To be fair, movie's conception of heat is a bit ... tenuous. Look at the lava in the third one or pretty much any movie with lava (looking at you, Dante's Peak and Volcano.) It is only if you touch it (in movie) that it is actually dangerous. You can be right next to it and be fine. To say nothing of the noxious gases released during an eruption.

Agreed. He's an overrated hack that can string words together. He was clearly way over his head when it came to writing epic fantasy. He saw authors like Tolkien and Tad Williams and overestimated his ability to emulate their talent. (Tad Williams famously can't write a trilogy to save his life, but he's honest about this quirk.)

Well, since you asked, there is something from the last season worth watching. If you ever get a chance to see Clegane Bowl, it's worth a look. Just visually, ignore most of the story, and you basically have two brothers who are great warriors in a duel to the death in a castle that is being dismantled by a crazy chick riding a dragon.
I liked that. I can't even think of something that compares to it. It doesn't make up for the night battle where I literally had to change the settings on my tv to kind of see what was happening. That was the single biggest fail in tv since Geraldo opened Capone's Vault.

Some speculate that that is why the most recent book writing is going so slow. People hated George's shit ideas and he has an ego as thin as a gnat's ass.

The writing is just terrible, the characters are unlikable, and the plot doesn't seem to get going for some time.

I noticed in their quest for black representation, they tend to use only mixed people (Brits, I'm looking at you) or skip over the genuinely attractive black chicks. Modeling outfits do this a lot, too. You'll see at least some pretty white girls but if a chick is full black, they'll typically pick a weird looking one (no offense to the models).

System isn't set up that way. Rather, the barrel will be slightly slanted upwards while it's at battery, with the slide fully forward. This launches the bullet on a slight upward path, and it *will* rise above the plane of the sights, and as gravity's pull makes itself known (it always does), and air resistance slows the bullet, it'll reach the top of it's arc, and begin a downward trending path. And, the more velocity the bullet loses, the more pronounced that downward arc becomes.
Jerry Mikulec famously scored a 2nd shot hit on a ballon at 1,000 yds. Glock 17, 9mm. He pointed the gun up at about 35 degrees, and ballistic calculators showed that the bullet maxed out at about 120 ft. at the top of the arc, and was basically falling[/] vertically out of the sky as it hit the balloon.
9mm at 40 yards ought to shoot to within 1 to 2 inches of the point of aim. I know for a fact that my .38 spl, 148 gr. wadcutters, fired from 4" bbl S&W, shoot 5" below point of aim at 50 yards. And they're flat nosed, and slow!

And upward momentem explains that. Guys, I get it. I clearly stated my assumptions and clarified them as well. The horizontan to ground barrel assumption negates all sight ranging because no parabolic curve on flight of bullet.
