The Morning Report — 6/30/22

woodywilliamsrip.jpg

Good morning, kids. Thursday and just like that 2022 is half over. I want to start off today with a story that at first glance might not seem relevant to what's going on but IMHO is connected directly and profoundly. Yesterday, a man named Hershel "Woody" Williams passed away at the age of 98. Some of you may recognize his name while, sadly, far too many in this country do not.

The President of the United States in the name of The Congress takes pleasure in presenting the MEDAL OF HONOR to CORPORAL HERSHEL W. WILLIAMS
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS RESERVE for service as set forth in the following CITATION:

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty as Demolition Sergeant serving with the First Battalion, Twenty-First Marines, Third Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Island, 23 February 1945. Quick to volunteer his services when our tanks were maneuvering vainly to open a lane for the infantry through the network of reinforced concrete pillboxes, buried mines and black, volcanic sands, Corporal Williams daringly went forward alone to attempt the reduction of devastating machine-gun fire from the unyielding positions. Covered only by four riflemen, he fought desperately for four hours under terrific enemy small-arms fire and repeatedly returned to his own lines to prepare demolition charges and obtain serviced flame throwers, struggling back, frequently to the rear of hostile emplacements, to wipe out one position after another. On one occasion he daringly mounted a pillbox to insert the nozzle of his flame thrower through the air vent, kill the occupants and silence the gun; on another he grimly charged enemy riflemen who attempted to stop him with bayonets and destroyed them with a burst of flame from his weapon. His unyielding determination and extraordinary heroism in the face of ruthless enemy resistance were directly instrumental in neutralizing one of the most fanatically defended Japanese strong points encountered by his regiment and aided in enabling his company to reach its' [sic] objective. Corporal Williams' aggressive fighting spirit and valiant devotion to duty throughout this fiercely contested action sustain and enhance the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service

I can't imagine what he and every other person who survived hell on earth to preserve the future for their kids and grandkids must have felt seeing their sacrifices pissed away to spawn the very same tyranny right here at home that they shed blood to defeat. Woody Williams was the last surviving World War Two era Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, and has now passed into history. Along with those of us who either know or don't know his story, there are those who are hell bent on erasing it altogether. Why? Because the tiniest spark of the American spirit that exists in an ocean of totalitarian darkness poses an existential threat to their power. George Orwell said, "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

Replacement theory is more than just importing millions of aliens from other countries and cultures and intentionally not assimilating them. It's lobotomizing our heritage, history and culture — our collective memory — and replacing it with something completely alien, antithetical and completely false. Given the state of academia in this country, when the last World War 2 veteran passes into history, or even when people like me already approaching senior citizen status go, the words Omaha Beach, Peleliu and Einsatzgruppen along with the Gettysburg Address and "shall not be infringed" will be complete gibberish to our children and grandchildren. That is, if the "Disinformation Governance Board," even allows them to be uttered at all under penalty of a fine or imprisonment or both. Worse, our children and our grandchildren acting as the eyes and ears of the regime to report seditious and treasonous "hate speech."

Not having children wasn't a conscious choice on my part but just the way things turned out in my personal life. Given the trajectory of this country and the world since 9/11, I am grateful for that. It's bad enough they would have to suffer in an America turned into a socialist police state, but the thought of them becoming an enthusiastic part of the ruling elite is just too hateful to contemplate.

Hail and farewell to Hershel "Woody" Williams. Here's hoping that his spirit still lives on in the generations that he and so many others sacrificed for. I think it does.

RIP and Semper Fi.

One more before work, this one not in the book -

Coolidge once received a portrait from an admirer which was so bad, all he could think of was to stuff it in a closet. One day a friend came to visit and asked Cal what was new.

Coolidge took him to the closet and opened the door. The friend stared aghast at the awful painting and after a moment, Coolidge closed the door.

"That's what I think, too," he said.

Well that is actually the comparison. Hillary was politically ambitious, maybe even more so than Bill. Michelle is not that at all. She loves the trappings of power but doesn't want to be the one putting forth any of the effort to gain that money and status. Kamala is who the Democrats wish Michelle was. *

As has been pointed out here before (Mannix iirc), this is what happens in a low trust society, and we've been intentionally moved to that. No one would have believed food factories were being intentionally targeted, destroyed, and not investigated ten years ago.

Now, after watching what absolutely happened with antifa, the injection, and the election, it's not a stretch to go immediately there when you hear about it.

Not really. He was actually willing to go out their and campaign. To stutter and stammer his way through a teleprompter. To get into the state legislature, to run for US Senate, to become president. Without Michelle he likely still winds up there. 73 In the left-wing mind, the buffoonish Capitol riot on January 6 was an "insurrection."

