The Morning Report — 7/4/22

whathesaidheston.jpg

Good morning, kids. The Fourth of July is here. All things considered, on the one hand it's hard for me to wish you a happy Fourth but to not do so would be to accept the enemy's memes and hatred for the very founding of the United States of America. Here's just one link and headline that I think is illustrative:

Democrats of Pima County Arizona Celebrate Independence Day by Saying "Fuck the Fourth"

My response? Fuck YOU, vayr ge hargit, and go to hell. Whatever the state of this nation is, and I believe we are for sure in some transitory period where America as founded is no more, I'll be damned if I'm going to sit back and surrender to what those who destroyed it have in mind for us. Joe Mannix, CBD and I discussed what the future might hold on our latest podcast (in the sidebar and right here). I don't think that some sort of breakup into two or even more independent nation states is possible, at least not from the enemy's perspective. While all we want is to be left alone to live our lives as we see fit, they cannot allow that for a host of reasons. First, they'd starve to death soon after devolving into chaos and misery so complete as to make Haiti after a category 10 Hurricane Clinton look like the golden age of Atlantis in comparison. Second, it's sort of like the punchline from the joke about why Jewish women make love in the dark: "They can't stand to see anyone else have a good time." As long as we exist, and in fact thrive, the complete negation of everything they believe in would be impossible for them to bear. But, I digress.

Look at their reactions to the SCOTUS decisions that came down last week in striking down Roe, affirming free speech and rejecting New York's absolute infringement on the Second Amendment. Calls to either pack the court with a half dozen more Leftist hack-in-black rubber stamps or to abolish the court altogether as well as states vowing to flat out ignore the Court's rulings. Can you say, "nullification?"

In an act of breathtaking defiance and spitefulness not seen since Southern states engaged in "massive resistance" to the Supreme Court's 1954 Brown v. Board decision, the New York State Legislature gave a middle finger to the Supreme Court and voted Friday to effectively nullify the Court's decision last week in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen.

After an extraordinary session for the explicit purpose of defying the Court, Senate Bill S51001 was rammed through on a party-line vote by the Democratic supermajority, passed the Assembly, and received the signature of Gov. Kathleen Hochul. . .

. . . In Bruen, Justice Thomas ruled that these arbitrary restrictions were unconstitutional and violated the Second Amendment's guarantee to keep "and bear" arms for self-defense, ordering New York State and New York City to issue concealed carry permits to qualified applicants for that reason.

In response, Gov. Hochul (who was endorsed by the NRA in 2012 when she ran for Congress in rural Western New York) vindictively declared that New York would restrict guns to the point where the State would "go back to muskets."  Hochul called the Legislature back from recess and presented a bill that criminalizes as a felony offense concealed carry in perhaps 98% of the state.

Relying upon Justice Scalia's unwise choice of words in District of Columbia v. Heller, the bill defines nearly every public area except for a road or sidewalk a "sensitive area" where a permit holder is forbidden to carry concealed. . .

. . . New York has made it clear that the Constitution does not apply within its boundaries, no matter what the Supreme Court says.  As was the case after the Heller decision of 2008, the state's gun laws have actually become an order of magnitude more repressive following the legal "victory."

I suppose I could be glib and say "So, okay. New Yorkers should just open carry. Problem solved." I hate these fucking people with a passion but one thing is absolutely clear: by hook or by crook, regardless of their political clout, they will do whatever it takes to win and impose their will on us. Our side, not so much. Their words and deeds are proof positive that we are in a cold to lukewarm civil war. Our political and thought leadership in the main refuses to see this and so goes blissfully on with exhortations to vote harder, contribute more to the RNC and don't let your National Review subscription lapse.

And so, it's July 4th. There are revolutions and then there are "revolutions." Lurker extraordinaire Victor Davis Hanson:

For 120 days in summer 2020, violent protesters destroyed some $2 billion in property and injured 1,500 police officers in riots that led to over 35 deaths.

Because blue-state mayors and governors saw BLM and Antifa instigators as useful street soldiers, most of those arrested were never tried in court. Street thugs paid no price for declaring themselves de facto owners of downtown areas of Seattle, which police themselves conceded were no-go zones. Why did public officials in blue states ignore the violence? They were certain that it enjoyed majority support among their leftwing constituencies.

