The area has had 40 years of that. The results (= zero) are obvious even when you drive through it on the Interstate.

The building where the Target might go was a Lowe's until about 4 years ago. And in 1974, I remember the vigorous Plaza at Lake Forest Mall, which became my shining image of what the shopping district in Heinlein's Luna City would look like. That mall has been gone since before Katrina hit.

Local areas are still whining about the destruction from that and from Ida, which was a year ago. Jeez.

My nephew and his wife have tried to have a baby. She suffered 2 miscarriages. This was all before Kovid and the jabs. They kept on trying and this may were blessed with a beautiful baby boy.

Wyoming allows anyone to switch parties up until the day before the primary, pretty sure a metric a$$ ton of democrats switched parties to vote for the lizard because there were only 4,500 votes in the democrat primary versus 113,000 on the republican side. That's extremely lopsided even in Wyoming.

Posted by: longfalcon at August 17, 2022 08:50 AM (xoN8A)

170 >Is it any worse than Java?

There's some truth to the notion that .NET is just Microsoft making their own Java when Java told them they couldn't call their Java Java. .NET has been copying other languages for long enough, and been overseen by sensible enough people, that it's actually a pretty solid general purpose language. As much as Microsoft's pursuit of the Stallmanites is a boneheaded strategy, the .NET Core rewrite did allow them to jettison ten years of legacy crap on the compile/deploy side. I have a number of senior developer friends who prefer it to most other languages now.

>still better than python and php

That's...not a high bar.

171 >DotNET 6 is now in Ubuntu 22.04.

My real beef is that it's in Ubuntu, which has to be the *least* sensible choice for an enterprise server platform. Even granted that this is all about making it easier to create containerized .NET apps, just compiling to a single executable and using 'FROM scratch' as the first line of your Dockerfile is the right approach.

In Lincoln's day the Dems were the majority and only a few districts could a GOP guy win. Therefore it was customary to rotate the up and comers in the party through those districts to get them national experience rather than have one man monopolize it.
