Going to be a good day. Treating my best friend to his favorite meal, then taking him to see Lynyrd Skynyrd. When you only have one friend, it pays to treat them nice on their birthday. I'm getting older, and those bodies just don't bury themselves. (FBI: That's what they call a joke.)

39 The charging issue relative to the grid is the ev Achilles. It's a classic do-loop, the grid can't handle a serious influx of personal EVs charging for long periods off a standard household setup. But the grid can't also handle higher kv super chargers dispersed across the same customer base even if they are time differentiated to non peak charging hours. Not to mention the expense of the latter. These people aren't stupid, they are malevolent, they know you can't conjure electricity from nothing.

Other than creating 500 new billionaires, I don't know. I'm very dubious about any claims they reduce severe illness, since everything we've been told thus far has been a total lie. CAT or Muldoon may know more, obviously, but if there is benefit, it is very short lived. I keep coming back to the unavoidable fact that it doesn't keep you from getting covid, and it doesn't keep you from spreading it around. And its possible severe side effects (whose long term damage is yet to be seen) negate any benefit it claims to have. YMMV

You and I both know there is a pretty specific pool in the population they recruit from. I would posit they've damaged their reputation greatly within that pool. Now in a broader sense I believe some of it is a bit unfair. There are still a lot of good people serving and some in leadership (GO's are few and far between). Nonetheless, nobody wants to serve under some suck up woke O-1 or O-2 from the academy whose main concern is how you feel about the vaccine and making you use proper pronouns.

Same here. I got my religious exemption last November. Before I got the word I was prepared to let them fire me and to ring up an employment lawyer to give 'em hell.

There have been far too many cases of people dropping dead or getting deathly ill, as in heart trouble, shortly after receiving one or more of these shots. Parents are getting the right idea: Only about 1-3% (?) of kids under 11 have received the damn things. And the admin is throwing away millions of doses because nobody will take them and they are expiring.

Given the life span of the battery, the fact that when the battery life is up, the car can't be driven, and that manufacturers are likely to not support the car after battery end of life, the depreciation calculus is totally different than any other good.

The day is not far off from there being a several thousand dollar cost to rid oneself of a used EV.

Although there is some of that going on, gas prices are always a matter of local supply and demand. There are 2 ways to lower gas prices, and ONLY 2 ways; one is to increase supply by drilling and producing more; the other is to reduce economic activity so that not as much oil is needed to keep things going. The military also ended the pension at 20 years system. The idea was to get rid of the time-servers who spend the last few years marking time and to attract people interested in mid-length careers.

Thus: you get retirement dollars from day one with incentives the longer you stay in.

However, there's no reason to stick it out for the pension or feel you've "wasted" time. A lot of people are simply not going to reenlist.

And yes, the recruiting pool has collapsed. No one I know is encouraging people to join, in fact they are doing the opposite.

The single most damaging thing they've done to undercut out military was the forced vaccine policy. That level of stupid has to be purposeful. No sane military leader concerned with preparedness, morale and ethos above all else would support that. Any thinking person can deduce that it is without merit and does zero to support the mission. If you read the studies, which are credible, and you compare that against every other virus lifecycle, the "vaccine", which it is not, does almost nothing to secure troops overall health. In fact, given the general level of health, which is much better then the overall population and almost completely outside the virus attack vector, it hurts preparedness because the negative effects are more damaging then the actual virus. That leadership isnt saying they will step down from their command if they don't retract the vaccine policy is a gross dereliction of duty.

214 Morning peeps.

The reports on BB and Axios about Trump's plans to ditch about 50K feds...

... yea, no. It's about reinstituting Schedule F, a classification for certain federal employees that would strip away "some" of their protections against being fired. It was a big story, for a couple days near the end of Trump's term. He signed an EO to implement it, it was challenged in court, and within a couple weeks the "election" was stolen and *biden rescinded the EO. It never saw the light of day.

The bigger issue is how to deal with the upper and middle management feds who are hardcore leftists and disrupters. They (mostly) were responsible for disobeying Trump's directions. Trump and his people apparently understand this now and the bigger plan is to have some sort of "tool" they can use to remove these people if necessary.

IMO it was a huge mistake to broadcast this plan to the very people you intend to use it on.

Something I did learn from the two year covid experiment was that my former method of buying groceries every four or five days was inefficient. We're now up to three plus weeks between trips. Less driving, less exposure to people, with just a little more work.

It's now like a two hour workout of lifting, moving, carrying, transporting, unpacking, re-wrapping, freezing, etc.

