From August 12: Republican Congressmen told the FBI they haven't trusted them since they lied and claiming the motive behind James Hodgekinson III's sniper attack on Republicans at the softball field in 2017 was just to be killed by cops -- "suicide by cop" -- despite his social media history of stating he hated Republicans and despite him carrying a list of Republican targets to murder.

Republican congressmen on Friday linked the lack of trust in the FBI following the raid on former President Donald Trump's home this week to the bureau's refusal for years to label the 2017 congressional baseball shooting as an act of domestic terrorism.

House Intelligence Committee Republicans held a press conference Friday morning, demanding Attorney General Merrick Garland and FBI Director Christopher Wray provide more details about the Trump raid. The congressmen connected their skepticism about the FBI's actions on Monday to the bureau's handling of the 2017 Virginia shooting that nearly killed Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) said the FBI was still withholding answers on that shooting.

"So, you want to know why the American people don't trust our institutions? It's things like this, because the decision they made defies logic," Wenstrup said, adding, "So, we want to know why, how, and by whom these mistakes were made. We need access to the case file to answer these questions, and the FBI has been unwilling to share the case file with us, which we have every right to see."

The FBI admitted in May 2021 that the Alexandria attack had been classified as "domestic terrorism" carried out by a "domestic violent extremist" targeting Republicans, after the bureau previously classified it as "suicide by cop."

"A heavily armed assassin -- clearly by his social media and the things he wrote was motivated politically. He hated Donald Trump. He wanted to kill Republicans. He had names of Republicans in his pocket," Wenstrup said.

From 2017 to 2021, the FBI refused to classify the attack as domestic terrorism.

...

Hodgkinson, an avid supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), was killed by law enforcement. He had posted on Facebook that "Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It's Time to Destroy Trump & Co." and joined other groups such as "Terminate The Republican Party." Hodgkinson had a potential "hit list" of six Republican members of Congress in his pocket.

"Despite all these facts, on November 16, 2017, FBI personnel came to those of us that were there and told us, 'We just surmise that this guy wanted to commit suicide by cop.' If your jaw doesn't drop with that assessment by the FBI, it should," Wenstrup said.

...

Rep. Trent Kelly (R-MS) also raised the issue of the attempted 2017 assassination on Friday.

"The baseball shooting over five years ago -- I was there," Kelly said. "The perpetrator is dead; however, to this day, the FBI continues to use cover-up and hiding and will not disclose the files."

And this is all because Obama installed a lot of leftwingers in the FBI with the mission of downplaying any leftwing (or Muslim) terrorism and really padding the stats of "rightwing"/Christian terrorism.

Jonathan S. Tobin at The Federalist writes about Mike Pence's fundamental unseriousness as a leader in once again attempting to sweep the problems of this corrupt, criminal organization under the carpet.

In the face of this partisan hijacking of the DOJ and the FBI, tame complaints about Garland aren't enough. Ultimately, no one in the bureau or DOJ was held accountable for the Russia hoax, something that undermined, perhaps fatally, confidence in the system. But for the same agencies to lead the country down the same kind of conspiratorial rabbit hole against the same political target is beyond the pale.

That's created the kind of threat to the republic that requires Republicans to treat this as an emergency, rather than just another in a list of problematic actions by the Biden administration.

This isn't about loyalty to Trump or whether Pence should have obeyed the president's unreasonable request about him overturning the Electoral College vote. Pence's compulsion to play the moderate conservative isn't new. His betrayal of conservatives over the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act in 2015 while he was governor, in order to play to acceptable liberal opinion, shouldn't be forgotten.

Defunding the FBI is an argument that will be easily misconstrued. But what conservatives need from those who aspire to lead them -- and Pence is acting as if he wants to run for president in 2024 -- is clarity and strength when it comes to confronting the administrative state. The Mar-a-Lago raid provided even more evidence that Trump is right to endorse a plan to fundamentally reform so-called "civil service" because of its proven partisan corruption. That would call for making at least 50,000 employees with policy decision-making power to be appointed by the president rather than act as a permanent, unelected, and unaccountable state within the state that assists Democrats and hinders Republicans, especially those like Trump or anyone like him who want to actually drain the D.C. swamp.

Pence's joining the chorus of leftist pundits carping at conservative critiques of the FBI isn't a matter of him not kowtowing to Trump. Rather, it is a sign that he can't be trusted to effectively fight the left and the deep state that is determined to label all those who push back against the Biden/Garland war on dissent as criminals or potential terrorists. This is more proof that he's someone who, though not lacking in personal virtue, doesn't know what time it is. Someone who is that clueless about this crisis can't lead Republicans in a struggle not so much to save Trump as it is to rescue the republic from the leftist war on wrongthink.

