easily if ever. That's generational.

I don't know what is coming, but it's not good. And the politicians are playing for keeps to make sure we get there.

45 Student loan issue is really a big bailout to universities. It was, in part, loan problems that caused people to reconsider spending on " education". If gender studies or comparative French literature experiences a drop in demand, universities lose positions, lose administrative staff and income for salaries, junkets, and misc bullshit. The enrollment drops = income drops and they will fight it.

Now they've pulled back to "well yeah but he wasn't a pilot." Come on, that's pathetic. so is Tom Cruise guilty of "stolen valor" because he wasn't actually a navy pilot in real life? The conservative haters, especially the nevertrumpers, will come up with any excuse for hating anyone conservative who does anything except submit.

___________

IMO they've been doing this for a long time. Lobbyists write most of the laws that Congress pretends to legislate themselves. Now, under the junta you get these bureaucracies doing it without any sort of oversight by those we've elected. Your right... Congress is more or less obsolete now.

81 For those that believe the 2020 election was not fraudulent, please to explain why Pelosi had to ram through a new 25th amendment procedure the summer before the election. It was designed to remove the demented criminal, and put in place the chosen candidate. They knew at the time that the primary would be rigged to put him in, and that their chosen candidate would be put into the white house without a single American vote, after the general election was rigged. They just didn't count on the Biden crime family resisting.

82 10% student loan interest is usurious. Since you can’t discharge in bankruptcy, the loan is literally secured by the debtor’s life. The feds are the predatory lenders.

Make interest rates 2% and tax deductible. That would actually help far more people and not be a massive giveaway from the working class to the over-educated.

Look to Obamacare for your answer. They moaned and groaned, passed it, and it cost $10T or so.

Then 10 years later they moaned and groaned and insisted that they need to pass another multi-trillion dollar bill to fix healthcare that was fixed with Obamacare. This will be no different.

86 Fauci is worse than the boy who cried wolf. He's the boy who told fantastical tales about multiple wolves and wrongly advised on how to protect yourself from those wolves even after saying the wolves would cause you no harm. And now, the next time we hear about a dangerous wolf, our understandable reaction will be to ignore the warnings.
++++
I think it's slightly worse than that. "Fantastical tales?" No. They were lies. He's the boy who *lied* about the wolf. He's the boy who said there was a 25 foot long superwolf with razor teeth that could outrun a car, climb a tree or tunnel into your basement and had an unquenchable bloodlust. It turned out to be a mangy, aggressive, but likely non-fatal stray dog.

I used to think that the public health experts were usually pessimistic and wrong. Now I know that they're not - they're just lying. They have zero credibility. They can try to *enforce* responses to their warnings in the future, but they will find little appetite for voluntary cooperation. And yes, if it turns out that they're right for once (if they are, it is merely by accident), things will be worse for it and bodycounts will be higher.

154 Even if Abbott's bussing the illegals up north is just a pure stunt, the reaction it has engendered with the sanctuary city crowd is making average people take notice. Not necessarily of Abbott but of the hypocrisy from the Democrats on this.

I was one who mocked Abbott's original announcement, first because I thought it was just more Republican theater, when substantial things need doing at the border, and second, because I thought Democrat mayors in Washington and NYC would easily absorb bussed in migrants. After all, flights are arriving several times a week in White Plains, so some sort of government-paid process obviously exists already.

I was wrong on all counts. The thin-skinned mayors reacted harshly. It was wonderful. Keep it up!

They wanted people to know that they could place a dementia-suffering, cruel, racist, eye-bleeding, mumbling, inconsequential elderly man who didn't campaign at all - along with a cackling idiot VP candidate who came in 4th place in her own state in the presidential race - over the best performing president the country had seen in 100 years.

This is an inaccurate gloss of what the 2020 Democratic primary was.

The establishment could have hitched onto Biden early and ended things pretty quickly. They didn't. They first went with Kamala, then Warren, then Beto, then Buttigieg (who won Iowa!). They didn't want Biden, but he just simply didn't go away, stayed a second-tier candidate right around Bernie, and when it was obvious that Bernie was going to war of attrition his way to a victory against a crowded field, the Democrat establishment went with the only option available to them left: Biden.

Polling is coordinated with the uniparty, to try and shape opinion, and to match the fraudulent result. Luntz essentially admitted this in 2020. Their polling numbers are massaged to try and match the final numbers, assuming the fake ballots are counted.

Over the last week, they've suddenly gone all silly woketard with stuff like racist ranting how all white people's food is just bland glop covered in mayonnaise and the bland, stupid white people never use spices and if you eat white people food how it is so soul destroyingly bland.

