Ric Grenell: I Told Trump He Had to Fire the Criminal Wray Two Years Ago

A fox overseeing the fox-house.

Former acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell is warning that the FBI is facing a "real crisis" from partisan tampering with investigations, revealing he actually urged then-President Donald Trump to fire Director Chris Wray back in 2020 when such concerns first became obvious.

"I told President Trump we got to get rid of him," Grenell said Monday in an interview with Just the News on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "[Wray] was terrible. First of all, he didn't understand what was happening. He was so aloof to what was happening down below and had just a knee jerk reaction to everything just to protect the status quo."

Grenell made the comments just hours before Trump announced Monday the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago home and office in Florida, cracking a safe and removing documents in an apparent probe into suspected missing classified documents.

Grenell, who also served as U.S. ambassador to Germany, said the reasons he urged Wray's dismissal two years ago were rooted in his inability to see politics ruining the storied law enforcement agency"

"He's a creature of the FBI," Grenell said. "And he views everything as a PR exercise. Don't criticize the FBI. Don't talk about any failures at the FBI because he loves the brand. And it was a brand exercise."

...

Grenell described an episode in spring 2020 when he was acting DNI and was trying to declassify documents about FBI misconduct in the Russia collusion probe and its pursuit of former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, and there "was a lot of pushback."

He said FBI leaders told him frontline agents adamantly didn't want the memos declassified and released to the public because they would reveal investigative sources and methods.

"I said I'd like to talk to these FBI agents who actually redacted this information," he recalled. "And oh, boy, they did not want me to. But I did. I pushed through, and because I had the position, I was able to do it. I said, 'You know look, I'm about to release this information. But I'm asking you to tell me. If this is really a source or a method, point it to me. What am I missing here?'

"Did you know, John, that the FBI rank and file agents who did that said to me, 'We agree with you. We didn't redact this. Our bosses did.' And it was so obvious to me that there was a political manipulation from up top."

When the FBI is reconfigured and split into multiple smaller agencies with more focused missions -- and the bureau loses its monolithic power -- the head of each of the new smaller agencies must come from outside the FBI culture and be skeptical of the old FBI -- preferably, antagonistic towards the old FBI -- and not "Company Men" like this soft chubby smug Criminal Wray.

Obviously, we will also need to move the DOJ to a red state and red district, so that federal prosecutions will be made up of red juries. There is absolutely no law stating that the working offices of the DOJ must be located in Washington, DC. There has to be some staff there, I guess, because the AG is part of the president's cabinet. (But does even that require him to be in DC?)

But all DOJ operations should be removed to, I don't know.

Pensacola, maybe.

I don't even know-- what's a city with 100,000 or more people that leans red?

We need a Federal Internal Affairs department.

25 Grenell is right Wray should have been fired, but really off base about Wray, in general.

Wray needed to be fired because he is a partisan hack who encouraged the politicization of the FBI.

Or, he was bought off to ignore what was going on.

we wouldn't want to fire them at first because you can only compel them to participate in non-criminal investigations (like IG investigations) if they're employees.

But they can be rubber-roomed during that period. Then fired.

46 Whether you moved DOJ's Main Justice, the federal trials would still mostly be in DC in that district b/c that's where the White House, Capitol, Supreme Court, and executive offices are - aka, all the other fed gov people work there, and crimes are prosecuted where they are committed.

Better is to eliminate the DC district entirely, except for cases involving DC residents (aka local crimes). Put up all crimes committed by federal employees or employee-adjacents to a random draw for a court. And any crimes committed by tourists or non-DC residents to the same.

Posted by: garrett

++++
We need a lot more. Defund and close *all* current federal LE and IC agencies and departments within agencies. 100% of them. Gone. Goodbye. The FBI and the Secret Service and Marshals, yes, but also every enforcement arm of every agency. Then, replace the whole thing with six new agencies:
1. Federal law enforcement. Interstate crime *only* with no adjuncts
2. Presidential protection, no other mandate
3. Foreign intelligence (wide mandate, lots of rope)
4. Military intelligence (wide mandate, military-only, no exceptions)
5. Domestic intelligence (narrow mandate, short leash, lots of process control)
6. Internal affairs that police *all* of the other five.