Indeed, some leftist icons cheered on the violence. Well after the failed attempt to storm the White House grounds, in June 2020, the Democratic candidate for vice president Kamala Harris warned us that protestors were “not going to let up, and they should not.” What did Harris mean by “should not?”—when she knew numerous protests that summer had ended in terrible violence? Was she reckless in the manner Trump was said to be by encouraging a demonstration on January 6? . . .

. . .The Left, in revolutionary fashion, has waged a sustained and unapologetic attack on constitutional norms and long-held institutions—whenever it senses they no longer prove conducive to its own radical agendas.

Barack Obama declared during a funeral oration for the late Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) that the filibuster was racist and must end—although as a senator Obama had used it and declared it essential.

The Electoral College? When the so-called “blue wall” fell, it transmogrified from valuable to a bankrupt fossil. In fact, the Left has wanted to create two new blue states (the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) to fast track four left-wing senators, and cram through a national voting law to make the states’ constitutional prerogative to require voter IDs illegal. . . .

. . . There is a revolutionary war now being waged against the Supreme Court, because it no longer characteristically legislates from the bench. If the Court was once beloved as an iconic institution that was a sort of liberal judiciary, legislature, and executive all in one, it is now utterly despised as counterrevolutionary. Indeed, it is declared illegitimate, and its rulings to be ignored.
Former law professor Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) screams about a need to pack the Court—an insurrectionary attempt to end 160 years of judicial law and custom, that would be impossible without first ending the 180-year filibuster.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) called out Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanagh by name at the doors of the Court, issuing biblical warnings of violence to both: “You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”  . . .

. . . On the day Trump was inaugurated, Madonna incited a crowd outside the White House by warning that she had thought of blowing up the White House. Comedian Kathy Griffin trumped that in a video in which she held up a facsimile of a decapitated Trump head.

Few today remember James Hodgkinson—a former Bernie Sanders campaign worker—and his 2017 attempt to assassinate Republican congressmen at a practice for a charity baseball game.

So yes, let us fear that democracy is dying in media darkness. Real insurrectionists are seeking to dismantle the Constitution, to end centuries-long customs and traditions, to justify the use of political violence, and to disobey all the laws they find inconvenient.

With that, it absolutely breaks my heart to see this story:

Much of what American soldiers fought for in World War II has “gone down the drain,” according to U.S. Marine Carl Spurlin Dekel, who celebrated his 100th birthday last week.

Dekel says serving his country in WWII was the most important thing he ever did, according to Fox 13. The veteran and Silver Star holder says he wouldn’t hesitate to put his life on the line again, but regrets that the U.S. has slipped away from what he remembers.

“People don’t realize what they have,” Dekel told the outlet. “The things we did and the things we fought for and the boys that died for it, it’s all gone down the drain.”

“We haven’t got the country we had when I was raised, not at all,” he says. “Nobody will have the fun I had. Nobody will have the opportunity I had. It’s just not the same and that’s not what our boys, that’s not what they died for.”

Dekel’s statements came the same day the U.S. lost the last surviving Medal of Honor recipient from WWII. Hershel “Woody” Williams died Wednesday at 98 years old, surrounded by his family at a hospital named after him in his home state of West Virginia.

Revolutions and revolting. Happy Fourth of July.

14 I'm a huge fane of Calvert, but Rome was not just " like any other civilization". That is an amazingly facile line to use to contrast the concept of republics between Rome and Philadelphia 1776. The fact is, we will fall, have fallen, whatever, like Rome through a combination of a weak people given to sloth and gratification of the senses, weak rulers who allow and encourage this behavior and a failure to stay committed to the principles that created the enterprise. In our case, remembering that we were God inspired, God sparked and God led for much of our history.

Learned a new term recently (or had forgotten and re-learned it) that has been used to describe the Left's "Western Self-Hatred:" Oikophobia. [Orwell drew attention to English self-hatred many years ago.]

Was musing to my wife yesterday that some of you 'rons & 'ettes who really are 29 or younger may still be around for the tricentennial date of July 4, 2276 ... but I doubt very much the nation will have survived in any recognizable form.

Her response was we'll be luck to make it to 250 years in 2226. [I looked up the name for the 250th anniversary, and there are three: Semiquincentennial, Sestercentennial, or Quarter Millennial.]

Semi-Happy Independence Day to all of you and the rest of us who still love the Founding and what decency remains of this country ...

27 The Democrat Left is now openly flouting Supreme Court decisions, the law of the land. Who couldn't see this coming? About 99% of the GOP. And who will do anything about it? Not 99% of the GOP.

