46 Illegal Aliens Perish In the Back of a Tractor-Trailer Crossing Border

A dozen more were hospitalized from heat exhaustion.

At least 46 undocumented migrants were found dead in a tractor-trailer in San Antonio, Texas and more than a dozen were hospitalized, authorities said.

Two of those taken to a hospital later died, officials said, bringing the total death toll to 48.

Crews were at the 9600 block of Quintana Road where an 18-wheeler containing up to 100 migrants inside was found abandoned, Fox San Antonio reported. The discovery is part of what is believed to be a human smuggling operation.

...

Authorities at the scene confirmed 46 individuals were found deceased, none of which were children. Officials did not say whether the individuals had migrated from Mexico or elsewhere.
...

"We hope those responsible for putting these people in such inhumane conditions are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," the mayor said.

...

McManus clarified the tractor-trailer was refrigerated, however, the refrigeration system was not functioning.

He also said there was no drinkable water found inside the trailer.

...

Rep. Tony Gonzales, a Republican who represents Texas, tweeted about the incident.

"Today in San Antonio it was 102 degrees. Imagine being abandoned inside an 18-wheeler left to die - 42 people died today - will @AliMayorkas even mention their names?"

"At Least 42 People Found Dead Inside Truck Carrying Migrants In Texas. These deaths are on Biden," Abbott tweeted Monday evening. "They are a result of his deadly open border policies. They show the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law."

America's Smartest Woman Karine Jean-Pierre immediately declared that the border is closed.

Charlie Spiering
@charliespiering
"The fact of the matter is the border is closed," says Karine Jean-Pierre in response to Republican criticism of Biden's border security policies causing death of 46 migrants.

Far worse, in my opinion, is yet another corporate shill fake conservative NeverTrumper -- Tim Carney, paid by a Koch property and a longtime Conservative, Inc. shill now working as an editor for the liberal billionaire who used to own the Weekly Standard -- says "Hey, I'm not an open borders guy, but it sure seems to me that Open Borders would solve all of these problems at the border! What do you think, Fellow Conservatives?!"

Screenshot (2423).png

Hey Tim Carney, editor of the corporate libertarian Washington Examiner: If Biden was deporting illegals who made it into the interior of the country instead of letting them remain here forever, then there would be no incentive to sneak across the border, would there?

The problem is not border enforcement at all. The problem is Biden's Potemkin Border Enforcement.

I'm so tired of these left-liberal corporate libertarians who have been put into virtually all positions of power in Conservative, Inc., because the money men are left-liberal corporate libertarians and also have an intense personal distaste for actual conservatism. So they push corporate libertarianism as an acceptable, tolerable form of "conservatism," while insisting it is actually True Conservatism, you bigots.

Tim Carney, you are "an open borders guy."

This is what angers me: I don't mind that people have different political beliefs.

What I mind is that people lie about their political beliefs in order to undermine conservatives and divert them away from conservative goals.

In other words: What I hate are NeverTrumper shills in Conservative, Inc.

If Carney wants to just admit what his real beliefs on immigration are and have an honest debate about his corporate libertarian belief that Borders Are a Lie, then we can have that debate.

But he doesn't want to admit that. He wants to continue pretending he's a conservative because, while corporate libertarianism has almost all of the money behind it, it has very little audience.

They pretend to be conservatives because the audience for conservatism dwarfs the audience for corporate libertarianism.

And, of course, because the corporate libertarians want to Con the Rubes into supporting a left-liberal corporate libertarianism.

As I keep saying: It is on this issue, and their squeamishness of enforcing the border and deporting illegal aliens (they are cosmopolitan urban liberals, and they think it's racist to do this), that NeverTrump broke from the Republican Party on, and not on Trump's "mean tweets" or "unacceptable personal characteristics."

Again, they did not like those. (But most of NeverTrump are real punkmouths on Twitter themselves.)

But the real cause of the schism was on immigration. They are pro-Open-Borders but absolutely refuse to admit that, choosing instead Tim Carney's method of, "Say, just asking questions here, but wouldn't Open Borders solve all of America's problems, Fellow Conservatives?"

They don't want to admit they are on the far left on the border issue because they would lose their influence and their grift and their entire capacity to Con the Rubes, which is what puts food on their well-laden tables.

More or less plucked the words out of my brain with this. If we had open borders, this wouldn't happen but if we had closed borders it also wouldn't happen. What we have - a hypothetically closed border that is actually extremely porous if you happen to be part of a complex web of interconnected cartels and NGOs - acts as an incentive for the creation and maintenance of trafficking operations, and increases profit potential with scale and density.

