Weight. Cutting down hay and other crops is not easy work. The heavier the blade the more power per swing with less work.

222 You'll notice that the snath is straight. Improved scythes have a curved handle that allows more of the muscles of both arms the and mid-section to come into play. Thinner blades may be due to the use of steel over iron.

Snathes are made by crofters, who hobble trees to produce the curved limbs used to shave those graceful curved shapes. It was a high-tech skilled profession.

Interesting. I always enjoy finding out how things used to be done and the complex society necessary to produce things. I mean, it isn't like you could take someone today, plop him down in a field of wheat, and say "build a scythe".

I doubt our greenies will accept this. They're totalitarian Luddites. They won't accept any solution to the bogus "carbon problem" unless it destroys the economy and reduces the middle class to serfdom.

If one accepts that it's necessary to convert to electricity for transportation energy (I do not accept that.), then CNG is a workable transition technology that both powers our vehicles and provides time for development of a huge nuclear power industry.

But again, converting to electricity isn't really the greenies' goal--it's a means to an end that has nothing to do with either energy or the environment.

Well that's a nice yarn but really not plausible.

When Nelson came back to England, Lady Hamilton's husband, him, and Emma formed a throuple in Sir Wiiliam's posh townhome around Piccadilly.

Nelson also set up his mistress in a country manor, so the need for clandestine meetings at the docks was really not apparent.

Father Of July Fourth Shooter Helped Son Buy Firearm Just Two Months After Cops Took Away His Collection Of Knives When He Threatened To 'Kill Everyone'

The parents of Highland Park shooter Robert 'Bobby' Crimo III, 21, have finally spoken out about their son's heinous actions -- and branded them a 'tragedy' -- after it emerged the shooter's dad helped him buy a gun despite cops earlier removing a weapon from him.

Bob Crimo and his wife, Denise, said in a brief statement: "We are all mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, and this is a terrible tragedy for many families, the victims, the paradegoers, the community, and our own. Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to everybody."

But it emerged on Tuesday that Bob Crimo had sponsored his killer son's application for a gun permit in 2020, even after the murderer had threatened to kill himself and his family.

"For Nelson, any form of concealment was completely against his nature. He wanted to live with Emma openly. Remarkably, with Sir William's compliance he achieved this, though their scandalous but close three-way friendship was publically mocked by caricaturists like James Gillray. In the autumn of 1801 Emma arranged the purchase for Nelson of a house in Merton in Surrey, and there the three of them often lived together, until Sir William died in April 1803. During these happy 18 months, Nelson's relationship with Emma appears to have matured from a passionate affair into a quasi-marriage."

387 It's kind of easy to figure out what they were trying to do, compared to what they say they were trying to do. Kind of like now.

One angle that is fairly established is the "manchurian candidate" kind of assassin. They discovered that trauma inflicted on toddlers is the most effective (real standup guys, huh?).

The idea (apparently) was to create "dual" personalities, people who could be hypnotized and perform atrocities and have no recollection of same. Or create false memories, and erase genuine memories. "Download" top secret info that could not be divulged even after torture, yet retrieved when necessary.

The L.S.D. stuff is too weird to be believed. What is clear is almost the whole 60s counterculture were on the payroll at one time. Leary. Ken Kesey. Kacinski, all sorts of famous people. In hindsight it's obvious they they did lots of research in the 50s at the universities and then deployed it in the 60s, particularly California. Lots of "safe houses" and hippie hangouts were run by CIA.

They destroyed most of the documents by orders of the CIA chief, Richard Helms or whoever.

403 Father Of July Fourth Shooter Helped Son Buy Firearm Just Two Months After Cops Took Away His Collection Of Knives When He Threatened To 'Kill Everyone'
____________

Seems kinda weird. Dad had to know that his son was a bit off. Why would he help the kid buy a gun, especially after he had threatened to kill his family?

Or was Dad hoping he'd do something like that? There was a sad case many years ago in the D.C. area, where a bank VP with a loony wife had deliberately left a loaded shotgun under the marital bed when he went out of town. The wife had repeatedly threatened suicide while blaming the husband for all her troubles, and the husband decided to give her a helpful nudge by leaving the loaded gun for her. Unfortunately for the husband, the wife decided to shoot their young daughter before turning the gun on herself. The wife survived her gunshot wound, the little girl did not.