For Mike Pence and the other Unreasonably "Reasonable" Conservatives who either have forgotten or never bothered reading in the first place, Tristan Justice has compiled a list of the FBI's little "Oopsies" over the past six years.

He includes the Gretchen Whitmer Fednapping Plot, of course. Tucker talks about that in the second video below.

The second trial for that -- the first one ended in some acquittals and a mistrial, with those counts now being retried -- is now in the hands of a jury.

And fucking Mike Pence and the rest of these badge-and-holster-sniffing softcocks think this is just a matter of putting in a new AG?!?!

And this list doesn't even include the FBI framing people with faked tests at the FBI crime labs! Or, perhaps we should say: the FBI criminal labs.

At what point do you stop being "Reasonable" and simply become a coward and a quisling?

Strozk referred to an insurance policy and it is my belief he meant Pence as a means to keep Trump in check. Pence showed his colors as governor of Indiana when he caved to the mob against a state RFRA. He also did nothing to support that poor Memories Pizza persecution.

Pence's team as VP was also a center of resistance in areas of defense and nat sec policy and arguably fed Trump's first impeachment.

Simple, really.

The FBI continues to demand Americans trust them, while simultaneously lying to the American public.

And, yet, the FBI is puzzled as to why people think they need to go away as a law enforcement agency.

80 Sam Harris is an intellectual, so he must have been using the word "literally" correctly. If a Gen Z person tells you he is literally dead, he means "figuratively dead." If Sam Harris says he literally wouldn't care if Hunter Biden had the corpses of children in his basement, I believe him.
Posted by: mr_jack at August 22, 2022 06:25 PM (57l0O)

absolutely. Harris believes child murder is well down on the scale of possible offenses that can easily be overlooked. I'd take a look at missing persons lists in areas where he has lived.

The Las Vegas shootings were literally a terroristic slaughterhouse of US citizens, and the FBI is like-

Feebs or the Clowns were probably using the guy as an informant.

The guy that did it hung around casinos and gambled a bunch with no obvious sources of income. Then he all of a sudden bought buttloads of guns and ammo on the downlow. His father was a killer and robber in prison if I remember correctly and the murder clown himself was a former IRS agent a couple of decades ago. His girlfriend had ties to the Moros in the PI.

A few have tied it in with the Saudi royal family struggle over who would be Crown Prince. The faction of bin Talal lost (that faction also had ties to the Saudis doing 9/11 via Prince Bandar--SA ambassador to the US and close Bush friend). Supposedly it was supposed to be a hit on the Crown Prince of SA with the massacre as a cover. Dunno about that but the King and Crown Prince shortly imprisoned a bunch of Saudi princes and richies in that hotel and lightened their assets significantly. BTW, bin Talal was a big investor in Fox networks which obviously colored their coverage of the GWOT.

He didn't pay attention apparently when Obama took office and fired everyone who didn't genuflect to him and agree to do his bidding.

Trump or DeSantis needs to follow suit when they take back the presidency. Fire every single one. We know they'll be sued and people will say it's fascism, since they did when Bush fired lawyers but were okay when Obama did the same, but screw'em.

They also need to make sure the fired leaders and agents don't take or destroy documents, or plant new evidence. And then they need to have their own new DoJ, FBI, etc start investigating them, since you know the ousted workers will start trying to undermine the new presidency.

Which was a reasonable assumption. Even under Bush, who they all considered Hitler Cubed, they more or less did what he said. They leaked and whined and he had to can some people, but they followed orders.

Under Trump the Pentagon just refused to follow orders. Refused. Flat out zero compliance.

372 If you believe Trafalgar's latest polling it's a 5 point race right now and Dave thinks it's closer. Being a Senator isn't that tough a job. Idiots like Biden and Hirono prove that. You want to see a really bad candidate that would be Feterman but Dems have a lot of those.
Posted by: JackStraw at August 22, 2022 07:05 PM (ZLI7S)

Yup. The interesting part is that people see obvious fraud in an environment much more hostile to Biden compared to his razor thin wins and say "wow, the candidates are stupid." The Republican has to be the second coming of the son of Ronald Reagan and Mags Thatcher while the Democrat can be any invalid paste-eater.

But I am grateful for it. When it becomes obvious that the voting machines aren't connected to anything- Biden can't afford a heavily GOP Senate/ House without falling under real pressure- the true solutions will start popping up everywhere. The Democrats taking a huge L would relieve that pressure: the coming collapse of Europe will make it skyrocket.