Or, another gem about you can tell how black a black person is by how much pork they eat because pork is central to the black identity because pork was forced on them by racism but pork eating has been taken back and is now a proud part of the black identity.

Just mind-bogglingly stupid stuff of no use to anyone except the Masturbatory Dopamine Dose the lame-ass writers got from their Virtue Signaling.

I watched a magazine about making neat and challenging stuff - often with or for your kids - and coding to make things you created with wood and plastic do what you want in unexpected ways turned into "carry this in your backpack to throw at cops" and arts and crafts paint and fabric bullsh*t because not enough girls want to create weather stations from scratch.

I hate this timeline.

229 Get a load of this breathtaking dishonesty: “Parents’ rights” is Moms for Liberty’s rallying cry. But they don’t mean every right. They’re decidedly unconcerned about a parent’s right to ensure that their gender nonconforming child is safe at school, for instance, or that their immunocompromised child is protected from Covid. Rather, the Moms who are for Liberty have mobilized around parental concerns that are decidedly conservative. They want to excise lessons on systemic racism, LGBTQ-friendly books, accommodations for transgender students, and Covid mitigations like vaccine and mask mandates. They want to defend the Second Amendment rights that have allowed school shooters to obtain weapons. They work toward these goals with an unflagging spirit of good cheer"
and that is what your sceeching View-watching sister in law (or non-conforming familial entity or whatever) will believe without any skepticism.

I see a potential parallel with the British Empire in the late 1770s. No one could dare challenge the British navy. It was the greatest fleet in the world. No one would challenge until some farmers in the American colonies realized that the British couldn't send all of their ships, only some of them. Their numbers meant less when they could only send a fraction of the overall force.

236 Cities create insanity and liberals - in both cases literally.

I've watched this quite a bit. Like a lot of real life things, I think it's a variety of factors. Yep, you can take a "neutral" person, drop them in a city, and watch that urban lifestyle change that person over the years. I happen to live near a city that, because of two simultaneous policies of bussing and anexation, gave me the chance to watch exactly that.

But I've also come to believe that living in a city also displays a personal choice. I've met very few that lack the means to leave a city. I have, however, met thousands that chose not to. They accept the urban insanity in exchange for convenience. That tells me something about their priorities, which tells me quite a bit about them.

All of the defendants also submitted voter registration applications, which were approved by local election officials, ahead of the 2020 election, and several said they had received voter registration cards in the mail, which they took as a signal that they were eligible to vote.
The defendants are all charged with at least one count of false swearing on a voter registration application and voting as an unqualified elector, both third-degree felonies punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine. In order to get a conviction, prosecutors will have to prove the defendants knew they were ineligible when they registered and voted. They have yet to submit any evidence showing the defendants were explicitly warned their specific felonies barred them from voting.

Assuming the former is true (it isn't - white people generally ain't afraid of spice. Hell, they conquered the world to ensure access to it), why is it a bad thing? Is non-spiced food inherently inferior? Isn't this a racially-motivated argument that is dismissive of entire cultures due to ethnocentrism? Of course it is. That's sort of the point.

Second, pork is central to many Asian diets, too. Are Asians black? What about white folk who eat a lot of pork because it's cheap, nutritious and tasty (count me in!)? Are they black now, too? Or is it only pork-based soul food that's black? How racist is that?

268 Saint of the day:
St. Genesius of Rome (d. 303 AD) was the leader of a popular acting troupe during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. Genesius wrote plays to mock Christians and expose their rites to ridicule. To research for a play mocking baptism, he went to a priest pretending to desire the sacraments and was fully instructed as a catechumen. On performance day the Emperor was present. Genesius played the lead character seeking baptism as a farce. As the water was poured over Genesius' head by an actor, Genesius saw a vision of heaven and the hand of God touching him. At that moment Genesius' heart was changed by the Holy Spirit and he believed in the truth of Christianity. At the end of the play Genesius boldly declared his new faith. He implored the audience to follow Christ. The crowd thought this was part of the performance, but then understood it was real and Genesius was seized. The Emperor, furious, subjected him to cruel tortures to make him renounce his faith in Christ. He refused and was beheaded. The Christians collected him and buried him with the other martyrs. St. Genesius is the patron saint of comedians, dancers, actors, musicians, printers, and torture victims.

Since the current Presidency is now defined as totalitarian dictatorship, if installed in to that role, I would immediately declare that any and all federal employees are permanently disarmed. That includes every CID employee at IRS, all of the FBI/ATF/DHS/BLM et al. You can go play investigator all you want but when it comes to armed confrontations with We The People, you absolutely must get a warrant by a local judge and be accompanied by county/parish deputies.

