First-World Problems...

Woe is me! There are two crises that are overwhelming the normally even-tempered and staid denizens of Chez Dildo.

Yeah; that is one of the string of sort-of-Edison-bulbs hanging over the patio. But this one is directly above the grill, and it's dirty! What the hell? It's nine feet off the ground. Will I need supplemental oxygen to get up there and clean it?

dimbulb.jpg

And look what I found after pondering the unimaginable complexities of a dirty bulb! Yes, that is a broken hinge. But it is riveted into the frame and the door so it is not easily replaced. It still works, but for how long?

craphinge.jpg

I have to go lie down...the pressures of these existential problems are too much for me.

If it's your fault, you will have to pay an extra $100.00 for the "Hinge Repair Permit" and hire a licensed general contractor to remove and replace the whole enclosure the door and broken hinge was part of. EPA and OSHA disposal costs will also have to be paid by you. However, your going to jail for the old rayciss Edison type light bulb so no worries until your jail term is up. I accomplished a number of small drywall repairs all on one expanse of wall. My surface prep was first rate if I do say so myself. Primed the repairs and through Sherlock Holmes like investigatory work, was able to deduce the exact existing paint color. Sherwin Williams mixed me up a batch post haste.

Came home, and rolled the repaired areas.

After it dried - No Bueno. I told the paint guy the incorrect sheen for the old paint job. You can tell.

Womp womp.

The golf courses use recycled water (marked non-potable).
Here a developer didn't want to put in a golf-course that had been in the original plans.
A judge told them that they had to put in the course to handle the water recycled from their community (evaporation is real here).

San Diego has plenty of water. On their own, they built plenty of water storage and also have desalination.

A company has tried for a long time to build a desalination plant in CA. CA coastal commission seems to have put the final nail in the coffin of that project.

CA's water problems can be solved. CA politicians, however, do not want to solve that problem. CA politicians prefer to solve problems that don't exist, with stuff like high speed rail. Rail, I might add, which uses electricity not produced in CA.

Two years later, the eggs started sticking to the sides of the cups. Then the cups started sinking and I was back to the cooked egg white on side of pan issue. I finally gritted my teeth and bought the cheapest two egg poacher I could find. End of my problems? No. The two cups barely hold large eggs. It still leaves a little of the egg white uncooked while the yolks are half cooked. And it's hard getting those damn little cups out of the pan!

I mis-timed some boiled eggs this week and they're way undercooked, disgustingly gelatinous. Egg salad is the only way I can stand them.

322 The only way I'm gonna get anything done around here is to make copious lists that break down each task to about 15 minutes.

The only exception is weeding six or seven hundred feet of garden rows (that's just a rough estimate).

Also, we need rain.

Does this count as a first world problem?

326 I'm almost afeer'd to ask: what is the other end of that string of bulbs attached to? Because most strings of bulbs are set up so that you can just un-string them, and clean them or replace some right on the ground, as you will, when necessary. Hope that doesn't spoil it.

Our service today was ... different.

We had prayers of repentance for the sins of the nation and the sins of the church. We know God forgives sin and restores His people. This was definitely a different mood than in years past -- we have officially faced the fact that things are looking bad.

I'm not saying we've been burying our heads in the sand up until now, but we just hadn't expressed it quite like this before.

342 My bad tire was a broken valve stem. Twas on the drivers side and horse was tied on passenger side when we got there. Tire was worn enough I figured the valve stem had dry rot and the whole tire should be replaced. Its a day use trailer, that was probably the oldest tire, or it is a tie with the tire I had for a spare.

I have 3 decent looking tires. I think I'll just keep the new as the spare and when I need to replace next one I'll just put both shorter fatter tires on the same axle and call that good. Internet says that 225/75 is the closest size tire but 215/90 probably would have been closer on sidewall height. But sticking with the very common 225/75 size will probably allow easiest replacements. If you can drive a car on a donut spare; it shouldn't hurt to tow the trailer an hour with one tire shorter to get home.
