Twitter permits radical congresswoman Jayapal to push the race-hatred disinformation that Michael Brown was "murdered" without being forced to delete it, and without a "disinformation" warning -- despite the fact that this racist lie provoked riots and murders, and an attempted assassination of the innocent policeman forced to kill Brown in self-defense.

liesthattwitterpermits.jpg

I reported her to Twitter. I suggest everyone else do likewise.

We need to begin building a case for why s.230 needs to be revoked for the social media monopolies.

And when Twitter permits this lying whore to spread racially-toxic lies without penalty while speech-patrolling every conservative within an inch of his life -- that's proof they are not "moderating" speech "in good faith," as the Communications Decency Act requires, but that they are acting as publishers pushing an editorial line and are not entitled to immunity to lawsuit.

The Jeffrey Epstein Lawyer should have recused himself -- but instead jumped at the chance to sign a warrant to get Trump:

In a status (emphasis added and archived here for posterity) sharing a Dan Rather post taking issue with President Trump's tweets, Reinhart popped off and quoted degenerate Clinton administration official Robert Reich:

I generally ignore the President-elect's tweets, but not this one. John Lewis arguably has done more to "make America great" than any living citizen. Last August, I took my son to the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma so he could understand the kind of courage and sacrifice required to live in a democratic society. John Lewis embodies that spirit. Although I've never met him, he is one of my heroes.

Thank you, Robert Reich, for saying what many of us feel, "John Lewis is the conscience of America. Donald Trump doesn't have the moral stature to kiss John Lewis's feet."

Or, as Joseph Welch said to Joseph McCarthy, "At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"

In related news, Jeff Sessions recused himself from overseeing anything having to do with Russia because he once met, as a Senator, with a Russian Ambassador, while Merrick Garland continues insisting he should be the overseeing prosecutor of his boss's son's investigation.

And of his boss's political opponent.

NeverTrump demanded special prosecutors for Trump -- but the demand none for Hunter Biden, and demand none for Trump now. That is, they refuse to call for an independent and politically-neutral prosecutor to take this matter out of the hands of sleazy partisans like Joe Biden and Merrick Garland.

Regime flack is asked -- why do you claim Biden has nothing to do with skyrocketing gas prices, and then when they fall ten cents, you claim Biden should get the credit?

From last week: Paul Krugman claims he overheard a butcher in the supermarket saying that beef prices aren't going up.

Paul Krugman

Paul Krugman is not a scientist; he's a political hack. If he were a scientist, he wouldn't pass off an anecdote as data. (An anecdote he almost certainly made up, of course!)

It would have been easy enough to look up the actual data, of course.

But Kruguman didn't want the actual data -- he wanted to make up an anecdon't (see what I did there, I'm a fucking genius like Walt Disney or Tesla) and put it in the mouth of a safely anonymous, and purely fictional, butcher.

Via Instapundit, Domino's exits the pizza market in Italy. I don't know how good the pizza is in Italy and I suspect a lot of the people laughing don't know, either. I do know that what we think of as pizza is an Italian-American dish, not Italian. "Pizza" in Naples used to be flattend dough fried in oil and dipped in a little sauce with dry cheese like parmesan sprinkled on it.

Sophia Loren serves it up, there, in L'Oro di Napoli. *

Sounds tasty -- the pizza fritta, I mean -- but that's obviously not what we've come to know as "pizza."

So I have no idea if Italian pizza is good or not.

Here's something you wouldn't expect: Coffee in Paris was bad until... Starbucks came. Paris cafes were for sitting and smoking and people-watching, not for quality coffee. They had old machines and prepared it indifferently. But Starbucks forced the country to up its coffee quality.

Anyway, that's why I'm not necessarily laughing at the idea that an American pizza company could make a splash in Italy. Even Domino's. (They offered a different "authentic" recipe in Italy.)

Domino's Pizza Inc.'s footprint in the home of Pizza proved to be short lived with Italians favoring local restaurants over the American version.

