Good News: Red Wave in Florida Sweeps Leftist School Boards Out of Power

Jayne Zirkle
@JayneZirkle

School boards in Miami Dade, Duval, Sarasota, Martin, and Clay Counties have all flipped from majority liberal to majority conservative tonight.

Noted Liberal/Establishment Puppet Pretending to be a Conservative Ron DeSantis (or so I'm told) campaigned for conservative school board members, and it paid off.

desantisendorsements.jpg

Of the 30 candidates endorsed by DeSantis, 25 won their races. A few boards had the potential to flip from liberal to conservative, and flip they did. Sarasota County flipped their school board from a 3-2 liberal majority to a 4-1 conservative majority. The Miami Dade school board also flipped their majority from liberal to conservative, making them the largest county in America to boast a conservative school board.

Kyra Davis says this may be a harbinger for other school board races on the ballot in November, and I sure hope so, but... this doesn't just happen. It takes work. It also takes a push from political leaders, especially at the governor level.

Are other GOP governors pushing this issue? A lot of them seem pretty embarrassed by actual conservatives and would rather liberals just held on to power in every office.

BREAKING: All three of our endorsed candidates in Sarasota County, Florida have WON their elections.

We just flipped the school board from a 3-2 liberal majority to 4-1 conservative.

Congrats to Bridget Ziegler, Robyn Marinelli, and Timothy Enos.

11 Very good! Reshaping elected positions underneath you is as important as anything else. The federal Senate looks better than it did five years ago, but people with the diligence to turn school boards over consistently will also enjoy better outcomes at the state level.

Polling firms are graded by their last poll of an election season, not the dozen they did through the summer.

sorry to jump ugly. as for why he hasn't gone further, I mean... not everyone wants to talk about Trump 24/7. Personally, I find it a little exhausting. I talk about Trump as little as possible, but I have to talk about him a lot, even trying to keep it to the minimum.

A lot of people, both pro and con, just want to talk about Trump as if he's the only issue. Not everyone is so fascinated by Trump as that.

Woke school boards are the norm and it's almost universal. Not all of them are down with grooming yet, but they are all down with racial hatred and the grooming will follow shortly where it hasn't already arrived. It doesn't matter where you are or what the political bent of the area is, the school board (and the university) will be leftist.

203 Comparing 2010 with 2022 is a bit of apples and oranges. In 2008 Dems won a wave election and had 257 seats. Idaho had one of its two seats vote D, something that has not happened since and hadn’t happened in the previous 20 years. It was a once in a generation election.

So 2010 was bound to be a massive shift the other way as seats like tone in ID just went back to normal.

2020 was nothing like 2008. It was a small win by Dems. So 2022 will at best be a small win by Reps. There’s no 60 seat flip coming even if the reddest of red waves does happen.

People want to put DeSantis in that upper echelon because he makes the right noises and does so many of the right things.

But with higher office aspirations in front of him, anyone smart or crafty enough WILL do those things.

If Noem hadn't caved dramatically and then insulted the base she would still be in this "quality GOP" category if not upper echelon.

We are quick to elevate - "thirsty" to put it in common parlance - and then we get punched in the face and our wallet taken. In fact the only guy "we" were slow on the whole to elevate was Trump. May be a lesson there.

Looking at who's on staff is important for gauging future success. For instance, Amanda Carpenter used to be communications director for Ted Cruz.

270 Not much talk at DU about the FL school boards. There is talk about slavery, and slave labor in prisons.

Yes, slavery is on the ballot in some states More than 150 years after it was officially outlawed in the United States, slavery will be on the ballot in five states in November, as a new abolitionist movement seeks to reshape prison labor.

Voters in Alabama, Louisiana, Oregon, Tennessee and Vermont will decide on state constitutional amendments prohibiting slavery and involuntary servitude, in some cases except for work by incarcerated people. Advocates say the amendments are needed to strip antiquated language from state constitutions and to potentially transform the criminal justice system by making all work in prisons voluntary.