The last should be staffed with state and local LE and at least 60% non-government. No cross-pollination between the other five and the new IA agency. Pay all agents modest base wages and then a bounty-based bonus scheme. The more they identify and punish, the more they get paid. 93 Don’t disband the FBI. Decapitate the leadership by assigning them to different embassies far from Washington DC. Or decapitate by...

Replace the FBI. Reassign it. My suggestion is solving the 5,000 disappearances of Native American and Eskimo Women and Children every year. Assign every agent to live on an Indian Reservation. Move the FBI HQ to Tulsa OK or Fairbanks AK, far from DC. Stop any FBI hiring, and let it slowly die off in the next 20 years.

This idiotic "brand loyalty" nonsense, which is the nothing more than unserious, mediocre, unqualified people being put in positions of responsibility who have no idea what their real responsibilities are. I saw it at various levels years ago.

I've said here before, Wray's press event following the first, inverse-bombshell Horowitz IG report was one of the most amazing and outrageous spectacles of recent times (which is saying something). Morale is great! Recruitment is fine! Tons of applications for our intern program! Unbelievable.

Of course it fairly quickly became clear he was an unserious non-entity, like most Beltway bigs these days, just a seat-warming drone who is a cultural product of the collapsed or mediocre institution he know heads.

We need to weaponize the Inspectors General against the bureaucrats. Make the IGs a cabinet-level department. Mandate IG employees have no employment in other federal departments before or after IG service. Require the IG department to have headquarters at least 100 miles outside of DC. Give them full power to subpoena and prosecute federal employees and contractors; limit their prosecution of non-employees to crimes involving feds like bribery.

And make all promotion and compensation decisions solely based on obtaining convictions of federal employees.

If all those ham-and-egg men are good and righteous, but it's just that their *bosses* are corrupt and sinister, then where are the whistle-blowers disclosing that? If they're good and righteous, they'd raise the alarm, yes? These guys Grennel claims to have interviewed, at least one of them would have mentioned it, right?

127 There is no need for the FBI.

We have the CIA for spying.

We have state and local LE for prosecution.

We have secret service for protection.

We have the military for defense, both foreign and domestic.

DOJ can work with local law enforcement if there are ever state-to-state or truly federal crimes. They can work with other departments if there are civil actions.

The country worked a long time with that set up. It can work again.

I forget where I read this, maybe here. Socialism, which is supposed to make everyone equal in outcome, does not agree with human nature. Someone has to decide on how to "redistribute" the wealth, as no one hands his property willingly to the state. Well, once you have a person or committee redistributing, they by default become more powerful than the rest of society -- thus contradicting the essential principle of socialism. QED.

198 Ari Fleischer @AriFleischer; 6h
Here’s why the FBI raid - absent a finding that puts former President Trump behind bars - is so damaging:
1) Most governmental institutions are already not trusted by the American people. This raid contributes to mistrust of the FBI.
2) It leads to mistrust of DoJ/the courts. Remember, 2 of the 4 court-approved warrants again Carter Page were found to be invalid.
3) Trump has been subject to numerous probes, all of which turned out empty. If the FBI didn’t find the goods yesterday, add this to the list.
4) Did the DoJ really need to go to this length to enforce the Presidential Paperwork Act? Government lawyers and Trump lawyers couldn’t figure this out? DoJ really had to resort to a raid?
5) FBI didn’t raid Hillary’s home 2search for her server. They didn’t raid the DNC to get the server the Russians hacked. They didn’t raid Clinton NSC Advisor Sandy Berger’s home to see if he had additional smuggled classified materiel. Why is Trump held to a different standard?

Posted by: andycanuck (yikp0) at August 09, 2022 05:05 PM (yikp0)

199 Ari cont.
6) The Biden WH knows that many Americans won’t believe Biden didn’t know about this or approve it - even if he didn’t know. I suspect this is a headache the Biden WH didn’t want.
7) A precedent has been set. Former Presidents, while not above the law, can now have their homes raided by successor administrations. There’s no telling where that will lead.
Bottom line: FBI better have found smoking gun evidence of crime. If not, this raid should not have been approved & will backfire into a boost for Trump and a further erosion of trust in vital governmental organizations.