The last of Domino's 29 branches have closed after the company started operations in the country seven years ago. It borrowed heavily for plans to open 880 stores, but faced tough competition from local restaurants expanding delivery services during the pandemic and sought protection from creditors after running out of cash and falling behind on its debt obligations.

The US chain entered Italy in 2015 through a franchising agreement with ePizza SpA and planned to distinguish itself by providing a structured national delivery service along with American-style toppings including pineapple.

Okay 880 stores sounds like a lot, man. And I don't know if delivery is as big a thing in Europe, where it's easier to get around.

And come on, pineapple is a gimmick, not a mainstay.

@MZHemingway

Only in a tinpot, third world dictatorship does a sitting president of one party use law enforcement to attack a former president and potential 2024 candidate.

A decorated veteran friend of mine says, "I am literally ashamed ever to have served this nation."

I wonder if she means Noted Warfighter David French.

Pedro L. Gonzalez

@emeriticus

It's difficult for the right to hear this but it's true and more people need to accept it. The country you are patriotic about is gone. The thing that took its place is shameful and deserves to be destroyed. You're going to have to rebuild something to be proud of.

From July 4:

100-year-old World War Two veteran Carl Spurlin Dekel shared his emotional outlook on the US today:

"I've lived a good life. I've had a lot of love and happiness. Smiling, telling everybody that everything was beautiful every day. If I went into my church and didn't think everything was beautiful they would think that I was sick. I'm not that way. I sincerely believe in this whole world that everything is beautiful. If I wake up in the morning and see these plants out here and all those flowers that are in there and green grass on the ground that's beautiful. People don't realize what they have. They bitch about it.

Nowadays I am so upset that the things we did, the things we fought for, and the boys that died for it are all going down the drain. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket. We haven't got the country we had when I was raised, not at all. Nobody will have the fun I had. Nobody will have the opportunity I had. It's just not the same. That's not what they died for. Just not it...It's just not the same. This isn't what we fought for."

Here's a nice story.

well that is the argument, but courts have ruled that basically they're immune to everything, even stuff it makes no sense they'd be immune from, which is why this has to be clarified and limited at the very least.

But Conservative, Inc. is being paid to carry their water so they're arguing against even clarifying that, for example, YES, social media companies can be sued for defamation when it's their own words (like their own headlines and curated content) that provide the defamation.

40 According to Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson (the hardest throwing pitcher of the day) was terrified of hurting someone. After seeing Johnson shaken up by hitting and injuring a batter, Cobb took to crowding the plate, to mess with Johnson.

Did it work? Well, Cobb batted .317 against Johnson. But his career average was .366. So who won the exchange? (Incidentally, it has to be the most common matchup in baseball history.)

First time we ordered up a pizza I was shocked to find that it was basically the same and as good as any you'll get in and around the NYC area. Which is of course the top tier pizza type and far outclasses Dominos.

I don't think I got any pizza in any other regions, but at least in Milan it's what a New Yorker would expect.

150 But Kruguman didn't want the actual data -- he wanted to make up an anecdon't (see what I did there, I'm a fucking genius like Walt Disney or Tesla) and put it in the mouth of a safely anonymous, and purely fictional, butcher.

Firstly - lets call this what it is. I was interested, back in high school, with the idea that one could study prices, costs, and make graphs and shit and thus turn a profit.

Krugman doesn't do that. He's a politician. He's not telling you how supply and demand work to influence the relationship between goods and services and commodities. He's trying to indoctrinate you. He's trying to persuade you.

Every economist today, that I read, is really just a politically theorist. They don't live in the world of supply and demand.

If they did - they'd be shitting themselves - because price is just the equilibrium between the supply of currency and the supply of goods and services ... influences by demand for the same. As Friedman said on Donahue.

And then there's Biden's Executive Branch Pay Raise of 4.6% - the largest in two decades - which has just cleared the House. Imagine, most sat home for two years and not only collect nice salaries but many also got very substantial "locality" pay too.