VDH asks "who are the real insurrectionists?" The question comes years too late. That it is phrased as a question is sad.

That we didn't, and don't yet, understand the nature of the war against us, so we pay the ongoing and perhaps ultimately fatal price.

Trump had a chance to call them out as insurrectionists and turn the narrative on their heads (who of any national figure ever had more cause or was in a better position to do so) but averred and bowed out gracefully. Maybe it was the smarter move long term. But time is running out. "Long term" no longer obtains.

I hope DeSantis can up his game.

49 Good Morning, Horde!

Amidst all the ongoing stupidity, remember that things are finally moving our way. The left's plans are crumbling and they don't know how to stop it other than scream and shout.

Independence Day is a great time to remember that ultimately political power flows from the will of the people, and all the force in the world can't save a regime that has lost its legitimacy.

To put it another way, we should watch the Dems try to thwart the courts, pass pathetically stupid laws and call for revolution because that tells ordinary Americans that they are NOT legitimate. They can't go on about 'a return to normal' and they declare the Supreme Court now invalid.

Gun control is a loser in rural areas, so she pretends to hate it. Given a different electorate, she's all for it.

Agreed. Put simply, the courts can't supervise enforcement of a law an administration doesn't like. Back in the 70s you saw judges take over municipal services via consent orders and it was unconstitutional as hell.

Biden fought border security all the way. He owns it, as does his party, which has refused to get the guts and just vote to repeal the law.

Well, now they've gone on record. Another win for us.

Of course, Iran has a hit team in the US. Probably, a few along with multiple moles and saboteurs.

The border is totally open, baby! Send us your worst seems to be the Democrat message. And the other countries are saying, "Thanky, we will."

Not every gov't in the world is as stupid, incompetent, and self-hating as the one run by Slow Joe and the Democrats,

our enemies and some of our "friends" wouldn't be doing their jobs if they didn't take advantage of our all-open, stroll right in border.

So, Iran, Russia, China, North Korea, Pakistan, Ukraine(?), and any fun-sized, punk-ass dictatorship that thinks they might be paid a visit by the US military or not like our election choices will almost certainly have loaded us up with hit teams and saboteurs. It's the smart thing to do.

---
The 14th Amendment put certain limits on the ability of states to curb individual freedom, so it isn't an issue of State's Rights.

Also, the Constitution guarantees all citizens a "republican" form of government. If a state altered its Constitution so as to abolish that form of government, that would also become a federal issue.

I think the next step is a lawsuit, summary judgement without even a hearing and at some point, individual officials will be sued for their infringement on rights.

We're seeing this on college campuses where repeat offenders lose official immunity and can be sued personally.

It's harder work but is actually being done now by brave men and women. Our work is being done with love, love of America and our fellow Americans.

The Democrats say "Build Back Better" but it's all about tearing everything down, and sowing poverty, privation, and discard while they do it. It's the easier job. And it's done with hate...hate for America and for their fellow Americans. They are riddled with anger, hatred and insanity. They also have power. It's a potent combination. In a Pfizer whistle-blower lawsuit, Pfizer said it should not be held liable for all the lies in the papers it submitted to get emergency use authorization for its covid "vaccine," because the government knew about the lies, and even instructed Pfizer to lie.

CDC scientists repeatedly assured the public last year that the covid vaccines could not change human DNA because the vaccines could not penetrate the cell nucleus. Italian scientists subsequently proved that was a lie. Experiments with human liver cells showed that the vaccines penetrated the cell nucleus, and started changing cell DNA within 6 hours.

Wait one - was T. the exact right size to have that happen or, was there just a bit of extra left in the crematorium furnace? Or worse, not quite enough and someone else's 'a little too much' was added to her box to make it 'just right'?

The murder of Jose Calvo Sotelo by a policeman was the immediate cause of the Spanish Civil War. Calvo Sotelo was a leading figure on the center-right and possessed parliamentary immunity. The police had no right to detain him, let alone kill him.

That was the unmistakeable signal that the Second Republic was dead, and that was the moment Franco threw in with the conspirators. Within days Spain was in a state of civil war.

I don't think so. The left is so far gone, they will brag about it. Heck, they couldn't even shut up about stealing the election even as they constituted the J6 sham committee.

People think there's still some residual core of hardened, ruthlessly competent experts running the show on the left. No, they are lurching all over the place, fighting for the steering wheel. Even the 2020 election happened partly by accident and succeeded only because so many GOP lawmakers simply could not wrap their brains around what happened.