You mean propaganda ground in for generations.
In the 1890's the Republican party moved to embrace the better pickings of the North East and West, and left the blacks in the South as uninteresting.
The Dems then labored to attract them through banking and monetary policy, expanding the money supply by increasing the value of silver against Gold for one, and banking changes, to give a reason to go to the Democrat party

And once they were attracted, the progressive wing hammered them down as second class citizens again.

Try pulling in your horns, no one really cares. I hated it when people tried to intimidate me in a phone call. It was embarrassing to listen to.

As constructed, the FBI cannot exist. If personnel, even if it's the hypothetical tiny sliver of leadership at the top, perform as corruptly as we observe, then its authority is illegitimate. Institutionally, it is drenched in abuse. And if it takes but a handful of leaders - I don't think it's just a handful anymore, but let's move on - to corrupt the entire agency, then it's constructed with fatal flaws and must be eliminated.

I think by now most agree this idiotic raid is backfiring on the left bigly. The FBI is a political organization no matter what they say and it should have been obvious that this would reflect poorly on them and make Trump a sympathetic character.

Maybe the FBI/DOJ thought they had to because of what those documents show. Paul Sperry said on twitter they related to Spygate and then was instantly banned on twitter.

The FBI/DOJ's actions are so over the top it makes no sense that this is just about dirtying up Trump. They are scared.

Christopher, it was also a major monetary expansion period due to railroad bonds issued by the FedGov and Treasury acts to increase the redemption price of silver against gold, acting as an inflationary pressure, driving a business cycle bubble. There were also market distortions created by tariffs to protect US industries. The late Guilded age was also plagued with panics, which we call bubble collapses and depressions.
Smaller government and regulation load to be sure, but also business cycles whipsawing things around

299 The Republicans in the HoR have promised serious inquiries will be made after the Red Wave crashes over D.C. in November.

Call me an optimist, if you must, but I believe that these serious inquiries, when conducted by a wartime general like Kevin McCarthy, will put a halt to these types of oversteps. Lifelong rank and file members of the three letter agencies will be forced to confront the gravity of their actions and will almost certainly straighten up and quit using their positions as politically weaponized platforms.

House Leader McCarthy will bring them to heel and we will see a self-restraint by the DOJ, FBI, CIA and NSA heretofore never seen. For if they don't, they know Senator Cruz will issue scathing remarks and completely own them in Senate hearings.

That is why I am enthusiastically rushing to the polls in November to bring about a mighty Red Tsunami. They will restore this nation to its former glory! They are men of integrity and valor! Long live the GOP!

I think they likely do pertain to a nexus between the Epstein blackmail ring and Russiagate. I'm confident now that Barr's fat ass was to serve as a sweeper, much as he did when the FBI sniper Horiuichi murdered the little Weaver kid.

Is there any doubt Mossad, the American IC, and MI6 (and likely Italy and Austrailia) were having underaged girls get it on with key folks to blackmail them? Sealing the Epstein client list was the tell. And let's face it, Wray and Comey look like kiddie diddlers themselves.

338 The culture of the FBI is too rotten to be saved. It must be disestablished, and any employee above GS-11 prohibited from working for the new agency.

The way to get the corner office was to ignore the law and curry favor with the political patrons. That culture is too strong, you can't stamp it out. You need to build a new agency from scratch with an ethical code that is rigorously and uniformly enforced.

Sandy Berger. At the National archives. They said they were "duplicate documents," except they were the originals with Bill Clinton's handwritten notes. Which are now safely destroyed and cannot embarrass the Clintons.

Why they give people the originals and not copies or photographs of the originals? I guess the special people get special privileges. If us peasants asked to review them? We would be laughed at and sent on our way.

I have a theory of synesthesia, some words and patterns have a "flavor" to them.
When the fetus is developing the neural tissue it appears (some reading I have don indicates) that there aren't actual blocks devoted to ID color, or sounds or sensations, the areas tend to interconnect and to some degree interpenetrate. My blue sky theory is that in synesthesia the areas touching tend to "leak" so a visual indicator is given to an audio input.

A lot of evidence on social media that this is upsetting and concerning normally apolitical people. Many people you would not expect to are condemning this. The GOP seems to be so upset by this they are willing to meet with and work with Trump now. Leftists are out on the internet trying desperately to get people to stop calling this a "raid". The news media is downplaying it.

