The Morning Report — 7/25/22

bidengillplate.jpg

Good morning, kids. Start of a new week, and a new life, so let's dive right in. The long drive was punctuated by a couple of stops to fill up the tank. $60 bucks in western Pennsylvania and then $48 in Indiana. The cratering economy for me was somewhat abstract even in impossibly expensive New York City but those two stops hit me in the face, and really brought home what the average American has been experiencing every day for well over a year now. People are angry at President Sponge-Brain Shits-Pants but he's just the visible face of a party that is intentionally doing everything it can to "fundamentally transform" everyone into a destitute serf beholden to a relative handful of wealthy, powerful overlords in government as well as a select few corporate C-suites.

A couple of good essays bring this point into sharp focus. First, courtesy of CBD, we have James Kunstler from his aptly titled Clusterfuck Nation blog setting the stage with a piece in reaction to Joey Soft-Serve's recent fiasco of a trip to the Middle East:

It’s like our country is trapped on one of those swirling carnival rides beloved of the county fairs… only, the felonious mutt who runs the ride has nodded off in a fentanyl delirium with the motor running at maximum speed… and the children-of-all-ages locked in the pods of this infernal machine shriek and vomit with each sickening rotation… as the half-century-old swing arms groan and wobble from metal fatigue on their squealing pivots… and suddenly comes a deafening crunch of gnashed gears, the smell of burning oil, and the pathetic whimpering of the nearly dead. . .

. . . It’s like a crime scene where the forensic experts have entered. The Saudi leader and his entourage only hang around the room for three minutes until the US State Department shoots enough photos to prove that “JB” was there and not stuffed in the basement of his Delaware beach house for the weekend, as usual. The American news media gets briefed: Saudi Arabia graciously agrees to bump up its oil production somewhere in the 2025-2027 time-frame — a triumph for US diplomacy, the networks are informed. Air Force One wings home through clouds of despair. The White House team members spend the flight updating their resumés.

I think we have witnessed “Joe Biden’s” final appearance at any world-stage event. He can do no more for the Party of Chaos. It has done what it can to wreck the joint with him as the pretend head-of-state.

Funny how the Democrat-Left is getting exactly what it wants in the rejiggering of America into a socialist shithole because, I don't think they are shocked or upset in the least with out of control crime, skyrocketing prices, supply chain breakdowns and a dollar shrinking faster than Brian Stetler's yutzick after an ice bucket challenge with ethyl chloride. What shocks and upsets them is that we the citizenry are not over the moon ecstatic and grateful to them. That's what they don't understand, and so as whole swathes of heretofore solid Democrat voting blocs openly boast of abandoning the party come this November (a permanent shift remains to be seen, mostly because of a GOP unwilling to attract and retain them), the Kalorama Klown Komintern has no choice but to quadruple down.

However corrupt the people and institutions of government and an alarmingly large section of the private sector may be, even in the wake of a stolen national election, the Left's control over even the most seriously compromised of the latter is still not absolute. With November just around the corner, there is little doubt that every criminal effort to keep the House and Senate in their hands will be used. To reiterate, they attempted to steal 2016, they did in fact steal 2020, and there is nothing they will not do up to and including physical violence — remember, that is now official state sanctioned physical violence — to preserve, protect and defend their power.

As friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh reminds us, "by any means necessary" ain't just a river in Egypt.

One of the ringing phrases of that decade was "by any means necessary," which originated in in a 1960 speech by the black French West Indian radical Marxist Frantz Fanon, "Why we use violence." The phrase may have had its roots in the 1948 play Dirty Hands(Les mains sales) by the Existentialist French playwright and philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre ("It is not by refusing to lie that we will abolish lies: it is by eradicating class by any means necessary") and then widely popularized by Malcolm X in 1965 (the year of his own assassination): "We declare our right on this earth to be a man, to be a human being, to be respected as a human being, to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, in this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary." It's a slogan now associated with black American filmmaker Spike Lee, who adopted it from Malcolm while making his eponymous film.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, "by any means necessary" means violence, otherwise known by the 1960s' euphemism, "direct action."  . . .

. . . Partisans on both sides of the ideological divide now speak openly of civil war—"direct action" at its rawest—and who can blame them? The country is a mess, a criminal oligarchy of the elderly, led by the same few families for the past 40 years (the Bushes, the Clintons, the Obamas, the Trumps), with a Trump v. Biden rematch possibly in the cards for 2024, unless either sensible heads prevail or the Grim Reaper finally comes to call for the Baby Boomers.