No. If you have an AR pistol (with or without the of dubious legal standing "brace") then no. Otherwise, it would be termed as a so-called short-barrel rifle (i.e., with a butt stock), which can be had legally via a tax stamp and registration, or illegally by anyone willing to run afoul of federal firearms laws, or in that quasi-legal realm of working as a LE asset, federal or otherwise.

Yes, but it's also cost them terribly. The patriot wing of the GOP was critical to public support of any American war effort. That's severely eroded now for any Democrat in office. More, thanks to Jeff Epstein we now have a concrete reason for why the Deep State and Wall Street came together, likely at the behest of certain foreign governments, to launch a coup in America. Or "force" Trump to launch a coup, then turn around on him to establish a military dictatorship.

Before heavy distrust of the deep state made you Timothy McVeigh. Now it's overwhelmingly mainstream in the Republican Party, to the point that Mike Castle cucks are regularly rejected by the base.

If it's not on the childhood schedule, the normal immunity protections for regular vaccines don't apply. They'd be liable for everything. So they won't do it.

They have blanket immunity for everything under the EUA for those products. We came up with a crazy Catch-22 where they needed it to be both approved, and not approved at the same time. And this is how they're pulling that scam.

Everyone everywhere knew the GOP wasn't going to followthrough on what they promised because they never, ever do with the single exception of the Contract With America congress.

That has NOTHING to do with the topic at hand, and I strongly suspect you know it. That has nothing to do with how corrupted and bent the bureaucracy had gotten and how Trump revealed it to be. Nothing at all. Not only is it a separate branch of government, but that has nothing to do with what everyone refers to as the "swamp."

The likelihood is that AZ GOP has been playing games with voting in that state for some time and the obvious place for it would be Maricopa County. Brnovich paid the price for doing nothing whatsoever to remedy the situation which pissed off a fair chunk of primary voters. Probably GOPe promised him or threatened him but when faced with a challenge, he cucked out. The other was a Dem in Republican drag sugar baby of an old wealthy coot. So Masters it was. 446 Gas is 4.46 a gallon for regular here. I'm glad you think that's cheap. There are a lot of folks that are trying to figure out how to buy gas to get to work and also afford to put food on the table. And food banks are running out of food.

Meanwhile, we have people insisting there is not a recession because employment numbers are still good, without considering that employment is a lagging indicator. please come back and tell me how wonderful it is, when people start losing their jobs in the next couple of months.

A confession, I used to be involved in politics on team Donkey way back in the early 80's and 90's before I decided to go away. Clinton was my demarcation point because as a former Arkansan, I knew personally how the two of them were going to be very destructive to the US and that both of them were personally corrupt. From what I know and my professional training academically, Dave in Fla is the guy I would pay attention to on this blog. Sean Trende is another guy or Michael Barone are others that can be useful to crosscheck information.

Trump's nominee was the one that cut Epstein loose when he was a Florida prosecutor.

Epsteins "suicide" happened on Trump's watch.

Flight logs and pilot testimony have shown Trump flew with Epstein.

Do I think Trump is a pedo? No, that's silly. But be careful throwing that Epstein nonsense around because Trump has some of that stank on him.

This isn't cold watching Breaking Bad, douche. No one believes that Hank Schrader is a drug lord just because of a murderous conspiracy against multiple witnesses and a cynical confession from a murderer. In fact, watching you try to minimize Epstein by mindlessly smearing Trump reinforces the notion of how corrupting that particular foreign-sponsored operation was to the deep state. You're on the outside now. A fake doomed to be tossed out with the rest of the trash.

Ducey's 1st term as Governor in 2014, he won 53-41.

2018 was a TERRIBLE year for Republicans and he won again by 15%.

470 Blago, 47 percent did not vote for Ducey. Garcia was a patsy candidate with little funding.

I have suspicions why Trump did not do well in AZ and it has to do with border security. Flake as senator admitted as much that he and the old hands in AZ wanted an open border and Flake admitted his family hired illegals. Then, there is the money laundering for the drug trade, and human trafficking. See the same thing in some other states.

It never stopped that as far as I saw. I guess Ace must be sitting pretty to allow that to go on for as long as he has.

What you have to do is get to the Comments link and load that. Of course, you may have to do a lot of scrolling to get to the one you want, all the while it is constantly reloading and eventually craps out! I suggest posters keep the distance to the "Read More" link fairly short, so we long suffering readers only have to try a half dozen times to get to the Comments link. It's not like we have anything better to do on the other hand...