I know some of them. Their brains just locked up. Even when evidence emerged, they shook their heads because *that can't happen here.*

But the left is making it clear (because they all want a trophy!) that yes, it happened, and it will happen again because they are so Super Smart.

Yep. Every state west of the Mississippi needs to re-evaluate just how much lands the feds own in their states. Then use eminent domain or some other legal justification for reclaiming control over those territories.

Then *lease* the lands back to the feds, subject to periodic renewal (say every ten years), for a modest fee, of course...

When the Indians gave it up, it went to the feds, who then got rid of it. The Homestead Act, for example.

Some went to the railroads so they could finance their expansion with the land proceeds.

The problem is that the west has a lot of land that just doesn't work for small farms. You don't see much federal land east of the Mississippi because smaller farms are practical. The parts of Michigan that are federal are the most remote parts, generally heavily forested. The timber was useful, but not enough to buy the land.

Many have stated for years that the Left will push for normalization of pedophilia. And I think this is how they are doing it. First start with the sexualization of children as they are doing through grooming. In addition to that, state that children are mature enough to know they are "transgender". Next, it is an easy jump for them to state that children are mature enough to make more decisions about their sexuality and have sexual relations with adults.

And anyone who points this out is either silenced and censored or their life destroyed by the alphabet soup mafia (i.e. the attacks and smears against LibsOfTikTok, banning of Jordan Peterson, attacks against JK Rowling, etc).

Sick, evil and scary times we live in.

Your argument begs the question. We've seen no evidence of any competence at any time. There have been multiple opportunities for the left to make a smart - even devastating play - and without exception they have fumbled these away.

Thus the argument that there's some sort of ruthless "A-Team" lurking in the background is pure supposition, akin to the "the fact that we can't see them proves that they are there" line of reasoning.

The fallback position is of course that the goal is to just spread chaos, which again cannot be proven or disproven because every time something happens, one can respond "yep, they meant for that to happen."

Conservatives Waffle on Abortion and Women's Accountability

Interesting article with great points made. Takes on all the current supposedly top conservative talking heads at The Daily Wire: Jeremy Boreing, Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles, Matt Walsh, Candace Owens.

She hits it on the head here. Conservatives are too afraid of holding women accountable for their evil decisions:

Or is it simply because, like many people in our society, conservatives are unable to admit the reality of female evil: that hundreds of thousands of women every year in America make the decision to kill their unborn children not under duress or out of fear or because they were lied to but for reasons of convenience, selfishness, and gross indifference to the life within them.

Except that there is opposition, and its gaining strength. The left doesn't just want pure chaos, it wants abortion on demand, it was to police pronouns - it wants lots of things that only an ordered society can support.

Because of its gross ineptitude, it's undermining the very institutions it spent decades taking over.

Yes, I get it: you can always say "they meant that to happen," but that argument also implies that no form of resistance can ever be successful because whatever subsequently happens was *also* part of the plan.

And it will be a bad one. A solution, of sorts. A final one, if you will.

Thus the argument that there's some sort of ruthless "A-Team" lurking in the background is pure supposition, akin to the "the fact that we can't see them proves that they are there" line of reasoning.

They meet regularly at Davos. They planned the Covid Plannedemic, and succeeded beyond their wildest dreams even though the C19 wasn't as lethal as advertised by its makers. We now know that Blackrock's guy is the ESG specialist who is providing guidance to the Junta in the systemic destruction of the energy sector within the White House. The coup already happened in 2020. That was pulled off by the Deep State: Democrats and Republican establishment. But they succeeded in completely hiding that fact and immediately flipping the narrative with the Deep State operation on January 6, 2021. Instead of people talking about the obvious rigged and stolen election, the narrative was about an "insurrection".

I have no idea how the left can be defeated when they control every institution in the country and every institution of information dissemination in the country. And then have the power to control every narrative and censor all opposing narratives.

I think that there are many simultaneous plans. They could be well planned or nailing Jell-o to the wall, there are a lot of narcissists who have their own agenda and their own following and sponsors. Maybe. But I think they've figured out that they can't simply subsidize their way to "green energy". Because they've tried and failed over and over again. And if they thought that was all it took - they'd be doing it now, on a massive WWII scale.

If this was simply a greed or control play, that would be one thing. And of course, there is some greed and control in this, for those positioned to feed at the trough. But that doesn't explain the 95% of the political class that is moving with this yet have no direct, immediate gain to be had.