If war comes, however, it won't be geographical but ideological. The states have split between the parties, while the parties have split the electorate in odd ways: rich whites, especially Democrat women, have adopted the Sixties' clenched fists of "revolution," while the working class, including Latinos, has drifted toward the Republicans, hoping to preserve their rapidly declining standard of living while hunkering down and awaiting the possible succor of the fall elections.

As to the elections, we shall see what happens. I keep wondering, and as a caveat let me emphasize that I abhor violence, that as the Left ramps up its political thuggery in kangaroo courts and street thuggery with the firebombing of right-to-life centers and houses of worship, along with conservative and Republican political offices, the attempted assassinations of opposition figures like Justice Kavanaugh and Lee Zeldin, as well as the unleashing of criminals on our streets to terrorize the citizenry, will all of this lead them to their ultimate goal of total control, or will what was supposed to be a controlled demolition of society to Cloward-Piven it into paradise on earth actually turn into a Hiroshima-sized blowback against them?

Either way, we are heading for "interesting times."

    ABOVE THE FOLD, BREAKING, NOTEWORTHY

  • It’s like our country is trapped on one of those swirling carnival rides beloved of the county fairs… only, the felonious mutt who runs the ride has nodded off in a fentanyl delirium with the motor running at maximum speed… and the children-of-all-ages locked in the pods of this infernal machine shriek and vomit with each sickening rotation… as the half-century-old swing arms groan and wobble from metal fatigue on their squealing pivots… and suddenly comes a deafening crunch of gnashed gears, the smell of burning oil, and the pathetic whimpering of the nearly dead.

15 Saint of the Day
St. James the Greater (died 44 AD) is the brother of St. John the Apostle, and was one of Jesus's original 12 Apostles. The title "Greater" was added to distinguish him from St. James the Lesser, and is believed not to concern status or holiness, but physical height. Besides being the son of Zebedee, what is known of St. James's life comes after he and his brother were called to leave their father and their nets and follow after Jesus. James was one of the three apostles invited to witness the miraculous Transfiguration of Christ on Mount Tabor. As well, his righteous anger at seeing a Samaritan town reject Jesus inspired him to ask Jesus to call down fire on the town, which Jesus gently rebuked. Following Christ's Resurrection and Ascension, James preached the Gospel across the Roman empire before traveling to Spain, where he spread the Gospel for many years. The famous "Camino de Santiago" pilgrimage path in Spain is named in his honor (Santiago is Spanish for James). At the end of his life, James returned to Jerusalem, where he was the first apostle to be martyred. His feast day is July 25th.

Trump is the new player on the field and hasn't been in govt for the last 40 years. Unless Walsh is claiming includence since he's a business tycoon, but then he left a number of people off the list.

47 Owen described to this august assemblage how his efforts to replace the “individual selfish system” with a “united social” system would bring forth a “new man” who was free from the grasping imperatives that had marred human nature from time immemorial. 56 saw this at yahoo, from like 2 hours ago:

A bishop was robbed at gunpoint in the middle of a sermon Sunday in Brooklyn, and it was caught on video, CBS New York reports.

Bishop Lamor Whitehead says five to ten minutes into the sermon, he saw the door in the back of the room kicked open and three to four men walked in with guns. He believes he was targeted, the station says. The service was being livestreamed.

"I said, 'Alright, alright, alright,' pretty much stating that I'm not going to do anything because I know you're coming for me. You're coming straight to me. I don't want my parishioners hurt. I've got women and children there," said Whitehead, of Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries.

"As I got down, one went to my wife and took all her jewelry and had the gun in front of my 8-month-old baby's face. Took off my bishop's ring, my wedding band and took off my bishop's chain, and then I had chains underneath my robe and he started tapping my neck to see if anything else. So that means they knew. They watched and they knew that I have other jewelry," he explained.

Democrats Decriminalized Drugs to Help Black People. Black Overdoses Skyrocketed

Was the rationale to decriminalize drugs the same that some use to lower the legal age to buy/drink alcohol from 21 to 18? I have read over the years that many other countries have a lower legal age for alcohol purchase/consumption* and the claim is that because 18-20 year olds can drink and it's not a big deal, there are less binging and alcohol problems compared to USA.

So the rationale here would be that decriminalizing drugs would make the black community not see drug use as a desired activity anymore, since it's not a criminal activity?

*i.e. Canada is 18, I think, so lots of people here in Michigan tell stories of their teen years where they went over the border to Windsor to drink legally there.