Otherwise the federal employee can consider him/herself to be as authorized as a MS-13 gangbanger and treated as such.

It's just bad luck! The global elites didn't bring an end to the age of abundance. They didn't stand atop of a cornucopia of a world and start swinging their axes. Nobody *did* anything to foul everything up. It's just bad luck. It's the end of an era but nobody ended it. The lurching series of crises that escalate in their damage and danger aren't precipitated by the policies, rules, behaviors or other operations of the people in charge - they are just manifesting spontaneously. There is no compounding rot accumulating throughout a system due to anyone's actions or decisions, it's just "happening" for no reason at all.

358 What if next time National Guard personnel, tired of seeing their state overrun and violated, defy Border Patrol’s loose enforcement protocols and disregard for immigration law? Doing nothing is a violation of the Constitution. The Fed Govt does not get the option of picking what duties it is to perform. The US Constitution is written as a type of contract between the people and the govt, it grants certain authorities in exchange for certain duties. Failure to perform those duties is violation of the contract.

411 "The Fed Govt does not get the option of picking what duties it is to perform." Yes, it does. Who we elect (or "elect") to office matters. The Canadian border has been largely unsecured for its entire existence and no one objects.

For most of our history the Mexican border was mostly unsecured -- we would send an occasional cavalry patrol into Mexico to chase a bandido. The 30 million illegals, mostly from the south (although there are also millions of Asian and Africans) is a new development that should be addressed militarily, not with border patrol. Trump is the first president to make any attempt to deal with it realistically, although I would argue that what got done under the first Trump Administration was far too little.

435 Sundance loves DeSantis as he lives in FL as well. All he is doing is outlining the establishment preference. And, he didn't say DeSantis was silent as he mentioned the tweet.

I get that you guys don't dig Trump. Do you think an America First DeSantis is going to be tolerated? Liztard Cheney - the GOPe - already came out against that.

DeSantis is how far the establishment is willing to go to appeal to MAGA.

Sundance's critique of DeSantis is primarily based on economic policy (assuming he's the establishment candidate) -- the idea is that while DeSantis may fight on cultural issues, he won't impose Trump-style economic policy, particularly internationally (e.g. tariffs).

439 Video surfaced recently of Texas National Guard personnel locking a gate on private land that has been used as an access point for illegal aliens to enter the United States. Border Patrol agents then arrived and unlocked the gate

Okay. Unless there is a right in ingress and egress on that PRIVATE LAND, neither the state of Texas nor the Federal goverment have the RIGHT to be putting locks or removing locks to someones PERSONAL GATE

444 With regard to the CTH article, I believe the author was factually correct in saying that DeSantis tweeted once about the raid and then went silent on that subject for several days.

But what the author reads into that fact--concluding that DeSantis has been assimilated by the GOP establishment Borg, and is now the establishment's tool for thwarting a Trump return to the White House--is a huge stretch. There's any number of reasons why that could have happened, from the ordinary duties of his office, to the then-pending primary elections in which he was energetically supporting candidates.

I'm a Floridian, and I will admit that I was hoping he'd be more vocal on the raid, and was disappointed that he wasn't. But, again, drawing grand conclusions from that one tiny data point is a big stretch, and I'm not going to let that detract from what he's delivered in four superlative years as governor.

446 "But what the author reads into that fact--concluding that DeSantis has been assimilated by the GOP establishment Borg, and is now the establishment's tool"

I have been reading CTH for a longtime (actually on a recommendation from this site), and I will say that Sundance is right more often then he is wrong. And he is also right, way ahead of the mainstream conservative blogs. That said, I believe his argument is that DeSantis is being positioned by the GOPe as a spoiler to Trump. He is not independently wealthy, like Trump, and therefore needs the help of the "Club" for his Presidential asperations. And he has them! Therefore, it is only natural that they will exert some control over him. How much? That is to be determined. However, the evidence cited is more then just the one tweet (from a non-official Gov twitter account), but the marketing and ad production already underway. I don't want to dismiss DeSantis but the glory of Trump is that no one owns him, ever. That is an exceedingly rare quality in any Politician.

447 We also have the story of the EPA doing an end run around the Supreme Court

I respectfully disagree, JJ. If I recall correctly, the SCOTUS said that the EPA couldn't use the Clean Air Act to regulate CO2, because that wasn't the intent of Congress when it was passed. For CO2 to be regulated as a pollutant, Congress would have to authorize it, which they have now done.