Our border policy is a chimera that results in the worst possible system of incentives and disincentives, and there is a monumental human cost for everyone involved from the trafficked alien slave to his family-members-cum-hostages back home, to our domestic communities, to our government budgets, etc. An actual open border would actually improve some of this, but an actual controlled border improves all of it.

What a joke Carney and his cuck buddies are.

Lawlessness at the border and in immigration enforcement leads directly to this kind of thing - duh. Not arguable, obvious in every facet of life.

And again, the tiny unknown group of really dim pundits known as "NeverTrump" didn't stifle Trump's attempts to *being* restoring order at the border. They had zero impact.

The GOP, the elected, serving GOP Congress and its leadership, did this. Mostly passively (thus so many people, even here, astonishingly not understanding that their opposition was key), but also actively at times. Either way, THAT is the key reality. 80% of the country opposes open borders. And the GOP - whose presidential nomination was ripped away by an actual outsider, and an amazing event, due largely to this very issue - easily weathered the disruption.

Actively or passively, the country, including GOP voters who are so clueless, are getting what they want.

Exactly.

Step 3. Steak seasoning
Step 4. Unass the AO

87 This happens regularly, really. It's one of the reasons that Bush was promoting a guest worker program facilitating legal and documented ways to come to the US to work and then, presumably, go home again. Something easy enough that the traffickers fail from lack of demand for their services. Also a good way to sort out legitimate laborers from drug runners.

Not that he'd have managed that, even if 9-11 hadn't happened.

Our current system allows for 1.5 million people to legally immigrate per year, 100's of thousands of H1B, H2B, EB1 and EB2 tech and AG visas, 10s of thousands of refugees and asylum seekers, etc.

And this does not even take into account the 100s of thousands of people who come here illegally every year.

Meanwhile, even the NGOs closest to the subject (whose honesty and judgement, sadly, must obviously be seriously discounted, in general) have documented and screamed about the *massive* disaster of abuse of illegals transiting Mexico.

Not just the "death trains" (young people riding on top of freight trains to get north, falling to their deaths), which were a highlight of the insane summer of 2015, but the very high (70%?) of females estimated to have been abused in some way while en route.

The ignorant, unthinking moral narcissists in the suburbs who enable this horrible situation are just applying their unthinking, disastrous ignorance to one more policy area, with the usual results.

Add the dozens upon dozens dead from drug overdoses and gang violence, old Joe is getting up there is body count. He's not sorry for one bit of it, either.

Now, if he wants to do something, kick all the feds out of the area. Arrest those that don't leave. They are not law enforcement according to state law. They scream "racism" which implies that there are irreconcilable differences between people, then makes sure that these opposing forces must continually collide.

From WeirdDave's ONT, last Thursday. [New Yorker]

"There was always an element of the Republican Party that was batshit crazy,” Mac Stipanovich, the chief of staff to Governor Bob Martinez, a moderate Republican, told me. “They had lots of different names—they were John Birchers, they were ‘movement conservatives,’ they were the religious right. And we did what every other Republican candidate did: we exploited them. We got them to the polls. We talked about abortion. We promised—and we did nothing. They could grumble, but their choices were limited.
“So what happened?” Stipanovich continued. “Trump opened Pandora’s box and let them out. And all the nasty stuff that was in the underbelly of American politics got a voice. What was thirty-five per cent of the Republican Party is now eighty-five per cent. And it’s too late to turn back.”

China shot themselves in the feet on power generation, and they now have (or had, not sure if it's still happening over the past month or two) power shortages due fuel (high-quality coal) shortages due to political expedience (their pissing match with Australia).

The result is rolling blackouts. Factories have to idle for days at a time, homes maintain power more but have interruptions. Workforce, machinery, stores at idle and economic activity takes a beating. There's less money, because there's there's less production. What you used to produce in one week now takes ten days because you have to idle periodically to save power.

That experience is probably what will be closer to typical as the war on fuel progresses.

234 173 There is more to this story. I'm very skeptical that 102 degrees, even in the back of a truck, killed these people without some other intentional foul play. These are the same people that supposedly walk 500 miles (and then 500 more) in the broiling heat in bare feet. They are used to stifling, horrible conditions. And no children among the dead? I doubt that and if so then none of the illegals would ever survive even a short ride in a truck. Coyotes are evil but they're not stupid. They don't want dead illegals in the news. The trailer would have been ventilated at a minimum and water provided. I'm not saying that INTENTIONAL foul play could not have created lethal conditions. Remember - mass illegal migration strengthens and enriches the cartel factions in Mexico, greatly, at the expense of the Government Faction.