And, of course, the most DU response of all

It's on the ballot in nearly every state if you're a woman.

The conservative talking heads spout that money does not matter.. In races where McCarthy and McConnell need a seat to pad their grift money is matters. Bigly.

Bannon often says these MAGA candidates need people to work with and for them and he often says, outright, the MAGA candidates dont need your money.
All McCarthy and McConnell do is wait to see if a race is close enough --ie MAGA versus a Grifter-Cetified candidate, bomb the hell out of the MAGA candidate with negative ads at the last minute ---and stand back and count their victories.

Sabatini --a rock solid MAGA candidate--needed at least a few dollars at the end to fight off MCarthy's stooge who dumped 1+ million in last minute negative ads.

Milton Friedman had a great quote on this

I have often said we shall not correct the state of affairs by electing the right people; we've tried that. The right people before they're elected become the wrong people after they're elected. The important thing is to make it politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing. If it is not politically profitable for the wrong people to do the right thing, the right people will not do the right thing either.

333 Just an academic side-note to keep perspective.

"Conservative", for school boards, now means anyone *not* supporting outlandish, poisonous racist indoctrination, and bizarre toxic sexual-related indoctrination, role play, behavior, and "mainstreaming".

Just as on the national level, "conservative" now means a set of utterly mundane mainstream/normal/common sense/historically American things, including having borders and rule of law on immigration, not having national finances like those of 1984 Argentina, not embracing scientifically baseless totalitarian schemes hilariously posing as "environmental" emergencies, and not adopting crude and delusional racist and race-obsessed bigotries as normal and acceptable, and infusing public life and government with them.

390 Election Day? More like Erection Day.

Conservatives need to understand that we can't just sit back and pay attention to who controls the House, Senate and White House. That's like archers just hanging out on the ramparts, oblivious that the enemy is tunneling under the walls. We have to meet them in the tunnels as well and beat them. We don't need people to just vote for school board members, we need people to run for the office. Spectating is not enough, because the fascists will never stop.

423 Bengals, from what I understand, are on the wilder side for "domestic" cat breeds, right? Siberians, fortunately, are smart and oriented toward people. Of the 3 I've known well, 2 came from this breeder, and the 3rd, while growling at Linda and me whenever she was upset, still liked being around us.

I don't know that much about cats honestly! he's very dog like. very friendly. just super high energy! I love him but neither I nor my dogs can keep up with him. he bounces off of them it's hilarious. like instead of walking on the floor he bops off them, parkouring around the room.

Siberians are so lovely! I'd get a different breed if I knew it would be hypoallergenic for me. so far I'm still able to safely put my face on this guy
Posted by: BlackOrchid at August 24, 2022 01:21 PM (w0NJk)

Bengals are very high energy, yes.

I think the various claims of hypoallergenic cats are just nonsense, but there are some patterns of higher and lower concentrations of what is considered the active ingredient in the saliva. Females produce less than males in all breeds, and Siberians were shown to have a very low concentration compared to other breeds in both sexes.

Virtually all media coverage of campaigns, including of the Conservative TM news media like Breitbart, etc. is shit. Wait until maybe late September or October to actually pay attention.

Right now, I bet that less than 50 percent of actual PA voters know who Fetterman is or what he looks like. Over time, the deluge of adverts, flyers, etc. and news coverage will inform a certain percentage of these. Some will vote mainly off the D label, some will not vote, and some fraudulent votes will occur. Oz has probably a bit more recognition of who he is and what he looks like. So he is spending time retail campaigning which Fetterman apparently can't do. We should see results of this by late Sept., early Oct.

That's The Conservative Treehouse's line; that DeSantis will be playing the role that Cruz played in 2016. Controlled opposition.

Not sure if I buy it, but it is kind of like the Milton Friedman line that what we need is an environment in which politicians must act good, not that we need to find "good" politicians. If DeSantis is acting the way he is because he believes it is politically expedient rather than from the heart, I'd still call that a victory.