Its too early and sketchy to tell, but the pattern has long been established that Americans may dislike a president but if someone does something to them, voters become very upset.

391 Yeah the train thing I kind of understand because it was desperately needed but had no real funding? But monetary policy was pretty bad back then. The government went bankrupt several times and had to be bailed out by JP Morgan. Not his company, JP himself.

Bimetalism is poison for a hard currency regime, as Louis Napoleon III found out too.
When your spot price for silver is one buck a troy ounce and Gold is at 16, declaring it at $20 is inflationary and drives greater mining for silver, and silver redemption, which is not good when all the other countries outside of China deal only in Gold.

But this drives inflation because it creates money without any effective value to support it, and though the hard currency is not like fiat, it still causes both a Cantillon effect for the banks, and a business cycle because it messes up pricing signals for the market and banking and encourages long term and capital investing even though there is not a real market for the items, just "free money".

Sorry, sperging here

392 "Operation Mar A Lago" might be Wray fighting back a bit against Big D. Lots of lefties bitching that FBI hasn't been aggressive enough re DJT. Wray may have launched the raid as a response. "Fine. You want it, you got it. Not much there, so stand by for the bullshit, and leave me the fuck alone." Strong bureaucratic power move, if so.

393 117 The way Ric describes Wray rings very very true and is a long-standing, disastrous trend in the Beltway. This idiotic "brand loyalty" nonsense, which is the nothing more than unserious, mediocre, unqualified people being put in positions of responsibility who have no idea what their real responsibilities are. I saw it at various levels years ago.

These people don't know what "Public Service" means. They think it means perks and pensions, politicking and glad-handing. Pushing the peasants around. Apparently also, for some, great hairstyles.

That's why I would crawl over broken glass to vote for someone who will follow through on dispersing these agencies all across the country. No main office allowed in DC or environs.

Unintended consequence though, where would all these power hungry pricks go if they can't get the coveted DC office?

396 And, on the other hand, the three harpies are not evidence of anything.

They have their little tag team of constant revisionist allegations that they just know, just feel, can just revise under oath statements at will as part of their "prep."
It's ridiculous.

I hope after the one gets tossed off of tv in good while, she and the other 2 are relegated to jobs in windowless little rooms with lousy laptops and poor wifi connections.

Aside from that, I had a boss who let me hang for days in grueling depositions and then it was finally her turn. She opens a paper bag and begins removing bottle after bottle of medication, names each for the record & also states why she's taking each (stress, panic attacks, etc.) She then asks for the "deposition" to be sealed & it was. That was it in as far as her testimony. I learned a valuable lesson that day.

That was decades ago. She's still drawing managerial pay - though she's never been permitted to manage again - and she's continuing to work from home - for decades.

397 Posted earlier: there are two parts to the left, DeepState and the Democrat party. Generally they work in concert. But, like Wray, DeepState has a tin ear. This was a tin ear DeepState raid and the Party is unhappy. Posted by: Braenyard at August 09, 2022 05:22 PM (WzJXd)

Three parts: You forgot the Revolution. The Revolution uses the Democrat Party as a front group and the Deep State will pivot to work with the Revolution if it ever takes power, like the Tsar's secret police did, but the Revolution has its own goals.

and a big difference, Trump innocent having FBI fabricating "evidence", while Hillary/Biden have tons of evidence ignored and even covered up or destroyed.

It is not just them going after one side and not the other, it is them attacking the innocent, protecting the guilty.

But sure, those parents that didn't like their daughter being raped, that complained to a school board, they deserved an FBI visit (and the lawyer fees?). The doctor woman that police waved into the White House, where she did no damage, deserves her two months in (bad) prison.

EPA keeps one job - managing Superfund site cleanups. I worked on Superfund for several years. It's necessary.
Posted by: redchief at August 09, 2022 05:07 PM (LU/A2)

No, kill it. You can't reform an agency that has totally forgotten its function. Make a new agency for superfund cleanup with a narrow and take anyone in the EPA that is doing the cleanup to run it. Fire everyone else.

If you keep the EPA, give it one job they will fire all the Superfund cleanup and keep the criminal and incompetent upper management.

I'm curious as to where the whistleblowers are? Are they all compromised? worried about their pension? This tells me they either don't have skills that are very marketable in the private sector or the angency/s involved would ruin them and everyone they know.