Yet the much larger May 31, 2020, riot that sought to storm the White House grounds and sent the president into a bunker was the sort of mob violence that "was not going to stop" in the words of now Vice President Kamala Harris.

VDH reminds us of the actually dangerous riot, one that Liz Cheney never condemned. One that Democrats actually applauded. Like when Democrat activist and friend-of-Durbin James Hodgkinson tried to mass murder the Republican Congressional caucus, Democrats were (and are) silent or encouraging, rather than upset. Stark reminder of how dangerous Democrats are.

If she runs in '24, without considering cheating, she loses by a mile.

Everything about the country will still be in the toilet. The GOP nominee can attack her without attacking her by pointing out that Biden's policies are her policies. Her husband accomplished nothing good during his tenure, nothing good during Biden's tenure, the idea that she has wildly different policy goals which will suddenly fix things will be a step too far even for the mind-numbed to take.

There's a bit more time than that left, but the clock is winding down nonetheless. The War made the world as it was until about five years ago. The Postwar Order is now in the process of collapsing. Until that order is fully converted into whatever comes out of the ashes, the structures and knowledge of it and what it meant will, at least to some degree, remain. It's the silencing that helps it to die.

There are at least a hundred million people in this country - likely many more, not to mention the rest of the world - who do know these things. When they are silenced and punished for expressing that knowledge, however, their children will *not* know it.

And that is how you kill an idea.

Orwell got this right. 1984 is a valuable read in its entirety, but the most valuable part of that book is tacked on to the end, in his appendix "The Principles of Newspeak."

The purpose of Newspeak was not only to provide a medium of expression for the world-view and mental habits proper to the devotees of Ingsoc, but to make all other modes of thought impossible. ...
{The preamble to the Declaration} ... would have been quite impossible to render this into Newspeak while keeping to the sense of the original. The nearest one could come to doing so would be to swallow the whole passage up in the single word: crimethink. A full translation could only be an ideological translation, whereby Jefferson's words would be changed into a panegyric on absolute government.

It was, indeed, an instruction manual.

Both sides have moved, especially if the comparison point is the early 2000s. The 90s were a time of political convergence after the fall of the USSR. The re-divergence began in earnest after 2008, thanks in large part (I think) to the post-9/11 wars and economic crackup.

What you said here is true, but likewise if you were to go back to 2002 and ask the average conservative if he thought that free trade should not be curtailed unless it was symmetrical, or asked him if he thought that government agencies should be torn down wholesale, you'd also get different answers from today.

The left's moves have been much more dramatic and extreme because they've been entirely tyrannical, but the right has moved, too - ironically, into a position occupied by the liberals pre-Reagan on several key factors like trade and immigration.

138 Good morning everyone. Thank you J.J.

Saint of the Day
Bl. Gennaro Sarnelli (1702 -- 1744) was born to a noble family in Naples, Italy. He was very well educated, and completed his doctorate in civil and canon law at the age of 20. He gave much of his time to caring for the incurably sick, through which he discerned a call to the priesthood. He became good friends with St. Alphonsus Liguori, founder of the Redemptorists. Shortly afterward, Blessed Gennaro became a Redemptorist priest. Gennaro's special work was preaching to those who were the most spiritually deprived, while also caring for the temporal needs of impoverished children. He was a great defender of the dignity of women, and worked intensely to free women and girls from forced prostitution. Blessed Gennaro was also a talented writer, penning over 30 books ranging in subjects such as theology, law, prayer, spiritual direction, and contemporary moral issues. He worked so hard that his health suffered, and he died when he was only 42 years old. He was beatified by Pope St. John Paul II in 1996. His feast day is June 30.

By '24, this country is going to be in such terrible shape. The Democrat party is so far left on every issue now that it's impossible to not be surrounded by it. They've gone so far over the deep end that it's now affecting every family, from the targeting of children to removing every drop of fossil fuel energy making our lives comfortable and easy. Of course, there are many more things they're doing that can no longer be hidden because we're all being affected. And that agenda is not popular with a vast majority of people. 159 Democrats, though, are enamored of the police state. Obama spied on both the Senate and on journalists. Then, probably heartened by the minimal pushback, he authorized spying on a presidential candidate--and got away with it.

No wonder, then, that the Biden Department of Justice feels that it can raid the homes of politicians, political operatives, and journalists, smashing their doors, leaving them humiliated on the sidewalk, tossing the contents of their houses, and stealing all of their electronic devices, or that it can arrest people close to Trump, always making sure to do so in the most humiliating, demeaning way possible, and without even bothering to show the warrants authorizing this police activity.