Now do minimum sentencing because back in the mid 80s some white guy didn't get jailed for the same amount of time as a black guy for having drugs and that was racism so blacks and democrats insisted there be strict requirements for sentences and three strikes laws, and it led to record incarceration of (drum roll please) black people.

It was probably like a customer confab at a major vendor convention. In my industry, it goes like this: the customer CEO and the CEO of the vendor get on stage together to talk about how great the other one is. A bit later in the day, the customer CTO and his entourage sit around a big, fancy table in a distant corner of the facility and issue lists of demands and grievances to the vendor's engineering, sales and support leads.

I suspect the diplomatic version of that happened, where the Saudi contingent issued the American contingent with a laundry list of reasons they can't do what we want and wouldn't do it even if they could.

It is entirely possible that the answer to this question is "neither." It may be more likely that we see something more like Irish-style "troubles" that run for a couple of decades. High tension with periodic sporadic violence, particularly along the urban/suburban and suburban/rural interfaces. Increased clannishness within the division areas and likely vigilantism throughout, though primarily in the suburban and rural zones. Routine shows of force from the feds at many locations across the continent, though they do little to change the overall theme.

Yep, all the people claiming "red wave!" and stating things like "I don't see a path for Democrats to win anywhere" are using flawed logic. They are analyzing things assuming past Democrat tactics. But the Democrat tactics are always, always changing. Adding more and more ways to cheat.

It's like a military strategy to win a war fought with WWII tactics instead of updating strategy to win a war fought with current or future tactics.

Conservatives always seem to be a step behind. Patting themselves on the back for making changes to the voting system to (maybe) prevent what the Democrats did last time, while not doing anything to prevent the new tactics Democrats will use.

During the peak of the COVID stupids (March - November 2020), I spent a lot of time on the road. I got the hell out of Dodge for 2-3 weeks at a time to go look after family in another part of the country and to escape from my blue city nightmare. I'd spend 2-3 weeks elsewhere, then home for a bit, then repeat. I had one trip in 2021. Lots of road time.

In 2021, it was starting to hit. Gas was higher but not insane, but hotels especially went straight to plaid. Conversations at hotels especially showed some serious discontent. It was expensive. Service was down. People were tiring of propaganda pouring out of TV sets in public areas. It was an undercurrent then. I suspect it is far worse now, but thankfully I have not needed to travel in about a year.

This should not be a question any longer. It was obvious they were lying from the start.

In summer of 2020, everyone on the left claimed that true vaccines needed 18 months to be developed properly. That put the rollout in December of 2021.

When Trump pushed the rollout in November 2020, everyone on the Left said to not trust the "vaccines". After the rigged and stolen election, they did a complete 180, and started pushing the "vaccines".

189 So whenever a liberal, especially a celebrity one, mentions "transitioning" off fossil fuels or how high gas prices "are good" I immediately think back to Soviet Farmers.

I read an article once that said farmers of the Soviet Union were not allowed to travel more than 60 miles away from their homes. That's right, in the great classless society of the Soviet Union, shocker, some people had more rights than others.

And it bleeds over into other comments as well. Whenever a liberal mentions the "American love affair with cars" or "Europeans don't need AC like us"..they don't really give a shit about the climate.

They give a shit about creating a class from which you will be excluded. Oh, "mass transportation" is another one.

Not to mention domestic LE and intelligence. This is good advice. Keep information about yourself - especially the immutable characteristics of what you are - to yourself. Trust no one.

But how about some legislation, Rep. Crow? Not the mess of the GDPR, but a simpler framework for protecting data privacy and ownership? Make me the owner of data collected about me and give me control over it. Make all information sharing - all of it, without exception - between a collector of information (say, a genetic testing company or a website) and any third-party subject to explicit opt-in by the customer. No complex opt-out schemes for partial coverage, but explicit opt-in. Also ensconce the entitlement to data destruction for individuals (the "right to be forgotten" concept) into the law.

You could, you know, try doing something about it.

Or it's a final cash-grab as the wheels come off the remaining COVID regime as it crumbles under casual non-compliance.

The only potential adverse action will be against the pharma companies. If the dam breaks on this crap, the FDA will hide behind the fact that Pfizer and Moderna (and probably J&J) lied to them in the trial data. The FDA's active cooperation in those lies will be swept under the rug. The liability protections in the EUA will be declared void because of the fraud. Pfizer (and possibly J&J) will lose half or 2/3 of their market value in the resulting litigation, and Moderna goes to zero. The people at the FDA retire and take their pensions.

That's the most "adverse" thing I could imagine actually happening, and that's a longshot.

