Sad Hasbeen Mopes Crosby Stills and the Other One Slink Back to Spotify

The forever boycott lasted five months.

Singers David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash returned to Spotify months after pulling their music from the streaming platform in protest over comments by podcaster Joe Rogan.

The folk-rock band's music returned to Spotify on Saturday, according to Billboard which cited a source as saying that the group will donate proceeds to COVID-19 charities for at least a month.

Go find another cause to glom on to.

There's a book about the worst rock songs of all time which puts that high up on its rating, noting that Stills is incapable of writing any song beyond his own blinkered worldview of getting his dick sucked by the nearest groupie.

110 Re:Alex Berens on -- yes, it seems pretty obvious that there are communication channels in place between Twitter and government officials to shutdown pesky citizens.

Dr. Shiva, a guy who ran for Senate in MA discovered this when he was immediately suspended after tweeting about sketchy vote results in a few areas. Turned out that there was AL algorithm in place to suspend if state election commissioner was mentioned ed by name. That is so local you have to imagine there's an entire group at Twitter to field these requests from various US and other countries governments.

Walker is facing multiple FEC complaints from Democrats that allege he illegally spent campaign money to prepare for his Senate announcement, and that he and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) campaigns coordinated without proper disclosures. He’s called both complaints frivolous.

This is how you keep newcomers out of politics. So many rules, you can't possibly follow all of them and your opponent can bury you in FEC complaints.

313 @237 Robotech. Southern Cross is the story with the Robotech Masters.

Of course.

The trilogy I mentioned is a bit more obscure, since it's a Japan-only thing. Macross and Southern Cross are part of a series of three otherwise unrelated show that have "Super Dimension" in the title, and are thus called the "Super Dimension Trilogy". The middle show is Orgus, and afaik it was never released in North America. I'd have been surprised (and impressed) if you'd been referring to that.

As it turns out, your comment also works there since Southern Cross was also the weakest show in that trilogy, with low ratings causing it to end early.

Is it working now? I mean, seriously, is having a centralized bureaucracy running things as a monopoly making life better or worse - in medicine, law or education? Are you better now that things are more planned and controlled?

This is a question I ask everyone, and I get blown off every time: What would you have to see to make you consider that there might be a better solution?
Posted by: Kindltot at July 06, 2022 01:53 PM (xhaym)

Police aren't centralized federally. Mostly we don't have serious or crippling issues with policing. Local police controlled by the richest guy in town has been tried for a long time. It's not super great. Some libertarians of this school do acknowledge they're advocating for neo-feudalism but have a crackpot notion of that what that entails.

Just that we fucked up in living and letting live our way into being steamrolled by people who had no intention of doing so back.

In some places the current system works ok - you don't hear about Podunk Village Police because...they aren't doing anything dumb. In my town I've got no issues with the cops or the policing. In other towns I've had issues with them.

Yeah, whatever. Ron DeSantis isn't asleep at the wheel. Nor is Rand Paul or Mike Lee. Paul Ryan was a colossal disappointment as speaker, and it's fair to call him a sellout, but making his name by calling out the unsustainable nature of federal spending hardly counts as asleep at the wheel. Elon Musk has not been asleep at the wheel. Bezos is a douche, but hardly asleep at the wheel. sorry have to disagree three dots!

we have been swimming against the damn tide OUR WHOLE LIVES

graduated college into a nasty recession - no jobs - a lot of us worked in whatever, did the start up thing - just out of necessity. I went to grad school to waste time which worked out ok.

two recessions during my working life

silent gen parents ignored us which was good and bad. they were too busy sleeping around and remarrying. I give boomer parents credit; they took better care of their Millie kids. those kids had parents who at least WANTED them around, paid attention - maybe they wanted to be friends too much but that's better than what happened to a lot of us Gen X. divorce divorce divorce; take care of your parents (mom) now that she's miserable and alone ... and that is how you start your young life (for a LOT of my peers!) as a Gen X around Philly.

I am GenX and we are overall an awesome generation and for damn sure the last sane people on earth. But we didn't listen to Reagan's advice about freedom. We thought people were like us. They aren't. They want to take over. Or they want to live under tyranny. That's the default. That wasn't us. Second worst was Broooose Springshit. Who is supposedly one of the freatest live performers evah! Bullshit. He sucked bags of dicks. Just awful.

Police came out, stood there, and played. Note for note perfect to their album.... but no energy at all... not even facial expression changes.

Left half way through their set.

516 This is a bunch of crap. 2A rights extend to knives. There are knife laws that prohibit **carrying** blades over a certain length, or owning switchblades. But there can be no prohibition on having knives or daggers or swords at home, or else every home chef with a set of Macs would be in trouble.

If the cops had no probable cause to arrest him, they had no business confiscating these knives. If they had reason to confiscate the knives, they had reason to believe that he was a threat to himself or others and could have ordered a psych hold.

As it happened, the cops simply violated civil liberties without actually addressing the real threat. Which is basically the problem with red flag laws in a nutshell. Typical.

I'm not saying it hasn't been hard.

But there was a strong tide of we can be socially liberal while being fiscally conservative and we didn't push back - and in fact too many of us jumped on and drove that bandwagon.

We failed to recognize the roles of foundational things that came before us and became shocked when the generation after us ended up being tormentors and oppressors much like those who directly preceded us.

We shouldn't have been shocked. We lived in an amazing time. We were asleep.

Army granted gear, FBI training, Federal Civil Rights Commission oversight, Federal Grants . . . Not controlled but if they step out of line they get their operating budget pulled and they have to subsist on taxes and traffic tickets.

Look, everyone likes their own cops but dislikes being ruled over by someone else's cops. In a big city those aren't your cops, they are hired by the mayor and city commissioners/city council. Privatizing it might be like breaking up Ma Bell and allowing smaller companies to run the phone system up to and including cell phones

There may be a Pareto function where a few players dominate the industry, but it is pretty much what we have already, and it will at least be funded by the people directly

The Rolling Stones just make music, like an old blues band. They can do this forever (or until Keith Richards dies, whichever comes first) because its just standard blues and soul. I don't mean that as a criticism, I mean they aren't trying to be cool or modern or popular. They're just making the music they like.