How far from the reality described in this article, and on Tuckers show, to mass arrests?

It's why the only important races are state level races this year.

We flip MI, PA, NM, hell anything, and we can put pressure on state legislatures and governors to pass election integrity measures that will blunt a lot of the previous methods of cheating while, potentially, heading off any others.

The fed GOP-led Congress is going to be worthless. The state level GOP-led legislatures could be useful.

And there's the crux of the problem. If there is a Trump or DeSantis presidency (which I do not for a moment believe will happen), anyone participating in these raids needs to be arrested, jailed and, IMO, executed.

But that would require a GOP congress ready to back up a POTUS. Instead, all we have and all we will get is a congress of Ted Cruzes, crawling on their bellies to award medals of bravery to the capitol police.

But I think things are different now from when Barry was essentially given a pass in '08 and when he faced a weak candidate in '12.

Too many people know who and what that asshoe and his wife really represent now. Big Mike couldn't run away from the failed leftist policies. He/Him couldn't even pretend to be a "uniter" no matter how good the speechwriter.

And besides the fawning media media and LIV's who will vote for He/Him regardless, the unlikability factor has to be high for independents.

Joe Mannix had a good post a few months ago about how little resistance to almost any Biden nominee the GOP in the Senate had offered, especially in comparison to Democrats over Trump's term.

They will make the occasional stink on the occasional nominee, but they'll quietly pass most nominations with at least a dozen votes of support.

This is my take. It is true that the Republicans are not in power. They cannot pass bills or break vetoes. But that doesn't mean there is nothing they can do.

They have a pulpit. They refuse to use it. They can obstruct. The can deny quorums. They can fillibuster unrelated legislation. They can go on TV and shout about it and say hard truths in plain language. They can use every moment of time in all venues to pound the table about the rank criminality of the administration and use every parliamentary trick in the book to obstruct its progress. Forget the "Party of No." They can - and should have, long ago - become the "Party of Fuck You."

They haven't. They won't. They don't want to. They're not in the opposition.

Take it to the next level how the world sees it:
They look at a heavily armed America and see her in Full Coward mode. We talk shit and cower in fear of reprisal. We are all beaten dogs that bark until the master's hand is seen and we cower and whimper.

So the junta sees this as Universal, and feels that by politicizing SWIFT they can bully around sovereign nations. Its sort of like politicizing the Panama Canal - some things you just don't do.

Then the nations say Screw That, and abandon America because they aren't a whipped dog. And that is why India is buying record amounts of Russian coal using the Chinese Yuan as the instrument of trade.

BRICS have balls, while Americants take it up the ass.

That picture of Hunter's teeth looks to me that they were ground down to make way for veneers (most likely) or maybe crowns. The pic was taken in what looks like a dentist's office so that's what makes me believe the damage was not meth mouth, rather part of his dental work. NGU will know.

303 Some random good news for the morning: U.S. newspapers continuing to die at rate of 2 each week

The country had 6,377 newspapers at the end of May, down from 8,891 in 2005, the report said. While the pandemic didn’t quite cause the reckoning that some in the industry feared, 360 newspapers have shut down since the end of 2019, all but 24 of them weeklies serving small communities.

An estimated 75,000 journalists worked in newspapers in 2006, and now that’s down to 31,000, Northwestern said. Annual newspaper revenue slipped from $50 billion to $21 billion in the same period.

Oddly, no mention of the drop in public trust due to incredible bias as a reason. They lament "news deserts", but sounds like freedom from misinformation to me.

334 West Virginia v. EPA (opinion still not released)

The court could limit a federal agency’s ability to expand its powers beyond anything explicitly written out in law by Congress. Thanks to a 1984 doctrine called the “Chevron deference,” courts generally defer to a federal agency’s expertise in interpreting more ambiguous statutes. So, even if CO2 isn’t explicitly written about in the 1970 Clean Air Act, under this doctrine, the EPA might decide that it makes sense to tackle greenhouse gas pollution given today’s climate crisis.

The Supreme Court might instead seek to strengthen the “major questions doctrine,” which says that the court doesn’t need to give deference to federal agencies in matters of major national significance that Congress has yet to explicitly write into legislation.

These people in politics hold onto power because they want the perks and the salary and like to be in charge, but com'on, how many of them have some dementia of some stage. What a disservice to their constituents. And a broken hip is a big thing particularly for older people. Retire and go back to the lovely state of VT, Pat.