217 Sent this to my state legislators yesterday afternoon:

Proposal: Add a None of The Above option to ballots

Goal: Allow people to clearly state that none of the candidates represent their views

In many elections, I find that none of the candidates are people I want in office. Currently, this means that I have to either vote for the lesser evil, but still vote for evil, or vote for no one. I find both options distasteful, because it doesn't tell the powers that nominate candidates that they have failed.

My proposal has two parts. First, if None of the Above wins the most votes, then a new election is required for that office. None of the initial slate of candidates for that office, nor any loser from any other election on that ballot, is allowed as a candidate for the new election.

Second, any candidate for an office where None of the Above wins cannot run for an elected office for four (4) years, nor be appointed to a state or lower-level office for the same period of time. I am also open to extending this restriction to any candidate who gets fewer votes than None of the Above.

222 Part 2:

Possible Issues

1) Presidential elections could get interesting. If None of the Above wins, it could create some interesting dynamics. If (my state) elects "None of the Above", it would certainly break any belief in a landslide victory.

2) It would create greater accountability of incumbents to the voters. Even if they run unopposed, they can still lose the election and office if they vote against the interests of their electorate.

3) For a time, there would likely be more elections as bad candidates and elected officials lose to None of the Above.

It is amazing that there are essentially 3 stages to Dem perfidy, and it always goes this way...

1) Conservatives warn the GOPe that the Dems are planning something bad - like stealing the presidential election. The GOPe responds by saying, "Oh come on they'd never do that!"

2) The Democrats do whatever the hell conservatives warned about - like stealing an election.

3) The GOPe publicly announces that no one warned them, and that really, SOMEONE should do something so this doesn't happen. Then members of the GOPe try their damnedest to make sure no one does anything about it.

But *if* we had such a way, it would not be like the first American war, which was mainly geographical. I fear it would be far more like the English civil wars of the 1640's, where the country split by class and religion, and perhaps the best way to describe what happened is that one half of every city in the land decided to murder the other half, and in response the other side began to murder back. After 10 years, together they had managed to burn almost the entire country to the ground.

What I find interesting is that it isn't inverted in terms of ratio of professor vs. students. The students are more likely to be given the benefit of the doubt by the red guards. Perhaps it's because of the distrust of authority figures who are "offensive."

The other notable thing is the vagary - probably intentional - of the question. "Reported" or "turned in?" To what end? What's the goal or expectation of these amateur red guards? Censure? Termination of employment or expulsion? Arrest and confinement in a reeducation camp? Execution? Report them to whom and for what purpose? What's the remedy? Where are the lines and where are the limits? Have they even considered the question beyond the first step of "report them?"

A HERO'S STORY: Dr. Richard Levine hopped out of bed one day in his mid-40's, got in the shower, looked down and declared, "OMG, WHERE DID THAT PENIS COME FROM?!!!", then toweled off, donned a floral print dress, faux pearl necklace and a pair of sensible size 12 shoes and bid his wife and kids goodbye forever, and headed off to his job as a psychiatrically trained adolescent medicine physician on a mission to save countless young people from suffering the same fate...

We went to church yesterday, and I noted a slight uptic in the number of people masked up. From something like 5 to 20 total in a congregation of about 200 or so.

As I was sitting there, I noted that Dolley had never even brought up the idea of putting on a mask for months. I think my obvious lack of compliance had an effect on her.

Now square that with the white supremacy narrative and the consequences for those who publicly question it.

Natural language processing is one of the great Next Frontiers in computing. I've been sounding the horn on this one for a decade or two and predicting that Goolag has the most to gain from it and would lead the charge.

485 Not that Michael Walsh is wrong, but "direct action" traces back much further than the 1960s. The term first appeared in print by the International Workers of the World in 1910, and traces further back to the phrase "propaganda of the deed" which was first suggested in 1857 and "formally" approved as a tactic by the International Anarchist Congress of London in 1881.
"By any means necessary", aka "terrorism", is a very old anarcho-communist concept, that has gone through several euphemisms, much the way "progressivism", "liberalism", and "democratic-socialism" have been used.

I know Ace and some cobs were cold on Trump but I was unaware that any of them were actual never trumpers (maybe I missed it)
Walsh is over on instapundit's site slamming commenters on his article. To be more specific, he does a drive by on the Trump family and calls them a "ruling criminal family" which is absurd as he has only been elected twice and none of his other family members have. Commenters rightly objected to that and he's doubling down on his position. I'm not sure if it is advantageous to call such a "friend", as associating with such dreck brings down everyone. Just wanted to mention it.

Thanks for all you do -