I don't believe we disagree at all. We all know a bunch of people in command more concerned with their next promotion and not much else. There are tons of Lloyd Austin Mini Me's from West Point running around trying to polish their resumes and get that sweet defense contractor or think tank retirement. But that's not what wins wars. It's what make them longer, without a goal for mission completeness and in the end gets a lot of people in the dirt. So, yes. They don't give a fig what the GO's tell them to do or whether it makes sense. They're cowards who will do what they're told whether it makes sense or not. They will NEVER put their asses on the line for principle or what is right.

And the farmer who said to my son when son was standing up and looking around after weeding for seven hours in 93 degree temps, "If you're just going to stand around I will have to send you home" and then sent him home ten minutes before his shift ended, has now said the same thing again. Son said to me, "I'm not standing around for a long time, I was just evaluating what I needed to do next,"

I figured out farmer is under stress and doesn't like paying out $600 every two weeks. However, he still has the sign out for help, and if he fired son he'd have fewer workers.
I told son he might consider going in and saying "I am trying to work as fast as I can, but if it would be helpful to you if I work fewer hours I can do that." I also told him that Most people have at least one or more bosses who are jerks and he should pray for him, FenSpouse had a boss who used to shout rudely at people. The whole point of doing analysis is to gain insight sufficient to predict what comes next.

If the bosss thinks your son isn't working hard enough, that is a comparison he's evidently made. Farm work is the toughest job there is, IMO, and if your son has never done it before he will have a hard time comparing well.

Take the complaints and don't react, is my advice. Reacting gets you nothing. Work as hard as you are able. But, always and in every job you ever have, tell your son to be alert for something better.

Yes, and the reason things aren't worse is that there are also institutional actors trying to retrain the chaos - not because they are noble patriots, but out of pure self-interest.

There is a fairly small segment of the military that is very religious and would seek conscience waivers, just as there's a small segment seeking medical ones. If your frame is that these people must all be shirkers and subversives, you try blanket denials to push them out. But that also requires you to violate your own regulations, which sends a clear signal to everyone else that conforming doesn't confer safety.

So even irreligious people who got vaxxed now want out because the leadership can't be trusted.

It's not just you. A lot of adults have a natural tendency to treat young kids in the workplace like shit. Talk terribly to them, treat them almost sub-human. As you get older, they knock that shit off. Most people, especially if they've been shit on, really like to shit on somebody else whenever they think they've got the chance.

337 @Eromero, the 5-4 decision had no opinion, so I'm just speculating as to ACB's motives, but here goes. The issue is that the Biden Administration issued a policy on deportations that told DHS to take racial equity into account and not to take nonviolent criminal convictions into account when prioritizing who to deport. The Fifth Circui blocked it because it was effectively changing the law, which requires that all convicted criminals be deported. The Tenth Circuit, I believe, didn't block it. In the DACA decision, the Supreme Court said prosecutorial discretion is an individual determination and can't be a blanket policy. The question is whether that also applies to deportations, which are administrative actions.

345 @Ignoramus, I think Bannon wins, but the reasoning is something like this: We have three branches of government. The legislative branch can create whatever kangaroo hearings (not courts) it wants; that's their prerogative. Perhaps the executive branch can choose to prosecute people who don't go along with it. But when the judiciary gets involved, the proceeding has to be Constitutional, and the alleged crime was not.

346 150 Do the vaccines have any value at all?

Honest question.
Posted by: Huck Follywood at July 23, 2022 07:42 AM (YKyOU)

I'm sure everyone here would love to hear my unscientific opinion (lol) so here goes:

The immune response generated by the "vaccines" is worthless, since it teaches your body to produce antibodies to just one component of the virus from 2019 that has long ago mutated and isn't even circulating any more.

A very weird thing is that within weeks, a jabbed person achieves negative efficacy -- more likely than unjabbed to get infected.

Here's my unscientific theory: the reason there seems to be any protection at all (for 8-20 weeks, depending on how many shots; more shots, shorter protection window) is because the shots cause the incidence of spike proteins in the body, which "clogs up" the ACE-2 receptors, which then temporarily prevents Covid spike proteins from being able to dock in the ACE-2 receptors. With repeated shots, the body becomes more efficient cleaning up the vaccine spike proteins, so protection time shortens. Israeli study showed second booster protected for 8 weeks before going negative.

When I first graduated from college with a finance degree, I went to work at a bank and had, as my first boss, a woman who told me when she met me that she hated college kids and gave me a horrible first evaluation. I left a year later and became a naval officer. Before I left, I told her boss, the bank VP, that she was insane. He just looked at me and shrugged.

A year after I left, I heard from a friend that she shot herself in the bank parking lot in front of the customers - she was despondent over an affair, very sad. Sometimes, you just know that certain people were never, ever meant to be the boss of anyone.