375 zerohedge: at the current record pace of SPR drainage, one way or another the Biden admin will have to end its artificial attempts to keep the price of oil lower some time in October (or risk entering a war with China over Taiwan with virtually no oil reserve). This means that unless Putin ends his war some time in the next 5 months, there is a non-trivial chance that oil will hit a record price around $200 – precisely the price the White House is bracing for – a few days before the midterms. Which translates into $10+ gasoline.

And while one can speculate how much longer Democrats can continue the "Jan 6" dog and pony show as the entire economy implodes around them, how America will vote in November when gas is double digits should not be a mystery to anyone.

377 Consider the possibility the GOP is so compromised by their corruption that the left has the entire party (perhaps not the MAGA types) on a really short leash. They've been instructed to toe the line. Or else.

Consider? That is the fundamental underlying premise to guessing what fresh treachery these criminals will hatch next.

We MUST break the paradigm of thinking that all things must originate in Babylon DC. The rest of the world is walking away from the former United States. Quit acting like a beaten wife who keeps coming back to the abusive husband hoping that maybe while he isn't full drunk will stop beating her.

I have zero doubts. It doesn't matter, though. "They really don't like doing this, but they have to because they have to cover up their corruption and it will be exposed if they don't and they're not really devil-worshipers, they're just being blackmailed" isn't a very good argument.

This is the point of mutual blackmail, and is one of the reasons I think kiddy-diddling is so endemic among our elite. It's the price of admission. You do the bad things or you don't get power, and you do those bad things so you enter the web of omnidirectional blackmail potential.

400 Ok, I read the "smoke and mirrors" article and while I agree with the fires being par for the course, the poultry slaughter is another story.

From what I have read and heard, they are using pcr tests and just show up (often around slaughter time) and run a test on a chicken and if they manage a positive test, they slaughter all of the birds. Even when there are no symptoms of bird flu.

Now, if this is a lie, I would like to see it de-bunked, but knowing what we know about how they abused the pcr to fake a pandemic.......

RE: having children

My 19-yr-old twin sons cast their first vote on Tuesday, in the IL-15 GOP primary.

Their votes helped to retire RINO Rep. Rodney Davis (R-inc), & elect VERY MAGA, Trump-endorsed Mary Miller (R-inc), to a newly- created open seat, in which 2 GOP incumbents fought it out.

I've never been more proud of them! What a great way to learn that their votes count.

Scratch one j6-loving RINO, btw.

Obama's people, before the election in 2012 calculated on a precinct by precinct basis nation wide, exactly what precincts he needed to win, and by exactly what margin he needed to win them, in order to win re-election. He won every one of those precincts, by exactly the margin he needed to win them. You do the math.

407 The Democrats could Jurassic Park Adolph Hitler, run him for president and win. Hillary, AOC, Bernie, Manchin, Gabbard or Pennywise from Stephen Kings It, they will win. They stole an election. They bragged about it in a Time magazine editorial rubbing our faces in it. They are beginning to arrest political opponents and promote the assassination of Supreme Court justices. They are in the process of making our political speech and philosophy ILLEGAL. They disobey the law and are not above using it against you. The Democrats if they choose to can run whoever the hell they want and win. What laws and what state is going to stop them, who will enforce it?

408 "Not having children wasn't a conscious choice on my part but just the way things turned out in my personal life. Given the trajectory of this country and the world since 9/11, I am grateful for that. It's bad enough they would have to suffer in an America turned into a socialist police state, but the thought of them becoming an enthusiastic part of the ruling elite is just too hateful to contemplate."

With kids of my own, I understand the fear. The problem with this thinking, and its offshoot "don't join the woke military," is that then we get Idiocracy.

If the thought of having children in this society makes you sick to your stomach, you're exactly the sort of person who should be having them and training them in the way they should go.

409 "Democrats Are Fooling Themselves on the Popularity of Abortion"

I think a lot of people on the right are fooling themselves about the "un"-popularity of it, also.

Last I checked, thevast majority of disagreements center around when abortion should no longer be allowed, as in "what phase of gestation". lots of dems think "pretty much whenever" and that's the fringe. And that fringe is what people disagree with.

But there's a lot of studies out there indicating as much as 73% of Americans agree that abortion should be legal to a point (like first trimester, or danger to the mother, etc). So these laws going into effect outlawing it for pretty much any reason are going to splatter back on republicans. We need to be careful here, and recognize that "no abortion, ever" is also a fringe opinion in this country, and make sure that prohibitions against it are more carefully drafted than, say, what Oklahoma is doing now.