Labor costs are rising, and Xi is taking some steps to try to curtail that - namely, cracking down on service industries and high-tech/consumption-targeted activity to force those sectors to be smaller and free up workforce for manufacturing, which is increasingly unpopular and having to bid higher for labor.

Labor is a problem, and it will only grow, which is not unexpected as economic development progresses. It's a serious problem when your niche is labor-intensive industry and you don't develop out of that. Even beyond that, there's the fertility problem and the subsequent productivity problem as the workforce ages - and China's population is aging faster than any other in the world.

It's complicated as hell and I barely understand it, but their recent power problems are likely more illustrative than Sri Lanka's.

Polls, polls, polls. Who cares? Public policy polling is one of the more obvious scams in a country that is built entirely on universal mendacity.

True about rising labor costs. Chinese kept moving further and further away from main distribution hubs, but eventually ran out of backwater cities to exploit. Now significantly cheaper to make some stuff in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, etc. And good luck moving any manufacturing equipment outta those Chinese warehouses. No quicker way to invite seizure and nationalization than asking wrong questions.

Tea production declined under the green (organic farming) mandates at the same time that immigration collapsed due to the COVID measures - a major hit to both major exports that brought foreign exchange into the country. OK this is all fact and its hilarious.

When Diablo first came out, they had a chat section on Battle.Net which was level limited: you had to have finished the game at Hell level to get into the Black Dragon Cafe (I think it was called).

So I was in that group at the time and there was a small fun group of people who'd joke around on there waiting for games or whatever, and it was an elite place people worked to get into.

We came up with the fabled "cow level", where if you did certain things you could get into this area that was all cows and gave you lots of treasures.

Diablo II actually put this into the game, as a joke.

Now you know.

460 450 Michael Stenger, the Senate Sergeant at Arms who was in charge of Senate security the day of the Capitol riot, has died.

The MSN article makes the usual claim that "4 officers died" during the riots and adds a twist to the next part: a 5th died of a stroke the next day "after being sprayed with chemicals" during the riot.

They've gone from Sitnick being hit with a fire extinguisher (a LIE) to claiming he was sprayed by one?

471 One of the open secrets of WWII is the "manpower crisis of 1945", in which the US looked at its projected needs for the planned invasion of Japan and said "uh oh". The shock of the Battle of the Bulge resulted in divisions specifically created and being trained for Ops Olympic/Coronet to be sent instead to Europe, pronto. The draft uptake was *doubled* in March '45.

Good friend's father, who had been exempted due to age and being a father at the time, got his chance to be trained up for one of the swimming Sherman tanks, at Ft. Knox. An actual example of what was going on.

490 Sgt at Arms would have a role, but the real scandal remains the Capitol Police, who actually are responsible for physical security of the building.

The letter from the (then) chief of the Cap Police, written soon after Jan. 6, is very interesting. Mostly in that it shows support organizations (DC city govt., DOD I believe) normally available to be called upon by the Cap Police for large contingencies were ..... unhelpful. As in - "take a hike".

His timeline of events is also key. The idiot troublemakers who made all the headlines/caused this to be an "event" were at the police line 45 minutes before anyone attending the rally on the Ellipse could have been there. Gee, it's almost as if there were a small group of dedicated shitheads who had planned to cause trouble, and starting doing so when most of the rank/file Trump supporters were half a mile away.

(yeah yeah FBI undercover and possibly other instigators, but the people the Cap Police chief describes clearly needed no instigation of any kind)

491 One of the open secrets of WWII is the "manpower crisis of 1945", in which the US looked at its projected needs for the planned invasion of Japan and said "uh oh".

Yep. They were also looking at stripping 8th Air Force, which was a HUGE manpower sink. Manpower dictated everything, down to division TO&E. It dictated our awful replacement system. We simply did not have the manpower to take divisions out of the line, without feeling it in industry.

--------------------------

That's not true, at all, is it?

The incentive is the Welfare State. Whether they give it to illegals directly, or they fund blackmarket identity theft, so that illegals can pretend to be Americans in order to scam the system - the fact is that it's the free shit that attracts flies and maggots.

Dismantle the Welfare State in America, and you will solve a lot of problems concurrently.