Born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Pramila spent her childhood in Jakarta and Singapore and went on to pursue her undergrad studies in America when she was just 16 years old. She became a civil rights activist, serving as the executive director of OneAmerica, a pro-immigration advocacy group, formed after 9/11. Like her writer mother, Maya too leaned towards literature and has written the book Pilgrimage: One Woman's Return to a Changing India, about her sojourn in India in 1995 and even now, writes articles and poetry.

Pramila is the younger of the Jayapal's two daughters. Susheela, 54, their older daughter, is a lawyer and works in Portland. Pramila took up English literature and economics for her Bachelor's degree at Georgetown University and did her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. She worked in a banking company on Wall Street for a couple of years, before stepping into activism and then into politics.

Reminiscing about Pramila's childhood, Jayapal says, "We call her Munna". "When we were in Jaipur and I was carrying my second child, our maid used to say 'chhota munna ayega'. . .

If you sell over $600/year on a site like ebay or Amazon you are self-employed. That's employment now (do the job numbers make more sense?), and you receive a 1099 and are expected to pay taxes on that $600 employment from selling those shoes and clothes and Star Wars Lego set your kid outgrew.

I saw an ad or magazine picture years back with a Black Hannibal. Again, Carthaginians were colonized from Phoenicia on the Levant, and might have had some Greek mixed in later, but there is no sign that they were racially very different from the Italians and Spanish of the same period. There is no discussion about differences between them except "cunning". Surely when they are wiping out your armies for 20 years the Romans could have come up with some curses involving black skin.

Milius knew Hollywood would "condemn" him for making the film.
https://tinyurl.com/yc4vsah4
"I knew that Hollywood would condemn me for it," Milius said in the Red Dawn commentary. "That I'd be regarded as a right wing warmonger from then on, uncontrollable and un-housebroken." Milius supposedly left one of his guns on his desk while journalists interviewed him, so he demonstrated his ideals well.

"I was the only person in Hollywood who would dare do this movie," he said. "Hollywood was very left-wing. But I have a lot of contractions. I'm a militarist and an extreme patriot at times, so I believe in all of that rugged individualism hogwash."

I don't drink coffee. I do remember what it was like in the early 90s when they were getting big. People were going nuts over it. Everyone was talking about how much BETTER it was than everything else.

Good, yes. And, hold on, Knock you socks off.

There's a little island resort off the coast of Tortola that used to serve Costa Rican coffee in their open air restaurant on the top of the island. It was fantastic. I spent an entire morning one visit drinking coffee and watching the world go by. Some of the best coffee I've ever had.

401 > One of the reasons I am single is because my ex wanted spam on white bread with ketchup everyday for lunch.

My wife could eat breakfast food every meal every day. Waffles, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fruit, etc. I am generally indifferent to breakfast food. Pancakes always look and smell good to me, until I eat about half a pancake and I'm not interested any more.

I put gochujang on the crust before I put pizza sauce on, it makes the flavor "pop" and gives it some kick as well.
I don't know that the mayo is a good idea, but my wife likes pepperoni and jalapeño, and then adds red chili powder

I also like using alfredo sauce for a white pizza.

439 I recall pizza in Naples as very similar in style to American (80’s Med Cruise in the navy)
Mostly sold by street vendors by the slice.

Biggest difference was occasionally you would see something a little weird as a topping - green peas anyone?
The other thing was - they like to put a big dollop of olive oil on your slice

For an Italian food suggestion - if you ever get a chance to go to the Vatican. - follow the little fat nuns at lunchtime. They know where to really good food is.

That is 6 survivors out of about 22-28 starting babies. 3 teenagers hatched earlier than the other three. And I see two of the little ones that may not make it, based on how they move.

Tough neighborhood.

Wait, was he in college and you weren't, or were you both in high school? I was a year behind him in high school. Did you also go to Norfolk Catholic?

(Ten years later, someone asked me if I knew the joke about the Catholic school in Norfolk, Virginia, and I had to admit I was an alumnus. The joke: what is the football chear of the c.s. in .n.v.? "We don't drink, we don't smoke, Nor-folk! Norfolk! Norfolk!" - the L is silent.)
